K-Birnessite를 이용한 Li-Mn Spinel 나노입자 합성 및 전기화학적 특성 평가 (Hydrothermal Synthesis of Li-Mn Spinel Nanoparticle from K-Birnessite and Its Electrochemical Characteristics)

  • 본 연구에서는 리튬 2차 전지의 양극물질 중 하나인 Li-Mn spinel ($LiMn_2O_4$)을 합성하기 위해 전구체로 K-Birnessite ($K_xMnO_2{\cdot}{yH_2O}$)를 이용하였다. K-Birnessite는 과망간산칼륨[$KMnO_4$]과 우레아[$CO(NH_2)_2$]를 사용하여 수열합성법으로 합성하였고, K-Birnessite와 LiOH를 수열 반응시켜 Li-Mn spinel 나노입자를 제조하였다. 리튬함량에 따른 Li-Mn spinel 의 구조 및 형상 변화와 전기화학적 특성에 대한 경향성을 알아보기 위해 LiOH와 K-Birnessite의 몰 비를 조절하여 Li-Mn spinel를 합성하였다. 합성된 분말은 X-ray diffraction (XRD), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), thermogravimetry (TG)를 이용하여 물질의 구조 및 형상을 분석하였고, 정전류법으로 양극재의 용량과 율 특성을 비교 분석하였다. 그 결과 LiOH/K-Birnessite의 몰 비가 0.8일 때 가장 큰 용량($117\;mAhg^{-1}$)을 나타냈고, 몰 비가 증가할수록 Li-Mn spinel 중 리튬함량이 증가하여 용량은 감소하였으나, 입자크기는 작아져서 율 특성은 점점 향상되는 경향을 보였다.

Fast and Brand-Specific Calibration of Fuel-efficient Powertrains

  • Future emission legislation requirements especially the need for CO$_2$ reduction lead to more complex powertrain concepts with an increasing number of independent parameters to be calibrated. For gasoline engines concepts with variable valve timing, direct injection or variable charge motion are in development or already on production. Diesel engines with common rail systems offer a wide range of new injection strategies, the application of new exhaust aftertreatment systems leads to additional complexity. Furthermore a clear trend to highly sophisticated transmission concepts requires a perfect interaction of all powertrain components. While the higher complexity requires increasing test and development effort, the development duration is reduced significantly. Consequently, the potential of such systems cannot be fully utilised by traditional development and calibration approaches within the given timeframe. By introduction of intelligent methodologies f3r the calibration of modem powertrains the development becomes more efficient, faster and better in quality. However, even with standardised and automated calibration methods a differentiated brand-specific powertrain character has to be maintained comparable to a "handmade" calibration performed by highly experienced experts.

바이오디젤 연료 분무의 거동특성 연구 (A Study of Behavior Characteristics of Biodiesel Fuel Spray)

  • Diesel engine is most suitable one for biodiesel fuel because the compression-ignition diesel engine has desirable fuel consumption due to higher thermal efficiency and in addition, the improvement of the fuel consumption also leads to a reduction of $CO_2$ emission and then it does not need to have spark-ignition system, which means that there is less charge on the technic and complexity. In this study, the spray behavior characteristics of the vegetable palm oil were analyzed by using a common-rail injection system of commercial diesel engine and the results were compared with those obtained for the diesel fuel. The injection pressures and blend ratios of palm oil and diesel(BD3, BD5, BD20, BD30, BD50, and BD100) were the main parameters. The experiments were conducted for different injection pressures: 500bar, 1000bar, 1500bar, and 1600bar by setting injection duration to $500{\mu}s$. Consequently, it was found that there is no significant difference in the macro characteristics of the spray behavior(spray penetration and spray angle) in response to change in the blend ratio of palm oil and diesel at a fixed injection pressure. In particular, all experiments showed the spray angle about $12^{\circ}{\sim}13^{\circ}$.

The Study on EU ETS (欧盟航空减排交易体制评析) -From the Perspective of China-

  • European Union unilaterally included the emissions from aviation activities into EU ETS on 19 November 2008 by amending Directive 2003/87/EC. According to the Directive all the emissions(mainly against the CO2) from aviation activities shall be subject to the regulation of EU ETS from 2012. For the period from 1 January 2012 to 31 December 2012, the total quantity of allowances to be allocated to aircraft operators shall be equivalent to 97% of the historical aviation emission s. From 1 January 2013, the allowances will be reduced to 95%. The allocation of allowances which may be applied by each operator with free of charge will be reduced from 85% to 82% from 1 January 2012 to 1 January 2013. Since the Directive will affect every country's airline industry more or less, the nations and international organizations respond variously. The controversial focus is that whether EU has the right to unilaterally include the emissions from international aviation activities into EU ETS. This article firstly analyzes the effect caused by EU ETS to China's airline industry, and then studies the legality of the action of EU subject to current positive international law, and finally draws the conclusion that EU enjoys no such right to unilaterally include the emissions from international aviation activities.

코먼레일 직접분사식 디젤 엔진의 조기 분사가 연소 및 배기특성에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Early Injection Strategy on the Combustion and Emission Characteristics of the Common-rail DI Diesel Engine)

  • An experimental investigation of an early injection strategy was conducted on a small single cylinder common-rail DI diesel engine to reduce the oxides of nitrogen($NO_x$) emission. The main objectives of this study were to investigate the emissions, performance and combustion characteristics in a diesel engine with early and two-stage injections. The two- stage injection was conducted to reduce the wall-wetting of early injected fuels on the cylinder wall or to promote the ignition of premixed charge. The engine test was performed at conditions of 1500rpm, injection timing ranging from TDC to BTDC $80^{\circ}$. The experimental results show that $NO_x$ emissions were decreased in both cases of early injection and two stage injection compared to the conventional diesel combustion by the near TDC injection. However, soot and products of incomplete products (i.e. HC and CO) are slightly increased. Also, the second injection near TDC promoted the ignition of premixed fuel, therefore, IMEP was increased.

CVCF 인버터 기반의 Micro-grid에 있어서 과도상태 운용알고리즘에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Transient Operation Algorithm in Micro-grid based on CVCF Inverter)

  • 최근, 도서지역에서는 $CO_2$ 배출의 저감을 위하여, 디젤발전기의 가동률을 줄이고 신재생에너지전원의 비중을 높여, 계통을 안정적으로 운용할 수 있는 방안들이 연구되고 있다. 특히, Carbon free를 목표로 하는 도서지역용 Micro-grid에서는 CVCF(constant voltage & constant frequency) 인버터를 기반으로 운용되는데, CVCF 인버터용 배터리의 SOC(state of charge) 상태에 따라, 계통의 부하소비 보다 신재생에너지전원의 출력이 큰 경우에 CVCF 인버터 내에서 발생하는 에너지 Sinking에 의하여, 배터리측 전압이 급격히 상승하여, 인버터의 과전압 보호동작에 의해 CVCF 인버터가 급격하게 탈락되어 계통에 정전이 발생하는 문제점이 일어날 수 있다. 따라서, 본 논문에서는 CVCF 인버터를 기반으로 한 도서지역용 Micro-grid의 안정적인 운용을 위하여, 에너지 Sinking 시에 발생 가능한 CVCF 인버터의 탈락을 사전에 방지하는 과도상태 운용알고리즘을 제안한다. 또한, PSCAD/EMTDC의 모델링을 이용하여, 제안한 알고리즘을 적용한 Micro-grid의 과도상태 운용특성을 분석한 결과, 배터리의 전압과 SOC에 따라 CVCF 인버터가 탈락하는 과도상태를 사전에 방지할 수 있어, 본 논문의 유용성을 확인하였다.

구주연합의 항공기 배출 규제 조치의 국제법적 고찰 (Legal Review on the Regulatory Measures of the European Union on Aircraft Emission)

  • 환경 문제에 있어서 세계의 리더로서 앞 서 가는 구주연합(EU)은 2012년 1월 1일부터 EU 역.내외 항공기를 막론하고 EU 회원국 영토를 출발하고 도착하는 모든 항공기 운항자에 대하여 이들 항공기 엔진에서 배출되는 이산화탄소의 배출량을 규제하는 법 Directive 2008/101/EC를 2008년 제정, 공포하였다. 이에 따라 대한항공과 아시아나를 포함하여 EU를 운항하는 많은 EU 역외 항공사들은 지난 2004-2006년 3년간 연 평균 배출량의 97%만을 2012년 배출하고 2013년부터는 95%만을 배출 허용 받으며 부족한 배출량은 배출권 거래 시장에서 구입하여 충당하여야 한다. 상기 EU 조치는 다음과 같은 법적 문제를 야기한다. 첫째, EU의 법은 범 세계적 환경조약인 교토의정서가 선진국 그룹인 기후변화협약의 Annex I 국가에게만 이산화탄소 등 지구온난화가스 배출을 감축토록 한 것에 반한다. 교토의정서 제2조 2항은 지구온난화가스 감축에 있어서 항공기 배출에 관련한 체제를 ICAO를 통하여 해결하도록 위임하였는데 지역 기구인 EU가 이를 자체 지역에만 적용하기 위하여 작성한 것도 문제이다. 둘째, 역외 항공사들이 EU로 운항하는 데에 있어서 공해와 제3국의 상공을 비행하는데 EU 역내 비행에서 이루어지지 않는 여사한 비행 중 발생하는 배출을 어떤 근거로 EU가 규제할 수 있는가이다. 셋째, EU 회원국들이 Annex I 국가로서 교토의정서 상 항공기의 국내운항 배출에 대하여서는 2012년까지 이미 배출 감축의무를 지고 있음을 감안할 때, 2012년부터 시행되는 항공기 배출 감축 조치에 non-Annex I 국가의 항공 운항자를 끌어들이면서 EU 항공사들이 적어도 2012년에는 예상치 않은 이득을 얻는다는 문제도 발생한다. 과거 유사한 EU 주도의 환경관련 국제 분쟁을 살펴본 후, 상기 EU 조치를 국제법적으로 조명하고 결론에서 EU의 조치에 대한 국내적 대처를 간략기술하였다.

고상 반응법으로 합성한 ${Y_2}{SiO_5}:\;EU^{3+}$, $Bi^{3+}$ 적색 형광체의 발광 특성 (Luminescence characterization of $EU^{3+}$ and $Bi^{3+}$ co-doped in ${Y_2}{SiO_5}$ red emitting phosphor by solid state reaction method)

  • 본 연구에서는 근 자외선 및 가시광 영역에서 우수한 발광 강도를 가지는 적색 형광체를 얻기 위하여 고상 반응법으로 합성하여 $EU^{3+}$$Bi^{3+}$가 도핑 된 ${Y_2}{SiO_5}$의 발광 특성을 관찰하였다. 근자외선 영역인 ${\lambda}_{ex}=395nm$ 기준으로 측정하였고, $^5D_0-^7F_2$의 에너지 천이에 의해 612 nm 영역에서 강한 peak가 발생하였다. CST가 $Eu^{3+}-O^{2-}$에 의해 258 nm 영역 대에서 생성되었고, $Bi^{3+}$가 함께 도핑 된 것은 $Eu^{3+}-Bi^{3+}-O^{2-}$에 상호작용에 의해 282 nm 영역대의 장파장 쪽으로 이동하였다. $350\;nm{\sim}480\;nm$ 영역 대에 '$^7F_0{\to}^5L_9$ (364 nm), $^7F_0{\to}^5G_3$(381 nm), $^7F_0{\to}^5L_6$(395nm), $^7F_0{\to}^5D_3$(415 mn) and $^7F_0{\to}^5D_2$(466 nm)는 $Bi^{3+}$$EU^{3+}$ f-f 천이에 의해 발생하였다. $Bi^{3+}$의 도핑농도가 증가할수록 발광 강도가 증가함을 보이다가 0.125 mol 일 때 발광강도가 가장 우수하였고, $Bi^{3+}$의 도핑 농도가 0.125 mol 이상 되면 발광강도가 현저히 감소하는 것을 확인하였다.

Preliminary Research of CZT Based PET System Development in KAERI

  • Background: For positron emission tomography (PET) application, cadmium zinc telluride (CZT) has been investigated by several institutes to replace detectors from a conventional system using photomultipliers or Silicon-photomultipliers (SiPMs). The spatial and energy resolution in using CZT can be superior to current scintillator-based state-of-the-art PET detectors. CZT has been under development for several years at the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute (KAERI) to provide a high performance gamma ray detection, which needs a single crystallinity, a good uniformity, a high stopping power, and a wide band gap. Materials and Methods: Before applying our own grown CZT detectors in the prototype PET system, we investigated preliminary research with a developed discrete type data acquisition (DAQ) system for coincident events at 128 anode pixels and two common cathodes of two CZT detectors from Redlen. Each detector has a $19.4{\times}19.4{\times}6mm^3$ volume size with a 2.2 mm anode pixel pitch. Discrete amplifiers consist of a preamplifier with a gain of $8mV{\cdot}fC^{-1}$ and noise of 55 equivalent noise charge (ENC), a $CR-RC^4$ shaping amplifier with a $5{\mu}s$ peak time, and an analog-to-digital converter (ADC) driver. The DAQ system has 65 mega-sample per second flash ADC, a self and external trigger, and a USB 3.0 interface. Results and Discussion: Characteristics such as the current-to-voltage curve, energy resolution, and electron mobility life-time products for CZT detectors are investigated. In addition, preliminary results of gamma ray imaging using 511 keV of a $^{22}Na$ gamma ray source were obtained. Conclusion: In this study, the DAQ system with a CZT radiation sensor was successfully developed and a PET image was acquired by two sets of the developed DAQ system.

RF 마그네트론 스퍼터를 이용하여 제작한 MGZO 박막의 구조적 및 전기적, 광학적 특성에 미치는 스퍼터링 전력의 영향 (Effect of Sputtering Powers on Mg and Ga Co-Doped ZnO Thin Films with Transparent Conducting Characteristics)

  • ZnO thin films co-doped with Mg and Ga (MxGyZzO, x + y + z = 1, x = 0.05, y = 0.02 and z = 0.93) were prepared on glass substrates by RF magnetron sputtering with different sputtering powers ranging from 100W to 200W at a substrate temperature of $350^{\circ}C$. The effects of the sputtering power on the structural, morphological, electrical, and optical properties of MGZO thin films were investigated. The X-ray diffraction patterns showed that all the MGZO thin films were grown as a hexagonal wurtzite phase with the preferred orientation on the c-axis without secondary phases such as MgO, $Ga_2O_3$, or $ZnGa_2O_4$. The intensity of the diffraction peak from the (0002) plane of the MGZO thin films was enhanced as the sputtering power increased. The (0002) peak positions of the MGZO thin films was shifted toward, a high diffraction angle as the sputtering power increased. Cross-sectional field emission scanning electron microscopy images of the MGZO thin films showed that all of these films had a columnar structure and their thickness increased with an increase in the sputtering power. MGZO thin film deposited at the sputtering power of 200W showed the best electrical characteristics in terms of the carrier concentration ($4.71{\times}10^{20}cm^{-3}$), charge carrier mobility ($10.2cm^2V^{-1}s^{-1}$) and a minimum resistivity ($1.3{\times}10^{-3}{\Omega}cm$). A UV-visible spectroscopy assessment showed that the MGZO thin films had high transmittance of more than 80 % in the visible region and that the absorption edges of MGZO thin films were very sharp and shifted toward the higher wavelength side, from 270 nm to 340 nm, with an increase in the sputtering power. The band-gap energy of MGZO thin films was widened from 3.74 eV to 3.92 eV with the change in the sputtering power.
