A new organic light emitting device(OLED) with two peak wavelength(blue and yellow) emission was fabricated using the selective doping in a single fluorescent host , and its electrical and optical characteristics were investigated. The fabricated device showed the luminance and efficiency of 1600 $Cd/m^2$ and 2.4 Im/W under the applied voltage of 10V, respectively. And its electroluminescent spectra had two peak wavelengths of 470nm and 560nm emitting bluish white light. The OLED with dual wavelength emission in this experiment is likely to be developed as a white OLED with simpler fluorescent system than conventional devices.

Application of recombinant protein production and particularly their isotopic enrichment has stimulated development of a range of novel multidimensional heteronuclear NMR techniques. Peptides in most cases are amenable to assignment and structure determination without the need for isotopic labeling. However, there are many cases where the availability of $^{15}N$ and/or $^{13}C$ labeled peptides is useful to study the structure of peptides with more than 30 residues and the interaction between peptides and membrane. CRAMP (Cathelicidin-Related AntiMicrobial Peptide) was identified from a cDNA clone derived from mouse femoral marrow cells as a member of cathelicidin-derived antimicrobial peptides. CRAMP was successfully expressed as a GST-fused form in E. coli and purified using affinity chromatography and reverse-phase chromatography. The yield of the CRAMP was 1.5 mg/l 1. According to CD spectra, CRAMP adopted ${\alpha}$-helical conformation in membrane-mimetic environments. Isotope labeling of CRAMP is expected to make it possible to study the structure and dynamic properties of CRAMP in various membrane systems.
The alginate lyase A1-III gene of Sphingomonas species A1 is composed of 1,077 nucleotides, encoding a protein (359 amino acids) with a molecular mass of 40,322 Da. Recombinant A1-III expressed in Escherichia coli exhibited the same full enzymatic activity as native A1-III. In order to identify the critical residue for activity, a site-directed mutation was introduced into the A1-III gene (H192A, His192->Ala). Recombinant A1-III (H192A) exhibited a significant decrease in enzyme activity (one-thirty thousandth of that of A1-III), without any conformational change, as detected by the CD spectra in the far UV region. Also, the chemical modification of wild-type A1-III with methyl 4-nitro benzene sulfonate resulted in a 40% decrease from the initial activity, whereas the same modification of A1-III (H192A) produced no change in the activity. The role of His192 on the catalytic process was also explored based on a model of A1-III docked with mannuronic acid into the active site.
Transparent In-doped zinc oxide (IZO) thin films are deposited with variation of pulsed DC power at Ar atmosphere on coming 7059 glass substrate by pulsed DC magnetron sputtering. A c-axis oriented IZO thin films were grown in perpendicular to the substrate. The optical transmittance spectra showed high transmittance of over 80% in the UV-visible region and exhibited the absorption edge of about 350 nm. Also, the IZO films exhibited the resistivity of ${\sim}10^{-3}{\Omega}\;cm$ and the mobility of ${\sim}6cm/V\;s$. Organic Light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) with IZO/N,N'-diphenyl-N, N'-bis(3-methylphenl)-1, 1'-biphenyl-4,4'-diamine (TPD)/tris (8-hydroxyquinoline) aluminum ($Alq_3$)/LiF/Al configuration were fabricated. LiF layer inserted is used as an interfacial layer to increase the electron injection. Under a current density of $100\;mA/cm^2$, the OLEDs show an excellent efficiency (9.4 V turn-on voltage) and a good brightness ($12000\;cd/m^2$) of the emission light from the devices. These results indicate that IZO films hold promise for anode electrodes in the OLEDs application.
A 20-residue hybrid peptide CA(1-8)-MA(1-12) (CAMA) incorporating residues 1-8 of cecropin A (CA) and residues 1-12 of magainin 2 (MA) has high antimicrobial activity without toxicity. To investigate the effects of the total positive charges of CAMA on the antibacterial activity and toxicity, a hybrid peptide analogue (CAMA-syn) was designed with substitutions of $Ile^{10}\;and\;Ser^{16}$ with Lys. According to CD spectra, structure of CAMA-syn with increase of cationicity was very similar to that of CAMA in DPC micelle. CAMA-syn showed antimicrobial activity similar with CAMA while CAMA-syn has no hemolytic activity and much lower cytotoxicity against RAW 264.7 macrophage cells than CAMA. Also, CAMA and CAMA-syn significantly inhibited NO production by LPSstimulated RAW264.7 macrophage at 10.0∼20.0 $\mu$M. CAMA-syn displayed salt resistance on antimicrobial activity against Escherichia coli at the physiological concentrations of $CaCl_2\;and\;MgCl_2$. The combination studies of peptides and antibiotics showed that CAMA-syn has synergistic effects with synthetic compound and flavonoid against Enterococcus faecalis and VREF. CAMA-syn can be a good candidate for the development of new antibiotics with potent antibacterial and synergistic activity but without cytotoxicity.

Two-dimensional photonic quasicrystal (PQCs) template patterns have been fabricated on a $1.1{\mu}m$-thick DMI-150 photoresist using a multiple-exposure holographic method. A 442-nm HeCd laser was utilized as a light source and the holographic exposure was carried out at a fixed angle of $\theta=6^{\circ}$. After the first holographic exposure, the sample was rotated to a proper angle and the second exposure was performed to the same manner. This exposure process was repeated n/2 times to obtain n-fold symmetric PQC patterns and then the sample was developed. The fabricated PQCs exhibited 8, 10 and 12-fold rotational symmetry and the diffraction patterns using a 632.8-nm HeNe laser were observed for n-rotation symmetry corresponding n-fold PQCs. The fabricated PQC template patterns were examined using scanning electron microscopy(SEM). Transmission spectra were measured fourier transform infrared(FTIR) spectrometer.
Two novel binuclear metal-organic coordination complexes [$Cd_2(Hdpa)_4(bpy)_2$] (1), [$Dy_2(dpa)_2(bpy)_2(NO_3)_2-(H_2O)_2$](bpy) (2) (where $H_2dpa$ = biphenyl-2,2'-dicarboxylic acid, bpy = 2,2'-bipyridine) have been synthesized under hydrothermal conditions and characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction, spectral method (IR), elemental analysis (EA), powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), electronic spectra (UV-vis), fluorescent in the solid state and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). Complexes 1-2 crystallizes isomorphously in the Triclinic space group P-1. The ${\pi}-{\pi}$ stacking interactions and hydrogen-bonds play a vital role in determining the crystal packing and construction of the extended 3-D supramolecular network.

The effect of bovine serum albumin (BSA) on the encapsulation efficiency and stability of liposomes containing methotrexate (MTX) having different surface charges and cholesterol contents were investigated. The encapsulation efficiency of MTX was lower and the release of MTX was faster by the addition of BSA. The leaking of MTX from lipid bilayer depends upon the BSA concentrations. These results may be derived from the interaction of BSA with lipid bilayers. The dynamic structural changes of BSA were monitored indirectly using circular dichroism spectra. Observed dynamic structural changes of BSA with liposomes are presumed to reflect the interaction of BSA with liposomes. Negatively charged liposomes have more strong interaction with BSA than neutral and positively charged liposomes. BSA attacks lipid bilayers whether it is at the inner or at the outer phase of lipid bilayer and induces leakage of entrapped MTX. Especially, negatively charged liposomes are more sensitive than others. The inclusion of cholesterol in the lipid layers inhibits the interaction of BSA with liposomes and shows protective effect against BSA-induced leakage of MTX. To endure the attacking of BSA liposomes as drug carriers should be made using cholesterol.

Znic sulfide (ZnS) thin films were deposited on glass substrates by radio frequency magnetron sputtering. The substrate temperature varied from room temperature (RT) to $500^{\circ}C$. The structural and optical properties of ZnS films were studied by X-ray diffraction (XRD), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), energy dispersive analysis of X-ray (EDAX) and UV-visible transmission spectra. The XRD analyses reveal that ZnS films have cubic structures with (111) preferential orientation, whereas the diffraction patterns sharpen with the increase in substrate temperatures. The FESEM images indicate that ZnS films deposited at $400^{\circ}C$ have nano-sized grains with a grain size of ~ 67 nm. Then films exhibit relatively high transmittance of 80% in the visible region, with an energy band gap of 3.71 eV. One obvious result is that the energy band gap of the film increases with increasing the substrate temperatures.
Five secondary metabolites, including a new isopimarane derivative xylaroisopimaranin A (1), were isolated from the endophytic fungus Xylaralyce sp. (HM-1), and their structures were elucidated by 1D, 2D NMR, MS and CD spectra. Their bioactivities were performed to antibacterial, Hep G2 cells cytotoxicity and brine shrimp inhibition. The biological evaluation results showed that the xylaroisopimaranin A (1), xylabisboein B (2), griseofulvin (3), 5-methylmellein (4) and mellein-5-carboxlic acid (5) displayed no significant Hep G2 cells cytotoxicity and antibacterial acitivity, but they inhibited the brine shrimp with $IC_{50}$ from 0.5 to $25{\mu}mol/mL$.
