Heavy metals like Mercury and Cadmium cause various kinds of toxicities in the organs of Liver and Kidney. To observe the results of toxicity in the liver, kidney, and serum when the rats were injected subcutaneously with HgCl$_2$ and CdC1$_2$ and sacrificed after 24 hours and 72 hours from the last injection, we measured variation of lipidperoxide values in rat liver homogenate, variation of aspartate aminotransferase and alanine aminotransferase in rat serum. Variation of lipidperoxide values in rat kidney homogenate and variation of BUN in rat serum. It was found that Mercury and Cadmium administered subcutaneously to the skin in the air could cause the damages of liver and kidney.

The local water contents and water transfer characteristics in the PEMFC system were investigated by numerical simulations and experiments. The performance of a lab-scale PEMFC is measured for fully humidified gases conditions and non-humidified ones. In order to observe the local water contents and water transfer characteristics inside PEMFC, the numerical simulation using CFD module on STAR-CD(es-pemfc) were conducted. The results show that the water content was increased as increasing current density, whereas it was decreased in high current density region. Then there was close correlation between high water content and internal temperature inside of MEA, and high current density was observed when internal temperature was dramatically increased.

We developed phosphorescent white OLEDs with high efficiency and color stability. By engineering device architecture in which confined excitons within the emissive layer by using adequate interlayer and balanced recombination of charge carriers by using stepwise hole transporting layer system, these WOLEDs showed power efficacy of 43.6 lm/W with CRI = 62 and 36 lm/W with CRI = 72 at $100\;cd/m^2$ without outcoupling enhancements.

고체연료 성상별 연소시 굴뚝에서 배출되는 입자상물질의 농도는 섬유류(86.8mg/m$^3$) > PP 마대류(26.51mg/m$^3$) > 합성수지류(16.71mg/m$^3$) > 우레탄(11.17mg/m$^3$) > 목재류(10.92mg/m$^3$) > 종이류(2.61mg/m$^3$)의 순으로 나타났다. 특히 폐섬유 소각시 입자상물질 중 중금속 함유농도는 Pb의 경우 기타 고체연료 연소시 함유농도비가 0.4% 이하인 반면에 폐섬유 소각시 6.6%인 5.72mg/m$^3$로 높게 나타났으며, Cd 또한 1.4%인 1.24mg/m$^3$로 높게 나타났다.

The performance of the centrifugal fan in a vacuum cleaner is affected by the hydraulic loss, such as the friction loss, the recirculation loss and the impact loss etc., Those losses depend on the rotational speed of the impeller, the inlet and exit widths, the relative flow angles to the blade, the number of the blades and the geometry of the shroud and the diffuser. These parameters are complicatedly interrelated, so the experimental means in analyzing the fans are rather limited. In the present study, the flow analysis are done numerically by changing the relevant fan parameters. A commercial code, STAR-CD, is used for the calculations. It is seen from the analyses that the computational results agree well with the experimental results. The results obtained can be used for the basic design of a centrifugal fan.

An intracellular protease form cells of Pseudomonas carboxydovorans DSM 1227 grown on carbon monoxide was purified 57-fold in six steps to homogeneity with a yield of 4.3% using azocoll as a substrate. The molecular weight of the enzyme was determined to be 150,000. Sodium dodecyl sulfate-gel electrophoresis revealed the purified enzyme to be a dimer with two identical subunits of molecular weight 72,000. The enzyme was stimulated by $Mg^{2+}$ but was inhibited completely by $Cd^{2+}$ $Fe^{2+}$ $Hg^{2+}$, and $^Zn{2+}$ The enzyme activity was also inhibited by EDTA, EGTA, phenylmethylsulfonyl fluoride, and phenyl glyoxal, but was increased by 1-ethyl-3(dimethyl aminopropyl fluoride, and phenyl glyoxal, but was increased by 1-ethyl-3(dimethyl aminopropyl)carbodiimide, iodoacetamide and dithiothereitol. The optimal pH and temperature for the enzyme reaction were found to be 7-8 and 50.deg.C, respectively. Casein and bovine serum albumin were hydrolyzed by the enzyme, but carbon monoxide dehydrogenase was not.

In order to examine the contamination levels of trace elements in stream sediments in the Chungnam coal mine area, stream sediment and water samples were collected and analyzed for trace elements. The pH of stream water was neutral or weak-alkaline and the mobility of metal in stream sediments was supposed to be low. From the result of cluster analysis, non-polluted sampling stations can be distinguished from polluted sampling stations influenced by mining activities. The trace element concentrations in sediments from non-polluted zone were considered to be the natural backround concentrations of this area. The trace element concentrations in sediment samples from the mining area were higher than those from non-polluted area, and contaminated area of enriched trace element levels need to be properly managed. From the results of discriminant and regression analyses, concentrations of Cd, Cu, Pb AND zN and predicted values of Be, Mo, and Ni in Chungnam coal mine area were found to be lower than those in metal mining areas in Korea.

A new method for array testing of TFT-CD panel with the integrated gate driver circuits is presented. As larger size/high resolution TFT-LCD with the peripheral driver circuits has emerged, one of the important problems for manufacturing is array testing on the panel. This paper describes the technology of detecting defective arrays and optimizing the array testing process. For the effective characterization of pixel array, the pixel storage capability is simulated and measured with voltage imaging system. This technology permits full functional testing during the manufacturing process, enabling fabrication of large TFT-LCD panels with the integrated driver circuits.

This paper evaluates thequality of synthesized speech by rule using the LPC CD in the objective measure and then compares the result with the subjective analysis. By evaluating the quality of synthesized speech by rule objectively. We have tried to resolve the problems (Evaluation time or size expansion, variables within the analysis results) that arise when the evaluation is done subjectively. Also by comparing intelligibility-the index for the subjective quality evaluation of synthesized speech by rule-with evaluation results obtained using MOS and the objective evaluation. We have proved the validity of the objective analysis and thus provides a guide that would be useful when R&D and marketing of synthesis by rule method is done.
