NaCl + CaCl2 + H2O 및 KCl + CaCl2 + H2O 삼성분계에 대한 50℃에서의 용해도 측정 (Measurement of Solubilities in the Ternary System NaCl + CaCl2 + H2O and KCl + CaCl2 + H2O at 50℃)

  • NaCl-$CaCl_2$-$H_2O$와 KCl-$CaCl_2$-$H_2O$계의 용해도와 물리화학적 성질(굴절률)을 $50^{\circ}C$에서 측정하였으며, 그 결과를 상평형 그림과 조성에 따른 물리화학적 성질에 대한 도표로 나타내었다. 삼성분계의 상 평형 그림은 불변점이 하나, 일변수 곡선이 둘, NaCl (또는 KCl) 및 $CaCl_2{\cdot}2H_2O$에 대응되는 결정화 지역이 두 개가 있음을 보여주었다. 이들 계에 대하여 혼합 파라미터인 ${\theta}_{M,Ca}$${\Psi}_{M,Ca,Cl}$ (M = Na or K), 평형상수 $K_{sp}$를 최소제곱법을 이용하여 결정하였으며, 이때, NaCl, KCl 및 $CaCl_2$의 단일-염 Pitzer 파라미터 ${\beta}^{(0)}$, ${\beta}^{(1)}$, ${\beta}^{(2)}$ and $C^{\Phi}$는 참고문헌을 통하여 직접 계산하였다. 이 결과들은 실험결과와 잘 일치하였다.

Ultra-Fast L2-CL Code Acquisition for a Dual Band GPS Receiver

  • GPS L2C signal is a recently added civil signal to L2 frequency and is constructed by time division multiplexing of civil moderate (L2-CM) and civil long (L2-CL) code signals. While the L2-CM code is 20 ms-periodic and modulates satellite navigation message, the L2-CL code is 1.5s-periodic with 767,250 chips long code sequence and carries no data. Therefore, the L2-CL code signal allows receivers to perform a very long coherent integration. However, due to the length of the L2-CL code, the acquisition of the L2-CL code signal may take too long or require too much hardware resources. In this paper, we propose a three-step ultra-fast L2-CL code acquisition (TSCLA) technique for dual band GPS receivers. In the proposed TSCLA technique, a dual band GPS receiver sequentially acquires the coarse/acquisition (C/A) code signal at L1 frequency, the L2-CM code signal, and the L2-CL code signal to minimize mean acquisition time (MAT). The theoretical performance analysis and numerous Monte Carlo simulations show the significant advantage of the proposed TSCLA technique over conventional techniques introduced in the literature.

Thermodynamic Calculations on the Chemical Behavior of SrO During Electrolytic Oxide Reduction

  • Strontium is known as a salt-soluble element during the electrolytic oxide reduction (EOR) process. The chemical behavior of SrO during EOR was investigated via thermodynamic calculations to provide quantitative data on the chemical status of Sr. To achieve this, thermodynamic calculations were conducted using HSC chemistry software for various EOR conditions. It was revealed that SrO reacts with LiCl salt to produce SrCl2, even in the presence of Li2O, and that the ratio of SrCl2 depends on the initial concentration of Li2O dissolved in LiCl. It was found that SrO reacts with Li to produce Sr during EOR and that the reduced Sr reacts with LiCl salt to produce SrCl2. As a result, the proportions of metallic forms were lower in Sr than in La and Nd under various EOR conditions. The thermodynamic calculations indicated that the three chemical forms of SrO, SrCl2, and Sr co-exist in the EOR system under an equilibrium with Li, Li2O, and LiCl.

Aqueous Chlorine Dioxide Treatment Improves the Shelf Life of Panax ginseng C.A. Meyer

  • Effect of aqueous chlorine dioxide $(ClO_2)$ treatment on the quality change of fresh ginseng during storage was examined. Fresh ginseng samples were treated with 0, 50, and 100 ppm of $ClO_2$ solution, respectively, and stored at $4^{\circ}C$. Microbiological data of the fresh ginseng after $ClO_2$ treatment revealed that the populations of total aerobic bacteria, and yeast and mold were significantly reduced with the increase of $ClO_2$ concentration. In particular, the populations of total aerobic bacteria, and yeast and mold in the fresh ginseng decreased by 2.1 and 1.2 log CFU/g at 100 ppm $ClO_2$ treatment, respectively. Aqueous $ClO_2$ treatment improved the color of the fresh ginseng during storage, but there was no significant difference in weight loss during storage among treatments. Sensory evaluation results represented that the qualities of the fresh ginseng treated with aqueous $ClO_2$ during storage were better than those of the control. These results clearly indicate that aqueous $ClO_2$ treatment could be useful in decreasing the microbial growth and extending the shelf life of fresh ginseng.

Synthesis of m-Oxo and Bis( m-alkoxo) Bridged Diiron(III) Complexes Using a Tripodal Ligand, Bis(2-benzimidazolylmethy)ethanolamine

  • A $\mu-oxo$ diiron(III) complex and two bis( $\mu-alkoxo)$ diiron(III) complexes with biomimetic tripodal ligand containing mixed N/O donor atoms were synthesized using a mononuclear iron(III) complex as starting material. Depending on the amounts and kinds of bases used, we obtained various kinds of diiron (III) complexes. The reaction of $[$Fe^{III}$(Hbbea)Cl_2]Cl$, 1, with an equivalent amount of $KO_2$ or NaOAc produced $[$Fe^{III}$_2O(Hb-bea)_2Cl_2]Cl_2$, 2. An additional equivalent amount of NaOBz or NaOAc converts complex 2 to complex 3 or complex 4 depending on the base used. The addition of two equivalent amounts of NaOBz orNaOAc directly converts complex 1 to $[$Fe^{III}$_2(bbea)_2(OBz)_2]Cl_2$, 3, or $[$Fe^{III}$_2(bbea)_2(OAc)_2]Cl_2$, 4, depending on the base used. Crystal data are as follows: [$Fe^{III}_2O(Hbbea)_2Cl_2]Cl_2$, 2: monoclinic space group $$P2_1/n$$, a = 8.421 (1) $\AA$, b = 18.416 (2) $\AA$, c = 13.736 (1) $\AA$, $\beta$ = 104.870 $(7)^{\circ}$, V = 2058.9 (4) $\AA^3$, Z = 2, R1 = 0.0469 and wR2 = 0.1201 for reflections with I > 2 ${\sigma}$(I).

SEPARATION OF STRONTIUM AND CESIUM FROM TERNARY AND QUATERNARY LITHIUM CHLORIDE-POTASSIUM CHLORIDE SALTS VIA MELT CRYSTALLIZATION

  • Separation of cesium chloride (CsCl) and strontium chloride ($SrCl_2$) from the lithium chloride-potassium chloride (LiCl-KCl) salt was studied using a melt crystallization process similar to the reverse vertical Bridgeman growth technique. A ternary $SrCl_2-LiCl-KCl$ salt was explored at similar growth rates (1.8-5 mm/h) and compared with CsCl ternary results to identify similarities. Quaternary experiments were also conducted and compared with the ternary cases to identify trends and possible limitations to the separations process. In the ternary case, as much as 68% of the total salt could be recycled per batch process. In the quaternary experiments, separation of Cs and Sr was nearly identical at the slower rates; however, as the growth rate increased, $SrCl_2$ separated more easily than CsCl. The quaternary results show less separation and rate dependence than in both ternary cases. As an estimated result, only 51% of the total salt could be recycled per batch. Furthermore, two models have been explored to further understand the growth process and separation. A comparison of the experimental and modeling results reveals that the nonmixed model fits reasonably well with the ternary and quaternary data sets. A dimensional analysis was performed and a correlation was identified to semipredict the segregation coefficient.

  • 층상 구조인 유기-무기 혼성 화합물인 ($C_6H_5CH_2NH_3)_2CuCl_4$ 와($NH_3C_6/H_4C_2H_4_6/H_4NH_3)CuCl_4$를 직접 합성하였다. X-선 회절 데이터와 유기분자의 길이로부터 층간 삽입된 유기화합물인 아민의 배열을 결정하였다. 무기화합물 층은 정육면체 구석을 공유하고 있는 염화구리의 $CuCl_4^{2-}$ 층으로 구성되어 있다. ($C_6/H_5/CH_2NH_3)_2CuCl_4$의 경우는 양성자화 된 유기화합물 아민이 $CuCl_4^{2-}$ 층 안에 이중 층 구조로 삽입되어 있고, ($NH_3C_6/H_4C_2H_4C_6H_4NH_3)CuCl_4$의 경우는 단일 층 구조로 삽입되어있다.

서울시내 대중식사중 식염함량에 대한 조사연구 (A Survey on the Sodium Chloride Content of Common Restaurant Meals in Seoul Area)

  • 한국인의 식염섭취량 조사의 일환으로 서울 시내의 대중음식점에서 판매되는 식사중 NaCl의 함량을 식염 농도계로 정량하였다. 시료는 설렁탕(혹은 갈비탕), 육개장, 된장찌게백반, 비빔밥, 비빔냉면이었으며, 이들 식사로부터 섭취하게 되는 NaCl의 평균함량을 계산하고 이를 근거로 1일 1인당 총섭취량을 추정하였다. 전 지역의 식사시료중 된장찌게백반의 NaCl함량이 제일 높았고, 고형물과 국물로 나누어 보았을때 된장찌게백반에서 고형물 보다 국물의 NaCl함량이 더 높은 것으로 나타났다. 강남, 강북지역으로 나누어 지역간의 차이를 살펴본 결과, 차이는 나타나지 않았다. 대중식사 한 식사당 NaCl의 평균 함량은 10.6g이었으며, 세끼를 모두 대중식사로부터 섭취한다고 가정할 경우 섭취하게 되는 NaCl의 1일 성인 1인당 총섭취량은 약 28.5g으로 추산되었다.

  • 염산농도 0.001에서 10 M사이의 범위에서 백금(IV)과 팔라듐(II) 및 로듐(III)의 착물형성반응과 물질수지를 고려하여 각 금속의 분배곡선을 구했다. 염산농도가 0.1 M이상인 조건에서는 백금과 팔라듐의 대부분은 $PtCl_6^{2-}$$PdCl_2^{2-}$로 존재하였다. 로듐의 농도분포는 염산농도에 큰 영향을 받는다. 염산농도가 0.1에서 10 M로 증가함에 따라 로듐의 주 화학종이 $PhCl_5^{2-}$에서 $PhCl_6^{3-}$로 변했다. 문헌에 발표된 백금과 팔라듐의 용매추출자료로부터 $PtCl_6^{2-}$$PtCl_4^{2-}$와 수소이온간의 매개변수를 추산했다.

  • 벤조산과 그 유도체들에 대한 음이온 교환분리를 여러 농도의 염화니켈-메탄올 용매 내에서 연구하였다. Amberlite CG-400, $Cl^-$ form에 대한 유기산들의 부피분배계수를 측정하고 이 분배계수로부터 제시된 적절한 농도의 $NiCl_2-MeOH$ 용액을 용리액으로 사용하여 몇 개의 혼합유기산을 정량적으로 분리하였다. 모든 유기산들의 농도는 자외선 분광광도계를 사용하여 정량하였다.
