Pre- and post-initiation modulating effects of green tea ingestion on rat hepatocarcinogenesis

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of green tea ingestion on hepatocarcinogenesis before and after its initiation. Male Sprague-Dawley rats were fed an AIN76A diet with or without green tea. Initiation was induced by a single dose (200 mg/kg) of diethylnitrosamine at week 4 and 0.02% (w/w) 2-acetylaminofluorene was supplied in the diets. The control group had free access to water for 13 weeks (CTR13). Tea infusion was provided from the beginning of the experiment for 13 weeks (PRE13) or from the post-initiation stage until week 13 (POST13). Three other groups (CTR24, PRE24 and POST24) were added to examine the longer-term effects (24 weeks) with the same experimental design. The percentage area of liver sections that were positive for hepatic placental glutathione S-transferase (GST-P), which was used as a marker of preneoplastic lesions, was smaller in PRE13 ($20.2{\pm}5.0%$, $mean{\pm}SD$) and POST13 ($26.0{\pm}4.8%$) than in CTR13 ($33.2{\pm}5.8%$, p<0.05). Over the longer period, the GST-P lesions were significantly smaller for both PRE24 and POST24 ($21.6{\pm}8.5%$ and $22.2{\pm}4.0%$, respectively) than for CTR24 ($28.6{\pm}5.1%$, p<0.05), but there was no significant difference between PRE24 and POST24. The liver content of thiobarbituric acid reactive substances was significantly lower in the tea groups than in the controls (p<0.05). However, no significant differences were observed among groups of GST activity. The results show that tea consumption exhibits a stronger short-term initiation-inhibiting ability in liver carcinogenesis, but over a longer period, the preventive effects of green tea ingestion do not differ in post- and pre-initiation.

Remifentanil-Propofol Sedation as an Ambulatory Anesthesia for Carpal Tunnel Release

  • Objective : This prospective study evaluated the use of continuous sedation using propofol and remifentanil when carpal tunnel release (CTR) was performed under local anesthesia. Methods : We sedated 60 patients undergoing CTR using local anesthesia with remifentanil at loading and continuous doses of $0.5\;{\mu}g\;kg^{-1}$ and $0.05\;{\mu}g\;kg^{-1}min^{-1}$, respectively, and propofol, using a target controlled infusion (TCI) pump set to a target of $2\;{\mu}g\;mL^{-1}$ (group A), or with the same drug doses except that the continuous remifentanil dose was $0.07\;{\mu}g\;kg^{-1}min^{-1}$ (group B) or $0.1\;{\mu}g\;kg^{-1}min^{-1}$ (group C). Results : In group B, the levels of pain when local anesthetics were administered (p = 0.001), intraoperative pain (p < 0.001) and anxiety (p = 0.001) were significantly lower than those of group A. Furthermore, the incidence of adverse events, including desaturation (p < 0.001) and vomiting (p = 0.043), was significantly lower in group B than in group C. Conclusion : Continuous sedation using an appropriate dose of remifentanil and propofol can be used as safe, efficacious ambulatory anesthesia in cases of CTR under local anesthesia, performed using only 2 mL of local anesthetic, with a high degree of patient satisfaction.

The Relationship of Pulmonary Artery Copper Concentrations and Genes Involved in Copper Homeostasis in Cattle, Swine, and Goats

  • Liver and pulmonary artery tissue from 5 Angus cross bred steers, 6 goats, and 6 pigs were collected at a commercial abattoir to examine the relationship of pulmonary artery copper (Cu) concentrations and genes involved in copper homeostasis. Liver and pulmonary artery samples were collected at the time of harvest and snap frozen. Liver and pulmonary artery Cu concentrations were determined via flame atomic absorption spectrophotometry and gene expression was determined via real time PCR. Liver Cu concentrations (mg Cu/kg DM${\pm}$SE) were higher (p<0.01) in cows ($396.4{\pm}109.1$) and goats ($181.4{\pm}37.0$) than in pigs ($19.2{\pm}3.5$). All liver Cu concentrations were within normal ranges and considered adequate for each species. Liver Cu concentration was more variable in cows and goats compared to pig liver Cu concentrations. Pulmonary artery ${\beta}$-hydroxylproline was higher (p<0.01) in cow and pig than goat. Real Time PCR revealed that goat liver atp7a was positively correlated ($r^2$ = 0.92; p<0.01) to liver Cu concentrations while cow and pig atp7a was not correlated to liver Cu concentration. In the pig, liver atp7a concentration was positively correlated to atp7b ($r^2$ = 0.66; p<0.05). Pulmonary artery Cu concentration was highest in cows ($14.9{\pm}4.7$), intermediate in pigs ($8.9{\pm}3.3$), and lowest in goats ($3.9{\pm}1.1$). Goat pulmonary artery Cu concentration was not correlated to ctr1 concentration, however, atp7a concentration was positively correlated with ctr1 ($r^2$ = 0.90; p<0.01). In cow pulmonary artery, loxl1 concentration was positively correlated to eln mRNA concentration ($r^2$ = 0.91; p<0.02). Pulmonary artery CTR1 protein concentration was positively correlated to pulmonary artery Cu ($r^2$ = 0.85; p = 0.03) concentration while negatively correlated to liver Cu ($r^2$ = -0.79; p<0.04). Pulmonary artery Cu concentration was not correlated to concentration of Cu homeostatic genes in the pig. These data indicate that genes involved in Cu homeostasis (ctr1, atp7A, atp7B, loxl1 and eln) are differently regulated in different species.

  • CTR(Click Through Rate) 예측은 사용자가 광고나 아이템을 클릭할 확률을 예측하는 데 사용되는 용어로, 광고 분야에서 중요한 연구 분야로 자리 잡았다. 인터넷 데이터의 양이 증가함에 따라, 전통적인 피쳐 엔지니어링의 인건비는 계속해서 상승하고 있다. 특징 상호 작용에 대한 의존도를 줄이기 위해, 본 논문은 TMH(Two-Tower Multi-Headed Attention Neural Network) 접근법이라고 하는 명시적인 특징 상호 작용과 암시적인 특징 상호 작용을 결합한 융합 모델을 제안한다. CTR 예측에서 TMH 의 효과를 평가하기 위해 3 개의 실제 데이터 세트를 사용하여 많은 수의 실험을 수행하였다. 성능은 3 개의 데이터 세트에서 0.12%, 0.41% 및 0.68%으로 향상되었다.

흉부 방사선검사 영상을 이용한 한국인 정상 여성의 임신기와 비 임신기 심장크기와 심흉비 비교 (Comparison of Cardiac Size and Cardiac Thoracic Ratio in Pregnant and Non-pregnant Women of Normal Korean Women Using Chest X-ray)

  • The purpose of this study is to present the reference values for cardiac size and cardiothoracic ratio change, normal range and diagnosis of cardiovascular disease in pregnancy and non pregnancy of normal Korean women using chest X-ray. The subjects of this study were 58 women, who were read as normal by chest radiologist, had chest radiography taken on both last month of pregnancy, pre-pregnancy and within 2 years following delivery. In this study, we defined the last month of pregnancy as pregnancy and before or post pregnancy as non-pregnancy. CS and CTR were measured by two radiological technologist who had clinical experience more ten years with Danzer's method. Statistical methods were paired t-test and one-way ANOVA. Significance level ${\alpha}$ was 0.05 and p-value 0.05 or less was statistically significant. For pregnancy, the mean of left and right cardiac size was $40.11{\pm}8.73mm$ and $89.51{\pm}11.9mm$, CS was $128.60{\pm}13.15mm$, CTR was $44.51{\pm}4.21%$. In non pregnancy, $36.50{\pm}8.18mm$ and $77.68{\pm}13.1mm$. CS and CTR were $114.18{\pm}14.28mm$ and $42.03{\pm}4.04%$. Both pregnancy and non pregnancy, the difference of the mean value in left and right cardiac size, CS and CTR were statistically significant (p<0.01). but comparing mean on age, height and weight, the difference of the mean value between groups was not (p>0.05). In the result of this study, the mean size of CS increased by 12.6% in pregnancy($128.60{\pm}13.15mm$) compared to the non pregnancy($114.18{\pm}14.28mm$), and increased by 9.8% in the right side of the heart and 15.2% in the left side. The mean size of CTR increased about 5.9% in pregnancy ($44.5{\pm}4.21%$) compared to non pregnancy($42.03{\pm}4.04%$).

흉부 X-선 검사에서 복부비만에 따른 입사표면선량과 영상 왜곡도 평가 (Assessment of Entrance Surface Dose and Image Distortion in Accordance with Abdominal Obesity in the Chest Radiography)

  • 사회 인구학적 특성을 보정 하였을 때 대사 증후군의 예측에 가장 높은 연관이 남녀 모두에서 비만-복부 비만군이라고 보고되고 있으며, 의료기기의 발전과 더불어 방사선에 대한 피폭선량이 증가하고 있는 추세이다. 이에 흉부 X선 검사에서 복부의 비만정도를 가정하여 흉부팬텀에서 앞쪽방향(forward)으로 각도를 부여한 후 기준영상과 비교하여 입사표면선량과 영상의 왜곡 정도를 평가하였다. 흉부팬텀의 각도가 앞쪽방향으로 $5^{\circ}$ 증가할 때 마다 폐의 가로직경은 1.22%, 세로직경은 0.44% 증가하였다. 심장직경은 앞쪽방향으로 $5^{\circ}$ 증가할 때 마다 1.01% 증가, CTR은 0.27% 감소가 관찰되었다. 그 중 폐의 가로직경이 가장 큰 증가, 폐의 세로직경이 가장 작은 증가를 보였고 CTR은 작은 감소를 보였다. 그러나 팬텀에 입사하는 표면선량 측정의 경우, 흉부팬텀의 각도가 앞쪽방향으로 $5^{\circ}$ 증가할 때 마다 6.12%의 비교적 큰 증가를 보였다. 임상에서 흉부 X-선 후전방향촬영을 시행하는 경우, 복부비만 등으로 인해 흉부의 각도가 기울어짐에 따라 영상의 왜곡뿐만 아니라 환자에게 노출되는 선량이 증가되고 재촬영으로 추가적인 방사선 피폭이 발생될 수 있으므로 올바른 위치잡이에 주의를 기울여 환자의 방사선피폭 감소에 노력을 해야 할 것이다.

32-bit RISC-V상에서의 PIPO 경량 블록암호 최적화 구현 (Optimized Implementation of PIPO Lightweight Block Cipher on 32-bit RISC-V Processor)

  • PIPO 경량 블록암호는 ICISC'20에서 발표된 암호이다. 본 논문에서는 32-bit RISC-V 프로세서 상에서 PIPO 경량 블록암호 ECB, CBC, CTR 운용 모드의 단일 블록 최적화 구현과 병렬 최적화 구현을 진행한다. 단일 블록 구현에서는 32-bit 레지스터 상에서 효율적인 8-bit 단위의 Rlayer 함수 구현을 제안한다. 병렬 구현에서는 병렬 구현을 위한 레지스터 내부 정렬을 진행하며, 서로 다른 4개의 블록이 하나의 레지스터 상에서 Rlayer 함수 연산을 진행하기 위한 방법에 대해 설명한다. 또한 CBC 운용모드의 병렬 구현에서는 암호화 과정에 병렬 구현 기법 적용이 어렵기 때문에 복호화 과정에서의 병렬 구현 기법 적용을 제안하며, CTR 운용모드의 병렬 구현에서는 확장된 초기화 벡터를 사용하여 레지스터 내부 정렬 생략 기법을 제안한다. 본 논문에서는 병렬 구현 기법이 여러 블록암호 운용모드에 적용 가능함을 보여준다. 결과적으로 ECB 운용모드에서 키 스케줄 과정을 포함하고 있는 기존 연구 구현의 성능 대비 단일 블록 구현에서는 1.7배, 병렬 구현에서는 1.89배의 성능 향상을 확인하였다.

Identification of Chinese Personal Names in Unrestricted Texts

  • Automatic identification of Chinese personal names in unrestricted texts is a key task in Chinese word segmentation, and can affect other NLP tasks such as word segmentation and information retrieval, if it is not properly addressed. This paper (1) demonstrates the problems of Chinese personal name identification in some If applications, (2) analyzes the structure of Chinese personal names, and (3) further presents the relevant processing strategies. The geographical differences of Chinese personal names between Beijing and Hong Kong are highlighted at the end. It shows that variation in names across different Chinese communities constitutes a critical factor in designing Chinese personal name Identification algorithm.

고온용마그네슘 합금의 개발 동향 - Mg-Al-CaO 중심으로 - (Development trend of high temperature Mg alloys)

  • 자동차 및 항공기 부품용 고온 다이캐스팅 마그네슘 합금에 대한 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 알루미늄을 주된 합금원소로 하여 희토류원소나 알칼리토금속 등을 첨가하는 3원계 합금 및 각 원소들을 조합하는 4원계 합금이 개발되었다. 이들 합금의 크립 저항성은 금속간 상에 의한 결정 입계 강화에 기인한다. 그 동안의 합금조성 개발의 핵심은 결정 입계의 이동을 유발하여 고온 변형을 유발하는 고온 불안정 석출상의 생성을 억제하는 것이었다. Mg-Al계 합금에 희토류원소를 첨가하면 고온 안정상의 생성으로 고온 특성이 향상되지만 희토류원소의 경제성이 단점이다. 고비용의 희토류원소를 대신하기 위해 알칼리토금속을 첨가하는 합금 및 이들 원소를 조합하는 합금이 개발되었다. 본고에서는 알칼리토금속을 첨가할 경우에 발생하는 생산성의 저하 등의 단점을 보완하는 알칼리토금속산화물이 첨가된 합금을 소개하였는데 이는 1) 비고용성 2) 융점유지 3) 주조성유지 4) 재활용성 5) 경제성 등의 특징이 있다.

SOIL EROSION MODELING USING RUSLE AND GIS ON THE IMHA WATERSHED

  • The Imha watershed is vulnerable to severe erosion due to the topographical characteristics such as mountainous steep slopes. Sediment inflow from upland area has also deteriorated the water quality and caused negative effects on the aquatic ecosystem of the Imha reservoir. The Imha reservoir was affected by sediment-laden density currents during the typhoon 'Maemi' in 2003. The RUSLE model was combined with GIS techniques to analyze the mean annual erosion losses and the soil losses caused by typhoon 'Maemi'. The model is used to evaluate the spatial distribution of soil loss rates under different land uses. The mean annual soil loss rate and soil losses caused by typhoon 'Maemi' were predicted as 3,450 tons/km2/year and 2,920 ton/km2/'Maemi', respectively. The sediment delivery ratio was determined to be about 25% from the mean annual soil loss rate and the surveyed sediment deposits in the Imha reservoir in 1997. The trap efficiency of the Imha reservoir was calculated using the methods of Julien, Brown, Brune, and Churchill and ranges from 96% to 99%.
