7'-Aldehyde-nucleosides analogue (2a, 2c) were synthesized from 6-N-benzoyl-2',3'-O-isopropylideneadenosine and uridine. The condensation of 2 with ethoxycarbonylmethylene Wittig reagent produced the adenosine and uridine analogues containing extended conjugated diene and ethoxycarbonyl group, ethyl-1',5',6',7',8'-pentadeoxy-1'-(adenin-9-yl)-$\beta$-D-ribo-nona-5'(E),7'(E)-dienofuranuronate (4b) and ethyl-1'. 5',6',7',8'-pentadeoxy-1'-(uracil-1-yl)-$\beta$-D-ribo-nona-5'(E),7'-(E)-dienofuranuronate (4c). 9-[8',8'-dibromo-5',6',7',8' -tetradeoxy-$\beta$-D-ribo-octa-5'(E),7'(E)-diene]nucleosides (6b, 6c) were also prepared from 2 with similar method.
Objective: This study was conducted to investigate the effects of Aconiti Tuber on the plasma IL-6 and $TNF-{\alpha}$ level in mice stimulated by intracerebroventricular(I.C.V.) Injection of Lipopolysaccharide(LPS). Method: 6 mice were assigned to each of the normal group, the control group, and the experimental group. In the normal group only saline was administered intragastrically, and in the control group LPS was injected intracerebro-ventricularly 1 hr after intragastric administration of saline. In the experimental groups (Aconiti Tuber 0.5g/kg, Aconiti Tuber 1.0g/kg, Aconiti Tuber 3.0g/kg) each sample was administered intragastrically to mice 1 hr prior to the stimulation by LPS I.C.V. Injection. To measure the plasma IL-6 and $TNF-{\alpha}$ level of mice, their blood samples were collected from retro-orbital plexus, immediately centrifuged at $4^{\circ}C$, and plasma was removed and stored frozen at $-83^{\circ}C$ for later determination of plasma IL-6 and $TNF-{\alpha}$. Result : 1. LPS I.C.V. Injection increased plasma IL-6 level significantly in a dose-dependent manner compared with normal group(P<0.01). The plasma IL-6 concentration reached a significant maximal level about 1 hr after LPS I.C.V. Injection(P<0.001). LPS I.C.V. Injection increased plasma $TNF-{\alpha}$ level significantly in a dose-dependent manner(P<0.05). The plasma $TNF-{\alpha}$ concentration reached a significant maximal level about 1 hr after LPS I.C.V. Injection(P<0.001). 2. Sample A group to which Aconiti Tuber(0.5g/kg) was administered intragastrically 1 hr prior to the stimulation by LPS I.C.V. Injection showed insignificant lower plasma IL-6 level in 1 hr than control group(P<0.0635), and sample B group (Aconiti Tuber 1.0g/kg) showed significant lower plasma IL-6 level in 1 hr than control group(P〈0.05), and sample C group (Aconiti Tuber 3.0g/kg) showed significant lower IL-6 plasma level in 1 hr than control group(P<0.01). 3. sample A group to which Aconiti Tuber(0.5g/kg) was administered intragastrically 1 hr prior to the stimulation by LPS I.C.V. Injection showed insignificant lower plasma $TNF-{\alpha}$ level in 1 hr than control group(P>0.05), and Both sample B(1.0g/kg) and sample C(3.0g/kg) groups showed significant lower $TNF-{\alpha}$ plasma level in 1 hr than control group(P<0.01). These data revealed that Aconiti Tuber might have the anti inflammatory effect by reducing the plasma IL-6 and $TNF-{\alpha}$ level in a dose dependent manner in mice LPS I.C.V. Injection.
In the sheep and cattle's rumen, facultative anaerobic cellulolytic bacteria were isolated by using Hungate's roll tube technique. In the 21 isolated species, one was screened by its strong cellulolytic activity and identified as Cellulomonas fimi C-14 by investigate morphological, cultural, physiological characteristics and electron microgram. Optimum conditions of the cell growth and enzyme production were pH 6.5 an $30^{\circ}C$, Thiamine and biotin support a good growth of C. fimi C-14. In the enzyme activities, Crystalline cellulose hydrolyzing activity, CMCase activity and ${\beta}-glucosidase$ activity were 20.6, 226.6 and 0.56$(unit{\times}10^3/ml)$ at pH 6.0, $40^{\circ}C$. By addition of fungal cellulase, enzyme activity was increased. Simultaneous Saccharification Fermentation is better than two step fermentation in ethanol yield with Saccharomyces cerevisiae DY2.
The effect of storage temperature and time on the contents of metal (Pb, Sn and Fe), vitamin C, color and pH was studied for canned pineapple juice (PJ) and pineapple slice (PS) which were stored for 120 hours at 5 and 2$0^{\circ}C$ and analyzed at 24 hours intervals. The results are as follows; 1. The metal contents of PJ and PS were in the rank of 24<48<72<96<120 hours by storage time at 5 and 2$0^{\circ}C$. These contents were increased to 44.1%/24 hrs of Ph, 18.0%/24 hrs of Sn, 34.6%/24 hrs of Fe but decreased to 6.0%/24 hrs of vitamin C in PJ and PS during 120 hrs. Storage times were correlation to contents of metal and pH but was not correlation to vitamin C contents. These were increased to 37.7%/24 hrs of Pb, 18.8%/24 hrs of Sn, 34.6%/24 hrs of Fe, but decreased to 6.0%/24 hrs of vitamin C. 2. These were increased to 10.6% of Pb, 3.7% of Sn, 11.3% of Fe in PJ and to 33.7% of Pb, 4.8% of Sn, 37.6% of Fe in PS at 2$0^{\circ}C$ than 5$^{\circ}C$ but vitamin C contents were decreased to 8.2% in PJ and 2.7% in PS at 2$0^{\circ}C$ than 5$^{\circ}C$. This fact suggests that more attention be paid in handling canned PJ and PS after opening in order to avoid the decreasing vitamin C and the hazard from Pb, Sn, Fe. 3. Changing factors in Pb, Sn, Fe and vatiamin C content were in the rank of storage temperature$0^{\circ}C$.
Background: This study investigated the distribution of valve incompetence in patients with chronic venous disease (CVD) and its correlation with the clinical category of the clinical, etiological, anatomical, and pathophysiological (CEAP) classification. Methods: In total, 1,386 limbs with clinically suspected CVD were categorized according to the CEAP classification and consecutively underwent duplex ultrasonography between April 2017 and December 2020. Results: There were 362 limbs in male patients and 1,024 limbs in female patients. The limbs were classified as C0s-C1 (608 limbs, 43.8%), C2 (727 limbs, 52.5%), or C3-C6 (51 limbs, 3.7%). The prevalence of saphenous vein incompetence in CEAP C0s-C1 limbs was 43.6%. The saphenofemoral junction (SFJ) was competent in 37% of CEAP C2-C6 limbs. The CEAP C3-C6 category was not correlated with reflux patterns of the saphenous vein system (Cramer's V=0.07), incompetent SFJ (Cramer's V=0.07), deep vein reflux (Cramer's V=0.03), or the distribution of incompetent segments in the great saphenous vein (GSV) (Cramer's V=0.11). Conclusion: Duplex ultrasonography is necessary to formulate a proper treatment plan for limbs categorized as CEAP C0s-C1. The SFJ was competent in more than one-third of CEAP C2-C6 limbs with GSV reflux; as such, flush ligation of the GSV may be unnecessary in these patients. The CEAP C3-C6 category showed no correlations with reflux patterns of the saphenous vein system, SFJ reflux, deep vein reflux, or the distribution of incompetent segments in the GSV.
The adsorption dynamics of activated carbon (AC) and carbon molecular sieve (CMS) beds were studied to recover ethylene from FCC fuel gas. In this study, the FCC fuel gas used consisted of six-component mixture ($CH_4/C_2H_4/C_2H_6/C_3H_6/N_2/H_2$,32:15:14:2:12:25 vol.%). And the breakthrough experiments of adsorption and desorption were carried out. The breakthrough sequence in the AC bed was $H_2$ < $N_2$ < $CH_4$ < $C_2H_4$ < $C_2H_6$ while the sequence in the CMS bed was $H_2$ < $CH_4$ < $N_2$ < $C_2H_6$ < $C_2H_4$. The separation performance of the CMS bed during the adsorption step was lower than that of the AC bed. However, due to the characteristics of kinetic separation, the CMS bed could remove $CH_4/N_2$ as well asthe molecules that are larger than $C_2H_6$, which was not easy to be done by the AC bed. Since it was hard to regenerate the adsorption bed by simple depressurization, vacuum regeneration should be adopted. As a result, the pressure vacuum swing adsorption (PVSA) process, consisting of CMS pretreatment process and AC main process, was suggested to recover ethylene efficiently.
The synthesis of pentahydroindanoisoquinoline (4) compound has been achieved via the cyclization of 2-(N-benzylamino)-5,6-difluoro-1-indanol (10a, 10b), which was prepared by condensation and reduction of 2-amino-1-indanol and benzaldehyde in ethanol. The stereochemistry of $H_{6a}$ and $H_{11b}$ of 9,10-difluoro-5,6,6a,7,11b-pentahydroindano[2,1-c]isoquinoline (4) was the trans B/C ring fusion.
The synthesis of title compounds were accomplished by synthetic sequence shown in Scheme 1. Chalcones on cyclocondensation with thiourea in ethanol and potassium hydroxide under reflux yielded the respective dihydropyramidin-2(1H)-thiones. Each of the dihydropyrimidin thiones was, then subjected to the Mannich condensation in alkaline medium using three different secondary amines, viz., dimethylamine, diethylamine and morpholine to obtain a new series of S-Mannich bases. All the synthesised compounds ($C_1-C_{15}$) were evaluated for their antiulcer and antibacterial activities. Compounds $C_4$, $C_5$, $C_6$, $C_{14}$ and $C_{15}$ exhibited relatively more potent antiulcer activity but not comparable to the standard; Omeprazole, while $C_1$, $C_2$, $C_3$ and $C_{13}$ were moderate in activity at 100 mg/kg p.o. All the compounds ($C_1-C_{15}$) showed mild to moderate activity against both Gram-positive (S.aureus, L.delbrueckii) and Gram-negative (P.vulgaris, E.coli) bacteria. Amongst the compounds tested, only $C_6$, $C_9$, $C_{12}$ and $C_{15}$ were found to be potent.
$^{13}C-NMR$ behaviors of phenolic compounds such as phenol, catechol, pyrogallol, resorcine, phoroglucine and hydroquinone were studied. From the study on the effects of OH-substitution on benzene and its dervatives it was found that the additivity rule can be applied to the ortho-and para-effect but not to the meta-effect for the OH-function. The empirically calculated chemical shifts regarding the o-and p-effects coincide very well with the results of measurement. The chemical shifts of the phenolic compounds can be classified into three types. 1) Catechol-type C-1 and C-2 145 ppm C-3 and C-6 116-107 ppm 2) Pyrogallol-type C-1 132ppm C-2 and C-6 146ppm C-3 and C-5 106ppm 3) Resorcin-type C-1 and C-3 159ppm C-2 103-95ppm C-4 and C-6 107ppm

Purpose: The cross-protection of 7-valent pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (PCV7) against vaccine-related serotypes has been controversial. We investigated the serological properties of cross-protective antibodies against vaccine-related serotypes 6A, 6C, and 19A induced in young children aged 12-23 months after booster immunization of PCV7. Methods: IgG and IgM antibody concentrations and opsonic index (OI) against vaccine serotypes 6B and 19F and vaccine-related serotypes 6A, 6C, and 19A were measured by ELISA and opsonophagocytic killing assay (OPA) in 4 selected immunesera. The serological properties and antigenic specificity of protective antibodies were determined by IgM depletion of immunesera, OPA, and competitive OPA against serogroup 6 and 19 pneumococci. Results: Compared to pre-IgM depleted immunesera, OI of IgM-depleted immunesera against 6B and 19F decreased and OI against 6A, 6C, and 19A decreased, too. In competition OPA, free 6B and 19F polysaccharide completely inhibited the immune protection against vaccine-related serotypes 6A, 6C, and 19A as well as vaccine types 6B and 19F. Conclusions: The booster immunization of PCV7 certainly induced cross-protective antibodies against vaccine-related serotypes 6A, 6C, and 19A with both IgG and IgM isotypes. Furthermore, IgM antibodies are more highly contributed to opsonophagocytic activity against vaccine-related serotypes as well as most of vaccine types than do IgG antibodies. Further studies are needed for the more immunized sera in the children as well as adults.
