In this paper, we propose calibration methods that can be applied to the markerless surgical robotic system for Intracerebral Hematoma (ICH) Surgery. This surgical robotic system does not require additional process of patient imaging but only uses CT images that are initially taken for a diagnosis purpose. Furthermore, the system applies markerless registration method other than using stereotactic frames. Thus, in overall, our system has many advantages when compared to other conventional ICH surgeries in that they are non-invasive, much less exposed to radiation exposure, and most importantly reduces a total operation time. In the paper, we specifically focus on the application of calibration methods and their verification which is one of the most critical factors that determine the accuracy of the system. We implemented three applications of calibration methods between the coordinates of robot's end-effector and the coordinates of 3D facial surface scanner, based on the hand-eye calibration method. Phantom tests were conducted to validate the feasibility and accuracy of our proposed calibration methods and the surgical robotic system.
In this paper, we research the hand tracking and calibration algorithm using the EPIC sensor. We analyze the characteristics of EPIC sensor to be more sensitive in the around E-filed, and then we implement the 2-dimensional axis-transformation using the difference of detected amplitude between EPIC sensors. In addition, we implement the calibration algorithm considering the characteristics of EPIC sensor, and then we apply the Kalman filter to efficiently track a target. Thus, we implement the environment of window applications for verification and analysis the implemented algorithm. In turn, we use the DAQ API to extract the analog data. The DAQ hardware has the function of measuring and generating an electrical signal. Moreover, we confirm the movement of mouse cursor by detecting the potential difference depending on the movement of the user's hands.
Calibrating a conceptual hydrologic model necessitates selection of a calibration period that produces the most reliable prediction. This often must be chosen randomly, however, since there is no objective guidance. Observation plays the most important role in the calibration or uncertainty evaluation of hydrologic models, in which the key factors are the length of the data and the hydro-climate conditions in which they were collected. In this study, we investigated the effect of the calibration period selected on the predictive performance and uncertainty of a model. After classifying the inflows of the Hapcheon Dam from 1991 to 2019 into four hydro-climate conditions (dry, wet, normal, and mixed), a conceptual hydrologic partitioning model was calibrated using data from the same hydro-climate condition. Then, predictive performance and post-parameter statistics were analyzed during the verification period under various hydro-climate conditions. The results of the study were as follows: 1) Hydro-climate conditions during the calibration period have a significant effect on model performance and uncertainty, 2) calibration of a hydrologic model using data in dry hydro-climate conditions is most advantageous in securing model performance for arbitrary hydro-climate conditions, and 3) the dry calibration can lead to more reliable model results.
This paper presents a study of water quality model applications in environmental impact statements which were submitted during recent years in Korea. Most of the applications have reported that the development projects would have significant impacts on the water quality, especially, of streams and rivers. The water quality models, however, were hardly used as an impact prediction tool. Even in the cases where models were used, calibration and verification studies were not performed and thus the predicted results would not be reliable. These poor model applications in environmental impact assessment can be attributable to the fact that there were no available model application guidelines as well as no requirements by the review agency. In addition, the expected waste loads were improperly estimated in most cases, especially in non-point sources, and the predicted parameters were not good enough to understand water quality problems expected from the proposed plans. The effects of mitigation measures were not analyzed in most cases. Again, these can be attributed to no formal guidelines available for impact predictions until now. A brief guideline is described in this paper, including model selection, calibration and verification, impact prediction, and analysis of effects of mitigation measures. The results of this study indicate that the model application should be required to overcome the current improper predictions of environmental impacts and the guidelines should be developed in detail and provided.
The purpose of this study was to develop two dimensional contaminant transport numerical model by finite element method. The developed model system was tested for water quality analysis when contaminants from tributaries and sewage treatment Plants flow into the main river. In this study, the model was to perform calibration for reasonable parameter production and verification for reliability and accuracy. And, the proposed model was applied on the downstream of Han river using calibrated parameters. These results represented real con taminant distribution profile along the channel, and produced the good agreement in comparing calculated vague with measured value.

Model parameters of the WASP4 applied to Lake Paldang were estimated. The methodology is based on grouping water quality constituents and relevant parameters and successively estimating each group of parameters by a trial-and-error procedure. Chlorophyll a, nitrogen cycles, phosphorus cycles, BOD and DO were simulated at the complexity level 4. A water budget analysis using the monthly records of reservoir inflows and outflows in 1989 and 1990 was made to determine seasonally-averaged flowrates at model boundaries. Estimated flowrates were used, together with the seasonal average of water quality measurements in 1989 and 1990 for the calibration and verification, respectively, of the model. Grouping water quality constituents and associated parameters proved to be efficient in estimating a number of model parameters. From the results of model calibration and verification, it was found that quantitative evaluations of nonpoint and benthic sources of organic matters are essential. Benthic sources near the entrance of the Kyeongancheon were the most significant.

Most research on the inkjet printing technology has focused on the development of inkjet head itself, and of process, not on the landing accuracy of the droplets to a target. Thus, this paper presents the modeling and experimental verification on the static landing accuracy and precision of the droplets from the magnetostrictive inkjet head. A simple model based on the angle deviation of a nozzle tip and on a distance to a substrate is considered, assuming that there is no ambient effect. The angle deviation of the nozzle tip is determined by using its digital image with the aid of a pixel calculation program, and the distance to the substrate is set to 1 mm. Three experiments have planned and preformed. The first experiment is to collect the initial data for the landing distribution of the droplets. The second experiment is to collect the repeatability data of the stage used. Then, these data are used to rederive the equation for the final landing position of the droplet. The final experiment is to verify the equation and to show the calibration results. The respective landing accuracy of the droplet after calibration on the x-axis and on y axis has improved from $338.51{\mu}m$ and $-133.63{\mu}m$ to $7.06{\mu}m$ and $13.11{\mu}m$. The respective percent improvement on the x-axis and on y axis reaches about 98 and about 90. The respective landing precision of the droplet after calibration on the x-axis and on y axis has improved from ${\pm}182.6{\mu}m$ and ${\pm}182.88{\mu}m$ to ${\pm}24.64{\mu}m$ and ${\pm}42.76{\mu}m$. The respective percent improvement on the x-axis and on y axis reaches about 87 and about 77.
A Tank Model composed of 4 tanks with soil moisture structure was applied to Daecheong Dam and Soyanggang Dam watersheds. Calibration and verification were repeated 332 and 472 times for each watershed using SCE-UA global optimization method for different calibration periods and objective functions. Four different methods of evapotranspiration calculation were used and evaluated. They are pan evaporation, 1963 Penman, FAO-24 Penman-Monteith, and FAO-56 Penman-Monteith methods. Tank model with soil moisture structure showed better results than the standard tank model for daily rainfall-runoff simulation. Two types of objective function for model calibration were found. Proper calibration period are 3 years, in which dry year and flood year are included. If a calibrationperiod has an inadequate runoff rate, the period should be more than 8 years. The four methods of eyapotranspiraton computation showed similar results, but 1963 Penman method was slightly inferior to the other methods.

The purpose of this study is to design, implement and verify the pre-modulation filter with the variable -3dB cutoff frequency and linear phase response for bandlimiting the allocation of radio frequency bandwidth for PCM/FM transmission. For the design of this required filter, the digital FIR filter, DAC system and tuneable 2nd order LPF have been constructed and simulated according to the attenuation characteristic requirement of the amplitude frequency response by each stage. From these results, we have implemented the filter and verified the analog conversion hardware part which is composed of DAC system and tuneable 2nd order LPF for the interpolation of the discrete sequences. Especially this paper proposes and carries out the verification processes using the tone generator and the calibration procedures for more precise frequency response of the filter.
