  • We study convergent factors to depression(CES-D: Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression scale) among administrative staff in general hospital. The questionnaire was used using an unregistered self-administered questionnaire for 201 staff from 9 general hospitals located in J area from Jul. 3rd, 2017 to Jul. 29th, 2017. The hierarchical multiple regression analysis shows the following results. The depression of respondents turned out to be significantly higher in following groups: a group in which Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale(RES) is lower, a group in which Multidimensional Fatigue Scale(MFS) is higher, a group in which Psychosocial Well-being Index Short Form(PWI-SF) are higher. The results show explanatory power of 32.5%. The results of the study indicate that the efforts, to increase RES, and to decrease MFS and PWI, are required to improve the depression among administrative staff in general hospital. These results could be used in organizing human resource management and industrial health education to lower the level of depression in general hospital administration staff. Following studies need to analyze the structural equation model that effects the depression levels of administrative staff in general hospital.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate factors affecting depression among female marriage immigrants in relation to demographic, family, self-efficacy, acculturation, and physical health aspects. The subjects were 556 marriage immigrants residing in Seoul, Keong-gi, and Chung-cheong areas. 47.1% of the subjects showed $${\geq_-}16$$ of CES-D which is the cutting points on depression. The results from hierachical regression analysis indicated that family income(${\beta}=-.13$, p=.002) at the first demographic model and self-efficacy(${\beta}=-.13$, p<.001), family relationship(${\beta}=-.16$, p<.001), acculturation to Korean culture(${\beta}=-.08$, p=.05), acculturative stress(${\beta}=.31$, p<.001), and mal-physical health(${\beta}=.18$, p<.001) at the final model affected female marriage immigrants' depression. The explanatory power of these variables was 37.1%. Based on these results, social services and policies for the prevention of depression among female marriage immigrants were discussed.

  • Rapidly growing mobile machines such as tablet PC and smart phone are equipped with touch screen panel using a sturdy material for products surface protection. Therefore, surge of chemically strengthened glass was increased and the amount of waste matter is proportional to demand. The purpose of this study is environmental impact assessment on touch screen panel of chemically strengthened glass by material life cycle assessment (MLCA). We used CES of Granta, SimaPro and Gabi software for MLCA. Chemically strengthened glass (2.7, 5.7 and 10.3 inch) was calculated to environmental impact assessment by Granta software under two cases. One case is Landfill and the other case is Reuse. As a result, in case of reuse, energy values of 2.7, 5.7 and 10.3 inches were reduced by an average of 51.4%, $CO_2$ values were reduced by an average of 46.6% than Landfill case, respectively. We assessed impact categories of 11 types using SimaPro software. As a result, the contents of fossil fuels, inorganics and climate change have a huge impact than the other impact categories. And the main cause of environmental impact is antimony and hydrogen fluoride in Gabi results.

  • Multiscattering occurs when a laser transmits into dense atmosphere targets (e.g. fogs, smoke or clouds), which can cause depolarization effects even though the scattering particles are spherical. In addition, multiscattering effects have additional information about microphysical properties of scatterers. Thus, multiscattering can be utilized to study the microphysical properties of the liquid water cloud. In this paper, a Monte Carlo method was used to simulate multi-scattering transmission properties of Lidar signals in the cloud. The results showed the slope of the degree of linear polarization (SLDLP) can be used to invert the extinction coefficient, and then the cloud effective size (CES) and the liquid water content (LWC) may be easily obtained by using the extinction coefficient and saturation of the degree of linear polarization (SADLP). Based on calculation results, a microphysical properties inversion method for a liquid cloud was presented. An innovative multiscattering polarization Lidar (MSPL) system was constructed to measure the LWC and CES of the liquid cloud, and a new method based on the polarization splitting ratio of the Polarization Beam Splitter (PBS) was developed to calibrate the polarization channels of MSPL. By analyzing the typical observation data of MSPL observation in the northern suburbs of Nanjing, China, the LWC and CES of the liquid water cloud were obtained. Comparisons between the results from the MSPL, MODIS and the Microwave radar data showed that, the microphysical properties of liquid cloud could be retrieved by combining our MSPL and the inversion method.

  • The questionnaire survey using the Center for Epidemiological Studies-Depression Scale(CES-D) was conducted to determine the prevalence of depression and related factors in the rural elderly. The subjects were 922 individuals of 60 years of age and over, living in Chonnam province. The results of this study were as follows. The prevalence rates of depression were 14.6% in male and 24.4%, in female. As the age increased, the prevalence rate increased and the rate was higher in non-educational and widowhood group. The prevalence rate was lower in the group of having good health habits and having a good health status. In the regression analysis, significant predictors of the depression were sex, education, physical activity, perceived health status and body image. In conclusion, main, characteristics which had close relationship to depression in the rural elderly were physical function and self-rated health status.

  • This study investigated the effect of social support (MOS-SSS), and physical (ADL, IADL) and mental (CES-D, MMSE-K) function on the quality of life (WHOQOL- BREF) among the elderly at care facilities. The survey respondents were 524 elderly aged 65 and older living in 15 care facilities located in D city. Data were collected through a personal interview conducted by interviewers who visited each care facility from November 2015 to January 2016. As a result, the quality of life was significantly lower in the elderly group with lower social support, with dysfunction in ADL and IADL than in the normal range group, with depression and cognitive impairment group than in the normal range group. The quality of life had a significant positive correlation with social support, ADL, IADL and cognitive impairment, but a significant negative correlation with depression. According to the results of covariance structure analysis, physical function had a greater impact on the quality of life than mental function or social support. Lower quality of life was associated with lower physical and mental function and lower social support. Therefore, concrete measures need to be devised to enhance physical function in order to improve the quality of life among the elderly in care facilities.

  • This study was to investigate the effects of different phytogenic feed additives (PFA) dosage levels in growing- finishing pigs stressed by high stocking density. A total of 72 mix sexed 12 weeks growing pigs ([Landrace × Yorkshire] × Duroc) with initial body weight (BW) of 49.28 ± 4.58 kg were used for 8 weeks. There were 3 replicate pens in each treatment group, with 3 pigs per pen. The dietary treatment groups consisted of basal diets in animal welfare density (negative control [NC]), basal diet in high stocking density (positive control [PC]), PC + 0.04% essential oil (ES1), PC + 0.08% essential oil (ES2), PC + 0.10% bitter citrus extract & essential oil (CES1), PC + 0.20% bitter citrus extract & essential oil (CES2), PC + 0.05% grape pomace extract (GP1), PC + 0.10% grape pomace extract (GP2). The reduction of space allowance decreased (p < 0.05) average daily gain, feed efficiency, and digestibility of dry matter, crude protein, and gross energy. Also, the fecal score of PC groups increased (p < 0.05) compared with other groups. Basic behaviors (feed intake, standing, lying) were inactive (p < 0.05) and singularity behavior (biting) was increased (p < 0.10) under high stocking density. There was no difference in blood profile. However, the supplementation of PFA alleviated the negative effects such as reduced growth performance, nutrient digestibility, and some increasing stress indicators in th blood (cortisol) and animal behavior (biting). In conclusion, the negative effect of high stocking density was most effectively mitigated by the normal dosage of the mixture of bitter citrus extract and essential oil additive (CES1).
