  • Through the developing measuring system of gas diffusivity, the experiments on carbon dioxide diffusivity in concrete carry out. From this, some important results was achieved. First, the times of reaching the steady state condition don't depend on the water/cement ratio with linearity. But, for the 0.42 w/c ratio the duration of the non-steady state condition is long. Second, in constant relative humidity, the diffusion coefficient shows linearity for the w/c ratio. Third, for the same w/c ratio, the influence of relative humidity on the diffusivity is very large. This shows the importance of the environmental condition for the carbonation. This study on $CO_2$ diffusivity in concrete is the first attempt within a country and will be important data.

  • Indium tin oxide (ITO) thin films have been deposited onto bare glass substrates by sol-gel process. The solution was prepared by mixing indium precursor and tin precursor dissolved in 2-methoxyethanol at $75^{\circ}C$ for 12 hours. Indium tin oxide films were prepared by slowly heat up to $200^{\circ}C$ for 10 minutes and annealed at $350^{\circ}C$ for 1 hour. In this paper, we researched simple and inexpensive sol-gel process. To find the optimal ratio of In/Sn to reduce electric resistance in ITO made by sol-gel process, we assessed electric properties varying the ratio of In and Sn precursor.

  • The aim of our study is to determine maximum surgical blood order schedule (MSBOS) in each surgical operation through analyzing usage of blood products at Bundang Jesaeng General Hospital. We investigated the amount of transfused red cells for each operation and calculated crossmatching-to-transfusion ratio (C/T ratio) and MSBOS. This was accomplished by referring to the Laboratory Information System program during 1 year from January through December 2003. Coronary artery bypass surgery and decompressive craniectomy showed the highest MSBOS in our hospital. The average C/T ratio was 3.2 and excessive reservations for blood products have been made for many operations. From this study, guidelines for the optimal blood ordering for each surgery were suggested.

  • This study was investigated the effect of subzero treatment in austempered ductile cast iron. Retained austenite transformed to martensite by subzero treatment and strain. With decreasing subzero treatment temperature and increasing strain, retained austenite transformed more to martensite and transformed 30% above by subzero treatment at $-196^{\circ}C$. With decreasing subzero treatment temperature, the value of strength and ratio of increasing of strength, hardness and ratio of increasing of hardness increased but the value of elongation and ratio of decreasing of elongation decreased. With decreasing subzero treatment temperature, impact value and ratio of decreasing of impact value decreased. In case of subzero treatment at $-196^{\circ}C$, hardness value increased about 18% and impact value decreased above 20%. We could find that in subzero treated specimens had a little of effect on the tensile properties but had very much effect on the hardness and value of the impact.

  • This paper proposes a new access method which is to considered the high variability in World Wide Web and manage the web cache space. Instead of using a single cache, we divide a cache and store all documents according to their file types. Proposed method was compares with current cache management policies using LFU, LRU and SIZE base algorithm. Using two different workload, we show the improvement hitting ratio and byte hitting ratio through simulating on the file type caching.

  • In this paper, natural frequency curves are presented for three specific end supports considering distinct values of nonlocal parameter. The vibrational behavior of zigzag double walled carbon nanotubes is investigated using wave propagation with nonlocal effect. Frequency spectra of zigzag (12, 0) double walled carbon nanotubes have been analyzed with proposed model. Effects of nonlocal parameters have been fully investigated on the natural frequency against against variation of Poisson's ratio. A slow increase in frequencies against variation of Poisson's ratio also indicates insensitivity of it for suggested nonlocal model. Moreover, decrease in frequencies with increase in nonlocal parameter authenticates the applicability of nonlocal Love shell model. Also the frequency curves for C-F are lower throughout the computation than that of C-C curves.

  • The large scaled field test by prefabricated vertical drains was performed to evaluate the superiority of vertical discharge capacity for drain materials through compare and analyze the time-settlement behavior with drain spacing and the compression index and consolidation coefficient obtained by laboratory experiments and field monitoring system 1. The relation of measurement settlement( $S_{m}$) versus design settlement( $S_{t}$) and measurement consolidation ratio( $U_{m}$) versus design consolidation ratio( $U_{t}$) were shown $S_{m}$=(1.0~l.1) $S_{t}$, $U_{m}$=(1.13~l.17) $U_{t}$, at 1.0m drain spacing and $S_{m}$=(0.7~0.8) $S_{t}$, $U_{m}$=(0.92~0.99) $U_{t}$ at 1.5m drain spacing, respectively. 2. The relation of field compression index( $C_{cfield}$) and virgin compression index( $V_{cclab}$) was shown $C_{cfield}$=(1.0~1.2) $V_{cclab}$, But it was nearly same value when considered the error with determination method of virgin compression index and prediction method of total settlement. 3. field consolidation coefficient was larger than laboratory consolidation coefficient, and the consolidation coefficient ratio( $C_{h}$/ $C_{v}$) were $C_{h}$=(2.4 ~ 3.0) $C_{v}$. $C_{h}$=(3.5 ~ 4.3) $C_{v}$ at 1.0m and 1.5m drain spacing and increased with increasing of drain spacingngasing of drain spacingng spacingng

  • Porous self-bonded silicon carbide (SBSC) ceramics were fabricated at temperatures ranging from 1700 to $1850^{\circ}C$ using SiC, silicon (Si), and three different carbon (C) sources, including carbon black, phenol resin, and xylene. The effects of the Si:C ratio and carbon source on porosity and strength were investigated as a function of sintering temperature. Porous SBSC ceramics fabricated from phenol resin showed higher porosity than the others. In contrast, porous SBSC ceramics fabricated from carbon black showed better strength than the others. Regardless of the carbon source, the porosity increased with decreasing the Si:C ratio whereas the strength increased with increasing the Si:C ratio.

  • Porous self-bonded silicon carbide (SBSC) ceramics were fabricated at temperatures ranging from 1750 to $1850^{\circ}C$ using SiC, Si, C as starting materials and Al as an optional sintering additive. The effect of Al addition on the porosity and strength of the porous SBSC ceramics were investigated as functions of sintering temperature and Si:C ratio. The porosity increased with decreasing the Si:C ratio and increasing the sintering temperature. It was possible to fabricate SBSC ceramics with porosities ranging from 37% to 44% by adjusting the Si:C ratio and the sintering temperature. Addition of Al additive promoted densification and necking between SiC grains, resulting in improved strength. Typical flexural strengths of SBSC ceramics with and without Al addition were 44 MPa and 34MPa, respectively.
