5-Axis CNC Machining of Roller Gear Cam (롤러 기어 캠의 5-축 CNC 가공)

  • The roller gear cam can control the rotational follower periodically by attaching several roller on the circumstance of follower shaft and it is widely used in non-backlash and precise actuating mechanism such as index table or ATC of machine tools. For machining the roller gear cam, 5 axis CNC machine tool is used and the geometric principle of CAM mechanism must be adopted to generate the NC-code and to develop the special CAD/CAM software because there is not commercial CAM system to machine the roller gear cam. The maker of the specially developed software in domestic user is generally from Japan or Taiwan. However these softwares do not reflect the post processing technique for finish machining in the module. Also, there is some limitation for further new application of itself and it needs higher costs for further application. In this study, the CAD/CAM software to overcome these problem was developed. And its reliability was verified by applying it in 5-axis CNC machining. Finally, the experimental result conducted in the 5-axis machining show good consistency in the movement of follower along the flute and in its Size.

  • CAD/CAM Software는 operating system(OS), 도형표시 회화처리, 형상정의, 형상조작, DBMS, 응용등으로 되어 있다. 그림 9에 이들 관계를 표시하고 있다. (1) operating system(OS) OS는 특히 CAD/CAM 특유의 것은 없고, 컴퓨터를 보다 효율있게 이용하기 위한 기본적인 software이다. OS 기능으로는 이하와 같은 것이 있다. .task 관리: CAD/CAM시스템은 일반적으로 복수의 단말에서 부터 다른 응용을 동시에 처리, 또는 back ground 로서 ploter를 움직인다. 이와같은 동질처리 (multitash)의 관리를 행한다. . Data 관리: 외부의 기억장치와의 data 수수를 행하기 위한 기본 software. .통신제어: 타의 컴퓨터와 통신회선으로 연결되어 있을 때, 이들의 data 수수를 행한다. 특히, LAN의 1 node로서 CAD/CAM 시스템이 연결되는 일이 많다. 이 경우, 다른 단말과의 communication 기능이 중요하다. .기타: FORTRAN등의 언어 processor, program 또는 data 관리와 같은 utilities가 포함되어 있다.

  • An impeller is difficult to machine because of severe collision due to the complex shape, overlapping and twisted shape that form impeller blades. So, most CAM software companies have developed CAM module for manufacturing impeller in addition to their CAM software. But it is not still easy for inexperienced users to machine impellers. The purpose of this paper is the development of automatic CAM module for manufacturing impeller(E-ICAM) which is based on visual basic language and it is used CATIA graphical environment in order to be easily machining impellers. Automatic CAM module for manufacturing of impellers generates tool path, and proposes recommended cutting condition according to the material of stock and tool. In addition, it has also included a post processor for 5-axis control machining. Therefore the user can easily machine impellers using this automation module.

  • For a linkage mechanism deiven by cam, cam profile is the major design factor and is determined by the motion type od cam follower. If a cam mechanism has additional kinematic linkages besides cam and follower then the follower motion should be specified form the motion of end linkage member so that cam would be able to generate the desired end linkage motion. In this paper, a cam-linkage mechanism is constructed with the combinations of modular linkage elements including cam and follower and as a resullt, a planar cam-linkage mechanism design software with the cam profile optimization function is developed and presented.

  • In this paper, we developed an automated program for the modeling and manufacturing of three-dimensional roller gear cams. A computer program employing the theory of gearing and coordinate transformation is developed for synthesizing and animating cam mechanisms. Then a module for generation NC program for a five-axis CNC machine to manufacture roller gear cam is established.

  • In this paper, effective and user friendly CAM software is presented that automatically generates any three dimensional complex toolpaths according to a CAD drawing. In advanced manufacturing, often it is essential to scan the sample following a complex trajectory which consists of short (few microns) and multidirectional moves. The reported CAM software offers constant velocity for all short trajectory elements and provides an efficient shift of tool path direction in sharp corners of a tool trajectory, which is vital for any laser, based precision machining. The software also provides fast modification of tool path, automatic and efficient sequencing of path elements in a complicated tool trajectory, location of reference point and automatic fixing of geometrical errors in imported drawing exchange files (DXF) or DWG format files.

  • Copy machines have been used in the 3 dimensional shape machining like the non-sphere surface. This study is intended to show the possibility of manufacturing of a non-sphere shape without a exclusive CAM(Computer Aided Manufacturing) software in the process of metallic mold. It has been examined under the two types of working conditions. One is a cutting by manual programming and the other is a cutting by a general-purpose CAM software. Two kinds of output data were compared and analyzed, and data by a manual program were discovered more accurate than those of a general-purpose CAM software. In this study, I came to a conclusion it is possible to manufacture a 3 dimensional shape without a exclusive CAM software.

  • 본 논문은 CAD/CAM Software의 Script 기능을 이용하여 정밀한 자유곡선을 정확하고, 빠르게 생성할 수 있도록 하기 위한 기법을 연구 결과로서, 적용대상은 Equiangular Scroll Curve 생성을 대상으로 하였다. 관련 식을 검토하기 위하여 Excel Software을 이용하여 검증하였고, Visual Basic Language를 이용하여 보다 편리하게 Scroll Curve를 생성하는 기법을 연구하였다. 그 결과 여섯가지 변수를 설정하여 각각의 Scroll Curve를 생성하여 그 결과를 CAD 화면에 Drawing하여 도면을 생성, 편집할 수 있도록 하였다. 그리고 타 Software와 호환이 가능하도록 하여 다양한 Software에서 사용이 가능하도록 할 수 있게 하였다.
