Implement of VLC System Based on CAN Communication (CAN 통신 연동 가시광 통신 시스템의 확장구현)

  • In this paper, we implement the VLC system based on CAN communication which is usually used in car, plane, ship, product line control system, medical device and industrial device. We implement the application circuit which is VLC and CAN communication and explain the principle. Circuit's pulse features are demonstrated by each part's signal. Total communication distance is 3m and it's transmission performance is error free.

  • The controller area network(CAN) was originally developed to support cheap and rather simple automative applications, However, because of the its performance and low cost, it is also being considered in automated manufacturing and process control environments to interconnect intelligent devices, such as modem sensors and actuators. This paper presents a new application technology of the developed CAN control modules for the automated doors in building automation system. Key pad and RF methods are used to open and close the automated door by the slave CAN module with CAN protocol. BAS application technology of CAN field bus modules is also presented firstly in our nation.

  • CAN(Controller Area Network) 프로토콜은 데이터 링크 계층(Data Link Layer)에서 여러 가지 결함 허용(Faulttolerant) 메커니즘을 기본적으로 제공하기 때문에, 고신뢰성, 고안전성이 요구되는 임베디드 제어 시스템(예: 자동차, 산업제어 등)에서 많이 사용되고 있다. 하지만 제한된 네트워크 대역폭과 이에 따른 응답시간 지연이라는 문제점을 가지고 있으며, 이에 본 논문에서는 전송될 CAN 메시지의 길이를 감소시키기 위해 CAN 메시지의 Stuffing-bit를 최소화하는 메커니즘을 제안하였다. 실험을 통해, CAN 메시지 길이의 축소로 인해 CAN 버스의 부하(Load)를 덜게 되었으며, 네트워크 대역폭 이용률이 증가하는 것을 확인하였다.

  • As vehicles become more intelligent, in-vehicle networking (IVN) systems such as controller area network (CAN) or FlexRay are essential for convenience and safety of drivers. To expand the applicability of IVN systems, attention is currently being focused on the communication between heterogeneous networks such as body networking and chassis networking systems. A gateway based on message mapping method was developed to interconnect FlexRay and CAN networks. However, this type of gateways has the following shortcomings. First, when a message ID was changed, the gateway must be reloaded with a new mapping table reflecting the change. Second, if the number of messages to be transferred between two networks increase, software complexity of gateway increases very rapidly. In order to overcome these disadvantages, this paper presents FlexRay-CAN gateway based on node mapping method. More specifically, this paper presents a node mapping based FlexRay-CAN gateway operation algorithm along with the experimental evaluation for ID change.

Stability evaluation of a proportional valve controller for forward-reverse power shuttle control of agricultural tractors

  • Due to the characteristics of the farmland in Korea, forward and reverse shift is the most used. The fatigue of farmers is caused by forward and reverse shifting with a manual transmission. Therefore, it is necessary to improve the convenience of forward and backward shifting. This study was a basic study on the development of a current control system for forward and reverse shifting of agricultural tractors using proportional control valves and a controller. A test bench was fabricated to evaluate the current control accuracy of the control system, and the stability of the controller was evaluated through CPU (central processing unit) load measurements. A controller was selected to evaluate the stability of the proportional valve controller. The stability evaluation was performed by comparing and analyzing the command current of the controller and the actual current measured. The command current was measured using a CAN (controller area network) communication device and DAQ (data acquisition). The actual current was measured with a current probe and an oscilloscope. The control system and stability evaluation was performed by measuring the CPU load on the controller during control operations. The average load factor was 12.27%, and when 5 tasks were applied, it was shown to be 70.65%. This figure was lower than the CPU limit of 74.34%, when 5 tasks were applied and was judged to be a stable system.

An Efficient ECU Analysis Technology through Non-Random CAN Fuzzing (Non-Random CAN Fuzzing을 통한 효율적인 ECU 분석 기술)

  • Modern vehicles are equipped with a number of ECUs(Electronic Control Units), and ECUs can control vehicles efficiently by communicating each other through CAN(Controller Area Network). However, CAN bus is known to be vulnerable to cyber attacks because of the lack of message authentication and message encryption, and access control. To find these security issues related to vehicle hacking, CAN Fuzzing methods, that analyze the vulnerabilities of ECUs, have been studied. In the existing CAN Fuzzing methods, fuzzing inputs are randomly generated without considering the structure of CAN messages transmitted by ECUs, which results in the non-negligible fuzzing time. In addition, the existing fuzzing solutions have limitations in how to monitor fuzzing results. To deal with the limitations of CAN Fuzzing, in this paper, we propose a Non-Random CAN Fuzzing, which consider the structure of CAN messages and systematically generates fuzzing input values that can cause malfunctions to ECUs. The proposed Non-Random CAN Fuzzing takes less time than the existing CAN Fuzzing solutions, so it can quickly find CAN messages related to malfunctions of ECUs that could be originated from SW implementation errors or CAN DBC(Database CAN) design errors. We evaluated the performance of Non-Random CAN Fuzzing by conducting an experiment in a real vehicle, and proved that the proposed method can find CAN messages related to malfunctions faster than the existing fuzzing solutions.

  • 이동로봇은 동작 특성상 다수의 하드웨어로 구성되기 때문에 분산제어 방식으로 동작하는 것이 필수적이므로 네트워크 기반의 인터페이스 설계가 중요하다. 다양한 네트워크 중 전장에서 산업현장에 이르기까지 여러 분야에 적용중인 CAN 버스 통신을 적용하여 이동로봇을 구성하는 각 하드웨어의 독립성과 장애물 판단, 모터 구동 등을 정확하게 제어함으로써 자율주행에 따른 이동로봇의 성능을 향상시키고 하드웨어 추가에도 대응이 가능하도록 설계하였다.

  • CAN communication can minimize the interfacing lines between equipments because it is composed of only the input and output lines, also is used for automatic system including vehicle, aircraft, railway vehicles and robot because the reliability of data is high by the capability of data-related error detect and correcting function. It can also improve the low-reliable and inefficient system which is composed of the existing Wiring Harness(W/H), so in case of vehicle, it is used in place of the present ECU as the new electro-control unit. In this paper, we constructed the electro-control unit of vehicle by using CAN communication and implemented system that could monitor the condition of vehicle through the web or mobile by connecting the electro-control unit to imbedded system. Such a system is expected to be helpful to the intelligent vehicle and the adoption of ACC(Adaptive Cruise Control).

  • 본 논문은 CAN(Controller Area Network) 통신의 WCRT(Worst Case Response Time) 분석을 통해 IEEE1212 기반 RTU(Remote Terminal Unit)의 통신 신뢰성을 검증한다. RTU는 원격지에서 네트워크를 구성하여 각 모듈들로부터 획득한 정보를 서버로 전송하거나 원격지를 제어하는 역할을 한다. 본 논문에서 대상으로 하는 RTU의 네트워크는 물리계층과 데이터링크 계층은 CAN을 사용하고 응용계층은 IEEE1212 기반으로 통신한다. 즉, RTU를 구성하는 모듈은 각각메모리 영역을 가지고 있고, CAN ID에 메모리 주소를 포함하여 해당 영역을 쓰는 구조로 통신을 한다. 첫 번째로 이러한 응용계층을 고려하여 WCRT를 계산하는 방법을 제시하고, 두 번째로 CAN 메시지의 우선 순위를 최적화하는 방법을 고찰한다. 마지막으로 시험 환경을 구축하고 시뮬레이션을 통해 앞에서 선정한 우선순위에 따라 통신 신뢰성을 검증한다.

  • 본 논문에서는 엘리베이터에서 발생할 수 있는 다양한 고장 요소들을 실시간으로 진단하고 일정시간 이상 운행이 정지된 경우 고장으로 판단하여 운행상태를 CAN 통신을 이용하여 원격으로 모니터링이 가능한 시스템을 설계하였다. 엘리베이터 내의 승객 탑승여부 확인, 현재 운행위치, 주요 고장내용을 실시간으로 진단하고 CAN 메시지를 이용 메인 컨트롤러에 송신하고 엔지니어는 서버기반의 어플리케이션을 통해 확인이 가능하도록 하였다. 또한 자동차, 선박 등 전장분야에 적용되고 있는 CAN 프로토콜을 이용하여 통신의 신뢰성을 확보하고 엘리베이터 관련 운행 및 고장 상태 등을 실시간을 파악할 수 있도록 하여 효율적인 엘리베이터 유지보수를 가능하도록 하였다. 설계된 시스템의 성능평가는 시뮬레이션 및 프로토콜 모니터링을 통해 수행하였다.
