  • Hackers' cyber attack techniques are becoming more sophisticated and diversified, with a form of attack that has never been seen before. In terms of information security vulnerability standard code (CVE), about 90,000 new codes were registered from 2015 to 2020. This indicates that security threats are increasing rapidly. When new security vulnerabilities occur, damage should be minimized by preparing countermeasures for them, but in many cases, companies are insufficient to cover the security management level and response system with a limited security IT budget. The reason is that it takes about a month for analysts to discover vulnerabilities through manual analysis, prepare countermeasures through security equipment, and patch security vulnerabilities. In the case of the public sector, the National Cyber Safety Center distributes and manages security operation policies in a batch. However, it is not easy to accept the security policy according to the characteristics of the manufacturer, and it takes about 3 weeks or more to verify the traffic for each section. In addition, when abnormal traffic inflow occurs, countermeasures such as detection and detection of infringement attacks through vulnerability analysis must be prepared, but there are limitations in response due to the absence of specialized security experts. In this paper, we proposed a method of using the security policy information sharing site "snort.org" to prepare effective countermeasures against new security vulnerability attacks.

  • A typical vulnerability scoring system is Common Vulnerability Scoring System(CVSS). However, since CVSS does not differentiate among the individual vulnerability impact of the asset and give higher priority for the more important assets, it is impossible to respond effectively and quickly to high-risk vulnerabilities on large systems. We propose a Layered weight based Vulnerability impact assessment Scoring System which can hierarchically group the importance of assets and weight the number of layers and the number of assets to effectively manage the impact of vulnerabilities on a per asset basis.

  • With the advancement of SIEM from ESM, it allows deep correlated analysis using huge amount of data. By collecting software's vulnerabilities from assessment with certain classification measures (e.g., CWE), it can improve detection rate effectively, and respond to software's vulnerabilities by analyzing big data. In the phase of monitoring and vulnerability diagnosis Process, it not only detects predefined threats, but also vulnerabilities of software in each resources could promptly be applied by sharing CCE, CPE, CVE and CVSS information. This abstract proposes a model for effective detection and response of software vulnerabilities and describes effective outcomes of the model application.

  • NIST in the United States has developed SCAP, a protocol that enables automated inspection and management of security vulnerability using existing standards such as CVE and CPE. SCAP operates by creating a checklist using the XCCDF and OVAL languages and running the prepared checklist with the SCAP tool such as the SCAP Workbench made by OpenSCAP to return the check result. SCAP checklist files for various operating systems are shared through the NCP community, and the checklist files include ID, title, description, and inspection method for each item. However, since the inspection items are simply listed in the order in which they are written, so it is necessary to classify and manage the items by type so that the security manager can systematically manage them using the SCAP checklist file. In this study, we propose a method of extracting the description of each inspection item from the SCAP checklist file written in OVAL language, classifying the categories through a machine learning model, and outputting the SCAP check results for each classified item.

  • When a vulnerability occurs in a program, it is documented and published through CVE. However, some vulnerabilities do not disclose the details of the vulnerability and in many cases the source code is not published. In the absence of such information, in order to find a vulnerability, you must find the vulnerability at the binary level. This paper aims to find out-of-bounds read vulnerability that occur very frequently among vulnerability. In this paper, we design a memory area using memory access information appearing in binary code. Out-of-bounds Read vulnerability is detected through the designed memory structure. The proposed tool showed better in code coverage and detection efficiency than the existing tools.

  • VoIP technology is Eight New Services among Ubiquitous-IT839 strategies. This paper tested wiretapping or VoIP service in connected a soft phone and LAN and WAN sections, Internet telephones and a device. IP PBX, a banner operator network to have been connected to VoIP Internet network. As a result of having experimented on wiretapping of VoIP networks, Vulnerability was found. and a wiretapping by attacks of a hacker was succeeded in a terminal and proxy and attachment points of a VoIP network like a hub to follow a CVE list. Currently applied a security plan of an each wiretapping section in viewpoints of 6 security function of Access Control. Confidentiality, Authentication. Availability, Integrity. Non-repudiation in VoIP networks named to 070. Prevented wiretapping of contents by the results, the AES encryption that executed wiretapping experiment about a packet after application of a security plan. Prevented wiretapping, and kept security and audit log. and were able to accomplish VoIP information protection to network monitoring and audit log by an access interception and qualification and message hash functions and use of an incoming refusal.

  • As automatic hacking tools and techniques have been improved, the number of new vulnerabilities has increased. The CVE registered from 2010 to 2015 numbered about 80,000, and it is expected that more vulnerabilities will be reported. In most cases, patching a vulnerability depends on the developers' capability, and most patching techniques are based on manual analysis, which requires nine months, on average. The techniques are composed of finding the vulnerability, conducting the analysis based on the source code, and writing new code for the patch. Zero-day is critical because the time gap between the first discovery and taking action is too long, as mentioned. To solve the problem, techniques for automatically detecting and analyzing software (SW) vulnerabilities have been proposed recently. Cyber Grand Challenge (CGC) held in 2016 was the first competition to create automatic defensive systems capable of reasoning over flaws in binary and formulating patches without experts' direct analysis. Darktrace and Cylance are similar projects for managing SW automatically with artificial intelligence and machine learning. Though many foreign commercial institutions and academies run their projects for automatic binary analysis, the domestic level of technology is much lower. This paper is to study developing automatic detection of SW vulnerabilities and defenses against them. We analyzed and compared relative works and tools as additional elements, and optimal techniques for automatic analysis are suggested.

  • As the number of software vulnerabilities grows year by year, attacks on software are also taking place a lot. As a result, the security administrator must identify and patch vulnerabilities in the software. However, it is important to prioritize the patches because patches for all vulnerabilities are realistically hard. In this paper, we propose a scoring system that expands the scale of risk assessment metric by taking into consideration attack patterns or weaknesses cause vulnerabilities with the vulnerability information provided by the NIST(National Institute of Standards and Technology). The proposed scoring system is expanded based on the CWSS and uses only public vulnerability information to utilize easily for any company. In this paper, we applied the automated scoring system to software vulnerabilities, and showed the expanded metrics with consideration for influence of attack pattern and weakness are meaningful.

  • This paper shows secure coding rules for PHP programs. Programmers should comply with these rules during development of their programs. The rules are crafted to restrain 28 weaknesses that are composed of 22 corresponding to reported CVEs of PHP, the children of CWE-661 for PHP, and the top 5 weaknesses according to OWASP. The rule set consists of 28 detailed rules under 14 categories. This paper also demonstrates through examples that programs complying with these rules can curb weaknesses. The rules can also serve as a guideline in developing analysis tools for security purposes.
