We examined the heterogeneity in the financial -environmental performance nexus, carrying out a meta-analysis of 48 outcomes from 26 empirical studies. Multiple correspondence analysis (MCA) was performed in this study to facilitate the analysis of the structural relationship among an array of study characteristics. As expected, the results of analyzing the multiple studies of the general corporate environmental performance and financial performance link suggested a significant positive relationship. Some of the results of the moderator analysis suggest that empirical studies using self-reporting measurement and structural equation method benefited from environmental performance as much as or more than the archival and regression method.
According to growth of web, data processing technology is developing. In the Web of next generation, high-speed or high-volume data processing technologies for various wire-wireless users, USN and RFID are developing too. In this paper, we propose a high-volume data processing technology using Complex Event Processing(CEP) engine. CEP is the technology to process complex events. CEP Engine is the following characteristics. First it collects a high-volume event(data). Secondly it analyses events. Finally it lets event connect to new actions. In other words, CEP engine collects, analyses, filters high-volume events. Also it extracts events using pattern-matching for registered events and new events. As the results extracted. We use it by an input event of other work, real-time response for demanded event and can trigger to database for only valid data.
The partial 165 rDNA sequences of 6 lactic acid bacterial strains isolated from Kimchi were determined. Two strains were Leuconostoc mesenteroides and the rest were incorrectly classified and turned out to be Lactobacillus. As the case of dairy lactic acid bacteria, the strains isolated from Kimchi also had cell-envelope proteinase (CEP) activity. As the result of partial CEP gene amplification with CEP-specific primers, the expected 1.2-kb amplificate was obtained not from Leu. mesenteroides but from Lactobacillus strains. The deduced amino acid sequence of PCR product amplified from the genomic DNA of Lactobacillus pentosus KFR1821 showed 95% and 92% homology with those of PrtPs from Lactococcus lactis subsp. cremoris and Lactobacillus paracasei subsp. paracasei, respectively. The PCR amplificate was used as a probe and the result of Southern hybridization illuminated the location of CEP gene in chromosomal DNA of Lb. pentosus KFR1821.
In recent years, there is a remarkable progress in ICTs (Information and Communication Technologies), and then many attempts to apply ICTs to other industries are being made. In the field of disaster managements, ICTs such as RFID (Radio Frequency IDentification) and USN (Ubiquitous Sensor Network) are used to provide safe environments. Actually, various types of early warning systems using USN are now widely used to monitor natural disasters such as floods, landslides and earthquakes, and also to detect human-caused disasters such as fires, explosions and collapses. These early warning systems issue alarms rapidly when a disaster is detected or an event exceeds prescribed thresholds, and furthermore deliver alarm messages to disaster managers and citizens. In general, these systems consist of a number of various sensors and measure real-time stream data, which requires an efficient and rapid data processing technique. In this study, an event-driven architecture (EDA) is presented to collect event effectively and to provide an alert rapidly. A publish/subscribe event processing method to process simple event is introduced. Additionally, a complex event processing (CEP) technique is introduced to process complex data from various sensors and to provide prompt and reasonable decision supports when many disasters happen simultaneously. A basic concept of CEP technique is presented and the advantages of the technique in disaster management are also discussed. Then, how the main processing methods of CEP such as aggregation, correlation, and filtering can be applied to disaster management is considered. Finally, an example of flood forecasting and early alarm system in which CEP is incorporated is presented It is found that the CEP based on the EDA will provide an efficient early warning method when disaster happens.
New eight times of minimum light of the near-contact binary EG Cep were presented. All times of minimum light for EG Cep, including ours, were collected and analyzed to study it's orbital period variation. It was found that the orbital period have varied in a cyclical way superposed on an upward parabola. A secular period increase of $3.22{\times}10^{-8}d/y$ was calculated. Under the assumption of a conservative mass transfer, it implied that the stellar gaseous material of about $3.18{\times}10^{-8}M_{\odot}$ /year is transferring from the less massive secondary component to the primary. The cyclical period variation was interpreted as light-time effect due to an unseen third body in the system. The resultant period, semi-amplitude and eccentricity of the light time orbit were calculated to be $38.^y4,\;0.^d0034$ and 0.29, respectively. The mass range of the tertiary proposed in the system is deduced to be quite small as $0.10M_{\odot}{\leq}M_3{\leq}0.21M_{\odot}$ for $i_3{\geq}30^{\circ}$.
Using $1024\times1024$ pixels CCD camera of ChungBuk National University Observatory (CBNUO), 62 photometric observations were made on January 11-12, 1993. A time of minimum lights of U Cep was determined as JD Hel 2448999.7274 from our data. On October 21-22 in 1993, CCD photometry in V and R for GW Cephei and V700 Cygni was carried out with 309${\times}$584 pixels cooled CCD system of Behlen Observatory, University of Nebraska-Lincoln (BOUNL) and 168 observations were obtained. From the data times of minimum lights JD Hel 2449282.8485 for GW Cep and JD Hel 2449282.7979 were determined. To developed a new CCD system of CBNUO, the CCD photometry method using at CBNUO is compared with at BOUNL.
The normalized line profiles of VV Cep have been calculated by integrating the equation of transfer. The Sobolev theory was adopted and the wind velocity distribution was assumed to be V(r) = V$\infty(1-R_c/r)^{1/2}$. The peaks of the line profiles for the phase 0.06 and 0.80 appear at near half maximum and zero velocity surface of the wind, respectively.
A total of 1,018 observations (509 in B, 509 in V) of the eclipsing binary VW Cep was made during 7 nights from April through May in 1999 at Sobaeksan Optical Astronomy Observatory, using the CCD camera attached to the 61cm telescope. A time of minimum light of HJD2451327.2282 was determined from our data, and we constructed BV light curves with the data. Using, Wilson-Devinney’s binary model, we analized the light curves. The absolute dimension of $M_1=0.95M_\odot,M_2=0.33M_\odot,R_1=1.02R_\odot,R_2=0.66R_\odot$ of the VW Cep system were derived from our light curve solution and Kaszas et al. (1998) spectroscopic results.
The present study was conducted to investigate the effects of dietary supplementation of Codonopsis pilosula extract powder (CEP) on the reproductive performance in sows. A total of 20 pregnant sows were randomly assigned to two dietary treatments, which was given a corn and soybean meal-based diets containing 0 or 5 g/kg of the CEP from 40 days prepartum to weaning (25 days postpartum). The serum immunoglobulin G (IgG) concentration of sow (p<0.01) and piglets (p<0.05) was significantly increased by the feeding of CEP. And we also demonstrated that the coefficient of correlation between the colostrum and serum indicates a significant positive correlation on IgG. The stillbirth of sows and mortality rate during suckling periods were slightly lower in CEP feeding group than control, but there is no significant difference. In conclusion, our results suggest that the dietary supplementation of CEP increases the humoral immunity in both of sows and piglets, and it might contribute to improve the reproductive performance of sows. Further, additory studies are necessary on the immunomodulatory mechanism of CEP components.

Methylation is a primary epigenetic mechanism regulating gene expression. 5-aza-2'-deoxycytidine is an FDA-approved drug prescribed for treatment of cancer by inhibiting DNA-Methyl-Transferase 1 (DNMT1). Results of this study suggest that prolonged treatment with 5-aza-2'-deoxycytidine could induce centrosome abnormalities in cancer cells and that CEP131, a centrosome protein, is regulated by DNMT1. Interestingly, cancer cell growth was attenuated in vitro and in vivo by inhibiting the expression of Cep131. Finally, Cep131-deficient cells were more sensitive to treatment with DNMT1 inhibitors. These findings suggest that Cep131 is a potential novel anti-cancer target. Agents that can inhibit this protein may be useful alone or in combination with DNMT1 inhibitors to treat cancer.
