The Development of 3D Printing Primary Education Program Using CAD SW (CAD SW를 이용한 3D 프린팅 초등 교육 프로그램 개발)

  • As promotion of the 3D printer supply policy, need for 3D printer education is emphasized. But it is few that study of 3D printing educational program teachers can utilize at school. Especially study of CAD SW is very urgent because most of the CAD SW for 3D modeling is difficult and expensive. So in this study, we examine the CAD SW for educational purposes and propose educational programs that can be used at primary school. The instructional model is called "MDIAP" which consists of five stages : Motivation, Demonstration, Imitation, Application, Presentation. Instructional process is consisted of performing tasks and projects. We expect to enhance the function of 3D modeling and creative thinking which is essential to the Fourth Industrial Revolution society.

The Trends of Computer Aided Design in the Clothing and Textiles Programs in U.S.A. Colleges & Universities (의류학관련 학과에서의 CAD의 경향 - 미국내 대학을 중심으로 -)

  • 현재 미국에서 컴퓨터 디자인(Computer aided design)은 의류산업과 의류학 교육에 중요한 역할을 하고 있다. 그러나 한국내 의류학관련 학과에서의 CAD의 도입은 아직 초기 단계에 불과하다. 이에 본 연구는 미국내 대학을 중심으로 의류학관련 학과에서의 전반적인 CAD 교육 경향을 조사 분석하여 실질적인 자료와 국내 의류학관련 학과의 CAD 교육의 나아갈 방향을 제시하는데 그 목적이 있다. 1993년 5월, 총 19문항의 질문지가 124개 대학 의류학관련 학과에 우편으로 배포되었으며 71부가 회수되어 57%의 회수율을 나타내었다. 그 결과는 다음과 같다. 조사 대상(71개 학교)중 56%가 CAD를 커리큘럼에 포함시켰다. 특히 의상디자인 전공을 가진 학과의 79%가 CAD를 도입하여, 의상디자인 전공이 없는 학과(28%가 CAD를 도입)보다 그 비율이 훨씬 높았다. 의류학 교육에서 CAD의 도입은 1988년 이후 급격한 증가 추세를 보였으며, 대부분의 강의는 의류학분야 교수진에 의해, 의류학과 시설물내에서 이루어졌다. CAD를 독립된 과목으로 강의하는 경우 대부분 필수과목으로서 한 학기 코오스가 많았으며 3학년부터 시작되었다. CAD를 다른 의류학 과목에 포함시켜 일부분으로 강의할 경우 영역 별로는 복식 의장학 분야의 과목에, 시간 별로는 한 학기 중 "몇 주" 정도로 가르치는 경우가 가장 많았다. 전체 CAD 강의에서 다루는 주제로는 패턴 메이킹이 가장 많이 차지하였으며 그 다음에는 패턴 그레이딩, 마커 메이킹, 직물/패턴 디자인, 패션 일러스트레이션, 의상디자인 순이며 스토어 레이아웃 상품전시 및 디스플레이 계획이 가장 적었다. 본 연구 결과는 현재 CAD를 강의하고 있거나 앞으로 CAD를 커리큘럼에 도입하려는 한국 의류학 분야 교육자에게 유용한 정보를 제공할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

Effectiveness of Project Based Learning in Mechanical Drawing Education Using CAD (CAD 활용 기계제도 교육에서 PBL 수업의 효과)

  • Although the subject of Mechanical Drawing is very important in mechanical engineering education, it is hard to teach the subject effectively, because it needs to carry out lectures and labs in parallel and needs substantially large portion of CAD lab time. In the department of Mechanical Systems and Design Engineering of SNUST, Project Based Learning is adopted to teach the subject of Mechanical Drawing. In this course, students experience to read and to draw drawings through the PBL project after the lectures on mechanical drawings. In this way, they can learn by heart the drawing skills and the operation of CAD software tools. In this paper, various PBL projects and teaching methods carried out in recent years are presented and the effects of the projects are discussed.

  • Currently, almost all product development in the jewelry industry utilizes 3D CAD and 3D printing. In this situation, 3D CAD modeling and 3D printing ability units in colleges, Tomorrow Learning Card Education, and Course Evaluation-type jewelry design related education are conducted with developed curriculum based on the standards for training standards, training hours, training equipment, and practice materials presented by NCS. Accordingly, this study analyzes 3D CAD modeling and 3D printing training facilities, training hours, training equipment, etc into three categories of NCS precious metal processing and jewelry design, and studies the development of educational systems such as 3D CAD/3D printing curriculum and various environments that meet these standards. Education using this 3D CAD/3D printing education system will enable us to continuously supply professional talent with practical skills not only in the jewelry industry but also in the entire 3D CAD/3D printing manufacturing industry, which is called as one of the pillars of the 4th Industry. The quality of employment of trainees receiving education and the long-term retention rate after employed can also have a positive effect. In addition, excellent educational performance will help improve the recruitment rate of new students in jewelry jobs or manufacturing-related departments, which are difficult to recruit new students in recent years.

Modeling Education for Improving CAD Model Applicability for Product Development Process (제품개발을 고려한 캐드모델의 응용성 향상을 위한 모델링교육)

  • The quality of CAD models affects the efficiency of the product development process. However, it seems that CAD modeling education in colleges simply focuses on the creation of CAD models without considering the quality or the applicability of the models. In this paper, we propose educational modeling approaches to help improve the quality and applicability of CAD models. These methods teach students to create models that include a rich set of information, facilitate downstream applications, and are precisely made with the fewest operations. A survey was carried out with students to validate these approaches.

  • Based upon mail survey method, this empirical research aims to compare the CAD education in four countries in terms of education conditions, education methods, and education performance. Results show that Korea is similar to Japan in many ways, while it differ from U.S.A. or Germany in several respects. Putting less importance in CAD course, Korean professors of CAD were found to be relatively young and deficient of teaching experience and/or industrial experience. And CAD course, which is not compulsory but elective one, is taught in a more crowded (junior) class with less satisfactory hardware and software. In the education goal or contents, the CAD courses in Korea lack real world problems or applications, concentrating less on students-based or problem-based learning methods than Germany or U.S.A.. Consequently, Korean CAD education is outperformed by German or U.S. one in educational performance both in skill improvement and in attitude enhancement.

Survey on CAD Softwares Used in Small Contractors and Improvement to College CAD Education (중소규모 건설회사 CAD 활용현황과 대학교육 방안)

  • A survey of small-size contractors in Jeju was conducted to investigate college graduate's CAD (computer aided design) competence. Most of small-size contractors use CAD softwares to review and update drawings submitted from an architect. This research analyzed the curriculum of the architectural engineering in several national universities. The CAD classes have 4 or 6 hours per week and use AutoCAD primarily. This research proposes that a CAD class needs at least 6 hours per week, 2D drawing is the main theme in the curriculum, and exercises to make 3D models are also included in the CAD class. The improved methods, Internet cafe and real time feedbacks using a smartphone, to evaluate the reports and exercise results are necessary.

  • The objectives of this study is to create an environment which students could apply effectively through focused on the innovative methods of education and CAD course contents. The facts which were able to figure out from this study were as follows ; 1. After the analysis of the CAD course contents of the american universities, their common contents were in order of introduce to Computer Aided Drafting and design with Auto CAD/ provide fundamental knowledge of the application for use in design/ examine and how this effects 2 D image and model creation/ CAD as a design tool . Over all trend of CAD course contents of interior design program in american university is moving toward utilizing CAD as a design tool. 2. On the other hand, common contents of our local universities were simply introducing CAD. It means that our course contents are more methodological and theoreatical . And american university's program is focused on problem solving solution as a design tool.

  • This empirical research aims to identify and compare key success factors in Computer Aided Design (CAD) education in Korea, Japan, Germany and USA. Employing a couple of statistical methods (multiple regression and factor analysis) on survey data, it was found that the decisive factors in the CAD education differed among four countries. Generally speaking, however, educational methods are less important than educational conditions, of which professors and educational environment are dominant factors. This implies that the so called constructivistic way of teaching/learning is not so effective as expected. In order to improve educational performance in Korea, as far as CAD education is concerned, professors need to enhance relationship with industry and universities to support more hardware and software.

  • 본 논문에서는 초 .중등학교의 교육정보화 시설 및 장비관리의 효율성 제고방안을 제안하였다. 이를 위해 CAD 도면의 BOM 정보를 활용한 학교시설관리와 업무처리 방안을 모색하였다. 먼저, BOM 기능을 활용하여 시설 장비 객체와 관리정보를 함께 기록한 CAD 도민을 얻고, 여기에서 관리대상 객체에 대한 속성을 추출하여 관리정보 DB를 구축하였다. 이를 토대로 구현한 시선관리시스템에서는 사용자가 검색조건을 부여하여 필요한 관리정보를 산출할 수 있도록 하였다. 이 시스템을 통해 효율적이고 통합적인 학교시설 . 장비관리가 가능함을 보였다.
