This paper describes the controller for the improving speed control the AC servo motor. The microprocessor provides an output to the difference in command. The servo system improves the characteristics of speed control. When the motor is running at the same speed as set by the reference signal, the speed encoder also provides a signal of the same frequency. Thus, the microprocessor controlled digital techniques enable to realize the flexible performance and control which was possible with time constant. We can know that optimal speed of machining center is 75msec in 30000mm/min and actually, 75msec is using on machining center. Finally experimental results prove excellent performance of this control system. This can be reduced error with more exact measure of actual speed. The system can be adaptable to CNC machine.

This paper presents adaptive cutting force control in milling process using indirect cutting force measurement. The cutting forces in X, Y, and Z axes are measured indirectly from the sensing current of the feed-drive servo motor. After modelling the feed-drive system of a horizontal machining center, the relation between the cutting force and the servo motor current is analyzed. The pulsating milling forces are measured from the sensing current within the bandwidth of the servo. It is shown that indirect cutting farce measurement can be used in adaptive cutting force control. The adaptive control scheme which is globally convergent and stable is attached to a commercial CNC machining center. Cutting experiments on end milling are performed for diagonal cutting.

The objective of this research is to develop a measurement error model for sculptured surfaces in On-Machine Measurement (OMM) process based on a closed-loop configuration. The geometric error model of each axis of a vertical CNC Machining center is derived using a 4${\times}$4 homogeneous transformation matrix. The ideal locations of a touch-type probe for the scupltured surface measurement are calculated from the parametric surface representation and X-, Y- directional geometric errors of the machine. Also, the actual coordinates of the probe are calculated by considering the pre-travel variation of a probe and Z-directional geometric errors. Then, the step-by-step measurement error analysis method is suggested based on a closed-loop configuration of the machining center including workpiece and probe errors. The simulation study shows the simplicity and effectiveness of the proposed error modeling strategy.

A real time error compensation system was developed to improve the quasistatic volumetric accuracy of a machining center by using sensing, metrology, modeling, and computer control techniques. Including thermal errors, 32 error components are formulated in the time-space domain. Fifteen thermal sensors are used to characterize the temperature field of the machine. A compensation controller based on the IBM/PC has been linked with a CNC controller to compensate for machine errors in real time. The maximum linear displacement error in 4 body diagonals were reduced from 140 ${\mu}m$ to 34.5${\mu}m$ with this compensation system, and the spindle thermal drift in space was reduced from 147.3 ${\mu}m$ to 16.8 ${\mu}m$.
Piecewise linear (G01-based) tool paths generated by CAM systems lack $G_1$ and $G_2$ continuity. The discontinuity causes vibration and unnecessary hesitation during machining. To ensure efficient high-speed machining, a method to improve the continuity of the tool paths is required, such as B-spline fitting that approximates G01 paths with B-spline curves. Conventional B-spline fitting approaches cannot be directly used for tool path B-spline fitting, because they have shortages such as numerical instability, lack of chord error constraint, and lack of assurance of a usable result. Progressive and Iterative Approximation for Least Squares (LSPIA) is an efficient method for data fitting that solves the numerical instability problem. However, it does not consider chord errors and needs more work to ensure ironclad results for commercial applications. In this paper, we use LSPIA method incorporating Energy term (ELSPIA) to avoid the numerical instability, and lower chord errors by using stretching energy term. We implement several algorithm improvements, including (1) an improved technique for initial control point determination over Dominant Point Method, (2) an algorithm that updates foot point parameters as needed, (3) analysis of the degrees of freedom of control points to insert new control points only when needed, (4) chord error refinement using a similar ELSPIA method with the above enhancements. The proposed approach can generate a shape-preserving B-spline curve. Experiments with data analysis and machining tests are presented for verification of quality and efficiency. Comparisons with other known solutions are included to evaluate the worthiness of the proposed solution.

The machining process of ceramics can be characterized by cracking and brittle fracture. In the machining of ceramics, edge chipping and crack propagation are the principal reasons to cause surface integrity deterioration. Such phenomenon can cause not only poor dimensional and geometric accuracy, but also possible failure of the ceramic parts. Thus, traditional ceramics are very difficult-to-cut materials. To overcome such problems, in this paper, h-BN powder, which gives good cutting property, is added for the fabrication of machinable ceramics by volume of 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30%. The objectives of this paper is to evaluate the fracture phenomenon of the tungsten carbide tool and the variation of surface integrity of the manufactured machinable ceramics under various cutting conditions during end mill machining With CNC machining center.

One of the major limitations of productivity and quality in metal cutting is the machining accuracy of machine tools. The machining accuracy is affected by geometric errors, thermally-induced errors, and the deterioration of the machine tools. Geometric and thermal errors of machine tools should be measured and compensated to manufacture high quality products. In metal cutting, the machining accuracy is more affected by thermal errors than by geometric errors. This paper models of the thermal errors for error analysis and develops on-the-machine measurement system by which the volumetric error are measured and compensated. The thermal error is modeled by means of angularity errors of a column and thermal drift error of the spindle unit which are measured by the touch probe unit with a star type styluses and a designed spherical ball artifact (SBA). Experiments, performed with the developed measurement system, show that the system provides a high measuring accuracy, with repeatability of $\pm$2${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ in X, Y and Z directions. It is believed that the developed measurement system can be also applied to the machine tools with CNC controller. In addition, machining accuracy and product quality can be improved by using the developed measurement system when the spherical ball artifact is mounted on the modular fixture.
This paper is a study about Ac servo motor position and speed control characteristics which depend on feedforward control, the acceleration / deceleration time constant after the interpolation, and PI control, automatic deceleration at corner in order to shape cutting control of feed drive system of the machine tool. The shape error caused by delay of the servo system in the direction of radius at the time of circular cutting is reduced by feedforward control. The shape error generated by the position command delay is minimized by using the acceleration / deceleration time constant after the interpolation. The results were verified to optical machining center experimentation of the machine tool.
This paper analyzes the characteristics of pre-sliding friction of an X-Y table of CNC machining center at velocity reversal, and presents a simple and effective method of friction compensation based on this characteristics. At velocity reversal, a large position tracking error occurs because of the discontinuous change of friction. The relationship between the occurrence time of maximum position tracking error and the acceleration at zero velocity is analyzed by using the spring-like friction model. Furthermore, the experimental observation verifies this relation. From this, the state transition tine from pre-sliding regime into sliding regime can be predicted. Using the predicted transition time, the friction can be effectively compensated and table experimental results show its effectiveness.
The importance of training for NC, CNC and Machining Center has been greatly increased. This paper presents implementation of a DNC(Direct Numerical Control) operating software for educational system. This system is able to connect 8-32 CNCs to Control PC with RS232 multi-port serial card. Therefore, it allows much efficiency in training even after costs are considered. The KISCO DNC S/W for above system includes various communication functions, communication parameters setting, program editor and user-friendly environment. This software was developed with C and Windows programming. It was proved in function and stability by iterative field tests.
