Control Strategies for Multilevel APFs Based on the Windowed-FFT and Resonant Controllers

  • This paper presents control strategies for cascaded H-bridge multilevel active power filters (APFs). A current loop controller is implemented using a proportional-resonant (PR) regulator, which achieves zero steady-state error at target frequencies. The power balancing mechanism for the dc-link capacitor voltages is analyzed and a voltage balancing controller is presented. To mitigate the picket-fence effect of the conventional FFT algorithm under asynchronous sampling conditions, the Hanning Windowed-FFT algorithm is proposed for reference current generation (RCG). This calculates the frequency, amplitude and phase of individual harmonic components accurately and as a result, selective harmonic compensation (SHC) is achieved. Simulation and experimental results are presented, which verify the validity and effectiveness of the devised control algorithms.

  • Photovoltaic systems normally use a maximum power point tracking (MPPT) technique to continuously deliver the highest possible power to the load when variations in the insolation and temperature occur. A simple method of tracking the maximum power points (MPPs) and forcing the boost converter system to operate close to these Points is presented through deriving small-signal model and transfer function of boost converter. This paper aims at modeling boost converter including equivalent series resistance of input reservoir capacitor by state-space-averaging method and PWM switch model. In the future, properly designed controller for compensation will be constructed in real system for maximum photovoltaic power tracking control.

  • The wind power is known as the most promising future energy source to obtain the electricity Induction generator is a simple energy conversion unit in the wind power generation system but it consumes the reactive power from the interconnected power system. Switched capacitor banks are normally used to compensate the reactive power, which bring about the transient overvoltage. This paper proposes a method for compensating the reactive power with STATCOM. A detail simulation model for analyzing the interaction between the wind power system and the commercial power system was developed using EMTDC software. The developed simulation model can be effectively utilized to plan the reactive power compensation for newly designed wind power system.

  • Capacitor has been used principally for the power factor compensation long ago. However now it does as passive filter to reduce harmonics of nonlinear load with reactor. Most of the customer's low-voltage feeder has been designed with approximately balanced and connected at the 3 phase four wire system. But voltage and current unbalance is appeared by the mixing operation of single or three phase load etc. The addition of reactor at the condenser may rise its terminal voltage. Voltage and current values above rating can act on electrical stress on the condenser. In this paper, we calculated and measured that voltage, current and capacity of condenser are changed under the voltage balance. We conclude that magnitude and deviation of phase voltage act on major point of electrical stress.

  • In consideration of Dielectric loss and Temperature stability, 3-element system dopped with NiO, $Cr_2O_3$, well-known as Hardner and Stabilizer whose primary element is PZT was eximanated its structure, Temperature Coefficient of Capacitor, relative resistivity for Temperature Compensation condensor study. dopping with Nio, $Cr_2O_3$, Temperature Characteristic is developed, Dielectric loss largely represented useful1 small values in specimens dopped with NiO 0.2wt%, and specimence sintered at $110^{\circ}C$ dopped with $Cr_2O_3$, 0.1wt% also relative resistivity largely showed tendency of decrement According to dopping NiO more.

  • 온도보상용 적층 칩 캐패시터 제작에 있어 다음과 같은 실험 결과를 얻을 수 있었다. 적층 칩 캐패시터의 제작에 있어 용량은 재료자제의 유전율과 압력 조건에 따라 변화함을 볼 수 있으며 설계시 이를 고려해야 한다. 또한, 외부 전극의 경우 glss frit 선정이 중요한 변수임을 확인하였으며 $T_s$에 따라 glass frit을 선정하여야하며 열충격 및 소결성 향상을 위한 glass을 동시에 적용하는 것이 유리함을 확인하였다. Ni 내부전극 적용시의 고주파 특성을 검토한 결과 Pd 전극과는 유사한 경향을 보이나 Ag-Pd에 비해서는 우수한 손실특성을 보여주고 있다.

  • We have proposed a new technology compensating reactance component of line and load. Because capacity of SC is static, it is not appropriate to varing reactance and causes SSR problems. TCSC is introduced for the flecxible control of reactance of SC. If SC voltage is varied when the capacitor current is constant, it can be considered that capacity of SC was varied. SO capacity of SC can be controlled by controlling the voltage of SC. Control reference voltage of SC can be obtained from the condition that sum of reactive powers in all parts is zero.

  • Rutile was among the first dielectric materials used. However, rutile exhibits a very high temperature coefficient of capacitance (about -750[ppm/$^{\circ}C$]) which resticts its practical application. Since this first use of titania, other materials have also been studied with the object of decreasing the temperature dependence whilst retaining favorable dielectric loss, Q, and relative permittivity. The temperature coefficient of temperature compensation capacitor is +100~750[ppm/$^{\circ}C$], dielectric constant 10~150. Low loss ceramics with dielectric constants in the 10~150 range also found application. Recently, their applications are extended in EMI filter and dielectric materials for microwave. There temperature coefficient of dielectric materials approaches 0[ppm/$^{\circ}C$]. The dielectric preperties of zirconia titanate ceramics prepared by addition of $Ta_2O_{5}$ were investigated.

  • This paper propose a new active common-mode voltage damper circuit that is capable of suppressing a common-mode voltage produced in the PWM VSI. The new active common mode voltage damper is consisted of a half-bridge inverter and a common mode transformer with a blocking capacitor. Principle of the active common mode damper is as follow; by applying the compensation voltage which has the same amplitude and opposite polarity to the PWM inverter system. So, common mode voltage and high frequency leakage current can be reduced. Simulated and experimental results show that common-mode voltage damper makes contributions to reducing a high frequency leakage current and common-mode voltage.

Fast Transient Buck Converter Using a Hysteresis PWM Controller

  • In this paper, a fast transient buck converter using hysteresis PWM control is presented. The proposed control method is based on hysteresis control of the capacitor C voltage. This offers a faster transient response to meet the challenges of the power supply requirements for fast dynamic input and load changes. It also provides better stability and solves the compensation problem of the error amplifier in conversional voltage PWM control. Finally, the steady-state and dynamic operation of the proposed control method are analyzed and verified by simulation and experimental results.
