The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of Cytochalasin B treatment on the survivability The different concentration and exposed times of CB of porcine embryos frozen by vitrification were observed. The results were summarized as follows ; 1. The survivability rates of the porcine embryos treated CB(60.5%) were significantly higher than non-treated(32.8%)(p<0.1). However the recovered with normal morphology rates(84.2%) were no significantly different than non-treated(81.9%). 2. We observed by different concentration of CB treatment, the group of CB treated with 7.5 $\mu\textrm{g}$/$m\ell$ were significantly showed a higher of normal morphology(44/45; 98%) and viability rate(33/45;73%) than other groups(morphology: 65∼70%, viability: 15∼74%)(p<0.05). While the control was lower as 70% of morphology and 38% of viability. 3. We examined exposed time of in-vitro CB treated embryos, the group of more than 20 minutes exposed were significantly were observed a higher rates of normal morphology and viability(p<0.05). And the group of 13 minutes, 14,000 rpm centrifuged(64%) were significantly higher than non-centrifuged(36%). Survivability of porcine embryos were improved in CB treated group. It suggested that 7.5 $\mu\textrm{g}$/$m\ell$ concentration of CB treatment, 20 minutes exposed times and 13 minutes, 14000 rpm centrifuged prior to vitrification improve normal morphology and survivability rates.

This study was designed to develop and to qualify a coffee alternative beverage using a mixture of coffee beans and roasted black beans (Rhynchosia nulubilis). Therefore, the total isoflavone content (TIC), total phenol content (TPC), antioxidant activity, anti-inflammatory activity, NFATc1 (Nuclear factor of activated T-cells c1) expression in RANKL (receptor activator of nuclear factor kappa-B ligand)-stimulated RAW264.7 cells and sensory evaluation were measured for 5 different Cb (coffee bean)-RoS (roasted seomoktae) mixture extracts (Cb100RoS0, Cb75RoS25, Cb50RoS50, Cb25RoS75, and Cb0RoS100). Cb0RoS100 had the highest TIC ($516.83{\pm}36.61mg/100g$) and TPC ($18.11{\pm}1.77mg$ TAE/100 g) along with the highest antioxidant activity as measured by DPPH radical scavenging activity ($73.55{\pm}8.11%$) and ABTS radical scavenging activity ($63.27{\pm}7.27%$). Also, Cb0RoS100 showed the highest anti-inflammatory activity as measured by NO production ($13.57{\pm}2.21{\mu}M$) and PGE2 production ($3.25{\pm}0.21ng/mL$). The more the RoS ratio was increased in the mixtures of Cb-RoS, the more the NFATc1 protein expression was decreased in RANKL-stimulated RAW264.7 cells. In case of sensory evaluation, Cb50RoS50 had the highest scores for flavor, delicate flavor and overall quality, which were similar to those in Cb alone (Cb100RoS0). We suggest that the use of RoS replacement instead of Cb in/as a coffee alternative beverage may help to reduce the risk of caffeine-related bone loss and/or bone disease by effectively blocking NFATc1 expression in RANKL-stimulated RAW264.7 cells compared with Cb alone.

The endocannabinoid system (ECS) plays a key role in the regulation of appetite, body weight and metabolism. We undertook the present study to further clarify the regulation of the cannabinoid CB1 receptor (CB1, CNR1) in human adipose tissue in obesity. CB1 receptor mRNA expression was ~1.6-fold (p<0.004) and 1.9-fold higher (P<0.05) in subcutaneous adipocytes from obese compared to non-obese subjects in microarray and quantitative real-time PCR studies, respectively. Higher CB1 receptor mRNA expression levels in both adipose tissue (~1.2 fold, P<0.05) and adipocytes (~2 fold, P<0.01) were observed in samples from visceral compared to subcutaneous depots collected from 22 obese individuals. Immunofluorescence confocal microscopy demonstrated the presence of CB1 receptor on adipocytes and also adipose tissue macrophages. These data indicate that adipocyte CB1 receptor is up-regulated in human obesity and visceral adipose tissue and also suggest a potential role for the ECS in modulating immune/inflammation as well as fat metabolism in adipose tissue.
Purpose To investigate the physico-chemical properties of CB-ph [2-benzoyloxycinnamaldehyde], an anticancer drug obtained from Cinnamomum cassia using methylenechloride. and its stability in various aqueous solutions. Results CB-ph was rarely soluble in water but soluble in methanol and very soluble in ether. Kinetic salt effect on degradation of CB-ph in buffer solutions at pH 4.0 and 6$0^{\circ}C$ showed a linear relationship having a positive slope that means reactions between hydronium ions and protonated substrates. To investigate the differences in the quality characteristics between commercial Korean native chicken (KNC) and broiler (CB), nutritive and quality parameters of the two chicken species were determined. The KNC thigh muscle had a lower content of crude fat and higher crude ash than the CB thigh. In regards to the fatty acid composition, KNC breast muscle had a higher content of arachidonic acid (C20:4) than CB. The level of inosine was higher in the CB thigh muscle than KNC but there was little difference in other nucleotide compounds. The KNC breast had higher amounts of glycine, alanine, and proline than CB, which are closely related to high quality meat flavor. The sensory acceptance was not significantly different between the breast and thigh of KNC and CB. However, KNC had higher cohesiveness, chewiness and gumminess than CB, which are indicative of a unique texture property. Based on these results, commercial KNC may have superior nutritional quality, taste, and unique texture when compared with CB. Thus, the consumer preference for KNC may be partially explained by these distinctive quality characteristics.
The cytoskeleton has been shown to form a network, connecting the extracelluar matrix via integrin with the nucleus and the cytoplasmic constituents of the cell. It is therefore assumed that the cytoskeleton may mediate signals generated by perturbations originating in the matrix. The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of cytoskeletal change on osteoblastic cell activities. The author cultured osteoblastic cells obtained from neonatal mouse calvaria. The cells were teated with cytochalasin B(CB) or colchicine (COL) at four concentrations for 3 hours and after another 24 hours the conditioned media was collected and assayed for prostaglandin $E_2\;(PGE_2)$, interleukin-6(IL-6), tumor necrosis factor-$\alpha$ (TNF-$\alpha$) and matrix metalloproteinase-1(MMP-1). In addition, the cytoskeletal protein actin were observed by immuno-fluorescence. The results were as follows: 1. The production of $PGE_2$ showed the tendency to be increased in CB-treated group. $PGE_2$ was increased in COL-treated group dose-dependantly, 2. IL-6 production, in CB-treated group, was increased, except at 1.0 ${\mu}g/ml$. IL-6 was induced in COL-treated group. 3. TNF-$\alpha$ production was increased in CB-treated group, except at 1.0 ${\mu}g/ml$, and in COL-treated group, that was increased. 4. The MMP-1 production was decreased in CB-treated soup and was not changed in COL-treated group, which could be selectively visualized by immunoblotting with monospecific antibody. 5. The cytoskeletal actin stress fibers were disappeared and the cells showed to be rounded in CB-treated group. These results indicated that there are a relationship between the cytoskeletal rearrangements and osteoblastic cell activities, especially in release of paracrine/autocrine factors, such as $PGE_2$, IL-6, and TNF-$\alpha$.
A viroid was detected from symptomless Coleus blumei cultivar 'Kong Scarlet'. It consisted of 249 nucleotides(GenBank accession no. EU410620), which was 100% identical to a Coleus blumei viroid 1(CbVd 1) reported from China(GenBank accession no. DQI78399), indicating that the viroid was an isolate of CbVd1. Attempts were made to determine if commercial Coleus seeds were infected with CbVd. Infection rates in seedlings of the 14 commercial cultivars of Coleus ranged from 0 to 100%. CbVd1 caused discoloration and growth retardation in some cultivars, but is symptomless in others. These results indicated that Coleus in commercial markets in Korea is highly infected with CbVd.

As a result of the 2-year monthly monitoring of the phytoplankton community at 3 stations in Mankyeong Estuary, Korea, we learned that cyan bacterial species of the genus Anabaena occurred at most sampling points with huge salinity differences (0.1-32.5 psu). We isolated several clones of Anabaena spp. from the monitoring stations, and screen out two euryhaline and nitrogen-fixing Anabaena clones, CB-MAL21 and CB-MAL22. The two clones were grown under various environmental gradients such as temperature (20, 30, 35 and 40$^{\circ}C$), salinity (0, 2, 5, 15 and 30psu), and $PO_4^{3-}$-P concentration (0, 1.6, 8.0, 40 and 200 ${\mu}M$M). Growth of CB-MAL21 and CB-MAL22 was measured by daily monitoring of chlorophyll fluorescence from each experimental culture for more than three serial transfers. Both the two experimental clones did not grow at 0psu. Maximal growth rates of the two clones were markedly reduced at lower $PO_4^{3-}$-P concentrations showing negligible growth at 0 and 1.6 ${\mu}M$M. However, growth of CB-MAL21 was not affected by low $NO_3^--$ concentration in culture media, showing the nitrogen-fixing ability. Maximum biomass yields of the two clones decreased dramatically at 35 and 40$^{\circ}C$. Optimal growth conditions for the two experimental clones were determined to be 20-30$^{\circ}C$, 40 ${\mu}M$M $PO_4^{3-}$-P, and wide salinity range from 5.0 to over 30psu. Best growth of CB-MAL21 was shown at (20$^{\circ}C$-15psu), which is less saline and cooler condition than those (i.e., 30$^{\circ}C$-30psu) for the best growth of CB-MAL22. The euryhaline and nitrogen-fixing CB-MAL21 strain thus can be a candidate laboratory culture for the future cyan bacterial marine biotechnology in temperate coastal waters.
Elimination reactions of $XC_6H_4CH_2CO_2C_6H_3-2-Y-4-NO_2$ have been studied under various conditions. When X was moderately electron-withdrawing, Y = H, and base-solvent was $R_2$NH-MeCN, the reaction proceeded by the E2 mechanism via an E1cb-like transition state. Concave downward curve was noted in the Hammett plots. When X = 4-$NO_2$, Y = Cl, $CF_3,\;NO_2$, and the base-solvent was ${R_2NH/R_2NH_2}^+$ in 70 mol % MeCN(aq), the reaction proceeded by the E2 mechanism. The mechanism changed to a competing E2 and E1cb when X = 4-$NO_2$ and Y = H, MeO, and to the E1cb when X = 2,4-($NO_2)_2$, and Y = $NO_2$. From these results, a plausible pathway of the change of the mechanism from E2 to the E1cb extreme is proposed.
The purpose of this study is to find out how much the investment effect of convertible bond(CB) is from the perspective of investors and to present efficient investment plans to investors. The research method is to investigate the coupon interest rate, maturity interest rate, conversion price, etc. for CBs. As a result of the study, it was analyzed that CB's investment efficiency was low because the conversion price excess days ratio was only about 1/4 of the conversion date. The conversion day yield was -6.3% and the maturity day yield was -5.2% on average. It was analyzed that the number of stocks with negative conversion day yield was 2.4 times higher than the number of positive stocks and 3.7 times higher than the number of positive stocks with a maturity day yield, so the expected return on equity conversion of CB was low.
