Yield and growth characteristics were compared for five rice cultivars; a new Tongil-type, so called "super-rice", Dasanbyeo, an old Tongil-type Milyang 23, two japonicas Dongjinbyeo and Ilpumbyeo, and a new plant type (NPT)line IR65600-27-1-2. The objective of this stusy was to clarify the high yielding capacity of Dasanbyeo in terms of growth characteristics. The average grain yield (9 t/ha) of Dasanbyeo was higher than that of Milyang 23 by ca. 9% that of japonicas by 20 to 30%, and that of NPT line by ca. 100%. The higher grain yield of Dasanbyeo was attributable not only to the greater dry matter production but also to the higher harvest index (HI). Dasanbyeo showed the greatest dry matter at harvest owing not only to the rapid leaf expan-sion at early growth stage and the resulting high LAI through the entire growth stage but also to the high NAR despite the high LAI. The rapid leaf expansion of Dasanbyeo at early growth stage seemed to be related in part to the profuse tillering capacity. HI was 0.53 in Dasanbyeo, 0,51 in Milyang 23, 0.41 in japonicas, and 0.35 in NPT line. Dasanbyeo was indebted for its higher HI to the relatively high grain filling ratio in spite of a much greater sink size than the other cultivars. Dasan had a greater source to sink ratio during grain ripening as measured by LAD/spikelet and dry matter production/spikelet which showed positove correlations with the grain ripening ratio. New plant type (NPT) line showed the lowest grain yield owing to the small sink size and the low grain filling ratio which seemed to have resulted from the abundant occurrence of weak-strength spikelets. The weak sink strength, in turn, seemed to have suppressed photosynthesis during the grain ripening stage.

Aerosol Particles were collected in a heaby traffic region in pusan. Samples were collected in two size fractions with a two-stage sampler during the day and the night. Elemental concentrations of these aerosol particles were determined by a PIXE(Proton Induced X-ray Emission) analysis method. The results suggest that the elements originating mainly from natural sources such as Si, Ca, Fe, Cl, and K are dominent in the coarse fraction, but the elements such as S, Pb, Br, and Zn are dominent in the fine fraction. Br/Pb ratio are evaluated in both coarse and fine size fraction, and which are mainly emitted automobile sources. The study further also discussed other Br/Pb ratio related works described elsewhere. Sulfur in the fine fraction was continuously increased during the sampling period without time variation.
According to spread volume of B(BiPbCuO) layer, composition ratio and each stage of sintering process, we studied stability of high Tc superconductor phase and generation and growth movement of superconducting phase. The dual layer composed of SrCaCuO and BiPbCuO compound were prepared to develop the Bi-2223 superconductor[108K] through interaction and diffusion during sintering process. The dual layer samples were sintered at 830.deg. C for 0-210 hours. From the result, the optimum conditions were : spread volume(A:B=1:0.6), sintering time(210h) and composition ratio(A:S $r_{2}$C $a_{2}$C $u_{2}$- $O_{x}$, B:B $i_{1.9}$P $b_{0.5}$C $u_{3}$$O_{y}$) at 830.deg. C.. C.C.C.
Oxy-fuel combustion with many advantages such as high combustion efficiency, low flue gas flow rate and low NOx emission has emerged as a promising CCS technology for coal combustion facilities. In this study, the effects of the direct sulfation reaction on $SO_2$ removal efficiency were evaluated in a drop tube furnace under typical oxy-fuel combustion conditions represented by high concentrations of $CO_2$ and $SO_2$ formed by gas recirculation to control furnace combustion temperature. The effects of the operating parameters including the reaction temperature, $CO_2$ concentration, $SO_2$ concentration, Ca/S ratio and humidity on $SO_2$ removal efficiency were investigated experimentally. $SO_2$ removal efficiency increased with reaction temperature up to 1,200 due to promoted calcination of limestone reagent particles. And $SO_2$ removal efficiency increased with $SO_2$ concentrations and the humidity of the bulk gas. The increase of $SO_2$ removal efficiency with $CO_2$ concentrations showed that $SO_2$ removal by limestone was mainly done by the direct sulfation reaction under oxy-fuel combustion conditions. From the impact assessment of operation parameters, it was shown that these parameters have an effects on the desulfurization reaction by the order of the Ca/S ratio > residence time > $O_2$ concentration > reaction temperature > $SO_2$ concentration > $CO_2$ concentration > water vapor. The semi-empirical model equation for to evaluate the effect of the operating parameters on the performance of in-furnace desulfurization for oxy-fuel combustion was established.
Finger millet straw and rice straw are the major source of dry roughage in southern India. They distinctly vary in their morphological and nutritional characters. Hence an effort was made to study the nutrient utilization, milk yield and composition in crossbred dairy cows fed either finger millet (group 1) or rice straw (group 2) as a source of dry roughage. The cows in both the groups were fed as per requirement with concentrate, green fodder and straw in the ratio of 30:45:25 parts (DM). At the end of 50 days of preliminary feeding a digestibility trial was conducted for 7 days and pooled samples of feed, fodder, feces, urine and milk were analysed for macro and micro nutrient content. Finger millet straw contained more CP, Ca, P, Mg, Cu, Zn and Co than rice straw and rice straw contained higher ADF, ash and silica. The intake of DM, CP, EE, NDF, ADF and most micronutrients (Ca, P, Mg, Cu, Zn, Fe, Mn and Co) was significantly higher in cows fed finger millet straw. The digestibility of DM, CP, NDF and ADF was significantly higher in cows fed finger millet straw and the gut absorption of Ca, Cu, Mn and Co was significantly higher in cows fed finger millet straw. The dietary requirement of all micronutrients in both the group of cows could be met irrespective of the type of roughage fed except that of Ca, which was low (0.61 and 0.40%) in rice straw fed cows. The average daily milk yield (L/cow) was also higher (7.0 L) in cows fed finger millet straw as compared to cows fed rice straw (6.3 L). The average milk composition also did not differ except that of milk fat which was significantly (4.7 and 4.5%) low in cows fed rice straw. The overall results of this study have indicated that finger millet straw is a better source of dry fodder than rice straw and while feeding rice straw as the sole roughage to dairy cows there is need to supplement additional calcium as this could be one of the limiting nutrients for milk production.

To effectively utilize ostrich egg shell as a calcium source, various conditions for preparation of calcium lactate from ashing powder (ashed for 15 min at 90$0^{\circ}C$) were evaluated. Optimal conditions involved treatment of ashing powder with 30 mL lactic acid solution at room temperature for 15 min with a CaO : lactic acid ratio (mol/mol) of 1:2. Calcium lactate contained 39.70% calcium comparable to that (40.98%) in ostrich egg shell. Solubility of calcium lactate, 97.7%, was considerably higher than those (0.58% and 3.43%, respectively) of ostrich egg shell and ashing powder, indicating that the former can be utilized more effectively as a calcium source than the two latter.
The study area of Nokjeonri in Yeongwol belongs to the Taebaeksan Mineralized District. Ca and Mg skarn and related ore mineralization are developed in the Pungchon formation along the contact with the Imog granite. Ca skarn hosted in limestone mostly comprises garnet and pyroxene. Mg skarn developed in dolomite includes olivine and serpentine. Magnetite-hematite and pyrrhotite(±scheelite)-pyritegalena-sphalerite were mineralized during early and late stage, respectively. Garnet compositions are dominated by andradite series in proximal area and grossular series in distal area. Pyroxene compositions correspond to diopside series in majority. These compositional changes indicate that the fluids varied from oxidizing condition to reducing condition due to increased reaction with carbonated wall rocks as the fluids moved from the granite to a distal place. Fe2O3 and MgO concentrations of magnetite are higher in Mg skarn than those in Ca skarn, while FeO shows opposite trend. The Zn/Fe ratio of sphalerite increases with distance from the Imog granite. The δ34S values of sulfide minerals are similar to those of the Imog granite, indicating magmatic origin in ore sulfur. Mineralization was established in the order of skarn, oxide and sulfide minerals with decreasing temperature and oxygen fugacity and increasing sulfur fugacity.
This experiment was performed to develop a model for nutrition ion concentration and EC in regard to change in pH from 4.0 to 8.0 in nutrient solution. The pH changes according to the variation of $HPO_4{^{-2}}$ and $H_2PO_4{^-}$ in the nutrient solution while variation of EC increased from pH 4.0 to 5.0, stabilized from pH 5.0 to 7.0 and increased again from pH 7.0 to 8.0. For the variance of major elements in the nutrient solution, K, Ca, N and P increased while pH was higher, especially the variables for K and P were increased largely. On the other hand, variables of Mg and S were stable. Based on analysis of the ion balance model of nutrient solution, the cation increased than anion over rising the variation of pH while balance point of ion moved from a-side to d-side. In addition, the imbalance increased while it moved away from the EC centerline as variance of pH increased. It was larger than effect of EC variance to correction values of equivalence ratios of K and Ca about variation of $HPO_4{^{-2}}$ and $H_2PO_4{^-}$ while as variance of pH increased, K decreased but Ca increased. These showed the result that variance of pH about correction values of equivalence ratios of K and Ca gave a second-degree polynomial model rating of 0.97. Through this research, it was identified the pH variable model about variance among pH, ion and EC according to gradient of phosphate.
This experiment was carried out to investigate the changes in pH, proximate composition, pH, VBN, TBA, minerals, and fatty acid of venison extracts, from three slaughtered deers with 180~210 kg live weight (♀, Elk deer, 28~30 months of age) at 4$^{\circ}C$. Proximate composition was not affected by storage periods. The pH, VBN, and TBA ranged from 4.60~4.62, 13.52~15.75 mg%, and 0.20~0/81mg/kg. respectively. The pH, VBN, and TBA gradually increased during storage period (p<0.050. Among minerals, K, P, Na, Mg, and Ca were major mineral contents and the Ca, mg, Na contents significantly decreased (p<0.05) according to the storage period. The major fatty acid found in venison extracts were oleic acid, palmitic acid, stearic acid, linoleic acid. Oleic acid, linolenic acid, and arachidonic acid decreased during storage, but palmitic acid, heptadeanonic acid, and stearic acid increased during the storage. U/S (unsalturated fatty acid/saturated fatty acid) ratio tended to decrease during the storage.
In order to improve hydration reactivity of blast furnace slag, it's composition was changed by adding of CaO. The slags were quenched in water at 1,400℃. Hydration reactivityof modified slags was studied by x-ray diffractometer, conduction calorimeter and so on. Experimental results were summarized as follows. 1. Glass content and hydration reactivity of slag depend significantly on quenching temperature of the slag melt. To enhance the reactivity, slag melts which belongs to Frenkel-type liquid, must be quenched above 1,300℃. 2. Vitrification of slag melts was confirmed as CaO/SiO2 ratio increased up to 1.57 with flux, 1.51 without flux, also their hydration reactivity was improved.
