Development of KITSAT-3 High Resolution CCD Camera System (우리별 3호 탑재 고해상도 CCD 카메라시스템 개발)

  • In this paper, we describe the structure, function, and the operation method of the high resolution CCD camera system on the KITSAT-3, which will be launched in 1998. We have developed the camera system with the University of Stellenbosch in the Republic of South Africa. Currently we are doing the environmental test for the engineering model of the camera system. The main purposes of the system are the technology acquisition and operation test. The around resolution of the system is 15 m at the 800 Km earth orbit.

  • Web camera is usually used for video communication between PC, it has small sensing area, cannot using long exposure application, so that is insufficient for astronomical application. But web camera is suitable for bright planet, moon, it doesn't need long exposure time. So many amateur astronomer using web camera for planetary imaging. We used ToUcam manufactured by Phillips for planetary imaging and Registax commercial program for a video file combining. And then, we are measure a property of web camera, such as linearity, gain that is usually using for analysis of CCD performance. Because of using combine technic selected high quality image from video frame, this method on take higher resolution planetary imaging than one shot image by film, digital camera and CCD. We describe a planetary observing method and a video frame combine method.

The Structured Grid Pattern Calibration Based On Triangulation Method (삼각법기반 구조화된 격자 패턴 캘리브레이션)

  • So far, many sensors such as a structured grid pattern generator, a laser, and CCD camera to obtain 3D information have been used, but most of algorithms for a calibration are inefficient since a huge memory and experiment time are required. In this paper, the calibration algorithm of a structured grid pattern based on triangulation method is introduced to calculate 3D information in the real world. The beams generated from structured grid pattern generator established horizontally with the CCD camera are projected on the calibration plat. A CCD camera measures the intersection plane of a projected beam and an object plane. The 3D information is calculated using measured and calibration datum. This proposed method in this paper has advantages such as a memory saving and an efficient experimental time since the 3D information is obtained simply the triangulation method.

  • 중수로(CANDU) 형 월성 원자력발전소의 칼란드리아 압력관 전면부를 감시점검하기 위한 열영상 관측시스템을 설계/제작하였다. 중수로는 가동중에 핵연료를 교체한다. 칼란드리아 전면부에는 380 개의 압력관 채널이 위치하고 있다. 핵연료를 교체할 시에 핵연료 교체장비가 칼란드리아 압력관 채널의 ENDCAP을 열고 핵연료를 장전하는 과정에서 발생할 지도 모르는 중수누출, 핵연료교체장비의 이상상태를 점검하는데 목적이 있다. 열영상카메라는 상용 CCD 카메라에 비해 영상의 해상도가 떨어진다. CCD 카메라는 수증기 누출과 같은 육안검사에 활용하고, 열영상카메라는 압력관 채널의 온도변화 등을 점검하기 위해 CCD/열영상카메라의 융합구조로 설계/제작하였다.

  • 외계행성 탐색시스템 18k 모자이크 CCD 카메라는 4개의 9k CCD로 구성되며 총 32개 채널의 영상영역과 리드아웃 회로를 가진다. 관측 영상에는 각 영상영역에 대한 오버스캔(overscan) 영역이 포함되는데, 영상 신호에 의한 오버스캔 영역의 바이어스(bias) 교란을 최소화하기 위해 리드아웃 회로의 인버팅 앰프에 대한 Common Mode Rejection Ratio(CMRR)를 미세 조정하였다. 그 결과 세 사이트의 평균 CMRR이 55 dB에서 73 dB로 향상되었고, 기존에는 영상 신호에 따른 오버스캔 바이어스 레벨의 선형적 관계가 약 2/1,000의 기울기를 가졌으나 조정 후에는 약 2/10,000로 바이어스 오차가 줄어들었다. CCD 리드아웃 회로의 미세조정과 클락(clock) 개선을 통해 물결무늬 잡음 제거 및 읽기 잡음 감소가 이루어졌으며, 향후의 추가적인 바이어스 안정화와 크로스톡 개선 방안이 검토되고 있다. 카메라 전자부 조정 과정 및 결과와 더불어, 카메라 듀어와 부대장비 유지보수, Polycold CryoTiger 냉각기 운영 및 개선 관련 노하우도 함께 발표한다.

  • This study is on the development of photogrammetric methode for measuring the size of object without control points. The model is composed of interior orientation parameters, which are consist of specifications of CCD camera and lens distortion parameters, and exterior orientation parameters, which are calculated through relative orientation and scale adjustment. We evaluated the accuracy of the model to find that it is possible to measure the size of object using the model.

  • Purpose: This study is to design a triplet optical system for CCTV camera lens. Methods: It was a telescopic lens with $5^{\circ}$ field angle, 56 mm focal length, 20 mm diameter, and 2/3 inches sized CCD array detector. Results: The performance of the subject optical system was evaluated by applying ray fan, spot diagram, and diffraction optical MTF. The wavelength was achromatized at Fraunhofer C, d and F-line, and both MTF and tangential & sagittal MTF shows more than 70% at spatial frequency of 50 linepairs/mm. Conclusions: The marketable triplet optical system for CCTV camera was designed and its utility was considered.

  • A CCD camera for the BOES (Bohyunsan Observatory Echelle Spectrograph) has been developed. The camera consists of a 2048 ${\times}$ 4096 format CCD, a SDSU Gen-I CCD controller, and a continuous flow cryostat (CFC) designed by the ESO. In order to control the CCD under SDSU Gen-I controller, the voltage level of all the biases and clocks were lowered by -6V. The CFC showed cooling time of about 10 hour, after which the chip temperature settled down with variation less than ${\pm}1^{\circ}C$. The final chip temperature is around -105$^{\circ}C$ with the setting value for the CFC as -170$^{\circ}C$.

  • Recently, in the case of observing the global environment, satellite remote sensing technology has been important. It's because satellite remote sensing is valuable for assessing relatively large areas. But now, small scale remote sensing techniques are needed which can be applicable to the detail investigation of plant tree areas which afforest land after the large scale construction of roads, dams and airports. In this study, we tried to develop and propose a lower altitude sensing technique which can be used in ground remote sensing by using a CCD camera. As a result of this investigation the following can be concluded: We recognized the transference characteristics of filters which were used in comparative tests about the four ground remote sensing devices. We also found that the near-IR camera could be used for an imaging spectral radiometer in the extraction of the vegetation index. Furthermore, we found that the vegetation index has varied hour by hour during the day of the experiment. Finally, we brought about an increase phase of the NDVI in a forest fire, which caused considerable damage, by developing new ground remote sensing technology.

국립과천과학관 1-m 반사망원경을 활용한 4K CCD 테스트 관측

  • 국립과천과학관은 2008년 11월에 개관하였고, 천체관측소에는 직경 1-m 반사망원경과 4k CCD카메라, UBVRI Filter system이 설치되어있다. 국립과천과학관 관측시스템의 시야는 28.16각분이고, CCD카메라는 Cryogenic 방식의 냉각으로 $-110^{\circ}C$ 정도로 냉각할 수 있다. 또한 CCD카메라는 4개의 증폭기(Amplifier)를 이용하여 읽기 시간을 줄일 수 있도록 설계되어 있다. 이 연구는 국립과천과학관 관측시스템을 과학적인 목적으로 사용하기 위해 기기적인 특성을 먼저 알아보기 위함이며 진행 중에 있다. 현재까지 관측한 자료를 바탕으로 시간에 따른 영점영상의 변화, 노출시간에 따른 암전류 영상의 변화, 증폭기 에 따른 영점영상의 차이 등을 분석하였다.
