고화토차수층에 대한 산성침출수의 영향과 대책방안 - 산업부산물(고로슬래그, 플라이애쉬) 재활용 방안 중심으로 - (Effect of Acidic Leachate on the Cement-based Landfill Soil Liner System)

  • 본 연구는 산성상태의 침출수가 차수층에 미치는 영향을 규명하고 년간 산업부산물로 다량 배출되는 고로슬래그, 플라이애쉬를 재활용하기 위한 한 방안으로 매립지 차수층에 첨가시의 역할을 규명하기 위한 기초연구자료이다. 산성침출수가 고화차수층에 미치는 영향을 고찰하기 위해 압축강도와 투수계수 실험결과, 고화재(시멘트)와 준설점토로 성형된 고화차수층의 경우 산성상태의 침출수에 노출됨에 따라 압축강도 감소와 투수계수 증가현상을 나타내었다. 반면 고로슬래그와 플라이애쉬를 첨가한 고화토차수층의 경우는 산성상태의 침출수에 영향을 크게 받지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 이는 고알카리 상태를 나타내는 고로슬래그와 플라이애쉬의 경우 차수층 내부로 침투되어 수화반응에 의해 생성된 칼슘계 수화물을 용해하는 산성물질의 용해작용을 방해하기 때문으로 판단된다.

  • 정어리를 효율적으로 이용하기 위한 하나의 방안으로서, 식염농도가 낮은 정어리젓의 가공조건을 설정하고자 젖산, sorbitol, glycerin, 에틸알코올을 첨가하여 숙성 중의 pH, 휘발성염기질소 등의 변화를 관능검사와 더불어 실험한 결과 정어리젓의 최적가공조건은 정어리육에 대하여 젓산 $0.5\%$, sorbitol $6\%$, 에틸알코올 $6\%$를 젓담금할 때 첨가하여 60일간 숙성시키는 것이라는 결론을 얻었다.

치과용 Ti-6Al-4V 합금 골 고정판 표면에 형성된 나노튜브의 부식거동 (Corrosion Behavior of Nanotube Formed on the Bone Plate of Ti-6Al-4V Alloy for Dental Use)

  • Titanium and titanium alloys are widely used for orthopedic and dental implants for their superior mechanical properties, low modulus, excellent corrosion resistance and good biocompatibility. In this study, corrosion behaviors of nanotube formed on the bone plate of Ti-6Al-4V alloy for dental use have been investigated. $TiO_2$ nanotubes were formed on the dental bone plates by anodization in $H_3PO_4$ containing 0.6 wt % NaF solution at $25^{\circ}C$. Electrochemical experiments were performed using a conventional three-electrode configuration with a platinum counter electrode and a saturated calomel reference electrode. Anodization was carried out using a scanning potentiostat (EG&G Co, Model 263A USA), and all experiments were conducted at room temperature. The surface morphology was observed using field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM) and energy dispersive x-ray spectroscopy(EDS). The corrosion behavior of the dental bone plates was examined using potentiodynamic test(potential range of -1500~2000 mV) in a 0.9% NaCl solution by potentiostat (EG&G Co, PARSTAT 2273. USA). The inner diameter of nanotube was about 150~180 nm with wall thickness of about 20 nm. The interspace of nanotube to nanotube was 50 nm. The passive region of the nanotube formed bone plates showed the broad range compared to non-nanotube formed bone plates. The corrosion surface of sample was covered with corrosion products.

찹쌀첨가량에 따른 백편의 조직감 특성의 변화

  • 백편을 만들 때 멥쌀가루 100에 찹쌀가루를 총중량의 0%, 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, 25%, 30% 첨가하고 저장시간 0시간, 24시간, 48시간, 72시간 저장한 후 (4$^{\circ}C$에서) reheating 한 백편의 기호성과 조직감(Texture)에 어떠한 영향을 끼치는 가를 관능검사와 기계적 검사에 의해 측정한 결과를 다음과 같이 요약할 수 있다 1. 관능검사 결과 백편의 Color 는 찹쌀의 첨가량이 증가할수록 누런색이 짙어졌으며, 24, 48, 72 시간 저장한 후 reheating 한 백편도 누런색이 짙어지는 경향을 나타냈다. Coarseness 는 찹쌀의 첨가량이 증가할수록 증가하는 경향이었으나 저장전의 백편은 유의적인 경향을 나타내지 않았다. 찹쌀의 첨가량이 증가할수록 Softness, Dryness, crumblyness는 감소경향을 나타냈으며 24, 48, 72 시간을 저장한 후 reheating 한 백편도 유의적인 감소경향을 나타냈다. 외관의 기호도는 찹쌀의 첨가율이 5% 인 백편을 가장 좋아했고, 조직감 및 종합적인 기호도는 찹쌀의 첨가율이 10~20%인 백편을 좋아했다. 2. Rhemeter에 의한 백편의 Texture는 찹쌀의 첨가량이 증가할수록 Compression force, gumminess, Chewiness가 증가하는 경향을 나타냈다. 24, 48, 72 시간 저장한 후 reheating 한 백편은 저장전보다 점점 감소경향을 나타냈다가 72시간 저장한 후 reheating 하면 다시 증가경향을 나타냈다. Work ratio 및 Recovered height는 찹쌀의 첨가량과 저장시간의 변화에 크게 영향을 미치지 않았다. Recovered 하지 않고 0, 24, 48, 72 시간 저장한 백편의 Compressing force는 찹쌀의 첨가량이 증가할수록 증가경향이 컸고 저장시간이 경과함에 따라 Compression force가 증가하였는데 특히 24시간 저장하는 동안 급격히 증가하였다. 3. 찹쌀 첨가량이 증가할수록 수분함량은 증가하였고, 저장시간이 경과함에 따라 수분함량은 감소경향을 나타냈으나 24시간 저장한 후 reheating 한 백편만이 수분함량의 증가경향을 나타내었다. 4. qoruvs의 Softness 는 Compression force 및 Work ratio 와 유의적인 상관관계를 나타내었으며, Dryness 와 Crumblyness 는 Work ratio와 유의적인 상관관계를 나타내고 있어 백편의 조직감은 Compression force 와 Work ratio로 대치할 수 있을 것이라고 사료된다. 수분함량은 기계적 검사보다 관능검사와 더욱 높은 상관관계를 나타냈다.

단백질(蛋白質) 품질평가(品質評價)를 위(爲)한 신속방법(迅速方法) (Rapid In Vitro Methods for Protein Evaluation)

  • The protein nutritional quality of foods has become an important factor to food processors with the advent of nutritional labeling regulations for foods. Then, as is true today, the officially approved assay for protein nutritional quality was the rat based protein efficiency ratio(PER) bioassay. The PER bioassay requires a minimum of 28 days to performe, and is therefore not applicable to routine quality assurance use by the food industry. Within the past ten years there has been a research emphasis placed on the development of rapid, inexpensive, biological and/or chemical based assays for protein nutritional quality. It was hoped that if a rapid assay could be developed and thoroughly tested, it could be used in lieu of the PER bioassay in the day-to-day quality assurance screening of food ingredients and products. The rapid assays developed in the hope of attaining this goal have been based on microorganisms, proteolytic enzymes, and amino acid profiles, as well as combinations of the above. In this review, it will be described and briefly discussed many of procedures which had contributed conceptually as well as practically to the development of in vitro methods for the evaluation of protein quality. Special emphasis will be placed on the C-PER(computed protein efficiency ratio) assay which combines data from in vitro protease digestion and amino acid composition to predict protein nutritional quality designed by Satterlee et al. (1980), and the DC-PER(discriminant computed PER) which is a method of estimating protein quality based on rat assay and in vitro digestibility obtained using solely essential amino acid data will be also introduced.

  • Male sexual differentiation involves a cascade of events initiated by the presence on the Y chromosome of the of the SRY (sex determining region of Y chromosome) gene, which causes the indifferent gonad to develop into a testis. Hormonal products of the testis, predominantly testosterone and Mullerian inhibiting subtance (MIS), then control the sexual differentiation of the developing fetus. SRY is a transcription factor; however, target genes for its action have yet to be identified, because the DNA recognition sequence for SRY is found in many genes. Therefore the study of intersex disorders is being used to identify other genes active in the pathway of sexual differentiation. Patients with 46,XY gonadal dysgenesis, or Swyer's syndrome, have streak gonads, normal stature, and a sexually infantile phenotype with Mullerian structures present. The inheritance is usually sporadic but can be autosomal dominant or X-linked recessive. Unlike 45,X patients, stigmata of Turner syndrome are rare. As many as 20 to 30% of patients are at risk for malignant gonadal tumor formation and should undergo gonadectomy soon after the diagnosis is made. We have experienced a case of Swyer syndrome which showed a positive SRY gene in peripheral blood and gonad. So we report this case with a brief review of literatures.

임신 전반기 여성의 철분 영양상태와 식사의 질 (The Iron Status and Diet Quality of Pregnant Women during the First Five Months of Pregnancy)

  • Literature suggests that iron deficiency anemia is prevalent among pregnant women all over the world. This study was designed to evaluate the iron status of pregnant women during the fist five months, with the intention of determining ways to reduce the prevalence of iron deficiency anemia among pregnant women in Korea. We collected dietary information and measured the biochemical status of iron in 171 pregnant women over 16 weeks of gestation (=16.7$\pm$2.34 week). Dietary intakes for 3 days were collected using the 24 hour recall and food record methods. The daily Fe intake was measured using the food frequency method. The Body Mass Index (BMI), calculated by using the pre-pregnancy weight and height, indicated that 31.3% of subjects were under-weight. We divided the subjects into normal and anemic group by using the serum ferritin levels. It appeared that the mean dietary intake of iron was 52.3% of the recommended level for pregnant women. The dietary quality evaluation showed that pregnant women ate only 58% of the recommended amount in the food groups of meat, fish, eggs, beans and milk and dairy products. The hematological indices showed that the mean Hemoglobin (Hb) was 11.9 g/dl, Hematocrit (Hct) was 35.1%, ferritin was 23.9 $ng/ml$, and transferrin was 297.3 ${\mu}g/dl$. The dietary intake of iron was significantly lower and the vitamin C intake was significantly higher in the anemic group. The pre-pregnancy BMI was significantly lower in the anemic group. Variables affecting iron intake were the Fe intake frequency index and the food group score. The Fe index showed significantly positive correlation with the pre-pregnancy food intake and the food group score. Hb showed a significantly positive correlation with the pre-pregnancy food intake. We concluded that strategies to improve iron status be implemented in the pre-pregnant stage so as to reduce the prevalence of iron deficiency and that we should stress on the importance of an adequate diet as well as the maintenance of a heathy weight.

한국 전통발효식품인 청국장에서 분리한 Bacillus methylotrophicus에 의한 항산화물질의 생산 (Antioxidant Production by Bacillus methylotrophicus Isolated from Chungkookjang, Korean Traditional Fermented Food)

  • Although antioxidant activities of Korean traditional fermented foods were reported by many researchers, study on antioxidant activity of microorganism originated from Korean traditional fermented foods was little. Therefore, we improved condition for antioxidant production by a bacterium isolated from home-made Chungkookjang. We selected a bacterial strain, which showed the highest antioxidative activity, from Chungkookjang and then named GJ. The selected GJ strain was identified as Bacillus methylotrophicus by alignment data of 16S rRNA gene nucleotide sequences. Improved medium compositions for DPPH radical scavenging activity were 0.25% sucrose, 1% peptone, 0.01% $MgSO_4{\cdot}7H_2O$ and initial pH 6.5, respectively. Optimal culture conditions were $30^{\circ}C$, 200 rpm and 4% inoculum volume, respectively. In improved conditions, DPPH radical scavenging activity of GJ reached to 91% in a short time. The strain GJ also possessed ACE inhibition and other antioxidative activities; ACE inhibition activity (49.4%), ABTS radical scavenging activity (99.8%), metal chelating activity (67.9%), SOD-like activity (36.5%) and reducing power ($A_{700}$ = 5.982) were observed, respectively. Therefore, our results suggest that B. methylotrophicus GJ strain may be potential candidate for functional foods, cosmetic products for anti-aging and medicine for diseases caused by oxidative stress.

The penetration enhancement and the lipolystic effects of TAT-GKH, in both In vitro, Ex vivo, and In vivo.

  • It was demonstrated that Transactivating transcriptional activator(TAT) protein from HIV-1 shown to enter cells when added to the surrounding media. TAT peptide chemically attached to various proteins was able to deliver these proteins to various cell and even in tissues in mice with high levels in heart and spleen. In this study, the tripeptide GKH(Glycine-Lysine-Histidine) derived from Parathyroid hormone (PTH), which was known as lipolytic peptide, is attached to 9-poly Lysine(TAT) to be used as a cosmetic ingredient for slimming products. When Glycerol release, expressed as extracellular glycerol concentration, is lipolysis index, TAT-GKH at $10^{-5}$mo1/L induces approximately 41.5% maximal lipolytic effects in epididymal adipocytes isolated from rats, compared with basal lipolysis. Epididymal adipose tissues of male rats is assessed ex vivo by microdialysis. Probes are perfused with Ringer solution in which increasing concentrations of TAT-GKH. The perfusion of TAT-GKH induces lipolytic effect. Penetration study showed that TAT-GKH efficiently elevates 36 times higher penetration into the excised hairless mice skin than GKH. in vivo study showed that TAT-GKH had a better effect upon the relative volume of eye bag after 28 days of application on twenty(+2) healthy female volunteers. It was identified that TAT-GKH increases penetration enhancement and lipolytic effects in both in vitro, ex vivo and in vivo.

신용장의 에스컬레이션 조항 (Price Escalation Clause of Letter of Credit)

  • 에스컬레이션 조항의 목적은 외부가격 메카니즘에 따라 신용장금액을 증가시키기 위한 것이다. 이것은 금속이나 석유제품거래에서 발견된다. 신용장의 에스컬레이션 조항은 그 조항이 실행 가능한 것으로 신용장을 구성하느냐 여부에 대한 의문을 야기시킨다. 신용장 이외의 근거에 대한 참조는 신용장을 신용장 이외의 다른 약정에 구속시키는 비 서류적 조건이라는 것이다. 그러나 객관적이고, 쉽게 얻을 수 있는 지표에 대한 참조는 신용장 약정을 모호하게 하는 것이 아니고, 객관적 자료로 입증할 수 있다는 점에서 비서류적 조건이 아니다. 가능한 해결책은 UCP에서 신용장의 비서류적 조건 중 일부를 유효한 것으로 인정하는 것이다. 예컨대 신용장에 언급된 지표는 UCP가 적용되는 신용장거래에서도 ISP98이나 URDG75에 규정된 것처럼 무시하지 않는 것이다. 비서류적 조건이 "중심적이고 기초적"인 것이라면, 그것은 당사자가 비독립적인 지급약정을 할 의도가 있은 것으로 보인다. 당사자 간의 갈등을 극복하는 가장 공통적인 수단은 에스컬레이션 조항이 포함된 신용장을 발행하되, 개설은행의 최대지급약정의 한도를 설정하는 것이다.
