  • This experiment was conducted to investigate the effect of soil heating on control of root-knot nematode(Meloidogyne incognita Chitwood) by root zone warming system. Root zone was warmed by hot water flowing through pipe set at 35cm depth from the ridge The lowest soil temperatures at 20cm depth were set at 3$0^{\circ}C$, 4$0^{\circ}C$, $50^{\circ}C$ and non-warming. under soil submerging condition and non-submerging condition. Soil heating was done for 5 days(120 hours) from Aug. 1 to Aug. 5. The root-knot nematode juvenile densities of 4$0^{\circ}C$ under submerging condition. and $50^{\circ}C$ under non-submerging condition were 0 which was expected lower than the economic injury level. The contents of OM P$_2$ $O_{5}$, Ca Mg and EC in soil were decreased by root zone warming The EC was considerably lowered under submerging condition.

  • On the basis of lithology, the Precambrian Hongjesa Granitic Gneiss can be locally zoned into granoblastic granitic gneiss, porphyroblastic granitic gneiss, migmatitic gneiss from its center to the marginal part. There are no distinct differences in mineral assemblages by lithologic zoning, but it partly shows the change of mineral assemblage in the adjacent with migmatitic gneiss, thus mineral assemblage can be subdivided into Zone I and Zone II. In terms of mineral compositions, the characteristics of Zone I are coexisting K-feldspar+muscovite+sillimanite. The characteristics of Zone II are (1) breakdown of muscovite, (2) coexisting garnetScordierite, (3) coexisting garnet+cordierite + orthoamphibole. The Buncheon Granitic Gneiss is mainly composed of augen gneiss. In the adjacent area with Honjesa Granitic Gneisses, Buncheon Granitic Gneiss has the mineral assemblage of sillimanite+biotite+K-feldspar+(kyanite). Kyanite occurs as relict grains in the Buncheon and Hongjesa Granitic Gneissess. Kyanite shows anhedral to subhedral form and coexists with sillimanite in only one of these samples. Garnet from a migmatitic gneiss (Zone 11) has relatively high $X_{Fe}$ value in core and rim. Garnet from a porphyroblastic granitic gneiss(Zone I) has relatively homogemeous core but compositionally-zoned rim. Biotites show various colour from greenish-brown, brown to reddish brown at maximum adsorption. Also, the Ti, and Mg content in biotites increases from Zone I to Zone II. The plagioclases shows the chemical composition of $Ab_{84}An_{16}$ -$Ab_{70}An_{30}$ (oligoclase) in Zone I and $Ab_{70}An_{30}$ -$Ab_{50}An_{50}$(andesine) in Zone 11. These variations indicate that the gneisses in the study area experienced a upperamphibolite facies. The presence of kyanite as relict grains indicates that the metamorphic rocks in this area exprienced a high-temperature/medium-pressure type metamorphism, followed by high-temperaturellow-pressure metamorphism. Metamorphic P-T conditions for each gneiss estimated from various geothermobarometers and phase equilibria are 698-$729^{\circ}C$/6.3-11.3 kbar in augen gneiss, 621-$667^{\circ}C$/1.0-5.4 kbar in migmatitic gneiss, and 602-$624^{\circ}C$/1.9-3.4 kbar in porphyroblastic granitic gneiss. These data suggest that the study area was subjected to a clockwise P-T path with isothermal decompression (dP/dT=about 60 bar/$^{\circ}C$).

  • In the presented study, SM45C carbon steel parts were joined by friction welding. The welding process was carried out under optimized conditions using statistical approach. The study of SM45C is conducted with various combinations of process parameters. Parameter optimization, microstructure and mechanical property correlation are the major contribution of the study. The welded joints were produced by varying spindle revolution speed, friction pressure, upset pressure and burn-off length. Tension tests were applied to welded parts to obtain the strength of the joints. Fracturs properties were additionally obtained experimentally under fluctuated tensile loads. Microstructures using microphotographs were examined in the weld interface and weld region and heat affected zone and base metal and flash zone of welded parts. Finally, Hardness variations in welding zone and base metal were also obtained. Through these tests, the optimum conditions of parameters for ${\phi}20$ SM45C in friction welding were obtained when the friction spindle revolution was 1,950 rpm, the friction pressures was 30 MPs, upset pressures was 50 MPs.

  • This paper predicts and measures the C/N ratio of a beacon signal transmitted from geostationary orbit satellite KorSat 5A ($113^{\circ}E$) at a ground station located in Kimpo. Based on the ground stations, we compared the rain attenuation of the zone K of ITU-R and the rain attenuation which analyzed the domestic weather information. In ITU-R, the Korean rainfall characteristics are classified into zone K, but forecasting the rainfall intensity and attenuation of three adjacent cities based on the cumulative rainfall data per minute from 2013 to 2017. The calculation of rainfall path and attenuation is based on ITU-R recommendations. The change of the C/N according to the rainfall amount was confirmed through the 2 week satellite beacon signal C/N measurement. The predicted critical C/N was decreased to 12 dB at $A_{0.3}$. During the experiment, it was confirmed that it decreased up to 8 dB according to the concentrated rainfall.

  • The optimum conditons were experimentally established for the powder synthesis and sintering of the feed-rods for $LiNbO_3$ crystal growth by a floating zone method. At the lower synthesis temperatures(700, $ 800^{\circ}C$) the minor amounts of $Li_2CO_3$ and $Nb_2O_5$ were present in the synthesized $LiNbO_3$ powder and at the higher temperature the particle size increased which is not favorable for the sintering process for the feed-rods. $LiNbO_3$ powder synthesized at $950^{\circ}C$ for 12 hours was found to be the best because it contains only the$LiNbO_3$ phase with the small particle size and uniform particle size distribution. As the sintering temperature and the soaking time increase, the sintered feed-rods exhibited the higher sintered density and grain growth phenomena. The $LiNbO_3$ feed rods sintering at $1100^{\circ}C$ for 2 hours were found to have the best microstructure for the precursor feed-rods of the floating zone crystal growth because of their higher density, small grain size and uniform particle size distribution. • Objectives : The 7-zone-diagnostic system is a device for predetermining bodily locations by measuring the energy of the living body. The purpose of this study is to examine correlations between gastroscopy results and zone-5 data from the 7-zone-diagnostic system. Methods : This study was carried out with data from gastroscopy procedures. It involved 115 patients who had been diagnosed with gastritis, esophagitis, or gastric ulcers. These patients were divided into three groups according to the different patterns of zone-5 factors AA, FL2 and FL1. Group A was made up of patients for whom the red bar graph of zone-5 was higher than the normal range for factor AA. Group B was made up of patients for whom the red bar graph of zone-5 was within the normal range for factor AA. Group C was made up of patients for whom the red bar graph of zone-5 was lower than the normal range for factor AA. Group D E and F were made up of same way as group A B and C for factor FL2. Group G H and I were made up of same way as group A B and C for factor FL1. After the collection of gastroscopy results and data on zone-5 from the 7-zone-diagnostic system, the data was analyzed statistically. Results : 1. Group D had a higher ratio of medication than group E, and this result was statistically significant. 2. Group D G had a higher ratio of medication than group E G and group E H, and this result was statistically significant. 3. Group G had a higher ratio of esophagitis than group H, and this result was statistically significant. 4. A Group B H had a higher ratio of esophagitis than group B G, group C G, and group C H, and this result was statistically significant. 5. The medication group had a high score on the function index than the non-medication group, and this result was statistically significant. Conclusions : This study suggests that there is a slight correlation between gastroscopy results and zone-5 data from the 7-zone-diagnostic system. The research resulted in significant data that are helpful for diagnosing digestive system problems through the use of the 7-zone-diagnostic system.

  • The pyrolytlc behavior of cocoa powder, a flavorant of tobacco smoking products, was examined by determining its pyrolyzate constituents. Cocoa powder was pyrolyzed of two cigarette smoking conditions'distillation-pyrolysis zone(35$0^{\circ}C$, 55$0^{\circ}C$) and high temperature zone($650^{\circ}C$, 85$0^{\circ}C$). Pyrolyzate was flushed from the tube by NB gas into CS2 trap in dry ice-acetone cooled bath and charcoal tube and its constituents were analyzed by GC/MS. As results, the major components of pyrolyzates were identified as hydrocarbon and phenolic compounds. In addition to these, aldehyde, ketone, pyrazin in very small amount. Component changes were observed with temperature increase; decane, styrene, tridecane, m-cresol,4-ethylphenol were increased while hexadecane, tetradecane were decreased. o-cresol and 2-ethylphenol were constant in amounts despite temperature change.

  • Among the index properties of granite and andesite, the relation between porosity and water content is highly correlated, but specific gravity, porosity and water content have loW relation with P wave velocity and their relationship showed dispersed zone type. With raising the temperature, Brazilian tensile strength was not changed remarkably, but decreased near $100^{\circ}C$. After the strength increased at $150^{\circ}C$, it decreased near $200^{\circ}C$ in granite. In andesite, however, the strength was increased up to $200^{\circ}C$, and then decreased. The variations of P wave velocity at each temperature zone are similar to those of tensile strength.

  • A three-dimensional finite element analysis was conducted to analyze the predictable distances of a fault zone by using longitudinal displacement on tunnel face, trend line, L/C ratio, and C/C0 ratio at tunnel crown. The analysis used 28 numerical models with various fault attitudes. As a result, those faults that have drives with dip could be predicted earliest in L/C and C/C0 ratio analysis. And those faults that have drives against dip could be predicted earliest in L/C ratio and longitudinal displacement analysis. In addition, the fault zone ahead of tunnel was predicted in most models by using longitudinal displacement, trend line, L/C ratio, and C/C0 ratio. However, the longitudinal displacement among these methods may be most usefully predict a fault zone since it is displacements can be measured immediately after tunnel excavation.

  • TiC-$TiB_2$-SiC system was a ternary eutectic, whose eutectic composition was 34TiC-$22TiB_2$-44SiC (mol%). TiC-$TiB_2$-SiC ternary eutectic composite were synthesized by a floating zone method using TiC, $TiB_2$ and SiC powders as starting materials. The TiC-$TiB_2$-SiC eutectic composite showed a lamellar texture. TiC(022), $TiB_2(010)$ and SiC(111) of the eutectic composite were perpendicular to the growth direction. TiC-$TiB_2$-SiC ternary eutectic composite had specific relationship among the crystal planes: TiC[011]//$TiB_2[010]$//SiC[112], TiC(200)//$TiB_2$(001)//SiC(402) and $TiC(1\bar{1}1)$//$TiB_2(101)$//SiC(220).
