Anti-oxidant Activity of Saussurea lappa C.B. Clarke Roots

  • This study was performed to investigate the potential use of Saussurea lappa C.B. Clarke as a source of antioxidant agents. Various solvent fractionates from S. lappa C.B. Clarke roots were investigated for their anti-oxidative effectiveness. The contents of total phenolics and flavonoids were determined by the Folin-Ciocalteu's colorimetric and the aluminum nitrate method, respectively. Total phenolic and flavonoid contents of n-butanol soluble fractionates from S. lappa C.B. Clarke, 44.43 ${\mu}g$ gallic acid equilibrium (GAE)/g extract and 92.15 ${\mu}g$ quercetin equilibrium (QE)/g extract, respectively, were higher than those of other solvent fractionates. The n-butanol soluble fractionates of S. lappa C.B. Clarke (1,000 ppm) showed the strongest inhibitory potential on 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical and reducing power at 92.98% and 0.38, respectively. Thus, our data shows that the S. lappa C.B. Clarke plant may help prevent antioxidative stress.

  • P. oleovorans의 유가식 배양에서 탄소원으로 octanoic acid, 질소원으로 $NH_4NO_3$를 이용한 혼합기질을 배양액의 pH 변화에 따라 공급하는 pH-stat 기질공급전략을 개발하였다. 공급기질의 탄소원/질소원 비 (C/N 비)를 변화시킴으로써 최종 균체농도, PHA 농도, PHA 함량 등을 변화시킬 수 있었으며, 최대 균체농도는 C/N 비가 10 (g octanoic acid/g $NH_4NO_3$)일 때 65 g/L, 최대 PHA 농도는 C/N 비가 20일 때 41 g/L, 최대 PHA 함량은 C/N 비가 20일 때 75%였으며 최대 PHA 생산성은 C/N 비가 10일 때 1.03 g/L/h였다.

대장균 tRNAVal에 결합하는 RNA Aptamer들의 시험관내 선별 (In vitro Selection of RNA Aptamers which Bind to Escherichia coli tRNAVal)

  • $tRNA^{Val}$에 결합하는 RNA 요소들을 확인하기 위해 SELEX 방법을 수행하였다. 양끝에 보존된 primer 서열을 가지고 가운데 무작위의 48-mer 올리고 누클레오티드 영역을 가진 DNA 문고를 T7 RNA 중합효소를 이용하여 전사시켜 얻은 RNA pool을 가지고 $tRNA^{Val}$이 고정된 affinity column을 이용하여 14번의 선별 과정을 거쳐 FNA aptamer들을 선별하였다. 몇몇 aptamer들은 세 가지 rRNA들의 고리 영역에 있는 서열과 유사한 서열을 가졌다: 5S rRNA의 C43GAAC47 서열, 16S rRNA의 G1491AAGU1495와 G1379UUCC1383 서열 그리고 23S rRNA의 C1064UUAG1068, G2110UGUA2114, C2480GACGG2485와 A2600CAGU2604 서열. 이 결과들은 $tRNA^{Val}$가 리보솜에서 5S rRNA, 16S rRNA 및 23S rRNA와 다양하게 상호작용 할 수 있다는 것을 암시한다.

산란계종의 잡잡강세리용에 관한 연구 (Study on Utilization of Heterosis in Layer Chicken)

  • This study was carried out to estimate combining abilitie or economic traits in layer chickens. The data used in this study were the record of 10 single crosses produced by half diallel cross of 5 lines of Single Comb White Leghorns, such as A, B, C, K and S lines. Total 720 progenies of the crosses were reared at the Poultry Breeding Farm, College of Agriculture, Seoul National University from Feb. 1979 to August, 1980. Combining abilities were estimated by Grilling's mathematical model for the traits; age the first egg, total egg number, egg weight and body weight. The results attained from the studies were summarized as follows; In estimate of combining ability, an age at first egg of BS cross was largely due to significiantly higher general combining ability (G. C. A.) effect of B and S strains than Cand K strains in G. C. A. effect, and to specific combining ability (S. C. A) effect of B and S-trains. AB and BS crosses showed the highest egg Production. AB cross performance was result from high G.C.A. effect of A ana B strains. BS cross performance was result from high G. C. A. effect of B and high S. C. A. effect of BS cross. Specific combining ability effect in egg. weight was not statiscally significiant, but S strain showed high G. C. A. effect. A and B strains in body weight showed significantly low C. C. A. effect. From the above results, BS cross in an age at first egg, AB and BS crosses in egg Production, S strain in egg weight and AB cross in body weight were superior to other strains or crosses.

추출 조건에 따른 어수리의 항산화 활성 및 성분 분석 (Anti-oxidative Activity and Chemical Composition of Various Heracleum moellendorffii Hance Extracts)

  • 본 연구는 생식으로만 이용하고 있는 어수리 잎을 이용한 기능성 제품을 개발하는데 기초자료를 제공하기 위하여 물과 에탄올을 사용하여($80^{\circ}C$ 50% 에탄올/ $20^{\circ}C$ 50% 에탄올/ $80^{\circ}C$ water/ $20^{\circ}C$ water) 어수리를 추출하여 항산화 활성을 살펴보았다. 항산화성 물질 중 총 폴리페놀 함량은 $80^{\circ}C$에서 50% 에탄올 추출물이 64.73 mg GAE/g으로 가장 높은 함량을 나타내었다. 항산화활성을 측정한 결과 $80^{\circ}C$에서 50% 에탄올로 추출하였을 때 DPPH radical 소거능은 50 ppm에서 69.14%, reducing power는 1000 ppm에서 흡광도 0.93을 나타내었고, ABTS+ radical 소거능은 1000 ppm에서 85.62%의 성을 보여 본 연구에서 사용한 추출방법 중 가장 높은 항산화활성을 보였다. 항산화 활성이 높게 나타난 50% 에탄올 추출물의 일반성분 측정결과 수분함량은 6.38%, 조단백질 함량은 4.35%, 조지방 함량은 0.67%, 그리고 조회분 함량은 1.96%였다. 또한 무기질 분석결과 Na 53.41 mg/100 g, K 396.26 mg/100 g, Mg 5.80 mg/ 100 g, P 47.17 mg/100 g, Zn 0.40 mg/100 g, Fe 5.27 mg/100 g, 그리고 Ca 3.56 mg/100 g으로 나타났다. 기능성 소재 개발의 일환으로 어수리 에탄올 추출물의 항산화관련 성분을 분석한 결과 총 페놀함량과 플라보노이드 함량은 각각 64.73 mg GAE/g과 49.54 mg RE/g로 나타났다. 이상의 결과로 볼 때 어수리를 이용한 기능성식품 제조 시 $80^{\circ}C$에서 50% 에탄올을 이용하여 추출하는 것이 항산화 효과를 높일 수 있는 방법이라고 생각된다.

Comparison of Carcass Composition of Iranian Fat-tailed Sheep

  • Most breeds of sheep in Iran are adapted to their agro ecological niches where it is likely that they were also artificially selected by their owners. In general, most of sheep breeds are multipurpose producing lambs, wool and milk. To compare the physical and chemical composition of the carcasses of ten Iranian native fat-tailed sheep breeds, 243 male lambs (6-7 months of age) of ten fattailed, Iranian breeds of sheep, Sanjabi (S), Ghezel (G), Afshari (A), Mehrabani (M), Lori (L), Lori Bakhtiari (LB), Kordi Khorasan (K), Sangesari (Sa), Baluchi (B) and Chal (C) were studied. Lamb breed group had a significant (p<0.05) effect on all the carcass traits measured. The LB and C lambs showed the same live weight which was significantly (p<0.05) higher than the other breeds. Carcass dressing- out percentage in S lambs was lowest (p<0.05), but not different from G lambs. K and Sa breeds showed the highest (p<0.05) carcass dressing-out percentage. The S lambs had the highest (p<0.05) lean meat percent. Lean meat percentage was not significantly (p>0.05) different in the G, A, M and C breeds. The Sa and K breeds showed the lowest lean meat percent. The S lambs showed the lowest (p<0.05) fat percent in their carcass, while K and Sa showed the highest (p<0.05). Subcutaneous fat in K, Sa and B was higher (p<0.05) than the other breeds. Lambs of S, G, A and M breeds had the lowest subcutaneous fat in their carcasses (p>0.05). Intramascular fat was significantly (p<0.05) lower in M, S and C despite the fact that this values were highest in B and K lambs. The K and Sa breeds had highest fat-tail percentage (p<0.05) in their carcass, whereas S and G showed lowest. Lambs of G, S and A breeds had higher bone percent than other breeds (p<0.05). Lowest bone percent (p<0.05) was seen in K and Sa lambs. The carcass moisture percent was not significantly (p>0.05) different in S, G, A, M, L and C breeds. M lambs showed the lowest crude protein percentage and S breed the highest (p<0.05). There were no significant (p>0.05) differences among other lamb breeds for this trait. Chemical fat percentage was the same in S, G, A, C and M breeds, but significantly (p<0.05) lower from LB, K, Sa and B. Ash percent in S, G and A had no significant (p>0.05) difference. According to higher lean meat and lower fat percentages in the carcass, the ranking of breeds would be S, G, A, M and C.

  • A series of 1-aryl-lH-pyrazolo[4,3-c]quinolines and 2-aryl-2H-pyrazolo[4,3-c]quinolines are prepared by reacting 3-acyl-4-chloroquinolines in ethanol or 3-acyl-4(lH)-quinolone in acetic acid with appropriate hydrazines as possible anti-ulcer agents. A regiospecific synthesis of 1-aryl-lH-pyrazolo[4,3-c]quinolines is also achieved. The central pyridine ring could be easily reduced by catalytic hydrogenation.

  • Let G be a simple graph with vertex set V(G) and edge set E(G). A subset S of E(G) is called an edge cover of G if the subgraph induced by S is a spanning subgraph of G. The maximum number of edge covers which form a partition of E(G) is called edge covering chromatic number of G, denoted by X'c(G). It is known that for any graph G with minimum degree ${\delta},\;{\delta}-1{\le}X'c(G){\le}{\delta}$. If $X'c(G) ={\delta}$, then G is called a graph of CI class, otherwise G is called a graph of CII class. It is easy to prove that the problem of deciding whether a given graph is of CI class or CII class is NP-complete. In this paper, we consider the classification of nearly bipartite graph and give some sufficient conditions for a nearly bipartite graph to be of CI class.

정신(精神) 박약아(薄弱兒)의 구강(口腔) 상태(狀態)에 관(關)한 고찰(考察) (A STUDY OF ORAL STATUS OF MENTAL RETARDED CHILDREN)

  • The purpose of this study was to make a comprehensive study & evaluation of the oral status of mental retarded children. The auther examined intraorally 486 (male; 311, female;175) mental retarded children. The result was as follows; (General mental retarded children means the children who live in their parent's home, & orphan mental retarded children means the children who live in orphanage.) 1. The dft rate was 31.6% in general mental retarded children (G.m.r.c.) & 20.7% in orphan mental retarded children (O. m. r. c.). The dft index was 3.73 in G.m.r.c. & 2.15 in O.m.r.c. 2. The DMFT rate was 24.6% in female G.m.r.c., 16.7% in male G.m.r.c., 12.7% in female O.m.r.c., 8.4% in male O.m.r.c. The DMFT index was 4.94 in female G.m.r.c., 4.01 in male G.m.r.c., 1.40 in male O.m.r.c., 2.75 in female O.m.r.c. 3. The malocclusion prevalence was 57.3%. the class I malocclusion was 14.2% Class II malocclusion 19.3%, Class III malocclusion 23.5%. The children with Down's syndrome had 60.0% of class III malocclusion prevalence. 4. The dental calculus index was 1.97 in male O.m.r.c., 1.81 in female O.m.r.c., 1.30 in male G.m.r.e., 1.13 in female G.m.r.c. 5. The dental plaque index was 3.06 in female G.m.r.c., 3.00 in male Gm.r.e. 2.70 in male O.m.r,c., 2.32 in female O.m.r.c.
