  • This study aimed to identify a difference in project implementation between villages that had executed rural village community activation support work successfully and those that had quit in the middle from the new endogenous development theory perspective. As a result, it was found that the main factors used for promoting to increase endogeneous development capabilities existed more in villages that executed project implementation support work successfully than in villages that had quit in the middle. Successful villages have a difference from the villages that had quit in the middle in that they have established a participatory decision making and cooperation system for stable operation even before their support work began, they have more assets for promoting community activity, residents' interaction and communal activity are becoming more active, and reciprocity-based mutual aid culture exists in many forms. In conclusion, seeing from the new endogenous development theory perspective, villages are developed under the interaction between internal and external factors, but the outcome of project implementation depends on whether village community holds its endogenous development capability to operate and develop such whole process of development. Therefore, village community activation policies need to be reinforced in the direction toward promoting to create the main factors for enhancing endogenous development capabilities.

  • In this work, the depletion capability implemented in Monte Carlo code MCS is investigated to predict the isotopic compositions of spent nuclear fuel (SNF). By comparison of MCS calculation results to post irradiation examination (PIE) data obtained from one pressurized water reactor (PWR), the validation of this capability is conducted. The depletion analysis is performed with the ENDF/B-VII.1 library and a fuel assembly model. The transmutation equation is solved by the Chebyshev Rational Approximation Method (CRAM) with a depletion chain of 3820 isotopes. 18 actinides and 19 fission products are analyzed in 14 SNF samples. The effect of statistical uncertainties on the calculated number densities is discussed. On average, most of the actinides and fission products analyzed are predicted within ±6% of the experiment. MCS depletion results are also compared to other depletion codes based on publicly reported information in literature. The code-to-code analysis shows comparable accuracy. Overall, it is demonstrated that the depletion capability in MCS can be reliably applied in the prediction of SNF isotopic inventory.

  • The paper examines the effects of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) on the economic growth of Lao People's Democratic Republic (Lao PDR) between 1993 and 2015. The investigation is based on the influence of growth and economic absorptive capability determinants such as human capital, trade openness, and institutional quality. The methodological analysis uses a multivariate framework accounting capital stock, labor stock, FDI, human capital, trade openness, and institutional quality in regression of the Vector Autoregressive model. Augmented Dickey-Fuller unit root test, Johansen Cointegration test, and Granger Causality test were applied as parts of the econometric time-series analysis approach. The empirical results demonstrate the positive effects of FDI and trade openness, and the negative effects of human capital and institutional quality on the economic growth of the Lao PDR over the 1993 to 2015 period. The findings confirm that trade openness complemented by a sufficient level of infrastructure, education, quality institutions, and transparency significantly influence economic growth and attract more FDI. Research results lend credence to the need for the Lao PDR's government to focus on improving its economic absorptive capability and economic competitiveness regionally and globally by improving wealth and resource management strategies, as failure to take this course of action could lead to the Dutch Disease effects.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze whether SMEs' technological capabilities and international marketing capabilities affect the export performance of the SMEs and to empirically test the moderating effect of the CEO's risk propensity on such a relationship. We obtained data from 190 SMEs located in Gwangju and Jeonnam Province in Korea through survey and performed a regression analysis for hypothesis testing based on these data. As a result of the analysis, it was found that SMEs' technological capabilities and international marketing capabilities had a significantly positive (+) effect on export performance, respectively. Also, the CEO's risk propensity was found to reinforce the relationship between technical competence and export performance, and the relationship between marketing capabilities and export performance was also found to be strengthened in the positive (+) direction. These results suggest that it is necessary for SMEs to continuously develop technological capabilities and international marketing capabilities to achieve successful export performance in overseas markets. Also, the CEO's propensity to promote these relationships may be important.

  • Technology planning in the defense field aims to develop core technologies in order to develop weapon systems to satisfy the force integration period by researching and analyzing necessary technologies for weapon systems. In the past, core technology development projects were conducted by deriving core technology based on the main required operational capability. But in this case, there is the limitation that technologies which are necessary to develop weapon systems but do not directly affect required operational capability, such as system integration technologies, are not considered. In this paper, we propose a work breakdown structure-based technology research and analysis methodology that prevents vacant technologies by identifying core technologies that must be secured for the development of weapon systems at the component level. With the proposed methodology, it is possible to identify technologies that must be acquired to realize the required operational capability of systems or which must be secured even they do not affect the required operational capability.

  • In actual manufacturing industries, process capability analysis often entails characterizing or assessing processes or products based on more than one engineering specification or quality characteristic. Since these characteristics are related, it is a risky undertaking to represent variation of even a univariate characteristic by a single index. Therefore, the desirability of using vector-valued process capability index(PCI) arises quite naturally. In this paper, some vector-valued ${PCI}_p$ ${C}_p$=(${C}_{px}$, ${C}_{py}$),${C}_{pk}$=(${C}_{pkx}$, ${C}_{pky}$) and ${C}_{pm}$=(${C}_{pmx}$, ${C}_{pmy}$) considering univariate PCIs ${C}_p$,${C}_{pk}$ and ${C}_{pm}$ are studied. First, we propose some asymptotic confidence regions of our vector-valued PCIs with bootstrap. And we examine the performance of asymptotic confidence regions of our vector-valued PCIs ${C}_p$ and ${C}_{pk}$ under the assumption of bivariate normal distribution BN($\mu_{x}$, $\mu_{y}$, $\sigma_{x}^{2}$, $\sigma_{y}^{2}$, $\rho$) and bivariate chi-square distribution Bivariate $x^2$(5,5,$\rho$).

  • This paper presents a method to assess total transfer capability(TTC) considering transient stability. TTC is limited not only by the violation of system voltage and thermal limits, but also restricted by transient stability limit, TTC calculation is divided into two processes. The frist step is to calculate TTC without considering the transient stability constraint by using repeated power flow(RPF) method. The second step is to perform transient stability analysis based on TTC calculation in the frist step.

  • Given the large investment and prevalence of knowledge management (KM) in organizations, it has become important to analyze the effects of KM activities on organizational performances. A theoretical framework is proposed to investigate the impact of KM activities on innovation capabilities in the IT service industry. This study considers KM activities as the major determinant that enhances absorptive capacity. KM activities enhance employees'ability to obtain external knowledge, resulting in increasing intellectual capital. Thus, this study proposes that absorptive capacity plays a mediating role between KM activities and innovation capability. Additionally, this study investigates the key antecedents of KM activities that promote employees' knowledge sharing. Based on prior studies on KM, this study posits KM team activities and top manager support as KM activities. The proposed research model was tested by using survey data collected from 556 employees in the IT service industry. PLS (partial least squares) was employed for the analysis of the data. The findings of this study showed that KM activities and absorptive capabilities play a significant role in enhancing service innovation and process innovation in the IT service industry. The results also shed light on the mediating role of absorptive capacity between KM activities and innovation capability. Moreover, both KM team activities and top manager support serve as the salient antecedents of promoting employees' knowledge sharing.

  • he Reactor Coolant Gas Vent System(RCGVS) design for Ulchin Nuclear Power Plant Units 3&4(UCN 3&4) has been improved from the Yonggwang Nuclear Power Plant Units 3&4(YGN 3&4) based on the evaluation results for depressurization capability tests performed at YGN 3&4. There has been a series of plant safety analyses for Natural Circulation Cooldown(NCC) event and thermo-dynamic analyses with RELAP5 code for the steam blowdown Phenomena in order to optimize the orifice size of UCN 3&4 RCGVS. Baesd on these analyses results, the RCGVS orifice size for UCN 3&4 has been reduced to 9/32 inch from the l1/32 inch for YGN 3&4. The depressurization capability tests, which were performed at UCN 3 in order to verify the FSAR NCC analysis results, show that the RCGVS depressurization rates are being within the acceptable ranges. Therefore, it is concluded that the orificed flow path of UCN 3&4 RCGVS is adequately designed, and can provide the safety-grade depressurization capability required for a safe plant operation.
