  • Recently, according to being advanced internet, mobile communication technique, Telematics environment which users in vehicle can use internet service in LAN(Local Area Network) via mobile device has being realized. In this paper, we propose the remote user authentication protocol to solve these issues. Additionally, we use biometrics(fingerprint) for our user authentication protocol cause it can provide to avoid critical weakness that can be lost, stolen, or forgotten and to make authentication easily. In our user authentication protocol, to protect the biometric we use session key which is generated from master key distributed in our key distribution protocol. In particular, we propose secure protocol between APs considering weakness of security in mobile environment. Based on implementation of our proposed protocol, we conform that our proposed protocols are secure from various attack methods and provide real-time authentication.

  • In this paper we designed a high speed wireless multiple access protocol, which is suitable for future multimedia wireless LAN systems which support high quality video teleconferencing, telephony and graphic databases. In the proposed protocol, Slotted-ALOHA protocol is used for transmitting random data packets and the packet reservation multiple access(PRMA) protocol for transmitting periodic data packets. The use of minislot is introduced for the reservation scheme. In order to measure the performance characteristic of the proposed protocol, a simulator is designed using an object oriented programming language, C++, and an exhaustive simulation study is carried out. From the simulation results, it is observed that the proposed protocol and the existing PRMA protocol have almost the same delay characteristic when network traffic is low. However, the proposed protocol is superior to the PRMA protocol when traffic becomes higher. The proposed protocol and the results can be utilized for the design of the wireless access systems and future broadband wireless LANs.

  • In this paper, our goal is to find a power-effective protocol that improves the accuracy of transmission in sensor networks. Therefore we propose a cooperative communication protocol based on MRC(Maximal Ratio Combining) and cyclic code. In our proposal, one sensor node assists two others to communicate with a clusterhead that can get diversity effect and MRC can improve diversity effect also. The proposed protocol with cyclic code can correct error up to 3-bit and reduce decoding complexity compared with convolutional code. Simulation results reveal proposed protocol can save the network energy up to 6dB over single-hop protocol at BER(Bit Error Rate) of $10^{-2}$.

  • This paper proposes and implements a service model to transfer messages safely for PDA on CDMA wireless network and a secure massage transfer protocol which considers characteristics of PDA. Proposed service uses SMS(Short Message Service) connect to a off-line client device with the wired network for data communication. After receiving SMS message, client device processes the SMS message and creates a data channel through RAS(Remote Access Service), then the data of the server can be pushed to clients. The implemented security protocol can provide safe data transmission on each communication line through two way channels(SMS and data). Also, by using security nonce table, this protocol can reduce a number of transmissions for exchanging a safe session key, so intensity of encryption can be increased.

  • In this paper, we propose a coordinator-based reader protocol that can avoid reader collisions in a passive RFID system. In a proposed protocol, unlike conventional protocols that a reader itself selects its own slot randomly to communicate with tags such as DCS, Colorwave, a coordinator reader allocates an unused slot to a reader to participate in the network and sends a current slot number. A reader allocated a slot can communicate with tags. The proposed protocol can adaptively modified to apply for multiple coordinator readers environment in a wide area. This causes reader collision problem, but can be alleviated partly by applying the frequency planning. In this way, we verifies that a RFID system using the proposed protocol is three to five times better than existing systems through the simulation.

  • This thesis proposes hybrid routing protocol that mix proactive routing protocol and reactive routing protocol used in Ad hoc network. Proposed method is that establish special node offering network service of nods which construct Ad hoc network and do routing different from existing hybrid routing protocol, ZRP. Special node doing these parts is called C-node. Routing using C-node can accompany efficient routing by decreasing path institution time and flooding time than existing routing protocol.

  • This paper presents an ARM-based SOC bus transaction verification IP and the usage experiences in SOC designs. The verification IP is an AMBA AHB protocol checker, which captures legal AHB transactions in FSM-style signal sequence checking routines. This checker can be considered as a reusable verification IP since it does not change unless the bus protocol changes. Our AHB protocol checker is designed to be scalable to any number of AHB masters and reusable for various AMBA-based SOC designs. The keys to the scalability and the reusability are Object-Oriented Programming (OOP), virtual port, and bind operation. This paper describes how OOP, virtual port, and bind features are used to implement AHB protocol checker. Using the AHB protocol checker, an AHB simulation monitor is constructed. The monitor checks the legal bus arbitration and detects the first cycle of an AHB transaction. Then it calls AHB protocol checker to check the expected AHB signal sequences. We integrate the AHB bus monitor into Verilog simulation environment to replace time-consuming visual waveform inspection, and it allows us to find design bugs quickly. This paper also discusses AMBA AHB bus transaction coverage metrics and AHB transaction coverage analysis. Test programs for five AHB masters of an SOC, four channel DMAs and a host interface unit are executed and transaction coverage for DMA verification is collected during simulation. These coverage results can be used to determine the weak point of test programs in terms of the number of bus transactions occurred and guide to improve the quality of the test programs. Also, the coverage results can be used to obtain bus utilization statistics since the bus cycles occupied by each AHB master can be obtained.

  • Underwater acoustic sensor networks exhibit characteristics such as high propagation delay and low data rates, which are different from those of terrestrial wireless networks. Therefore, the conventional protocols used in wireless networks can be restrictive and inefficient when applied to underwater acoustic sensor networks. In this paper, we propose a medium access control protocol (MAC) to enhance the energy efficiency and throughput in underwater acoustic sensor networks. The proposed protocol employs a slot-based competition mechanism that reserves a time slot to send a data packet in advance. In the proposed protocol, collision between nodes can occur due to competition to obtain a slot. However, the proposed protocol minimizes the collisions between nodes because the nodes store the reservation information of the neighboring nodes, this reduces unnecessary energy consumption and increases throughput. We perform a simulation to evaluate the performance of the proposed protocol with regard to the energy consumption, the number of collision, channel utilization, throughput and transmission delay. We compare the proposed protocol with the conventional protocol, and the performance results show that the proposed protocol outperforms the conventional protocol.

  • In sensor medium access control (SMAC) protocol, sensor nodes can only access the channel in the scheduling and listening period. However, this fixed working method may generate data latency and high conflict. To solve those problems, scheduling duty in the original SMAC protocol is divided into multiple small scheduling duties (micro duty MD). By applying different micro-dispersed contention channel, sensor nodes can reduce the collision probability of the data and thereby save energy. Based on the given micro-duty, this paper presents an adaptive duty cycle (DC) and back-off algorithm, aiming at detecting the fixed duty cycle in SMAC protocol. According to the given buffer queue length, sensor nodes dynamically change the duty cycle. In the context of low duty cycle and low flow, fair binary exponential back-off (F-BEB) algorithm is applied to reduce data latency. In the context of high duty cycle and high flow, capture avoidance binary exponential back-off (CA-BEB) algorithm is used to further reduce the conflict probability for saving energy consumption. Based on the above two contexts, we propose an improved SMAC protocol, micro duty adaptive SMAC protocol (MDA-SMAC). Comparing the performance between MDA-SMAC protocol and SMAC protocol on the NS-2 simulation platform, the results show that, MDA-SMAC protocol performs better in terms of energy consumption, latency and effective throughput than SMAC protocol, especially in the condition of more crowded network traffic and more sensor nodes.
