  • The purpose of this study focuses on the prediction time and location of turning-point of typhoon tracks using the water vapor images of Communication, Ocean and Meteorological Satellite (COMS) which has a very short observation interval. It targets a more accurate prediction of turning-point of typhoon tracks through the relationship between dry slot and northern/southern oscillations of jet stream. Jet stream moves by the position of jet streak and the ${\upsilon}$-component velocity of geostrophic wind. If the ${\upsilon}$-component of geostrophic wind gets stronger toward south, jet stream develops into a circular jet. In that condition, dry slot in satellite water vapor imagery extends toward south, and typhoon track turns as the distance of curved moisture band (CMB) gets narrowed down. If the interval of CMB is below $15^{\circ}$ of latitude, the typhoon track is turning toward north or northeast within 24 hours. As a result, typhoon track showed that when dry slot position was located less than $32^{\circ}N$, typhoon turned its track at $20-23^{\circ}N$ ($1^{th}$ Kong-Rey 2007 and $17^{th}$ Jelawt at 2012), and when in $35^{\circ}N$ above, it turned at $27^{\circ}N$ ($4^{th}$ Man-yi 2007).

  • Powdery mildew is known to be one of the serious diseases in C. moschata cultivation. Plants infected with powdery mildew cause damage to cultivation areas such as occurrence of deformity fruit and decrease in quantity. also, it has been reported that many farms have difficulties in controlling powdery mildew due to the outbreak under various conditions throughout the year. Therefore, this study intends to perform a phenotype test and a genotype test for C. moschata 60 lines grown in Jenong S&T. Podospareaxanthii, known as a pathogen that causes powder mildew disease in pumpkins in Korea, was collected and used as an inoculation source, phenotype test was performed by examining the infection area rate(%) of powdery mildew disease that occurred in leaves 25 days after inoculation. It was determined that 0% of the infection area rate was in the first stage, 1 to 5% in the second stage, 6 to 15% in the third stage, 16 to 30% in the fourth stage, and 31% or more in the fifth stage, The first and second stages were judged as resistance, the third as moderate resistance, and the fourth and fifth stages as sensitivity. As a result of the phenotype test, it was confirmed that the resistance was 21 points, moderate resistance was 14 points, and sensitivity was 25 points. After searching for the genes related to powdery mildew resistance resistance, pm-0, CmbHLH87, and LOC111453072, 21 points of resistance and 9 points of moderate resistance identified through phenotype tests were identified through gel electrophoresis after polymerase chain reaction(PCR) using 5 primers related to 3 genes. As a result of genotype testing of a total 30 points, the CmbHLH87 and LOC111453072 gene were found to be resistant bands in all points, PMR1 was identified as 20 points for resistance, 4 points for moderate resistance, and 6 points for sensitivity, PMR2 was not identified in the entire band, and PMR5 was identified as 18 point for resistance, 3 points for moderate resistance, and 9 points for sensitivity. As a result, when comparing the phenotype test results and genotype test results, CmbHLH87 and LOC111453072 genes was 100% consistent in resistance and moderate resistance, PMR1 was 95.2% in resistance, 44.4% in moderate resistance, and PMR5 was 90% in resistance and 33.3% in moderate resistance, PMR2 was not consistent in resistance and moderate resistance. Therefore, it is expected that more accurate PMR test will be possible by using molecular markers(PMR1, PMR5) and by developing CmbHLH87 and LOC111453072 gene-related molecular markers.

  • Cytosine deaminase (cytosine aminohydrolase, EC 3.5.4.1) stoichiometrically catalyzes the hydrolytic deamination of cytosine and 5-fluorocytosine to uracil and 5-fluorouracil, respectively. Amino acid residues located in or near the active sites of the intracellular cytosine deaminase from chromobacterium violaceum YK 391 were identified by chemical modification studies. The enzymic activity was completely inhibited by chemical modifiers, such as 1mM NBS, chloramine-T, $\rho-CMB,\;\rho-HMB$ and iodine, and was strongly inhibited by 1mM PMSF and pyridoxal 5'-phosphate. This chemical deactivation of the enzymic activity was reversed by a high concentration of cytosine. Furthermore, the deactivation of the enzymic activity by $\rho-CMB$ was also reversed by 1mM cysteine-HCI, DTT and 2-mercaptoethanol. These results suggested that cysteine, tryptophan and methionine residues might be located in or near the active sites of the enzyme, while serine and lysine were indirectly involved in the enzymic activity. The intracellular cytosine deaminase from C violaceum YK 391 was assumed to be a thiol enzyme.

  • If the present universe is slightly open then pre-inflation curvature would appear as a cosmic dark-flow component of the CMB dipole moment. We summarize current cosmological constraints on this cosmic dark flow and analyze the possible constraints on parameters characterizing the pre-inflating universe in an inflation model with a present-day very slightly open ${\Lambda}CDM$ cosmology. We employ an analytic model to show that for a broad class of inflation-generating effective potentials, the simple requirement that the observed dipole moment represents the pre-inflation curvature as it enters the horizon allows one to set upper and lower limits on the magnitude and wavelength scale of pre-inflation fluctuations in the inflaton field and the curvature parameter of the pre-inflation universe, as a function of the fraction of the total initial energy density in the inflaton field. We estimate that if the current CMB dipole is a universal dark flow (or if it is near the upper limit set by the Planck Collaboration) then the present constraints on ${\Lambda}CDM$ cosmological parameters imply rather small curvature ${\Omega}_k{\sim}0.1$ for the pre-inflating universe for a broad range of the fraction of the total energy in the inflaton field at the onset of inflation. Such small pre-inflation curvature might be indicative of open-inflation models in which there are two epochs of inflation.

  • This paper proposes a new SoC (System-on-Chip)-based automatic compensation circuit (ACC) for 5GHz low noise amplifier (LNA). This circuit is extremely useful for today's RF IC (Radio Frequency Integrated Circuit) devices in a complete RF transceiver environment. The circuit contains RF BIST (Built-ln Self-Test) circuit, Capacitor Mirror Banks (CMB) and digital processing unit (DPU). The ACC automatically adjusts performance of 5GHz LNA by the processor in the SoC transceiver when the LNA goes out of the normal range of operation.

  • The current 'standard model' of cosmology provides a minimal theoretical framework that can explain the gaussian, nearly scale-invariant density perturbations observed in the CMB to the late time clustering of galaxies. However accepting this framework, requires that we include within our cosmic inventory a vacuum energy that is ~122 orders of magnitude lower than Quantum Mechanical predictions, or alternatively a new scalar field (dark energy) that has negative pressure. An alternative approach to adding extra components to the Universe would be to modify the equations of Gravity. Although GR is supported by many current observations there are still alternative models that can be considered. Recently there have been many works attempting to test for modified gravity using the large scale clustering of galaxies, ISW, cluster abundance, RSD, 21cm observations, and weak lensing. In this work, we compare various modified gravity models using cosmic shear data from the Deep Lens Survey as well as data from CMB, SNe Ia, and BAO. We use the Bayesian Evidence to quantify the comparison robustly, which naturally penalizes complex models with weak data support. In this talk we present our methodology and preliminary results that show f(R) gravity is mildly disfavoured by the data.

  • Essential amino acids involving in the active site ofthe cytidn~e deruninase from Bncillus subtilis ED 213 were determined by chemical modification studies. Tllc purified cytidine deruninase tiom Booillus subtilis ED 213 required the reduced form of Fe(lI)ion. since the enzyme was inhibited 43% by 1 mnM o-phenanthroline. Whereas the enzyme activity was activated up to 28% by 1 1 ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid. The cytidine deaninase activily was completely inhibited by 1 mM N-bromosuccinimide, chloramine-T, and p-chloromercuribenzoic acid (p-CMB), respectively. The enzyme activity was inhibited 36% by 1 mM pyridoxal-S-phosphale, and 31% by 1 mM l-ethy~-3-(3-dirneIhj~laminoprop}~~)c~bodiiamide and glycine inethyl ester. The enzyme activity was strongly inhibited 68% by 1 \mu$M \rho$-CMB and this inhibition of the enzyme activity with 1 \mu$M \rho$-CMB was completely reactivated by 5 mM cysleine as a reducing agent. We speculaled that tyrosine, methionine, cysteuie and/or serine residues are located ui or near ihe active site of the cytidine deruniuase from Bncilus subrilis ED 213 and indirectly related to lysine and/or glycine.

  • Electro-electrodialysis of hydriodic acid with HI molality of ca. 9.5 $mol/kg-H_2O$ was examined in the presence of iodine using a commercial cation exchange membrane, CMB, as a separator. For the increase of the selectivity of proton permeation, the membrane was radiation-treated by accelerated electron radiation. The membrane properties (area resistance, ion exchange capacity, water content) of the radiation-treated membranes were measured. The area resistance in 2 $mol/dm^3$ KCl solution, ion exchange capacity and water content of the radiation-treated membranes at each dose rate dad almost the same value as that of the non-treated membrane (original of CMB membrane). Electro-electrodialysis of hydriodic acid with HI molality of ca. 9.5 $mol/kg-H_2O$ was examined at $75^{\circ}C$ with 9.6 $A/dm^2$. The radiation-treated cation exchange membrane by accelerated electron radiation had higher selectivity of the proton permeation by cross-linking structure of polymer than that of the non-treated membrane.
