수소 수율 증가를 위한 합성가스의 수성가스전환 반응 연구 (Water Gas Shift reaction research of the synthesis gas for a hydrogen yield increase)

  • 폐자동차의 최종처분 과정에서 발생하는 자동차 파쇄 폐기물(Automobile Shredder Dust)은 대부분이 고분자 화합물로 높은 발열량을 가지고 있다. 또한 할로겐족 원소가 포함된 난연성 고분자류가 많아 다이옥신의 생성 우려가 높은 고분자류와 다이옥신 생성의 촉매 역할을 할 수 있는 금속성분이 많이 함유되어 있어 가스화용융시스템에 적용하여 처리하기에 매우 적합한 폐기물이다. 본 연구에서는 ASR의 가스화 용융 시설에서 고농도 CO를 함유한 합성가스를 수성가스전환반응(Water Gas Shift reaction, WGS)을 이용하여 수소의 수율을 높이는 기술을 제시하였다. 가스화 용융 설비에서 배출되는 합성가스 조성을 기준으로 적합한 고정층 WGS 반응기를 설계하고, 고온 촉매(KATALCO 71-5M)와 저온 촉매(KATALCO 83-3X)를 사용하여 실험하였다. 수성가스 반응 후의 가스 조성은 온도가 상승할수록 일산화탄소가 줄어들고 이에 따라 수소와 이산화탄소 발생량이 증가 되어 고온 촉매를 사용했을 경우 일산화탄소 전환율 ($1-CO_{out}/CO_{in}$)은 55.6에서 95.8%까지 상승하였다. 동일한 온도조건에서는 촉매에 관계없이 $CO/H_2$가 감소할수록 전환율도 감소하는 경향을 보였지만 동일한 합성가스 조성에서 일산화탄소 전환율을 비교하면 저온 촉매가 고온 촉매보다 매우 우수함을 알 수 있었다.

Infrared spectroscopy of the effect of metal electrode on adsorbate under electric field: Electrochemical model study of CO on Pt(111) with ice film capacitor method in ultrahigh vacuum

  • The influence of electric field on CO adsorbed on Pt(111) was investigated with reflection-absorption infrared spectroscopy (RAIRS) in ultrahigh vacuum system. The ice film capacitor method was used to apply electric field to the amorphous ice film with CO on Pt(111). Two systems were compared by measuring the change of the CO stretching vibrational mode under applied electric field; one is CO on Pt(111), and the other is CO buried inside an ice film on Pt(111). By comparing them, we were able to calculate the additional effect of adsorption of CO on Pt(111) on peak shift. The CO adsorbed on Pt(111) has shown larger peak shift than CO adsorbed with H2O when we applied stronger electric field. Additionally, the differences were observable when the applied electric field exceeds $1{\times}10V/m^8$.

컴팩트 개질기용 수성가스전이 반응에서 Cu-Ce0.8Zr0.2O2 촉매에 Cu 담지량이 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Cu Loading on the Performance of Cu-Ce0.8Zr0.2O2 Catalysts for Single Stage Water Gas Shift Reaction)

  • Single stage water-gas shift reaction has been carried out at a gas hourly space velocity of $150,494h^{-1}$ over $Cu-Ce_{0.8}Zr_{0.2}O_2$ catalysts prepared by a co-precipitation method. Cu loading was optimized to obtain highly active co-precipitated $Cu-Ce_{0.8}Zr_{0.2}O_2$ catalysts for single stage water-gas shift reaction. 80 wt.% $Cu-Ce_{0.8}Zr_{0.2}O_2$ exhibited the excellent catalytic performance as well as 100% $CO_2$ selectivity (CO conversion = 27% at $240^{\circ}C$ for 50 h). The high activity and stability of 80 wt.% $Cu-Ce_{0.8}Zr_{0.2}O_2$ are correlated to low activation energy and large amount of surface Cu atoms.

  • A new laser Doppler velocimeter employing a $CO_2$ laser has been developed by using its photoacoustic effect. A change in the pressure of a discharge, induced by mixing of a returned wave with an originally existing wave inside the cavity, is employed to detect the Doppler frequency shift. We found that a Doppler frequency shift as small as 50 kHz was detected, and also a good linear relationship between the velocity and the Doppler frequency shift was obtained.

Effects of Mg Addition to Cu/Al2O3 Catalyst for Low-Temperature Water Gas Shift (LT-WGS) Reaction

  • To investigate the effects of Mg addition at different aging times and temperatures, Cu/MgO/Al2O3 catalysts were synthesized for the low-temperature water gas shift (LT-WGS) reaction. The co-precipitation method was employed to prepare the catalysts with a fixed Cu amount of 30 mol% and varied amounts of Mg/Al. Synthesized catalysts were characterized using XRD, BET, and H2-TPR analysis. Among the prepared catalysts, the highest CO conversion was achieved by the Cu/MgO/Al2O3 catalyst (30/40/30 mol%) with a 60 ℃ aging temperature and a 24 h aging time under a CO2-rich feed gas. Due to it having the lowest reduction temperature and a good dispersion of CuO, the catalyst exhibited around 65% CO conversion with a gas hourly space velocity (GHSV) of 14,089 h-1 at 300 ℃. However, it has been noted that aging temperatures greater or less than 60 ℃ and aging times longer than 24 h had an adverse impact, resulting in a lower surface area and a higher reduction temperature bulk-CuO phase, leading to lower catalytic activity. The main findings of this study confirmed that one of the main factors determining catalytic activity is the ease of reducibility in the absence of bulk-like CuO species. Finally, the long-term test revealed that the catalytic activity and stability remained constant under a high concentration of CO2 in the feed gas for 19 h with an average CO conversion of 61.83%.

  • Here we describe a novel driving scheme in the form of negative AC bias stress (NAC) to compensate shift in the threshold voltage for hydrogenated amorphous silicon (${\alpha}$-Si:H) thin film transistor (TFT) for AMOLED applications. This scheme preserves the threshold voltage shift of ${\alpha}$-Si:H TFT for infinitely long duration of time(>30,000 hours) and thereby overall performance, without using any additional TFTs for compensation. We briefly describe about the possible driving schemes in order to implement for real time AMOLED applications. We attribute most of the results based on concept of plugging holes and electrons across the interface of the gate insulator in a controlled manner.

  • Korea announced GHG reduction goal, 30% reduction compare with 2020 BAU and reduction target for each industry sector is planning. Transportation sector also trying to make effective technical and political counterplan of allocated GHG reduction target such as material lightening, energy efficiency improvement and Modal shift technology and so on. Modal Shift is shifting low energy efficiency vehicle to high energy efficiency vehicle which is economically meaningful under current market conditions. We can get not only energy efficiency improvement but also GHG reduction effect through modal shift. Modal Shift is effectively applying and studied in logistics field in Europe and Japan and one of the Indian companies has been registered CDM project activity involving modal shift from roadways to railways for finished goods. In this study, the scenarios are developed with detail modal shift ratio and fuel type base on state of road and rail use and GHG emission factor for each fuel type from MLTM. This result can be used as basic information to improve policies and promote increasing use of train which is more environment friendly transportation vehicle.

천연가스의 수증기 개질에서 수성가스 전환용 충진층 반응기의 전산모사 (Packed Bed Reactor Simulation for the Water Gas Shift Reaction in the Steam Reforming of Natural Gas)

  • A 1-dimensional heterogeneous reactor model with the gas-solid interfacial phase gradients was developed for the simulation of the packed bed reactor where the exothermic reversible water gas shift reaction for the natural gas steam reformed gas was proceeding in adiabatic mode. Experimental results obtained over the WGS catalyst, C18-HA, were best simulated when the frequency factor of the reaction rate constant was adjusted to a half the value reported over another WGS catalyst, EX-2248, having the same kinds of active components as the C18-HA. For the reactor of the inside diameter 158.4 mm and the bed length 650 mm, the optimum feeding temperature of the reformed gas was simulated to be $194^{\circ}C$, giving the lowest CO content in the product gas by 1.68 mol% on the basis of dried gas. For reactors more extended in the bed length, the possible lowest CO content in the product gas with the optimum feeding temperature of the reformed gas were suggested.

  • Climate changes and environmental pollution problems are continuing every year. In Korea, the carbon dioxide(CO2) emissions by the transport sector reached around 20% of pollution. Many countries are enforcing the pollution-control policy. Korean government has introduced the modal shift grants as well as in other countries. In case of nation's transportation plan, the policy basis of green distribution is emphasized. However, the shipper and logistics company have low interests in the modal shift as the massive transportation system. The purpose of this paper is that I studied the policy alternatives for the modal shift of foreign railways., And also I studied the difficult problems at altering the railway freight from domestic road freight and I suggested the alternatives of modal shift to solve those problems.
