  • In this paper, we introduce a novel approach to enhance document security by integrating Computer Generated Hologram(CGH) encryption technology with a system for document encryption, printing, and subsequent verification using a smartphone application. The proposed system enables the encryption of documents using CGH technology and their printing on the edges of the document, simplifying document verification and validation through a smartphone application. Furthermore, the system leverages high-resolution smartphone cameras to perform online verification of the original document and supports offline document decryption, ensuring tamper detection even in environments without internet connectivity. This research contributes to the development of a comprehensive and versatile solution for document security and integrity, with applications in various domains.

  • High-resolution digital holograms can be quickly generated by using a PC cluster that is based on server-client architecture and is composed of several GPU-equipped PCs. However, the data transmission time between PCs becomes a large obstacle for fast generation of video holograms because it linearly increases in proportion to the number of frames. To resolve the problem with the increase of data transmission time, this paper proposes a multi-threading-based method. Hologram generation in each client PC basically consists of three processes: acquisition of light sources, CGH operation using GPUs, and transmission of the result to the server PC. Unlike the previous method that sequentially executes the processes, the proposed method executes in parallel them by multi-threading and thus can significantly reduce the proportion of the data transmission time to the total hologram generation time. Through experiments, it was confirmed that the total generation time of a high-resolution video hologram with 150 frames can be reduced by about 30%.

  • A bacterium CGH18 exhibiting antioxidizing and chitin-degrading activities in the colloidal chitin culture medium was isolated from salt-fermented crab. This strain was identified as Bacillus idriensis based on 16S rDNA sequence homology search. Its crude extract was partitioned between n-BuOH and $H_2O$. The organic layer was further partitioned between $CH_2$ $Cl_2$ and $H_2O$. Antioxidant activities of crude extract and its solvent fractions were evaluated using five different bioassay methods, including the degree of occurrence of intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS), peroxynitrite scavenging (ONOO), and oxidative damage of genomic DNA. All fractions exhibited significant antioxidant activity in bioassay systems used.

  • Alignment of the mirrors composing a space telescope is an important process for obtaining high optical resolution and performance of the camera system. The alignment of mirrors using cube mirrors requires a relative coordinate mapping between the mirror and the cube mirror before optical-system integration. Therefore, to align the spacecraft camera mirrors, the relative coordinates of the vertex of each mirror and the corresponding cube mirror must be accurately measured. This paper proposes a new method for finding the vertex position of a primary mirror, by using an optical fiber and alignment segments of a computer-generated hologram (CGH). The measurement system is composed of an optical testing interferometer and a multimode optical fiber. We used two theodolites to measure the relative coordinates of the optical fiber located at the mirror vertex with respect to the cube mirror, and achieved a measurement precision of better than $25{\mu}m$.

  • Deletions of 14q including band 14q32.33 are uncommon. Patients with terminal deletions of chromosome 14 usually share a number of clinical features. By molecular techniques (array comparative genomic hybridization (CGH) and fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH), we identified a young girl with 0.3 Mb terminal 14q32.33 deletion. Review of the nine cases with pure terminal 14q32.3 deletions described to date documented that our observation is the smallest terminal 14q deletion ever reported. The phenotype of our patient is much less severe than the phenotypes of the patients reported previously. We report our experience in examining the clinical, behavioral, and cognitive findings in a 5-year-old girl studied with chromosomal microarray hybridization and reviewed previously reported patients with 14q32 deletions.

  • In this paper, we propose a method for optimizing a computer-generated hologram(CGH) by combining the Tabu Search(TS) algorithm with the Simulated Annealing(SA) algorithm. By replacing an initial random pattern of the SA algorithm with an approximately ideal hologram pattern of the TS algorithm, we design a CGH which has high diffraction efficiency(DE). We compared the performance of the proposed algorithm with the SA algorithm using computer simulation and an optical experiment. As a result, we confirmed diffraction efficiency and uniformity to be enhanced in the proposed algorithm.

  • All cancers are caused by abnormalities in DNA sequence. Throughout life, the DNA in human cells is exposed to mutagens and suffers mistakes in replication, resulting in progressive, subtle changes in the DNA sequence in each cell. Since the development of conventional and molecular cytogenetic methods to the analysis of chromosomal aberrations in cancers, more than 1,800 recurring chromosomal breakpoints have been identified. These breakpoints and regions of nonrandom copy number changes typically point to the location of genes involved in cancer initiation and progression. With the introduction of molecular cytogenetic methodologies based on fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH), namely, comparative genomic hybridization (CGH) and multicolor FISH (m-FISH) in carcinomas become susceptible to analysis. Conventional CGH has been widely applied for the detection of genomic imbalances in tumor cells, and used normal metaphase chromosomes as targets for the mapping of copy number changes. However, this limits the mapping of such imbalances to the resolution limit of metaphase chromosomes (usually 10 to 20 Mb). Efforts to increase this resolution have led to the "new"concept of genomic DNA chip (1 to 2 Mb), whereby the chromosomal target is replaced with cloned DNA immobilized on such as glass slides. The resulting resolution then depends on the size of the immobilized DNA fragments. We have completed the first draft of its Korean Genome Project. The project proceeded by end sequencing inserts from a library of 96,768 bacterial artificial chromosomes (BACs) containing genomic DNA fragments from Korean ethnicity. The sequenced BAC ends were then compared to the Human Genome Project′s publicly available sequence database and aligned according to known cancer gene sequences. These BAC clones were biotinylated by nick translation, hybridized to cytogenetic preparations of metaphase cells, and detected with fluorescein-conjugated avidin. Only locations of unique or low-copy Portions of the clone are identified, because high-copy interspersed repetitive sequences in the probe were suppressed by the addition of unlabelled Cotl DNA. Banding patterns were produced using DAPI. By this means, every BAC fragment has been matched to its appropriate chromosomal location. We have placed 86 (156 BAC clones) cytogenetically defined landmarks to help with the characterization of known cancer genes. Microarray techniques would be applied in CGH by replacement of metaphase chromosome to arrayed BAC confirming in oncogene and tumor suppressor gene: and an array BAC clones from the collection is used to perform a genome-wide scan for segmental aneuploidy by array-CGH. Therefore, the genomic DNA chip (arrayed BAC) will be undoubtedly provide accurate diagnosis of deletions, duplication, insertions and rearrangements of genomic material related to various human phenotypes, including neoplasias. And our tumor markers based on genetic abnormalities of cancer would be identified and contribute to the screening of the stage of cancers and/or hereditary diseases
