  • In this paper, we propose the efficient Doppler removal method using map-based partial-time common intermediate frequency removal technique. In the proposed algorithm, the 2-stage carrier removal process was used. First, the component of common intermediate frequency is removed. Next the component of Doppler was removed with averaging and approximation. For the evaluation of the proposed algorithm, The real-time software GPS L1 C/A-code receiver was implemented. When the proposed algorithms are used, 12 tracking channels with 3 track arm(early, prompt, late) is operated real-time on PC using a Intel Pentium-III 1.0GHz CPU. Also, the requirement of memory was less than 2Mbytes. The real-time software GNSS receiver using the proposed algorithms provides the navigation solution with below 10 meter rms error. Especially, in spited of using the various approximations for implementing the algorithms, the high sensitivity capability (able to track the weak signal with -159dBm) was achieved.

  • Excavation is an important work in mining, earth removal and general earthworks. Nowadays, automation in excavator has been studied by several researchers. In the excavator research methods, simulation is one of the low cost methods for applied to test safely. In this paper, designed a virtual hydraulic excavator that with the control and the dynamic. At first, the simulation of hydraulic system for excavator's attachment such as boom, arm and bucket using Matlab/Simhydraulic is presented. Second, the dynamic model of excavator is distributed to combine with the hydraulic system. For controlling this system, electric joysticks are used to operate the orifice open areas in Main Control Valve. The simulation result is described to analysis the performance of this virtual excavator.

  • Purpose : This study is to investigate the modulatory effects to the ultraviolet induced erythema of pain processing system. Methods : Thirty six healthy volunteers were divided into none treatment group (n=6), indomethacine group (n=6), subsensory level electrical stimulation group (n=6), sensory level electrical stimulation group (n=6), motor level electrical stimulation group (n=6), noxious level electrical stimulation group (n=6). Subjects were induced erythema for three times minimal erythema dose (MED) at upper arm of dermatome C6 level. Each experimental group had mechanical pain threshold (MPT), electrical pain threshold (EPT), thermal pain threshold (TPT). Results : This study revealed that we observed that pain thresholds were significantly correlated with each other in pain processing system. The effect of electrical stimulation levels evaluates were shown to be significant differences pain control effect in electrical stimulation group (sensory, motor level electrical stimulation groups) more than indomethacine group, subsensory level and control group. Conclusion : In this study, it was found that the effect of ultraviolet induced erythema of pain control by modulatory electrical stimulation.

  • Foreign body (FB) impaction in the maxillofacial area could be caused by knives, glass fragments, and vegetative materials. We present the rare case of a 62-year-old man with a large glass FB in the left cheek retained for over 40 years. He had traffic accident over 40 years ago and glass fragments impacted on his left cheek. Glass fragments were retained around the zygomatic arch with dimpled scar and unclear serous discharge, but other facial motor or sensory dysfunction was not observed. We confirmed three glass fragments with radiologic examination including plain radiograph and computed tomographic image. Under general anesthesia, impacted glass fragments were removed through the direct incision on the dimpled scar and the additional incision on the left lateral canthal area. Remnant FBs were not seen on an intraoperative C-arm radiograph. After 2 days of irrigation for inflammation control, the dimpled wound was sutured. The wound was healed without major complication and the original dimpled scar was much improved.

  • Aerosol indirect radiative forcing of climate change is considered the most uncertain forcing of climate change over the industrial period, despite numerous studies demonstrating such modification of cloud properties and several studies quantifying resulting changes in shortwave radiative fluxes. Detection of this effect is made difficult by the large inherent variability in cloud liquid water path (LWP): the dominant controlling influence of LWP on optical depth and albedo masks any aerosol influences. Here we have used ground-based remote sensing of cloud optical depth (${\tau}_c$) by narrowband radiometry and LWP by microwave radiometry to determine the dependence of optical depth on LWP, thereby permitting examination of aerosol influence. The method is limited to complete overcast conditions with liquid-phase single layer clouds, as determined mainly by millimeter wave cloud radar. The results demonstrate substantial (factor of 2) day-to-day variation in cloud drop effective radius at the ARM Southern Great Plains site that is weakly associated with variation in aerosol loading as characterized by light-scattering coefficient at the surface. The substantial scatter suggests the importance of meteorological influences on cloud drop size as well, which should be analyzed in the further intensive studies. Meanwhile, it is notable that the decrease in cloud drop effective radius results in marked increase in cloud albedo.

  • Tyrosine phenol-lyase (TPL) is a useful enzyme for the synthesis of pharmaceutical aromatic amino acids. In the current study, sequential DNA shuffling and screening were used to enhance the stability of TPL. Twenty-thousand mutants were screened, and several improved variants were isolated. One variant named A13V, in which the $13^{th}$ amino acid alanine was substituted by valine, exhibited a higher temperature and denaturant stability than the wild-type TPL. The purified mutant TPL, A13V, retained about 60% of its activity at $76^\circ{C}$, whereas the activity of the wild-type TPL decreased to less than 20% at the same temperature. Plus, A13V exhibited about 50% activity with 3 M urea, while the wild-type TPL lost almost all its catalytic activity, indicating an increased denaturant tolerance in the mutant A13V. It is speculated that the substitution of Val for the Ala in the $\beta$-strand of the N-terminal arm was responsible for the heightened stabilization, and that the current results will contribute to further research on the structural stability of TPL.

  • A patient table considering x-ray transparency, mechanical safety and compact multi-axis moving mechanism has been developed. The goal of medical imaging technology is to keep radiation exposure of patients during x-raying to a minimum. In order to obtain clear pictures at low dose, however, the x-ray table which supports the patient must be sufficiently permeable to radiation to allow good image resolution. The table top is made of low density foam for x-ray transparent effective area and structural aluminum plate to connect moving mechanism under the table, covered with thin carbon fiber. This sandwich construction is very rigid and lightweight, so the table top can handle relatively heavy load comparing to its cantilevered structure which is unavoidable as long as cooperate with C-arm radiography. To verify the design results finite element static analysis and experimental tests have been done. According to the verification the results well satisfy certification guide lines as a medical device.

  • To fabricate low field magnetic sensors using magnetoresistance(MR) effects, we deposited thin layers of $600{\AA}$ in thickness of Ni-Co(0.7Ni-0.3Co) alloy on slide glasses. In the layers we ordered 4 arms of the fullbridge sensors in the shape of grid structure to be inclined at an angle of $45^{\circ}$ to main axis and made the areal rate increase to 67%. While the response characteristics of the fabricated sensors had good linearity in the magnetic field of ${\pm}0.5mT$ ranges, the white noise was 0.2 nV and the voltage sensitivity was 7.6 $nV/{\mu}T$.
