객체기반 CAD 시스템의 건축설계적 효용에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Architectural Design Utility of Object-based CAD System)

  • As architectural forms tend to be large-scaled, high-storied and complicated, use of computer for processing design information has been generalized. However, CAD use in the process of developing architectural design has been neglected greatly in the educational field of architectural field due to the surging of recognition that it may limit the essential property of architectural design. It may be resulted from the limitation of CAD system, that is, it is because of tardy speed of application development for the related areas with the lack of simplicity and clarity of flexibility to be secured on the drawing and user interface. Recent CAD systems, however, overcome such a limitation, convert into object-based design from entity-based drawing, drafting and modeling for implementing design concept of architects and it connects with internet linked to superspeed information communication network and changes process and stream of architectural design. Therefore, this study deals with utility of object based CAD system with products of Autodesk Co. and consequently obtain the following conclusions. First, it expands architect's design areas by supporting cooperative design system based on model-based architectural design and internet. Second, it reduces consumption of personal and material resources and time in the process of drawing production for improving architectural design works. Third, it can reduce the frequent design changes by improving understanding of architectural space with visualization of immediate 3D information, escaping from traditional methods to deliver design information to building owner through 2D drawing or model and perspective drawing requiring much cost and time. Fourth, it keeps exactness without omission or duplication of design information and generate and renew information of all related drawings on a drawing. Fifth, it is possible to change difficult and boring architectural design work into a pleasure owing to immediate modeling and drawing of design idea. In addition, digital drawing generated by using object-based CAD system can playa role of establishing Urban Information System to be used for protecting from building in disaster and urban disasters in connection with GIS numerical map and be used for reference of all kinds of information required fro post-management of buildings. However, what is more important is that surplus time from introduction of object-based CAD system should be used for consideration to be recognized as a good space and building built as a product of this project for comfort to urban people.

두 종류 치과 임플란트 캐드 소프트웨어의 사용자 편의성 및 만족도 비교 (Evaluating usability of and satisfaction with two types of dental CAD software)

  • 목적: 치과 임플란트 캐드 소프트웨어를 사용해 본 경험자와 무경험자에 의한 두 종류 캐드 소프트웨어의 사용자 편의성 및 만족도를 평가하는 것이다. 연구 재료 및 방법: 치과 임플란트 캐드 소프트웨어에 경험이 있는 20명의 치기공사와 캐드 소프트웨어를 사용해보지 않은 12명의 경북대학교 치과대학 학생에게 두 종류의 캐드 소프트웨어(ExoCad, Deltanine)를 이용하여 임플란트 맞춤 지대주(implant custom abutment)를 디자인하도록 하였다. 그리고 구조화된 설문지(1단계: 기본 정보 및 파일 불러오기, 2단계: 지대주 디자인 전 조건 설정, 3단계: 지대주 디자인 설정, 4단계: 전체적인 만족도)를 작성하도록 하였다. 수집된 자료의 통계분석은 Mann-Whitney U test를 사용하였다(${\alpha}=.05$). 결과: 4단계로 나누어 진 21개 문항에 대해 평가된 치과 임플란트 캐드 소프트웨어의 디자인 편의성과 만족도는 1단계의 두 문항에서 모두 Exocad 소프트웨어에서 유의하게 높았습니다. 2단계 및 3단계의 경우 경험이 있는 참가자는 Deltanine 소프트웨어가 훨씬 뛰어나다고 평가했습니다. 4단계에서는 두 문항 모두 Exocad 소프트웨어에서 높은 평가를 받았습니다. 결론: 2 종류 치과 임플란트 캐드 소프트웨어의 편의성 및 만족도 조사에서 Exocad 소프트웨어가 전체적으로 높은 평가를 받았다. 하지만 디자인 과정 중 핵심인 2, 3단계에서 유경험자는 Deltanine 소프트웨어를 높게 평가하였다. 따라서 그외 부분을 보강하면 Deltanine 소프트웨어는 임상에서 널리 사용될 수 있을 것이다.

활선 작업을 위한 원격 조종 인터페이스 개발 (Systemic Development of Tele-Robotic Interface for the Hot-Line Maintenance)

  • This paper describes the development of tele-robotic interface for the hot-line maintenance robot system. One of main issues in designing human-robot interface for the hot-line maintenance robot system is to plan the control procedure for each part of the robotic system. Another issue is that the actual degree of freedom (DOF) in the hot-line maintenance robot system is much greater than that of available control devices such as joysticks and gloves in the remote-cabin. For this purpose, a virtual simulator, which includes the virtual hot-line maintenance robot system and the environment, is developed in the 3D environment using CAD data. It is assumed that the control operation is done in the remote cabin and the overall work process is observed using the main-camera with 2 DOFs. For the input device, two joysticks, one pedal, two data gloves, and a Head Mounted Display (HMD) with tracker sensor were used. The interface is developed for each control mode. Designed human-interface system is operated using high-level control commands which are intuitive and easy to understand without any special training.

웹에 기반한 개방형 분산 HW/SW 통합설계 환경 (Web-based Open Distributed HW/SW Codesign Environment)

  • 하드웨어와 소프트웨어로 구성된 시스템을 동시협조 설계하는 새로운 설계 패러다임인 HW/SW 통합설계를 지원하는 설계 도구가 많이 개발되고 있다. 기존의 HW/SW 통합설계 도구는 빠른 기술 변화, 제한된 플랫폼, 표준화되지 않은 시스템기술, 일관적이지 못한 사용자 인터페이스, 개발 대상의 다양성, 지원 기능의 차이 등으로 인해 일반화되지 못하고 있다 본 논문에서는 이런 문제점을 해결하기 위해, 웹에 기반 한 개방형 분산 HW/SW 통합설계 환경을 제안한다. 제안한 HW/SW 통합설계 환경은 객체에 기반 한 3층 클라이언트/서버 구조를 가지며, 특정 벤더에 구애받지 않는 개방성을 지닌다. 또한 세션 서비스를 이용한 협동 작업 환경을 지원하며, OOUI를 채택해 사용자 인터페이스를 크게 변경하지 않고 새로운 기능을 쉽게 추가할 수 있다. 제안한 환경은 효율적이고 안전한 설계 데이터의 전송을 보장하기 위해 트랜잭션 서버와 보안 서비스를 포함한다. 제안한 환경의 타당성을 입증하기 위 해 웹에 기반 한 개방형 분산 HW/SW 통합설계 환경의 프로토 타입인 WebCEDA를 개발하였다. 제안한 환경은 일반적인 CAD도구의 웹-기반 환경의 모델로 활용될 수 있다.

Determination of bearing type effect on elastomeric bearing selection with SREI-CAD

  • The aim of this paper is to develop software for designing of steel reinforced elastomeric isolator (SREI) according to American Association for State Highway and Transportation Officials Load and Resistance Factor Design (AASHTO LRFD) Specifications. SREI is used for almost all bridge types and special structures. SREI-structures interface defines support boundary conditions and may affect the seismic performance of bridges. Seismic performance of the bridge is also affected by geometrical and materials properties of SREI. The selection of SREI is complicated process includes satisfying all the design constraints arising from code provisions and maximizing performance at the lowest possible cost. In this paper, design stage of SREI is described up to AASHTO LRFD 2012. Up to AASHTO LRFD 2012 analysis and design program of SREI performed different geometrical and material properties are created with C# object-oriented language. SREI-CAD, name of the created software, allows an accurate design for economical estimation of a SREI in a short time. To determine types of SREI effects, two different types of bearings, rectangular and circular with similar materials and dimension properties are selected as an application. Designs of these SREIs are completed with SREI-CAD. It is seen that ensuring the stability of circular elastomer bearing at the service limit state is generally complicated than rectangular bearing.

증강 현실을 이용한 산업 제품의 빠르고 효과적인 디자인 방법 (Rapid and Tangible Method of Product Design using Augmented Reality Technology)

  • 산업 제품을 디자인하는 디자이너들은 CAD(Computer Aided Design)과 같은 방법을 사용하여 새로운 디자인을 만들어내고, 이를 적용한 가상의 3D 모델을 통해 살펴본다. 이 방법은 직접 손으로 도면을 그리고 단순히 한쪽 면만 살펴볼 수 있었던 기존의 방법에 비해서 컴퓨터로 인한 자동화와 다양한 각도에서 제품에 적용된 새로운 디자인을 살펴봄으로써 시간과 비용을 절감할 수 있다. 이에 우리는 앞서 언급한 디자인 방법에 Augmented Reality와 Rapid Prototyping의 개념을 더해 현실적이고 인터랙티브한 산업제품의 디자인 방법을 고안하였다. 이것은 스티로폼과 같은 재질로 만들어진 mockup을 조립하여 만들고, 3D 모델의 컬러, 재질, 버튼 등의 인터페이스 요소와 실제 제품을 조작하는 것과 같은 인터랙티브한 요소들을 적용시킴으로써 제품을 디자인할 수 있는 증강현실기반 시스템이다.

  • In this study we propose a novel approach with which design engineers can define and design free-from surface more easily. Free-from surface is defined as a parameterics shape which consists of a set of contr ol points. Parametric shape which not only has the advantage of allowing users to perform design changes efficiently, but also provides designers with a natural design environment in which they can do their work more naturally and creatively. The objective of this study is to develop a PC level freeform surface modelling system which explicitly represents information of part geometry. In this study, freeform surface modeling system consist of three modules : freeform surface modeler, input/output modules and interface with Database. In recent year there are increasing demands for the 5-axis machining of a complicated shape. This study is the development of a CAM software system (or NC module) for the 5-axis machining of a general shape with a flat-end mill, a round-end mill, a ball-end mill.

An Adaptive Slicing Algorithm for Profiled Edge laminae Tooling

  • Of all the rapid tooling (RT) methods currently available, thick-layer laminated tooling is the most suitable for large-scale, low-cost dies and molds. Currently, the determination of a lamina's contour or profile and the associated slicing algorithms are based on existing rapid prototyping (RP) data manipulation technology. This paper presents a new adaptive slicing algorithm developed exclusively for profiled edge laminae (PEL) tooling PEL tooling is a thick-layer RT technique that involves the assembly of an array of laminae, whose top edges are simultaneously profiled and beveled using a line-of-sight cutting method based on a CAD model of the intended tool surface. The cutting profiles are based on the intersection curve obtained directly from the CAD model to ensure geometrical accuracy. The slicing algorithm determines the lamina thicknesses that minimize the dimensional error using a new tool shape error index. At the same time, the algorithm considers the available lamination thicknesses and desired lamina interface locations. We demonstrate the new slicing algorithm by developing a simple industrial PEL tool based on a CAD part shape.

초고온 진공로 통합설계 최적화 소프트웨어 개발 (Development of Integrated Design and Optimization Software for the High Temperature Furnace Design)

  • High temperature vacuum furnaces or high standard electric furnaces demand high technology level and high production cost. Therefore, an iterative design process and the optimization approach under integrated computing environment are required to reduce the development risk. Moreover, it also required to develop an integrated design software that can manage the centralized database system between factory and design department, and the automated furnace design and analysis. The developed software is dedicated to the development of the vacuum (electric) furnaces. Based on the distribute middleware system, the GUI module, the CAD module, the thermal analysis module and the optimization module are integrated. For the DBMS, Microsoft Access is employed, the GUI is developed using Visual Basic language, and AutoCAD is utilized for the configuration design. By investigating the analysis code interface, the analysis and optimization process, and the data communication method, the overall system architecture, the method to integrate the optimizer and ana lysis codes, and the method to manage the data flow are proposed and verified through the optimal furnace design.

건축형태구상교육을 위한 3차원 CAD모델러의 특성에 따른 프로토를 분석연구 (A Protocol Analysis on the Characteristics of CAD Modeler to Aid Architectural Massing Education)

  • The research focused quantitative comparisons of protocols occurring in the architectural massing process using two different tools, three-dimensional(3D) modeler and traditional design tools, to aid architectural massing education. Through the protocol analysis from some experiments, the research identified the following conclusions: 1) Usage of traditional tools produced much higher protocol rate in proposing solution, evaluating proposed solution, explicitness of strategies. This result seemed to be from convenience of traditional tools causing faster visual cognitive cycle. 2) Usage of 3D modeler produced much higher protocol rate concerning attempts of making design vocabulary. The result indicated 3D modeler has relatively effective functions for mass generation and orientation, however it still has some weaknesses on display interface which cause designer's lower idea generations compared to traditional design tools.
