  • To investigate the interaction and skin damage of valsartan with polysorbate 80, the physical mixture of valsartan and polysorbate 80 was prepared and then its adhesion, dispersibility, DSC and skin damage in nude rats were investigated. The physical mixture of valsartan and polysorbate 80 appeared as an aggregated form and could hardly be dispersed in water. The DSC curve showed that physical mixture disappeared the intrinsic peaks of valsartan and polysorbate 80 at about $115^{\circ}C$ and $170^{\circ}C$, respectively. It appeared a new relatively broad endothermic peak at about $150^{\circ}C$, suggesting that valsartan was chemically interacted with polysorbate 80. Furthermore, it induced the severe skin irritation and damage in nude mice. Thus, polysorbate 80 must not be used in the preparation of valsartan-loaded pharmaceutical dosage forms.

  • Tobacco seeds (Nicotiana tabacum L. cv KF109) were primed in the polyethylene glycol 6000(PEG) solution and then stored at 5 and $25^{\circ}C$ under 40, 60 and 80% relative humidity (RH) conditions for six months. The effect of storage temperature and humidity on mean germination time ($T_{50}$), longevity and germination of the primed tobacco seeds were compared. Untreated seeds (control) stored at $5^{\circ}C$ showed high germinability throughout the entire storage period and humidity, and a decline in germinability showed after 6 months at 60% RH and after 3 months at 80% RH when stored at $25^{\circ}C$, Primed seeds retained high germinability until 6 months at 60% RH and 3 months at 80% RH when stored at $5^{\circ}C$ but showed a significant decline in germinability after 3 months at 40% RH, and 1 months at 60% and 80% RH, respectively when stored at $25^{\circ}C$, Primed seeds were completely lost viability when stored at $25^{\circ}C$ under 60% RH for 6 months and under 80% RH for 3 months.

  • Antioxdant effect was studied in model system with linoleic acid methylester and tocochromanols $({\alpha}-,\;{\beta}-,\;{\gamma}-,\;{\delta}-tocopherol\;and \;{\alpha}-,\;{\gamma}-,\;{\delta}-tocotrienol)$ under definite autoxidation condition-temperature $(40,\;60,\;80^{\circ}C),\;O_2\;(0,\;10,\;20%\;O_2\;in\;N_2)$. 13-Hydroperoxy-9-cis-11-trans-, 13-hydroperoxy-9-trans-11-trans-, 9-hydroperoxy-10-trans-12-cis-, 9-hydroperoxy-10-trans-12-trans-octadecadienoic acid methylester as the major oxidation product were produced from linoleic acid methylester by autoxidation, analyzed with HPLC and antioxidant activities were compared by their quantitative changes. Experimental results showed that all added tocochromanols except ${\alpha}-tocotrienol$ had antioxidant effect at $60^{\circ}C$, and also ${\alpha}-tocopherol$, ${\alpha}-tocotrienol$ and ${\delta}-tocotrienol$ had prooxidant effect at $80^{\circ}C$. And cis/trans-hydroperoxide was predominantly produced at $40^{\circ}C$, but trans/trans-hydroperoxide at $80^{\circ}C$. Except no reproductive experimental data in produced hydroperoxides amount, the production ratio of cis/trans-:trans/trans-hydroperoxides in the autoxidation condition of range from $40^{\circ}C/10%,\;O_2\;to\;60^{\circ}C/20%\;O_2$ were as follows: ${\alpha}-T>{\alpha}-T_3>{\gamma}-T>{\beta}-T>{\gamma}-T_3>{\delta}-T>{\delta}-T_3$. This result showed that ${\alpha}-tocopherol$ among tocochromanols had the lowest antioxidant effect.

  • In this experiment, the effect of internal temperature on the physical properties of Hanwoo beef eye of round (ER) and center of heel (CH) during boiling was investigated. The pH value of Hanwoo beef ER and CH began to increase significantly (p<0.05) compared to raw meat around an internal temperature of $40^{\circ}C$ and $50^{\circ}C$, respectively; in addition, it showed the biggest changes around $70^{\circ}C$ and $80^{\circ}C$, respectively. No significant difference beyond the temperatures noted above was observed. The $L^*$ value of Hanwoo beef ER and CH began to increase significantly around an internal temperature of $50^{\circ}C$ and $60^{\circ}C$, respectively, while the $a^*$ and $b^*$ values kept decreasing up to $80^{\circ}C$ (p<0.05). None of these values showed a significant difference beyond the threshold temperature ($50{\sim}60^{\circ}C$ for the $L^*$ value, $80^{\circ}C$ for the $a^*$ and $b^*$ values). Hanwoo beef ER and CH showed the highest cooking loss and lowest water holding capacity around an internal temperature of $60^{\circ}C$ and $70^{\circ}C$, respectively. No significant difference was observed beyond those temperatures. The hardness, gumminess and chewiness of Hanwoo beef ER and CH showed the biggest change around an internal temperature of $70^{\circ}C$ and $80^{\circ}C$, respectively, while their cohesiveness showed the biggest change around $60^{\circ}C$ and $70^{\circ}C$, respectively. No significant difference was observed beyond those temperatures. The springiness of Hanwoo beef ER and CH shown began to increase significantly around an internal temperature of $70^{\circ}C$ and $80^{\circ}C$, respectively, while it began to decrease significantly around $90^{\circ}C$ (p<0.05). Hanwoo beef ER showed a faster change in its physical properties due to boiling compared to CH.

  • A Insecticidal effect of Ginkgo biloba leaves extract was conducted for Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus as a predominant species in korea. D. pteronyssinus has been cultured in constant temperature and humidity chamber at the 25$^{\circ}C$ and 75% of relative humidity. The mortality of mites was determined by counting the dead bodies for every hour within 48 hours with pin hall microscope after treated by Ginkgo biloba leaves extract spreaded on 0.1 g of mass cultured media. The sequence of mortality for D. pteronyssinus are as follows, bilobalide was 91.6%, 80$^{\circ}C$ water extract was 82.8%, second water fraction was 75%, ethyl acetate fraction from 80$^{\circ}C$ water fraction was 73%, first ethyl acetate fraction from 80$^{\circ}C$ water extract was 69.4%, putaltrin was 65%, distilled water was 58%, methanol extract was 57.8%, Ginkgolide-A was 57.1 %, ethyl acetate fraction of 80$^{\circ}C$ water extract was 55%, respectively. From the these results we conclude that the bilobalide is the most effective component in the Ginkgo biloba leaves extract having insecticidal effect on house dust mite.

  • The ferroelectric $Pb(Zr_xTi_{1-x})O_3$ (20/80, 80/20) heterolayered thin films were fabricated from an alkoxide-based by Sol-Gel method. The PZT(20/80) and PZT(80/20) stock solution were made and spin-coated on the Pt/Ti/$SiO_2$/Si substrate by turns. Each layers were baked to remove the organic materials at 300[$^{\circ}C$] for 30[min]. and sintered at 650[$^{\circ}C$] for 1[hr]. This procedure was repeated 5 times. At this time the thickness of thin films were about 4000[$\AA$]. Relative dielectric constant and remanent polarization of the PZT heterolayered thin films were 1200, 27.10 [${\mu}C/cm^2$], respectively.

  • In this paper the effect of aging heat treatment to the Corrosion behavior for the Nimonic 80A superalloy was studied by AC Impedance methods. Tested solution was 3.5% with tempera-ture $25^{\circ}C$ Electro-chemical corrosion test were carried out for the Nimonic 80A super-alloy which solution heat treated at $1080^{\circ}C$ for 8 hours followed by aging heat treated at $650^{\circ}C,\;700^{\circ}C,\;750^{\circ}C\;800^{\circ}C$ and $850^{\circ}C$ with 16hours under vacuum environment. The obtained results were as follows; 1. Base metal and solution-treated materials were exhibited similar corrosion tendency as Ran-dle equivalent cell. The value of passive film resistance was 579 ohms for the base metal and 124,770 ohms for the solutionized metal such a difference was arose by the ${{\gamma}_^'}$ precipitate on the metal surface during heat treatment. 2. The measure value of $R_p$ for heat-treated at $650^{\circ}C,\;700^{\circ}C,\;800^{\circ}C$and $850^{\circ}C$ were 97,943, 93, 111, 26,961, 15,798 and 11,780ohm respectively. Which indicated that the passive film resistance Rp was reduced as aging temperature increased due to the growth of grain size and sensitization at the grain boundary. 3. The similar tendency was exhibited for corrosion behavior of the electro-chemical corrosion polarization method and AC impedance method and confirmed that AC impedance method was useful tool for corrosion research.
