The Study of Low Temperature $\muC-Si/CaF_2$/glass Film Growth using Buffer layer (Buffer layer 를 이용한 저온 $\muC-Si/CaF_2$/glass 박막성장연구)

  • This paper describes direct $\mu$C-Si/CaF$_2$/glass thin film growth by RPCVD system in a low temperature for thin film transistor (TFT), photovoltaic devices. and sensor applications. Experimental factors in a low temperature direct $\mu$ c-Si film growth are presented in terms of deposition parameters: SiH$_4$/H$_2$ ratio, chamber total pressure, substrate temperature, rf power, and CaF$_2$ buffer layer. The structural and electrical properties of the deposited films were studied by means of Raman spectroscopy, I-V, L-I-V, X-ray diffraction analysis and SEM. we obtain a crystalline volume fraction of 61%, preferential growth of (111) and (220) direction, and photosensitivity of 124. We achieved the improvement of crystallinity and electrical property by using the buffer layers of CaF$_2$ film.

  • The internal defects in $(CaF_2)$ single crystal were characterized by the observation of optical microscopy, the element analysis and the transmittance analysis. In bubble and negative crystal which are composed to crystal plane of (100) and (111), the spread negative crystal in $(CaF_2)$ crystal gave an effect of low transmittance. The precipitates formed in bubble as internal cavities were analyzed by using WDX. Violet colored-crystal had higher a dislocation density than non-colored crystal, and the atomic ratio between Ca and F changed by poor F ion. In this result, we could determine indirectly that violet color was occurred by poor F ion.

Synthesis of Fe­Garnet for tile Immobilization of High Level Radioactive Waste (고준위 방사성폐기물의 고정화를 위한 Fe­석류석 합성 연구)

  • Garnet has been considered as a possible matrix for the immobilization of radioactive actinides. It is expected that Fe­based garnet be able to have the high substitution ability of actinide elements because ionic radius of Fe in tetrahedral site is larger than that of Si of Si­based garnet. Accordingly, we synthesized Fe­garnet with the batch composition of $Ca_{2,5}$C $e_{0.5}$Z $r_2$F $e_3$ $O_{12}$ and $Ca_2$CeZrFeF $e_3$ $O_{12}$ and studied their phase relations and properties. Mixed samples were fabricated in pellet forms under the pressure of 400 kg/$\textrm{cm}^2$ and were sintered in the temperature range of 1100∼140$0^{\circ}C$ in atmospheric conditions. Phase identification and chemical composition of synthesized samples were analyzed by XRD and SEM/EDS. In results, where the compounds were sintered at 130$0^{\circ}C$, we optimally obtained Fe­garnets as the main phase, even though some minor phases like perovskite were included. The compositions of Fe­garnets synthesized from the batch compositions of $Ca_{2,5}$C $e_{0.5}$Z $r_2$F $e_3$ $O_{12}$ and $Ca_2$CeZrFeF $e_3$ $O_{12}$, are $Ca_{2.5­3.2}$C $e_{0.3­0.7}$Z $r_{1.8­2.8}$F $e_{1.9­3.2}$ $O_{12}$ and $Ca_{2.2­2.5}$C $e_{0.8­1.0}$Z $r_{1.3­1.6}$ F $e_{0.4­.07}$ F $e_{3­3.2}$ $O_{12}$, respectively. Ca contents were exceeded and Ce contents were exceeded or depleted in 8­coodinated site, comparing to the initial batch composition. These results were caused by the compensation of the difference of ionic radius between Ca and Ce.

Depression of L-type $Ca^{2+}$ and Transient Outward $K^+$ Currents in Endotoxin-treated Rat Cardiac

  • Decreased cardiac contractility occurs in endotoxicosis, but little is known about the ionic mechanism responsible for myocardial dysfunction. In this study, we examined the changes in $Ca{2+}$ and $K^+$ currents in cardiac myocytes from endotoxin-treated rat. Ventricular myocytes were isolated from normal and endotoxemic rats (ex vivo), that were treated for 10 hours with Salmonella enteritidis lipopolysaccharides (LPS; 1.5 mg/kg) intravenously. Normal cardiac myocytes were also incubated for 6 hours with 200 ng/ml LPS (in vitro). L-type $Ca{2+}$ current $(I_{Ca,L})$ and transient outward $K^+$ current $(I_{to})$ were measured using whole cell patch clamp techniques. Peak $I_{Ca,L}$ was reduced in endotoxemic myocytes (ex vivo; 6.00.4 pA/pF, P<0.01) compared to normal myocytes (control; 10.90.6 pA/pF). Exposure to endotoxin in vitro also attenuated $I_{Ca,L}$ (8.40.4 pA/pF, P<0.01). The amplitude of $(I_{to})$ on depolarization to 60 mV was reduced in endotoxin treated myocytes (16.51.5 pA/pF, P<0.01, ex vivo; 20.00.9 pA/pF, P<0.01 , in vitro) compared to normal myocytes (control; 24.71.0 pA/pF). There was no voltage shift in steady-state inactivation of $I_{Ca,L}$ and $(I_{to})$ between groups. These results suggest that endotoxin reduces $Ca{2+}$ and $K^+$ currents of rat cardiac myocytes, which may lead to cardiac dysfunction.

Activation of G Proteins by Aluminum Fluoride Enhances RANKL-Mediated Osteoclastogenesis

  • Receptor activator of NF-${\kappa}B$ ligand (RANKL)-induced osteoclastogenesis is accompanied by intracellular $Ca^{2+}$ mobilization in a form of oscillations, which plays essential roles by activating sequentially $Ca^{2+}$/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase, calcineurin and NFATc1, necessary in the osteoclast differentiation. However, it is not known whether $Ca^{2+}$ mobilization which is evoked in RANKL-independent way induces to differentiate into osteoclasts. In present study, we investigated $Ca^{2+}$ mobilization induced by aluminum fluoride ($AlF_4^-$), a G-protein activator, with or without RANKL and the effects of $AlF_4^-$ on the osteoclastogenesis in primary cultured mouse bone marrow-derived macrophages (BMMs). We show here that $AlF_4^-$ induces intracellular $Ca^{2+}$ concentration ($[Ca^{2+}]_i$) oscillations, which is dependent on extracellular $Ca^{2+}$ influx. Notably, co-stimulation of $AlF_4^-$ with RANKL resulted in enhanced NFATc1 expression and formation of tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase (TRAP) positive multinucleated cells. Additionally, we confirmed that mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) is also activated by $AlF_4^-$. Taken together, these results demonstrate that G-protein would be a novel modulator responsible for $[Ca^{2+}]_i$ oscillations and MAPK activation which lead to enhancement of RANKL-mediated osteoclastogenesis.

Study on the Remelting of Titanium Scrap by DC-ESR Process (DC-ESR법(去)을 이용한 타이타늄 스크랩의 재용융(再熔融)에 관한 연구(硏究))

  • Titanium scrap was re-melted and refined by using a DC-ESR (Direct Current Electro Slag Remelting) apparatus. A graphite rod was used as an anode. The used slag was $CaF_2-TiO_2-CaO$ slag system. The effect of slag composition on the shape and oxygen content of re-melted ingot was studied. The titanium ingot was produced very well from the $CaF_2-TiO_2$ slag system, and the oxygen content of the ingot was less than that of titanium scrap. The addition of CaO into $CaF_2-TiO_2$ slag system made the bad shape of titanium ingot. The oxygen content of the ingot was also higher than that of titanium scrap.

  • Cellular automata (CA) have been applied to effective cryptographic system design. CA is superior in randomness to LFSR due to the fact that its state is updated simultaneously by local interaction. To apply these CAs to the cryptosystem, a study has been performed how to synthesize CA corresponding to given polynomials. In this paper, we analyze the recurrence relations of the characteristic polynomial of the 90 UCA and the characteristic polynomial of the 90/150 CA whose transition rule is <$00{\cdots}001$>. And we synthesize the 90/150 CA corresponding to the trinomials $x^{2^n}+x+1(n{\geq}2)$ satisfying f(x)=f(x+1) using the 90 UCA transition rule blocks and the special transition rule block. We also analyze the properties of the irreducible factors of trinomials $x^{2^n}+x+1$ and propose a 90/150 CA synthesis algorithm corresponding to $x^{2^n}+x^{2^m}+1(n{\geq}2,n-m{\geq}2)$.

Microwave Dielectric Properties of Ca(Li1/4Nb3/4)O3-CaTiO3 Ceramics added with Zinc-borosilicate Glass Frit (Zinc-borosilicate Glass Frit 첨가에 따른 Ca(Li1/4Nb3/4)O3-CaTiO3 세라믹스의 마이크로파 유전 특성)

  • $xCa(Li_{1/4}Nb_{3/4})O_{3}-(1-x)CaTiO_{3}$ ceramics were sintered under the presence of zinc-borosilicate(ZBS) glass and resultant microwave dielectric properties were investigated with a view to applying the composition to low-temperature co-fired ceramic(LTCC) technology. The addition of $5{\sim}15wt%$ ZBS glass ensured successful sintering below $900\;^{\circ}C$. In general, increased addition of ZBS glass increased sinterability but it decreased the quality factor($Q{\times}f_{0}$) significantly due to the formation of an excessive liquid and second phases. As for the addition of $CaTiO_3$, the dielectric constant(${\epsilon}_r$) and temperature coefficient of resonant frequency(${\tau}_f$) increased, while the quality factor($Q{\times}f_{0}$) did not show an apparent change. The sintered $0.9Ca(Li_{1/4}Nb_{3/4})O_{3}-0.1CaTiO_{3}$ specimen at $900\;^{\circ}C$ with 10 wt% ZBS glass demonstrated 39.6 in dielectric constant(${\epsilon}_r$), 4,400 in quality factor$(Q{\times}f_{0}),\;and\;-11ppm/^{\circ}C$ in temperature coefficient of resonant frequency(${\tau}_f$).

Apatite Single Crystal Growth by FZ Method (FZ법에 의한 Apatite 단결정 성장)

  • In the ternary system of $CaF_2-CaO-P_2O_5$. Apatite$(Ca_{10}(PO_4)_6F_2)$ single crystal having a congruent point was grown by FZ process. The atmospheric condition was kept by oxygen blowing. Adjusting the growth parameters of rotation rate, growth rate and gas amount, we tried to find the optimum growth condition. By partly substituting Ca as Co element, the absorption of infrared is increased and the color effect was observed. Using the Laue back reflection, XRD and FTIR analysis, the characterization of the crystal was carried out.

Variation of Band Gap Energy upon Structural Distortion for Nb-containing Oxyfluorides (Nb를 포함하는 불소산화물에서 구조적 뒤틀림에 따른 에너지 띠 간격의 변화)

  • A comparative study on crystal structures and UV-visible diffuse reflectance spectra for Nb-containing oxyfluorides was performed to probe the relationship between energy band gap and local structure. The oxyfluorides, RbSrNb2O6F, RbCaNb2O6F and RbNb2O5F are commonly composed of the corner-sharing NbO5F octahedra as structural building units. The average Nb-O(F)-Nb bond angles, which can be a measure of the structural distortion, are 158.6° for RbSrNb2O6F, 149.6° for RbCaNb2O6F and 139.5° for RbNb2O5F. As the bond angle decreases, the band gap increases: 3.48eV for RbSrNb2O6F, 3.75eV for RbCaNb2O6F and 4.03 eV for RbNb2O5F. This experimental result implies that the band gap can be controlled with a range of 0.6 eV through a variation of local structure for the Nb-containing oxyfluorides.
