  • PURPOSE. The purpose of this in vitro study was to investigate the fracture resistance, surface hardness, and color stain of 3D printed, CAD-CAM milled, and conventional interim materials. MATERIALS AND METHODS. A total of 80 specimens were fabricated from auto polymerizing polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA), bis-acryl composite resin, CAD-CAM polymethyl methacrylate resin (milled), and 3D printed composite resin (printed) (n = 20). Forty of them were crown-shaped, on which fracture strength test was performed (n = 10). The others were disc-shaped specimens (10 mm × 2 mm) and divided into two groups for surface hardness and color stainability tests before and after thermal cycling in coffee solution (n = 10). Color parameters were measured with a spectrophotometer before and after each storage period, and color differences (CIEDE2000 [DE00]) were calculated. The distribution of variables was measured with the Kolmogorov Smirnov test, and one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA), Tukey HSD, Kruskal-Wallis, Mann-Whitney U tests were used in the analysis of quantitative independent data. Paired sample t-test was used in the analysis of dependent quantitative data (P < .05). RESULTS. The highest crown fracture resistance values were determined for the 3D printed composite resin (P < .05), and the lowest were observed in the bis-acryl composite resin (P < .05). Before and after thermal cycling, increase in mean hardness values were observed only in 3D printed composite resin (P < .05) and the highest ΔE00 value were observed in PMMA resin for all materials (P < .05). CONCLUSION. 3D printing and CAD-CAM milled interim materials showed better fracture strength. After the coffee thermal cycle, the highest surface hardness value was again found in 3D printing and CAD-CAM milled interim samples and the color change of the bis-acryl resin-based samples and the additive production technique was higher than the PMMA resin and CAD-CAM milled resin samples.

  • This study was performed to find the effect of parameters of numerical analysis model. To find the parameters of numerical analysis model, triaxial test and consolidation test were conducted and the results were compared and analyzed with various methods. Preloaded ground was analyzed with Hyperbolic and Modified Cam-Clay models. Hyperbolic model analysis result was good agreement with measured lateral displacement, and Modified Cam-Clay model agreed more than Hyperbolic model with settlement. When the parameters of models were changed, change of settlement on center of embankment and of maximum lateral displacement on distance 5m from end of embankment were compared. On Hyperbolic model the parameter K has large influence on settlement and lateral displacement. On Modified Cam-Clay model the parameters ${\Gamma}$ and M have large influence on settlement and lateral displacement, respectively.

  • Complementary & Alternative Medicine(CAM) have become increasingly popular with health care consumer in recent years. The nurse's attitude and beliefs about CAM will influence the response. to the patient's demands and inquiries. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the attitude and beliefs of nurses about CAM. The study was performed in 600 nurses from October to December in 1999 : Nurses were working one university hospital & one general hospital were located in TaeGu city. and two general hospitals located in Kyung Buk city. The study used specially designed questionnaire to 600 nurses, and analyzed by using descriptive statistics, ANOVA data based on 460 completed questionnaire. The findings of the study are as following. 1. The credible forms of subject about CAM were ranked acupunture (66.1%). herbal medicine(56.5%), Sooji chim (50.4%) et al. 2. In the credibility of subject about CAM there were not significant difference by age. clinical career, marriage, health status. The most reason of positive credibility was 'Being human perspective and spiritual supporting'. While the most reason of negative credibility was 'the lack of science test and doubt of disease treatment'. 3. In the experienced rate of subject about CAM there were significant difference not by health status but by age($x^2$=10.096, p= .006), clinical career($x^2$=7.648 p= .022), marriage($x^2$=9.317. p= .002). In the satistied rate of subject about CAM there were not significant difference by age, clinical career, marriage, health status 4. The most usable forms of subject about CAM in nurse's practice was Music therapy(55.9%), and ranked massage (50.9%), acupressure(32.8%). Sooji chim (27.8%) et al.

  • A machine that makes paper cups has many parts, including a barrel cam, an index, and a turret. When the barrel cam, which is the main operating part of the machine, rotates, it pushes the roller fixed on the index, and paper cups are formed as the turret connected to the index rotates. Therefore, the performance of the machine is affected by the barrel cam. In this study, the program for designing barrel cam, which creates the profile of the cam is developed using MATLAB. This profile is used to develop a 3D CAD model by using a 3D CAD program. Dynamic models containing the barrel cam are created on the basis of the profile and 3D laser scan of the barrel cam. Further, the rotation angle of the index in the machine is measured using a high-speed camera. The rotation angles of the dynamics models are compared to verify the effectiveness of the program.

  • This paper present the contact stresses, which considers the shear stress at the cam and follower interface in the direct acting type valve train system of a high speed engine. To determine the contact condition, the normal contact forces are calculated by using the lumped mass dynamic modeling. The line contact is considered between the cam and follower interface. The variations of dynamic stresses are presented as a function of camshaft rotational angle. Also the effects of various design parameters are investigated.

  • The flash temperature of the cam-roller contacting surface for a marine diesel engine was analysed numerically. The elastohydrodynamic lubrication pressure and film thickness were adopted to get more accurate frictional coefficient, heat flux and temperature distribution. The maximum flash temperature was increased with both the increasing slip ratio of the contacting surfaces and increasing external load. This study tells that the temperature analysis is an indispensable procedure in designing elastohydrodynamic lubrication contacts on which the slip occurs.
