Objectives The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of Tuina treatment for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and to propose guidance to future studies or application in clinical setting. Methods The articles published from year 2000 to May 2021 by China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) were searched by setting up field as '中醫學', '中藥', '中西醫結合' and by setting up keyword as '小儿自閉症', '儿童自閉症', '自閉症譜系障碍', 'Autism', 'Autism spectrum disorder' that corresponds to participant and '推拿', '導引', '按摩', 'Tuina', 'massage'. Results Nine selected articles were analyzed and summarized by authors and year published, characteristics, diagnostic criteria, treatment methods and contents, treatment duration, evaluation criteria and results of the study. The articles were also reviewed by reported side effects, and evaluated the quality of the study according to Cochrane Handbook's Risk of Bias 2 (RoB 2) assessment of the Randomized Control Trial (RCT) articles. All studies used Tuina treatment to achieve effective results for pediatric autism spectrum disorder. Conclusion Pediatric Tuina treatment (TM) is a non-invasive treatment that does not stimulate patients with unstable ASD but increase patient adherence, and can be safely and simply operated. Therefore, pediatric Tuina treatment is worth utilizing as a clinical basis for further development of ASD treatment.
Objectives The purpose of this study is understanding the trend of clinical researches on the correlation between precocious puberty and sleep. Methods 18 papers were searched by using keywords 'Precious publicity' and 'Sleep' in Pubmed, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, and those were analyzed for this study. Results Children aged 6 to 18 were participated in longitudinal studies and questionnaire surveys. Hormone levels and EEG were also measured in those children. This study had placed emphasis on the sleeping time and sleep quality, and sex hormones secretion during sleep and changes in the hormone secretion related to the sleep cycles. Historically, oriental medicine studies have demonstrated that there were correlations between precocious puberty and sleep. There are studies from China showed the importance of lifestyle management in preventing and treating precocious puberty, especially with light exposure during sleep. Conclusions Sleep is closely correlated with precocious puberty and it is an important factor to be considered in the prevention and treatment of precocious puberty.

Objectives The purpose of this study is to analyze clinical studies on the effectiveness of TCM (traditional Chinese medicine) for pompholyx treatment and provide evidence for Korean medicine use. Methods Randomized controlled trials (RCT) which used TCM as a treatment for pompholyx were searched in China National Infrastructure (CNKI) platform. The risk of bias of studies was assessed by using Cochrane risk of bias (RoB) 2.0 tool. Results The selected 10 RCTs showed that the experimental group treated with either TCM alone or with a combination of TCM and Western medicine showed more significant therapeutic effect compared to the control group which Western medicine alone. Conclusions Based on the studies from China, TCM may be an effective treatment for pompholyx. This provides evidence for Korean medicine use, and its possible effectiveness in treating pompholyx
Objectives: This study evaluated the effectiveness of Sayeok-san for treating insomnia. Methods: We conducted a search using keywords, such as "Sayeoksan", "Si-ni-san", and "insomnia" in eight databases (CNKI, Wanfang, Pubmed, Embase, Cochrane, NDSL, OASIS, RISS) on July 17, 2012. There was no limit placed on the publication period of the papers, and we used Cochrane's risk of bias tool to assess their quality. Meta-analysis was classified according to the outcome measurements, such as total effective rate and PSQI. Results: Nine RCTs were selected. Meta-analysis showed that the treatment group, which used Sayeok-san, had a higher total effective rate than did the control group that used only Western medicine. The treatment group also had a lower average of PSQI and TSS (TCM symptom score) than did the control group. Conclusion: This study suggests that Sayeok-san is effective in treating insomnia. However, these findings should be interpreted cautiously due to unknown or high risk of bias of the included trials.

Objectives The purpose of this study is to analyze the trend of recent randomized controlled trials (RCTs) which used acupuncture for the treatment of intellectual disability in China, and to evaluate the efficacy of the treatment. Methods The RCTs published from January 2017 to July 2021 were searched using China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI). Then, those were analyzed by acupuncture treatment methods used and their results. Results A total of 18 randomized controlled trials were selected and analyzed. Most studies showed significantly higher Intelligence Quotient, Development Quotient, and a total effective rate in an acupuncture treatment group than those of the control group. The most used acupoints were EX-HN1 followed by Niesanzhen, Naosanzhen, Zhisanzhen, Shouzhizhen, GV20. Conclusions Based on the results of the analyzed randomized controlled trials, an acupuncture treatment has shown to be effective in the treatment of intellectual disability. However, additional well designed clinical trials are needed to solidify these findings.
Objectives: Pharmacopuncture is a treatment that medicinal fluid including herbal extract is injected in body under qi/flavor theory and meridian theories. There are a number of studies investigating the efficacy of pharmacopuncture for cervicogenic dizziness but its usage differs in each study. This study aimed to review previous studies of pharmacopuncture treatment for cervicogenic dizziness to navigate the direction of improvement. Methods: Literature review was conducted on studies aimed at pharmacopuncture for cervicogenic dizziness. The randomized controlled studies which assessed the efficacy of pharmacopuncture on cervicogenic dizziness were selected. The studies were searched in Pubmed, RISS, OASIS and CNKI. After selecting eligible studies, the authors read the articles and summarized the points those are necessary in pharmacopuncture treatment for cervicogenic dizziness. Results: Twenty seven studies and 2,709 participants were included. The diverse solutions were used and the most popular were Salvia miltiorrhiza, Angelica gigas, a compound in Gastrodia elata, Panax notoginseng saponins. Some studies investigated the efficacy of conventional medical compounds (lidocaine, vitamin B, dexamethasone) injected in acupoints. Adopting acupoints and combining with body acupuncture have shown the tendency to enhance the cure rate. Pharmacopuncture could improve the efficacy of conventional treatment for cervicogenic dizziness. Conclusion: As the solution and injection method varies, principles of pharmacopuncture for dizziness should be investigated.
Objectives: To evaluate the effectiveness and safety of application of Traditional East Asian Herbal Medicine (TEAM) in the treatment of Atrophic Vaginitis (AV). Methods: Randomized Controlled Trials (RCTs) were obtained from PubMed, Cochrane Library, Embase, CNKI, RISS, NDSL, and KISS. The risk of bias was assessed by using Cochrane's risk of bias tool, and RevMan 5.3 software was used. Results: 26 RCTs with 3,162 patients were identified and reviewed. Among them, 21 RCTs observe the effect of integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine. 23 RCTs reported treatment groups was statistically effective than control groups in the study. Also, the recurrence rate was estimated in 10 RCTs and was lower than control groups. 12 studies observed adverse events (AEs) and severe AEs were not reported. Conclusions: This review suggested that TEAM was safe and effective in the treatment of AV. TEAM may also decrease the recurrence rate. However, this could not be proven conclusively. To ensure evidence-based clinical practice, well-designed trials with larger sample sizes are needed.
Objectives: The purpose of this study is to review clinical studies of traditional Korean medicine treatment (herb medicine) on vaginal atrophy. Methods: Key words "Vaginal atrophy", "Vulvovaginal atrophy", "Vaginal dryness", "Atrophic vaginitis", "Herb medicine", "Acupuncture", "Moxibustion", "Catgut embedding" were searched on 11 database systems (PMC, CENTRAL, EMBASE, CNKI, KTKP, KISS, NDSL, OASIS, DBpia, KMBASE, RISS) on May 31th 2019. In all searches, limits were set for MeSH (human) and language (English, Chinese or Korean). The types of intervention were herbal medicine, and types of herbal medicine were decoction, cream, suppository, oil, ect. The study results and methods of intervention were analyzed. Conclusions: Among the 18 trials, 5 studies showed that herbal medicine with hormone or antiprotozoal therapy was more effective than hormone or antiprotozoal therapy alone. And 2 studies showed that herbal medicine treatment was more effective than oil treatment of topical use. There was no abnormal vaginal bleeding, breast swelling and pain in TCM group.
Objectives: The objective of this study is to analyze the Clinical reports of treatment of obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). Methods: Clinical reports on obsessive compulsive disorder treatment from 2001 to 2017 were searched using the following key words in the China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI). 'OCD', 'qiangpo zheng'. Results: A total of 22 papers were selected, 12 of which were clinical research papers and 10 case report papers. The acupuncture and moxa treatment was more effective in relieving the clinical symptoms of OCD patients as compared to only using western medicine, and it was also possible to reduce the adverse effects of western medicine. Conclusions: It was established that Traditional Chinese medicine has some effect on the treatment of OCD, but there were limitations as follows. The selected papers were retrieved from only one site of CKNI and did not follow a systematic review methodology. Therefore generalized results could not be derived, further studies should therefore be carried out.
