This paper firstly aims to classifying the applicability of the Balanced Scorecard approach to Korean ocean-going shipping firms' management system. The applicability of this approach is from Korean shipping firms using Balanced Scorecard will create more effective and efficient organizational performance with reflecting non-financial indexes and making a balance among missions in organization. Secondly, the paper suggests positive information and theoretical evidences to improve Korean shipping firms' management system examines an availability of the Balanced Scorecard as one method of management tools. So these factors are analysed by structural equation model. This study provides CEO in Korean ocean-going shipping firm the guideline and availability of the Balanced Scorecard as to what kinds of factors should be considered and what is the most critical factor to adopt the BSC into their business.

This article verifies the actual conditions of the Wonju area medical devices cluster for presentation of method for increasing promotion. It examines the general status of companies, reason for location, competitive power and supporting system with a questionnaire survey and in-depth research. The Wonju area has 79 medical device companies. It comprised 9% of total sales and 11% of export sales of korea medical devices in 2007. For enhancement of the Wonju area medical devices ability to accumulate and attract of medical device companies and front-line and back-line industries, the followings is needed, a supply of highly qualified man power, a support base for developing modem technology and information marketing, adequate infrastructure for housing and education system, methodologies for sustaining new business and innovation fund-raising programs and marketing, and provide the highest degree of education for CEO.

Objectives: OHSMS, which was introduced by Serious Accident Punishment Act as a means for safety and health management at work place, but it is not effective according to recent statistical data. Therefore, I intend to compare the OHSMS regulations of SAPA based on ISO 45001, the international standard of OHSMS, and examine the differences and problems. Methods: The OHSMS regulation of Serious Accident Punishment Act was compared and analyzed using the content standard of ISO 45001, the international standard of OHSMS. The construction and operation aspects and differences in key concept definitions of OHSMS were analyzed in depth. Results: ISO 45001 aims to provide OHSMS with an autonomous framework to manage risks and opportunities in safety and health management, whereas Serious Accident Punishment Act aims for safety and health management through an interest and effort in safety and health management on the premise of legal responsibilities of corporations and CEO. As a result, comparing to ISO 45001 in construction and operation aspects and differences in key concept definitions of OHSMS, the OHSMS of Serious Accident Punishment Act do not cover the entire business in concept definition and construction. Conclusions: In order for Serious Accident Punishment Act to achieve its original purpose of preventing serious accidents through systemic safety and health management, it is necessary to correctly understand the contents of ISO 45001 and to revise the OHSMS regulations in a direction that can ensure predictability and feasibility.
Purpose: Existing precedent studies include success factors of individual management innovation activities constantly. However, those studies have limitations about the common key success factors of individual management innovation activities. Methods: For this study, we investigate the key success factors using literature research of the most typical management innovation activities adopted and implemented by many companies in Korea, such as 6sigma, TQM, Lean 6sigma, ERP, TPM, BPR, Project Management, System Engineering. Factors emerging repeatedly was combined into common factors and inherent factors that are necessary for the success of individual management innovation activities are designated to essential factors. Results: 'Essential factors for Six Sigma' consist of 5 items. Black belt operating system, personnel management system linkage, the correct management of the data, perform improvement projects associated with financial performance financial result, linked to financial performance improvement project, project progress management. 'Essential factors of TQM' are arranged 4 items. Quality team's independence and role, goal-setting, Quality Information System, corporate's philosophy of quality first. 'Essential factors of Lean Six Sigma' are the selection of value stream which is based on the customer needs and the value creation and identify the project based on the selected value in the company. 'Essential factors of ERP' are investigated 6 items. Ongoing system maintenance and upgrades, the measurement and support of user satisfaction, the operating systems and the policies for the maintenance, IT infrastructure, change adaption condition monitoring, focusing on improving business performance. 'Essential factors for TPM' are arranged 4 items. Motivated and energetic Bottom-Up, CEO's recognition of the importance facility management, long-term perspective of necessity and ongoing patience. 'Essential factors for BPR' are the pursuit of change process and the staff's sense of crisis management. 'Essential factors for Project Management' are the strategy that reduce the risk management skills through risk management and the understanding and organized management for the project participant's needs. 'Essential factors for System Engineering' consist of 2 items. The first is the design for the best balanced system with pre-analysis about the compromise the cost, schedule and the performance. The second is the analysis of large problem into small problems which can solved. We have found the solution considering components of the interface through the systematic perspective. Conclusion: Common factors and essential factors presented in this study will properly help to introduce the individual management innovation activities for the each business sector and implement management innovation. After this study, new literature research that reflect new studies should accomplish steadily.
The purpose of this study is to ascertain whether the effect of introduction of OCS(Order Communication System) to the hospital is satisfied or not comparing the anticipated effect with the actual effect. For this purpose, a domestic hospital which has introduced and has been operating OCS for several years was chosen. Based on the internal data of S Hospital prepared before introducing OCS, researcher has analyzed the basic direction, design standard and status of operation after the introduction of OCS, etc. After analyzing the status of operations of several departments using OCS and interviewing with the chiefs of pertinent departments, a survey form was designed. Actual survey and interviews were conducted by the researcher for weeks to know whether doctors, nurses, medical technicians and clerks of the patient management dept. were satisfied with OCS and to find if they have any recommendations to improve OCS. Based on the analysis of survey, the effect of OCS was evaluated whether it has satisfied the anticipated effectiveness. For the question if they feel convenient in using OCS, doctors, nursing staffs in charge of ward and the staffs of billing dept. has answered that they were all satisfied(100%). The answers for the same question were relatively high in the case of nurses in charge of outpatient and staffs of radiography. Of course, there have been some nurses and staffs who complained for the inconvenience. However, overall satisfaction was high on the average. Some common problems occurred after the introduction of OCS were frequent errors due to instability of OCS system, paralysis of function of hardware on data back-up system and redundant investment due to erroneous choice of DB program in setting DB. It was also pointed out that lack of computer education and low participation of medical staffs has resulted in failure of developing effective software. As a result, it has lowered the efficiency of OCS. For example, some works have to be done by hands even after OCS. Based on the result of this research, recommendations to maximize the effect of OCS were presented as follows. First, strong leadership of CEO and active cooperation of doctors are mandatory. Second, all the process of hospital work should be analyzed and be redesigned in more efficient ways. Third, OCS should be designed to be user-based system which can be used efficiently by all staffs of the hospital. Forth, prior to the operation of OCS, proper tests of the program and trainings of the pertinent staff are required. Fifth, prior to the selection of hardware, BMT(Bench Marking Test) should be conducted. Sixth, before introducing OCS, staffs in charge of OCS should visit many hospitals operating the OCS system and take their cases into account.
Even with the most advanced aviation technology benefits, aircraft accidents are constantly occurring while air passenger transportation volume is expected to double in the next 15 years. Since it is not possible to secure aviation safety only by the post aircraft accident safety action of accident investigations, it has been recognized and consensus has been formed that proactive and predictive prevention measures are necessary. In this sense, the aviation safety management system (SMS) was introduced in 2008 and has been carried out in earnest since 2011. SMS is a proactive and predictive aircraft accident preventive measure, which is a mechanism to eliminate the fundamental risk factors by approaching organizational factors beyond technological factors and human factors related to aviation safety. The methodology is to collect hazards in all the sites required for aircraft operations, to build a database, to analyze the risks, and through managing risks, to keep the risks acceptable or below. Therefore, the improper implementation of SMS indicates that the aircraft accident prevention is insufficient and it is to be directly connected with the aircraft accident. Reports of duty performance related hazards including their own errors are essential and most important in SMS. Under the policy of just culture for voluntary reporting, the guarantee of information providers' anonymity, non-punishment and non-blame should be basically secured, but to this end, under-reporting is stagnant due to lack of trust in their own organizations. It is necessary for the accountable executive(CEO) and senior management to take a leading role to foster the safety culture initiating from just culture with the safety consciousness, balancing between safety and profit for the organization. Though a Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's order, "Guidance on SMS Implementation" states the training required for the accountable executive(CEO) and senior management, it is not legally binding. Thus it is suggested that the SMS training completion certificates of accountable executive(CEO) and senior management be included in SMS approval application form that is legally required by "Korea Aviation Safety Program" in addition to other required documents such as a copy of SMS manual. Also, SMS related items are missing in the aircraft accident investigation, so that organizational factors in association with safety culture and risk management are not being investigated. This hinders from preventing future accidents, as the root cause cannot be identified. The Aircraft Accident Investigation Manuals issued by ICAO contain the SMS investigation wheres it is not included in the final report form of Annex 13 to the Convention on International Civil Aviation. In addition, the US National Transportation Safety Board(NTSB) that has been a substantial example of the aircraft accident investigation for the other accident investigation agencies worldwide does not appear to expand the scope of investigation activities further to SMS. For these reasons, it is believed that investigation agencies conducting their investigations under Annex 13 do not include SMS in the investigation items, and the aircraft accident investigators are hardly exposed to SMS investigation methods or techniques. In this respect, it is necessary to include the SMS investigation in the organization and management information of the final report format of Annex 13. In Korea as well, in the same manner, SMS item should be added to the final report format of the Operating Regulation of the Aircraft and Railway Accident Investigation Board. If such legal and institutional improvement methods are complemented, SMS will serve the purpose of aircraft accident prevention effectively and contribute to the improvement of aviation safety in the future.
This study was to identify the effects of hotel organizational service orientation on CRM(customer relationship management) performance. The organizational service orientation has been considered very important for excellent service quality in many existing studies. The data were collected from employees in deluxe hotels of the metropolitan area with the questionnaire. To test the hypotheses, using AMOS were conducted for 379 respondents as a sample collected. The results show that customer's authority, service training, service reward significantly influenced to competitive advantage. Among the three variables the service reward was especially significant. In addition, competitive advantage significantly influenced to CRM performance (relationship commitment, image of corporation, customer's loyalty). So it is very important for employee to give a authority, share of service training program, give a reward what they want. Because that system can lead to the good performance. As a result, the CEO of hotel has to attention the organizational service orientation for achievement of the CRM performance.
This article aims at analysing the reality of banks' liability resulting from the breach of contract on its part to keep the business secrecy with the supplier in the transferable credit, focusing on a English decision, Jackson v. Royal Bank of Scotland [2005] UKHL 3. In this case, the applicant, 'Econ', had purchased various varieties of pre-packed dog chews in bulk through 'Sam'(lst beneficiary) from 'PPLtd'(2nd beneficiary) in Thailand, using a transferable letter of credit issued by 'RBank'. 'Sam' charged a tremendous amount of mark-up on each transaction and it had not been disclosed to 'Econ', although the identity of 'PPLtd' was revealed to 'Econ' by various documents. However, 'RBank' made an unfortunate error to send an completion statement and other documents including 'PPLtd.'s invoice to 'Econ' instead of to 'Sam'. The effect of the Bank's error was to reveal to 'Econ' the substantial profit that 'Sam' was making on these transactions. CEO of 'Econ' was furious and, as a result, decided to cut 'Sam' out of its importing system and terminated their relationship. 'Sam' sued 'RBank' for damages to recover the loss of profits which could have been possibly made, if the information on the mark-up would not have been exposed to 'Econ'. The House of Lord held that 'RBank' was in breach of its duty of confidence, so 'Sam' was entitled to recover damages on a decreasing scale over 4 years, since there was no specific undertaking from the letter of credit.
Most Korean companies in the fashion industry are SMEs, and the role of the CEO and management ownership is important for enhancing the firm's competence and developing strategies. The study aims to examine the effect of management ownership on company financial growth. In particular, the study focuses on the moderating effect of company age and size on Korean fashion SMEs' financial outcomes. Financial data based on company financial statements from 2012 to 2014 was collected by the Data Analysis, Retrieval and Transfer System of Korea's Financial Supervisory Service. A total of 295 companies' (domestic fashion businesses) data was analyzed by the bootstrap method. The median sales value in the financial year 2014 was 47,492,403,958 KRW, and the company size was divided by it. The companies were in business for an average of 20 years. According to the results, the management ownership had a negative effect on Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) for the three-years, and the relationship between the two variables was moderated by company age. Additionally, the interaction effect of management ownership and company age on 3-CAGR was also moderated by company size. When the companies had spent only a few years in business, a negative effect of management ownership for small firms and a positive effect of management ownership on financial growth for medium firms were found. These results suggest that small companies starting business need to manage their company governance structure to make flexible decisions, and after retaining financial growth, the companies can expand their businesses based on strong ownership.
With the development of IT convergence technology and the construction of master plan for the four rivers restoration of the government, the importance of the eco-friendly water pollution management is being spotlighted. In this paper, we proposed the effective water pollution management using the reservoir tank automatic classification for improving the water quality and on-line managing efforts of ceo-friendly reservoir tanks. The proposed method defined the seven factors of water pollution evaluation and managed the water pollution according to hydrogen ion concentration(pH), chemical oxygen demand(COD), suspend solid(SS), dissolved oxygen(DO), count of coliform group(MPN), total phosphorus(T-P), and total nitrogen(T-N) using the sensors. We measured the values for the seven factors from the reservoir tank and normalized to ranging from 1 to 9. To evaluate the performance of the water pollution management using the reservoir tank automatic classification, we conducted F-measure so as to verify usefulness. This evaluation found that the difference of satisfaction by the traditional system was statistically meaningful.
