This paper develops the piece creation of Hull-structure using PC(Personal Computer) which is from CADRA of graphic program. Large-sized shipbuilding yard was carried out on the development of CNC(Computer Numerical Control) auto cutting system used in super S/W such as AUTODEF, TRIBON. But this system needs lots of expenses and high technician, and only used in large-sized shipbuilding yard, not medium-sized and small-sized shipbuilding yard. To bring up the small and medium-sized ship building yard lacking a little competitive power. Small and medium-sized shipbuilding yard need the piece creation of Hull Structure S/W which is joined with the CADRA. Therefore the piece creation of Hull-Structure S/W is developed to joined with the CADRA of graphic S/W to create the piece to be needed on as auto cutting process using PC.

Nowadays the widely used media in architecture include visualizations, animations and three-dimensional models. 3D digital methods using active CAM(Computer Aided Manufacturing) and CNC(Computerized Numerical Control) imaging have been developed for accurate shape and 3D measurements in freeform buildings. In contrast to a conventional building using auto CAD system and others, the proposed digital optimization method is based on a combination of 3D numerical data and parametric 3D model for design and construction. The objective of this paper is therefore to present digital optimization process for constructability of freeform building. The method can be useful in the effective implementation of an error-proofing process of freeform building during design and construction phase. 3D digital coordinate data can be used effectively to identify correct size of structural and finish members and installation location of each members in construction field. In addition, architects, engineers and contractors can evaluate design, materials, constructability and identify error-proofing opportunities. Other project participants can also include representatives from all levels of management, departments as well as workers and key subcontractors' personnel, if necessary. The 3D digital optimization process is therefore appropriate to serious variations in freeform shape. For future study, the developed digital optimization method is necessary to be carried out to verify the robustness and accuracy for constructability in construction field.

The classical computer numerical control (CNC) machine is widely used for mold making in various industries. However, while improving the process, it has a negative effect on production quality and worker safety. As a result, the complaints of workers have increased and production quality has decreased. Therefore, we found optimizing cutting conditions to mold industrials for cutting conditions commonly used. However, the problem is the insert tool geometric modeling. In this study, the modeling of an insert tool was performed using the Solidworks program. The insert tool model was imported into the analysis application AdvantEdge, which predicted cutting forces, tool stress, and temperature.

Manufacturers of aircraft engines have introduced computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) software to operate and control computerized numerical control (CNC) machine tools. However, the generation of a CAM model is a time consuming and error-prone task since machining procedure and operational details are manually defined. For the automatic generation of a CAM model, feature recognition techniques have been widely studied. However, their recognition coverage is limited so that complex shapes such as a jet engine cannot be fully developed. This study presents a novel approach to quickly generate a CAM model from a CAD model using shape search techniques. Once an operator sets a machining operation as a reference operation, the same shapes as the shapes referenced by the operation are searched. The reference operation is copied to the positions of the searched shapes. The proposed method was verified through experiments with a jet engine compressor case.

We present results of optical design and fabrication of a light guiding plate (LGP) to be used as an illumination system for photobioreactors. Modeling of a light-emitting diode (LED) light source, a reflection film, and LGP patterns was performed. Especially, the LGP patterns were modeled as Lambertian scatterers. The modeling parameters (reflectance, scatterer width) were determined through matching simulations with the experimentally measured illuminance distribution for a test LGP. An LGP for an LED light source was designed with the extracted model parameters, and fabricated using a computerized numerical control machine. Optical characteristics including average illuminance and uniformity of illuminance distribution were measured for the fabricated LGP.

In this study, a 2W micro-gas turbine engine was designed using micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS) technology, and experimental investigations of its potential under actual combustion conditions were performed. A micro-gas turbine (MGT) contains a turbo-charger, combustor, and generator. Compressor and turbine blades, and generator coil were manufactured using MEMS technology. The shaft was supported by a precision computer numerical control (CNC) machined static air bearing, and a permanent magnet was attached to the end of the shaft for generation. A heat transfer analysis found that the cooling effect of the air bearing and compressor was sufficient to cover the combustor's high temperature, which was verified in an actual experiment. The generator performance test showed that it can generate 2W at design rotational speed. Prototype micro-gas turbine generated maximum 1 mW electric power and lasted up to 15 minutes.

Cold gas dynamic spray or cold spray is a novel manufacturing method for coatings. Cold spray is a high rate and direct material deposition process that utilizes the kinetic energy of particles sprayed at high velocity (300-1,200m/s). In this research, a technique to repair the damaged mold by cold spray deposition and mechanical machining was proposed. An aluminum 6061 mold with three-dimensional surface was fabricated, intentionally damaged and material-added by cold spray, and its original geometry was re-obtained successfully by Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machining. To investigate deformation of material caused by cold spray, deposition was conducted on thin aluminum plates ($100mm{\times}100mm{\times}3mm$). The average deformation of the plates was $205{\sim}290{\mu}m$ by Coordinate Measurement Machine (CMM). In addition, the cross section of deposited layer was analyzed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). To compare variation of hardness, Vickers hardness was measured by micro-hardness tester.
The present study conducts experimental investigation on spreading and deposition characteristics of a $4.3{\mu}l$ de-ionized (DI) water droplet impacting upon aluminum (Al 6061) flat and textured surfaces. The micro-textured surface consisted the micro-hole arrays (hole diameter: $125{\mu}m$, hole depth: $125{\mu}m$) fabricated by the conventional micro-computer numerical control (${\mu}$-CNC) milling machine process. We examined the surface effect of texture area fraction ${\varphi}_s$ ranging from 0 to 0.57 and impact velocity of droplet ranging from 0.40 m/s to 1.45 m/s on spreading and deposition characteristics from captured images. We used a high-speed camera to capture sequential images for investigate spreading characteristics and the image sensor to capture image of final equilibrium deposition droplet for analyze spreading diameter and contact angle. We found that the deposition droplet on textured surfaces have different wetting states. When the impact velocity is low, the non-wetting state partially exists, whereas over 0.64 m/s of impact velocity, totally wetting state is more prominent due to the increase kinetic energy of impinging droplet.

Objectives: The purpose of this case study is to assess workers' exposure to carbon nanotubes(CNTs) and characterize particles aerosolized during the process of producing CNT-enabled polytetrafuoroethylene(PTFE) composites at a worksite in Korea. Methods: Personal breathing zone and area samples were collected for determining respirable concentrations of elemental carbon(EC) using NIOSH(National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health) Method 5040. Personal exposure to nano-sized particles was measured as the number concentration and mean diameter using personal ultrafine particle monitors. The number concentration by particle size was measured using optical particle sizers(OPS) and scanning mobility particle sizers(SMPS). Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) area samples were collected on TEM grids and analyzed to characterize the size, morphology, and chemistry of the particles. Results: Respirable EC concentrations ranged from 0.04 to 0.24 ㎍/㎥, which were below 23% of the exposure limit recommended by NIOSH and lower than background concentrations. Number concentrations by particle size measured using OPS and SMPS were not noticeably elevated during CNT-PTFE composite work. Instant increase of number concentrations of nano-sized particles was observed during manual sanding of CNT-PTFE composites. Both number concentrations and mean diameters did not show a statistically significant difference between workers handing CNT-added and not-added materials. TEM analyses revealed the emission of free-standing CNTs and CNT-PTFE aggregate particles from the powder supply task and composite particles embedded with CNTs from the computer numerical control(CNC) machining task with more than tens of micrometers in diameter. No free-standing CNT particles were observed from the CNC machining task. Conclusions: Significant worker exposure to respirable CNTs was not found, but the aerosolization of CNTs and CNT-embedded composite particles were observed during handing of CNT-PTFE powders and CNC machining of CNT-PTFE composites. Considering the limited knowledge on the toxicity of CNTs and CNT composite particles to date, it seems prudent to take a precautionary approach for the protection of workers' health.

Electron beam melting (EBM) is one of powder based additive manufacturing technology used to produce parts for high geometrical complexity and directly with three-dimensional computer aided design (CAD) model. It is kind of the most promising methods with additive manufacturing for a wide range of medical applications, such as orthopedic, dental implant, and etc. This research has been investigated the microstructure and mechanical properties of as fabricated and hot iso-static pressing (HIP) processed specimens, which are made by an Arcam A1 EBM system. The Ti-6Al-4V titanium alloy powder was used as a material for the 3 dimensional printing specimens. Mechanical properties were conducted with EBM manufacturing and computer numerical control (CNC) machining specimens, respectively. Surface morphological analysis was conducted by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) for their surface, dissected plan, and fractured surface after tensile test. The mechanical properties were included tensile stress-strain and nano-indentation test as a analysis level between nano and macro. As following highlighted results, the stress-strain curves on elastic region were almost similar between as fabricated and HIP processed while the ductile (plastic deformed region) properties were higher with HIP than that of as fabricated processed.
