Corporations operate within long term strategy. The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) makes decisions and has responsibility for all executive activities which affects the corporate performance. If the CEO makes strategic choices through reasonable decision making, it could affect corporate performance and corporate's rise and fall. So the CEO's decision making is very important. As rapid change in the digital technology environment happened, through digital transition, corporations have been working on increasing corporate performance by practical and academic methods. However prior research was restricted to CEO's affect on organization, innovation or innovative activities and there is a lack of research linking CEO's characteristics to digital transition and corporate performance. As the digital age is coming, research on how CEO's characteristics affect digital transition and corporate performance is direly needed. From the case of domestic Big Data corporation RSN Co. ltd's digital transition success, understanding characteristics of CEO, digital transition and corporate performance through prior researches, and developing research model and research proposition was set. Research was performed on RSN co. ltd's case analysis, and how characteristics of CEO's matter on digital transformation and corporate performance. As a result of the proposition, when the CEO conjugates digital technology, the corporation was able to successfully complete digital transition and it also affects corporate performance. Also, this research's other point is that CEO's may have limits on thoughtful decision making. It is judged that it is necessary to try an empirical study in the future.
In this study, we report the summary characteristics of CEOs of SI firms in Korea. In the first part of our paper, age, educational background, and career of CEOs in SI firms are analyzed according to CEO types (owners versus professional managers). In the second part, CEO tenures of Si firms in Korea are compared with those in the U.S. and Japan. We found that CEO tenures of SI firms in Korea are remarkably shorter than those in the U.S. and Japan. In conclusion, we contend that CEO systems in Korean firms should be improved to guarantee the longer tenures especially for professional managers.

Since the global financial crisis, the employment rate of young people worldwide has been declining, and the situation in Korea has worsened. Recently, the employment rate has been restored to a small extent due to the implementation of various government policies on youth employment and entrepreneurship, and many young entrepreneurs have been produced. In addition, various types of youth farming enterprises are emerging as the system for encouraging home farmers and villagers and fostering young farmers has been expanded. The first is that the personal characteristics of the CEO are important for the performance of youth start-up rural enterprises. Second, in support policy, educational support affects performance, but funding policy does not have a significant effect. Third, since ICT's environmental characteristics do not affect the CEO's personal characteristics and support policies and corporate performance, it is more important to find ways to utilize them directly in the field than to develop ICT's environmental characteristics.

Purpose - The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between CEO name uncommonness and R&D intensity while focusing on CEO ownership and CEO tenure as moderators of the relationship. Design/methodology/approach - This study collected data from various American databases such as national data on given names from Social Security Administration, COMPUSTAT, and Execucomp. The sample of this study includes 2,494 (firm-year) observations from U.S. firms between 2005-2011. This study conducts Feasible Generalized Least Square (FGLS) regression analysis to test the hypotheses. Findings - First, we found CEO name uncommonness was positively related to R&D intensity. In other words, CEOs with unusual names prefer being distinctive by increasing R&D investments. Second, we examine the moderating roles of CEO characteristics (i.e., CEO ownership and tenure). The results show that CEO tenure strengthens the positive relationship between CEO name uncommonness and R&D intensity. Research implications or Originality - First, this study extends the CEO characteristics and R&D literature by investigating how CEO name uncommonness affects R&D intensity. In addition, our study also supports the intitutionalization of CEO power arguments by showing that CEOs with unusual names are more likely to pursue distinctive strategies when they have longer tenure. For practical implications, our results allow the investors to better predict corporate future R&D expenses. It suggests that ceteris paribus, CEOs with unusual names, vis-a-vis CEOs with common names, are more likely to increase R&D expenses.

Managed CEOs did not see statistically significant differences in the amount of technology change-sensitive areas. In addition, it was analyzed that the current type of CEO of small businesses does not affect the R&D technology digestion capacity of technological innovation capabilities. Second, the analysis of the relationship between innovation capabilities and innovation performance did not have a statistically significant effect. Third, the analysis of the adjustment effect between the type of CEO and the capacity of innovation according to the growth stage of small businesses shows that the technology and the consultant-type CEO affect the amount of the area of technology change, but the managed and market-type CEOs did not have the adjustment effect. Fourth, the analysis of the capacity of innovation and the effect of adjustment between innovation and innovation in the growth phase of innovative SMEs did not have a statistically significant effect.

The corporate social responsibility has become an industry norm, and the majority of companies have adopted corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities due to institutional pressure. This paper suggests that chief executive officer (CEO) characteristics and governance mechanisms such as CEOs hubris, outside directors, and foreign ownership can influence a managerial decision of following the norm in adopting CSR. This paper argues that a CEO with hubris carry out CSR considerably less or more than a CEO without hubris because a CEO with hubris are known to have a tendency to refuse to follow the norm from institutional pressure. On the contrary, corporate governance mechanisms can guide a CEO to follow the industrial norm related to CSR because governance mechanisms tend to control CEO to reduce managerial uncertainty. The results show that CEO with hubris has a positive relationship with the degree of CSR deviation while governance mechanisms have a negative relationship. In addition, governance mechanisms negatively moderate the relationship between CEO with hubris and with the degree of CSR deviation.
