  • Calibration procedure of high-current measuring system has been promoted to ensure the traceability of national of international standard with the similar method of high-voltage measuring system. This paper introduces general procedure to establish the traceability and type & performance tests for current-voltage transformer, transmission system, recorder and evaluation procedure as the result of intercomparison tests performed 7 laboratories of Europe, and introduces briefly the test method of itemized list from type & performance tests. So we would apply the standard as the criteria that can be enforced temporarily in korea.

  • Applicability of 8 day interval flow data for the calibration of hydrologic model was evaluated using Hydrological Simulation Program-Fortran (HSPF) at Kyungan watershed. The 8 day interval flow monitored by Ministry of Environment located at upstream was calibrated and periodically validated during 2004-2008. And continuous daily flow monitored by Ministry of Construction & Transportation (MOCT) and located at the mouth was compared with daily simulated data during 2004-2007 as spatial validation. Automatic calibration tool which is Model-Independent Parameter Estimation & Uncertainty Analysis (PEST) was applied for HSPF calibration procedure. The model efficiencies for calibration and periodic validation were 0.63 and 0.88, and model performances were fair and very good, respectively, based on criteria of calibration tolerances. Continuous daily stream flow at the mouth of Kyungan watershed were good agreement with observed continuous daily stream flow with showing 0.63 NS value. The PEST program is very useful tool for HSPF hydrologic calibration using non-continuous daily stream flow as well as continuous daily stream flow. The 8 day interval flow data monitored by MOE could be used to calibrate hydrologic model if the continuous daily stream flow is unavailable.

  • The objective of camera calibration is to determine the internal optical characteristics of camera and 3D position and orientation of camera with respect to the real world. Calibration procedure applicable to general purpose cameras and lenses. The general method to revise the accuracy rate of calibration is using mathematical distortion of lens. The effective og calibration show big difference in proportion to distortion of camera lens. In this paper, we propose the method which calibration distortion model by using neural network. The neural network model implicity contains all the distortion model. We can predict the high accuracy of calibration method proposed in this paper. Neural network can set properly the distortion model which has difficulty to estimate exactly in general method. The performance of the proposed neural network approach is compared with the well-known Tsai's two stage method in terms of calibration errors. The results show that the proposed approach gives much more stable and acceptabke calibration error over Tsai's two stage method regardless of camera resolution and camera angle.

  • Wind lidar application is increasing and its calibration method is required to use wind lidar as an alternative to the meteorological mast. A nacelle lidar calibration method is now being discussed in IEC 61400-50-3 (Wind energy generation systems - Part 50-3: Use of nacelle-mounted lidars for wind measurements), and the method is mainly based on the wind lidar beam line of sight (LOS) wind speed calibration suggested by DTU as DTU E-0020 (Calibrating Nacelle Lidars). In this paper, a LOS wind speed calibration method is introduced and a calibration example performed on Jeju island is presented. The results showed a slope of 1.011 and R2 of 0.997, which means that the LOS wind speed is highly correlated with the reference wind speed and is comparable. But LOS wind speed calibration requires a very long time due to its principle and environmental conditions, and a calibration method that can overcome this problem of uncontrollable environments needs to be developed.

  • General purpose of cylindrical capacitive displacement sensor(CCS) is measuring run-out motion and deflection of rotor. If CCS has narrow sensing range, its sensitivity coefficients must be calibrated precisely. And x, y component of CCS output can be coupled. In this research, CCS calibration procedure is automated with automatic calibration program and PC-controlled stage. And, coupled-terms of CCS signals were removed and the errors between measured position and mapped CCS signal were reduced obviously by sensitivity matrix that linearly.

  • Because the rain gauges of tipping bucket type can easily use the digital signal, the rain gauges are widely used for the meteorological observation. In general, the resolution of rain gauges of tipping bucket type can be categorized by the 0.1mm, 0.5mm, and 1.0mm classes. But, the error of the tipping bucket rain gauges is made by the intensity of rainfalls and is expected to make the standard calibration method for error measurement. Thus, we developed the hardware of standard calibration facility for rain gauges by weighting measurement method and proposed the standard procedure by rainfall intensity in this study Also, we calculated the error for the rainfall intensity and obtained useful result through the proposed calibration method.

  • In this study, calibration procedure of power assembly tools is suggested and methods are developed for calculating measurement uncertainty. Fist of all, the calibration of joint simulator bench (JSB) was carried out for maintaining traceability and the uncertainty components of JSB were analyzed. The influences of tool speed, tolerance, temperature and length of the adapter were examined by the torque measurement values through experiments. From this research, credibility for calibration results could be enhanced. This experimental results, being used as an effective tool for calibration of power assembly tools, will provide and improve the accuracy of the use of the power assembly tools.

  • Vision is the most important sensing capability for both men and sensory smart machines, such as intelligent robots. Sensed real 3D world and its 2D camera image can be related mathematically by a process called camera calibration. In this paper, we present a novel linear solution of camera calibration. Unlike most existing linear calibration methods, the proposed technique of this paper can identify camera parameters explicitly. Through the step-by-step procedure of the proposed method, the real physical elements of the perspective projection transformation matrix between 3D points and the corresponding 2D image points can be identified. This explicit solution will be useful for many practical 3D sensing applications including robotics. We verified the proposed method by using various cameras of different conditions.

  • This paper is concerned with a method for calibrating five-hole probes of both angle-tube and prismatic geometries to measure local total and static pressures and the magnitude and direction of the mean velocity vector. Descriptions of the calibration technique, the typical calibration data, and an accompanying discussion of the interpolation procedure are included. The flow properties are determined explicitly from measured probe pressures using calibration data. Flow angles are obtained within the deviation angle of 1.0 degree and dynamic pressures within 0.03 with 95% certainty. The variations in the calibration data due to Reynolds number are also discussed. For the range of Reynolds number employed, no effect was detected on the pitch, yaw and total pressure coefficients. However, the static pressure coefficient showed change to cause minor variations in the magnitude of the calculated velocity vector. To account for these variations, average correction factors need to be incorporated into the static pressure coefficient.
