Application of CAE for Precision Material Forming of Electric Parts (정밀 전기, 전자 부품 성형을 위한 해석 틀의 활용)

  • The key factor of quality in precision metal forming is to meet the requirements of parts size and shape. Particular problem of unflatness occurs frequently. This study focuses on figuring out the cause of unflatness. To predict the amount of unflatness after ejection from tool, equivalent temperature method is used. This method, temperature equivalent to the final stress value is calculated, and it is applied as the boundary condition of the linear static analysis. The final of formed part is used as the geometry model of the static analysis.

  • A finite-element based forging simulator, POSFORM, for automatic computer simulation of two-dimensional and axisymmetric forging processes was introduced in this paper. POSFORM is characterized by solution accuracy, user-friendliness, applicability and extensibility. Basic principles and capabilities of the program were introduced. Several application examples found in cold or hot forging companies of automotive or mechanical parts were given.

  • 3D CAE becomes a key technology to complete a digital engineering system. '3D TIMON', developed by TORAY Industries, Inc., is the useful software to analyze whole injection molding process with solid elements and is capable of generating solid mesh models directly from 3D CAD data. In this paper, we introduce '3D TIMON' and the application examples in the each industries.

  • 미성형은 수지 점도가 높거나 유동경로가 너무 제한적이거나 혹은 용융 수지가 일찍 고화되어 금형내에 수지가 완전히 충전되지 않고 냉각 및 고화되는 현상을 말한다. 일반적으로 수지의 유동성이 부족하기 때문에 금형 전체에 수지가 미치지 못하여 일어난다고 생각되는 수가 많으나 반드시 그것만이 아니고 그 외에 여러 가지 원인이 있을 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 실제 현장에서 미성형이 발생한 제품을 대상으로 이를 해결하기 위해 여러 가지 공정조건을 바꾸어서 시뮬레이션을 여러번 반복해 봄으로써, 사출압력, 금형온도, 사출속도, 용융수지온도와 같은 공정조건들이 미성형에 미치는 영향을 각각 시뮬레이션을 통하여 고찰하여 보았다.

  • 플라스틱 성형 분야는 최근 급속도로 성장한 첨단기술 분야이다. 플라스틱 성형 분야는 종래 전문가의 경험에 주로 의존해 왔으나 시장의 요구가 점점 고급화, 다양화되어감에 따라 경험적인 내용에만 의존해서는 요구를 충족시키기 어렵게 되었다. 이러한 배경에 의하여 플라스틱 성형 분야에 CAE 기법이 도입되었고 괄목할 만한 발전을 이루고 있다. 본 논문에서는 플라스틱분야에서 개발된 최첨단 상용 CAE 소프트웨어인 Planets을 사용하여 기존의 상용 소프트웨어로서는 충분한 정밀도를 얻기 어려웠던 플라스틱 Gear에 대한 사례연구를 수행하였다.

Convergence Technique Study through CAE due to the Shape of Lift for Car (차량용 리프트의 형상에 따른 CAE를 통한 융합 기술 연구)

  • Nowadays, one lift among the fundamental equipments at auto-repair must withstand the heavy weight of car. Therefore, the strong lift which is easy to make repairs on cars is the indispensible equipment. In this study, three kinds of lifts are modelled and the simulation analysis is carried out with the finite element analysis program of ANSYS. The durability of lifts due to each configuration can be estimated on the background of this study result and the data to be contributed to the development of new lift for car with safety and durability can be accumulated ultimately. And it is possible to be grafted onto the convergence technique at design and show the esthetic sense.

Structural Analysis in Conjunction with Injection Molding Analysis for Electrical Power Plug (전자제품용 전원 플러그의 사출-구조 연계해석)

  • Housing and insulation of electrical connectors are made of plastic resin by injection molding process. The metallic inner tube is easily deformed by high pressure during the injection process. In order to prevent deformation of the inner tube, it is desirable to simulate it by structural CAE analysis. However, it takes a long time to calculate the stress- of the part by commercially available injection molding CAE software with sufficient accuracy. In this study, structural analysis in conjunction with injection molding analysis is proposed to improve accuracy of the structural analysis. Pressure distribution on the inner tube is predicted by the injection molding CAE analysis, and then mapped onto the mesh of structural analysis by a mapping algorithm developed in this study. As a result reliable result is obtained in shorter time than the conventional method. The predicted deformation of the inner tube is compared with the actual part after experiment.

  • The gate location in injection molding has a significant influence on the quality and productivity. Therefore, injection molding CAE is used to determine the gate location. With increasing injection molding CAE and the adoption of a 3D mesh, which takes more computation time for analysis, gate location optimization in the shortest time and least resources is the most challenging issue. In this paper, we propose a methodology for optimization based on the flow length to consider the flow balance and weld line. In addition, the flow balance is obtained in the disc-type plate while the weld lines exit the slit-holes to avoid a stress concentration.
