  • In this study, we introduced the concept of ‘case-method’ which is the method to discuss about actual education with a concrete case. And we suggested that case-method need to be applied a program for mathematics teacher professional development. To assist this suggestion, we attempted to examine recent mathematics educational studies that is written by case-study and topics that is included in mathematics teacher educational program. After these examination, we pointed out that case-method with a educational case have not applied in teacher education program in korea. According to the suggestion in this study, we showed a concrete example of case-method. In this example, we set up three perspectives(on general theory of mathematics education, on contents of given case, on application given case to own class) to analysis given case and revealed several disscussion topics each perspective. Finally, we referred to the following research of this paper.

  • For weight reduction of the gearbox of power bogie of high speed train, aluminum alloy is recommended for the material of the gerabox case. In this paper, three models(Steel G/B Case-Steel BRG. Case[model-S], Aluminum G/B Case-Aluminum BRG. Case[model-A], Aluminum G/B Case-Steel BRG. Case[model-AS]) were compared to each other in the view of thermal expansion. The evaluation of the internal load, thermal expansion deformation and lug analysis were executed. It results that the 'model-A' is excessively deformed and fail in the bolt hole of bearing case. Material change of the bearing case to steel(model-AS) is effective to restrain the deformation of the inner radios of the bearing case and to prevent the failure of that.

  • Electronic Industries Association has set a standard format called CDIF(CASE Data Interchange Format) for exchanging information between CASE tools from 1991. If data used on a CASE tool is represented in CDIF format, then any other CASE tools can use the data by translating CDlF format into their own format. In order to do so, each CASE vendor must provide a translator program from CDIF to its own data format or from its own data to CDIF format. In this thesis, we have implemented a source code generator for translating CASE data format into CDIF format only if they provide how data is stored. This automatic program generator generates CDIF statements using data format used in CASE tools, meta information about stored data and CDIF meta information. In the thesis, the automatic program generator has been implemented with Java and Oracle DBMS with JOBC interface in Sun O/S environment.

  • This aim in this study is to investigate the meaning of case management and management in general from the case manger's perspective, as well as case mangers' abilities and networks. We also propose a development direction for the establishment of a local integrated family-centered community management system. Regarding the collection of qualitative data, focus group interviews (FGIs) were conducted with 11 case managers from social welfare organizations in the city of C. The interviews consisted of open-ended questions in the following four categories: understanding of case management, case managers' abilities, case management environments, and local community networks. According to the interview analysis, a total of 16 subcategories in 9 categories and 4 domains have been identified. Due to the ambiguity regarding the concept of case management, case management was completely dependent upon individual case managers' abilities. In particular, family-centered case management was found to exist in several organizations in the same region. In terms of case management environments, the following problems have been observed: absence of related departments and staff, confusion regarding performance evaluation standards, limitations in sharing information among organizations, limitations in resource exploration and management, redundant support, and an uncomfortable relationship between the private and public sector. Horizontal exchange and cooperation among organizations are essential to establish and facilitate a local community network. After all, to establish a local family-centered community case management system, the roles of a Healthy Families Center and a Multi-cultural Family Support Center as parts of a family-centered transfer system should be fully emphasized in local society, and the performance of family-centered case management should be developed.

  • Conventional case-based reasoning (CBR) does not perform efficiently for high-volume datasets because of case retrieval time. To overcome this problem, previous research suggested clustering a case base into several small groups and retrieving neighbors within a corresponding group to a target case. However, this approach generally produces less accurate predictive performance than the conventional CBR. This paper proposes a new case-based reasoning method called the clustering-merging CBR (CM-CBR). The CM-CBR method dynamically indexes a search pool to retrieve neighbors considering the distance between a target case and the centroid of a corresponding cluster. This method is applied to three real-life medical datasets. Results show that the proposed CM-CBR method produces similar or better predictive performance than the conventional CBR and clustering-CBR methods in numerous cases with significantly less computational cost.

  • The basic idea of case-based reasoning is to solve a new problem using the previous problem-solving experiences. In this research we develop a case-based reasoning system for equipment malfunction diagnosis. We first divide the case base into clusters using the case-based clustering technique. Then we develop an appropriate case-based diagnostic system for each cluster. In other words for individual cluster a different case-based diagnostic system which uses different weights for attributes is developed. As a result multiple case-based reasoning system are operating to solve a diagnostic problem. In comparison to the performance of the single case-based reasoning system our system reduces the computation time by 50% and increases the accuracy by 5% point.

  • CASE tools supporting component based development should include functions for modeling, project management, and supporting other phases activities of the development process. Functional requirements of CASE tools supporting component based development are proposed in this paper. Required functions are identified by analyzing the existing CBD CASE tool, and are categorized into modeling, project management, and supporting other phases activities.

  • Computer Aided Software Engineering(CASE) tools are suggested as an automated method for the efficient development of softwares. This study are intended to measure the use level of CASE tools and to provide the meaningful information on the whole software development environment supported by CASE tools. Therefore, the results of a survey on CASE environment in Korea are empirically reported and analyzed. The use of CASE tools is measured; purposes purchasing CASE tools and achievement levels are investigated. Implications from the comparative analysis of the utilization of software engineering methodologies between the CASE user group and the non-user group are described. A proposition is suggested to check the request frequency for program change. Further studies on the reverse engineering, program reuse and the use of CASE tools under distributed processing systems such as client-server environments are suggested.

  • This paper examines the effects of focus types on case ellipsis in Korean. A number of previous studies have suggested that accusative case markers in Korean and Japanese cannot be dropped when the object they mark is contrastively focused (Masunaga, 1988; Yatabe, 1999; Ko, 2000; Lee, 2002). Using experimental evidence, we argue against the view that case ellipsis in Korean is sensitive to the distinction between contrastive vs. non-contrastive focus. An alternative analysis is proposed which accounts for the phenomenon of variable case marking in terms of the interaction between the contrastive strength and the discourse accessibility of focused object NPs. By viewing patterns of case ellipsis as the result of balancing between these two forces, such an analysis can correctly predict the gradient pattern of case ellipsis shown by the three types of focused objects tested in the experiment (contrastive replacing focus, contrastive selecting focus and non-contrastive, informational focus), while at the same time offering an explanation for why subtypes of focus exert distinct influences on case ellipsis.

  • The impersonal or psyc-predicate construction in Old English (=OE) poses a special challenge for most case theories in generative linguistics. In the OE impersonal construction, the experiencer argument is marked by dative, accusative, or nominative, whereas the theme is marked by nominative, genitive, or accusative, or by a PP. The combinations of possible cases for experiencer and theme are not random, bringing about daunting complexity for possible and impossible case frames. In this paper, I develop a conceptual semantic case theory (a la Jackendoff 1990, 1997, 2002; Yip, Maling, and Jackendoff 1987) to provide a unified account for the complicated case frames of the OE impersonal construction. In the conceptual semantic case theory, syntax and semantics have their own independent case assignment principles. For impersonal verbs in OE, I propose that UG leave an option of determining either syntactic or semantic case to lexical items. This proposal opens a new window for the OE impersonal construction, in that it naturally explains both possible and impossible case frames of the construction.
