High Availability and Load Balancing for Virtual Private Networks by Multiple Links (링크 다중화를 통한 가상 사설망의 고가용성 및 부하 분산 기법)

  • A combination of VPNs and dial-up access, such as DSL and Cable, usually provides the cost-effective solution as the substitution of private networks on high-cost leased line. The business demand for high availability has increased with VPN spreading. This paper presents the schemes for a high availability of network access and a load balancing of network traffic in VPN gateways by using multiple links or multihoming capability based on active-active approach. The high availability and load balancing of network links can be achieved by duplicating external network access into multiple independent links. This can provide a continuous network connection to internal users even if one of the links is failed. Moreover, it can provide twice network bandwidth by distributing the traffic into the links. Static and dynamic algorithms are proposed as the load balancing algorithms.

  • 본 고에서는 유연 생산 시스템 혹은 통합 생산 시스템에서 원활한 데이터 교환을 보장해 줄 수 있는 개방형인 산업용 네트웍인 MAP, Profibus, FIP, SERCOS, CAN 등의 전송 매체, 물리계층, 데이터 링크 계층과 응용 계층을 중심으로 그 특징을 살펴본다. 이러한 특징들을 살펴봄으로써 각 네트웍이 어떤 용도에 특히 알맞는가를 알 수 있을 것이라 생각된다. 제2장에서는 공장의 계층적 구조를 살펴봄으로써 각 계층에 알맞는 네트웍을 알아보고, 제3장에서는 네트웍 설계시 고려할 내용을 성능을 중심으로 알아본다. 4장에서는 MAP의 각 계층의 기능에 대하여 살펴보며, 5장에서는 필드버스의 특성들을 기술한다. 마지막으로 6장에서는 결론을 기술한다.

  • In this paper, a simulator adapted in AMI network environment with NS-2 was designed and implemented. The limited AMI operation environment such as processing times of data, network protocol and system performance can be simulated to find out the optimal AMI formations. Consequently, it is simulated under conditions that are closely analogous to the actual networks and each device. In future, the result of simulation would be applied to AMI network, mitigated the waste of resources and much contributed towards the real optimal AMI deployments in utilities.

  • Banyan network has been widely employed as a basic building block for ATM switches. But the banyan network has very low routing capacity because of the internal blocking problem. Hence, a dilated banyan network has been used as one solution that can overcome the internal blocking problem. However, tremendous network capacity is wasted in the dilated network In this paper, we propose a dilated banyan network with deflection routing and recirculation mechanism to fully utilize the wasted capacity. The performance of the proposed switch is analysed under uniform traffic assumption. Numerical and simulation results show that the proposed switch yields a significant improvement of the maximum throughput as compared that of the pure dilated banyan network.

  • Ubiquitous network consists of various devices using several heterogeneous protocols and requires seamless communication between devices. This paper proposes a new hierarchical event service and multiple event server architecture to implement the service under ubiquitous environment. The proposed event service classifies devices by logical and physical location to abstract the idiosyncrasy of used protocols, and reduces network load. Due to the design consideration, the proposed architecture removes transfer of duplicated event data effectively. As a result, we can guarantee the reliable event delivery. The prototype multiple event server architecture was implemented according to the proposed idea and evaluated its performance under a home network test bed.

  • Recently, R & D about Network Monitoring System is needed to be effective network management and to improve computer education. In this work, we propose a real time network monitoring system named NetCop to improve network management and effective use. This system is designed to show any screen to one or more students in interactive learning environment. The system also provides useful functions such as monitoring students' PCs and chat. In additions, our NetCop can provide more effective learning process to students. Finally, we expect that our system can achieve high network performance and provide high educational quality to managers.

  • Banyan networks have a number of applications in the area of computer and communications. While several analytical models have been proposed for the performance evaluation of Banyan networks, they are either not very accurate of too complex to be generalized. In this paper a new model for evaluating multibuffered MINs with 2*2 switching elements is proposed. the proposed model is very accurate for any size and traffic condition. It is also simple and can be easily generalized.

  • The multi-user VR system can more enhance the sense of reality than existing single user VR system, but it also cause a significant problem about network structure and protocol, since the current Internet using TCP/IP can not afford to deliver such a massive information required to the real-time constraint of multi-user VR system. In this paper, we introduce new network structure and protocol for multiple user's virtual world navigation and interaction through their avatars. The virtual worlds are based on virtual building and managed by distributed servers. The avatars have 9 behaviors and recognize the state of each other by pre-defined network protocol.

  • Network Management become more and more important issue in the network environment in which many applications such as Mail, teleconferencing, WWW and database software are operated. It can be possible for The Bridge and flouter forwarding data to select next hop device which results in routing incorrect path from the viewpoint of network design. In this paper we address the problem of finding the detour routing path due to incorrect setting on routing devices. We propose the new algorithm for finding detour routing path based on hierarchical network structure analysis using information from SNMP MIB. To prove the correctness of the proposed algorithm we have done simulation with predefined data. Simulation results show that the algorithm finds detour path correctly

  • In this paper, we propose a new fault tolerant ATM Switch and a new adaptive self-routing scheme used to make the switch to be fault tolerant. It can provide more multiple paths than the related previous switches between an input/output pair of a switch by adding extra links between switching elements in the same stage and extending the self-routing scheme of the Banyan network. Our routing scheme is as simple as that of the banyan network, which is based on the topological relationships among the switching elements (SE’s) that render a packet to the same destination with the regular self-routing. These topological properties of the Banyan network are discovered in this paper. We present an algebraic proof to show the correctness of this scheme, and an analytic reliability analysis to provide quantitative comparisons with other switches, which shows that the new switch is more cost effective than the Banyan network and other augmented MIN’s in terms of the reliability.
