The hygrothermal effect on three different types of Glass/Polypropylene was investigated under the environment of 4$0^{\circ}C$ distilled water. The residual strength of Glass/Polypropylene with randomly oriented and fiber content of 4-wt%(R40) was found stable under the moisture content of 0.2%. In this case, the maximum moisture content was 0.53%. On the other hand, Glass/Polypropylene with unidirection and 42wt%(U42) and 50st%(U50) fiber content, respectively, showed the residual strength less stable than R40. However, the maximam moisture contents were 0.52% and 0.45% respectively.

In the use of glass fiber reinforced plastics it is often necessary to cutting the components, but the cutting GFRP is often made difficult by the delamination of composites and the short tool life. In this paper, the machinability of GFRP by mean of tool materials and type was experimentally investigated. By proper selection of cutting tool material and type excellent machining of this workpiece is achieved. The surface quality relate closely with the feed rate and cutting tools.
Sandwich composites made of glass fabric epoxy facesheets with aluminum honeycomb core or balsa core is considered for the structural design of bodyshell of a Korean Low Floor Bus. Initially, in order to select the optimal facesheet and core materials in design stage, the flexural response of a sandwich composite is a critical importance. In this study, theoretical formula which could easily and quickly evaluate and obtain the flexural responses such as deflection and flexural stiffness of a sandwich composite subjected to external load was established. This theory could calculate the flexural responses of sandwich composites with narrow as well as wide width and with facesheets of unequal thickness, and also distinguish between the bending and shear effects of deflection. Finite element analysis using ANSYS V10.0 was used to offer the best elements for real sandwich composites, and flexural test according to ASTM C393 was conducted to compare with the results of theoretical formula and finite element analysis. The results show that the flexural responses of sandwich composites using proposed theoretical formula is in good agreement with those of experiment and finite element method.

The ITO/Cabon Nano Tube (CNT) nano composites were deposited by nano cluster deposition (ITO) and arc discharge deposition (CNT) on glass substrates. The structural, optical and photovoltaic performance of ITO/CNT nano composites as a counter electrode of dye-sensitized solar-cells (DSSCs) such films were investigated. At low temperature below $250^{\circ}C$, the ITO films deposited on CNT. The ITO/CNT nano composit showed a good optical and electrical property for the counter electrode of DSSCs. When the as-prepared ITO/CNT nano composites are used for the counter electrodes, the photovoltaic parameters are $V_{OC}$ = 0.69 V, $J_{SC}$ = 5.69 mA/$cm^2$, FF = 0.32, and $\eta$ = 0.53 %. The ITO/CNT nano composites showed the possibility for the counter electrode applications of DSSCs.

Polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) was filled with glass fiber (GF), aramid fiber (AF), and solid lubricants to improve the mechanical properties and wear resistance. The addition of GF effectively enhanced the tensile strength, flexural modulus, and impact strength of PPS, while solid lubricants such as polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), molybdenum disulfide ($MoS_2$), and tungsten disulfide ($WS_2$) lowered the friction coefficients of the composites to below 0.3. The ball nut and motor pulley of the electric power steering (EPS) were manufactured using the PPS composites, and feasibility was ascertained thereafter by conducting the durability test. The composites filled with GF and AF showed high mechanical strength, but slip occurred at the interface between the pulley and belt while testing above $50^{\circ}C$. When small amounts of lubricants were added, the slip was no longer detected because of the suppression of friction heat. It is realized that the low friction as well as high mechanical properties is important to ensure the reliability of plastic pulleys.

In this paper, tensile and bending tests of glass/polypropylene composite (Twintex) specimens fabricated by various forming conditions were carried out and the results were compared according to the forming conditions to find the appropriate condition for the forming composite bone plates. From the tests it was found that the most appropriate forming conditions were $230^{\circ}C$, 3MPa. Composite bone plates were formed using this condition by two different fabricating methods for screw holes: one was a net shape molding and the other was drilling. The forming and bending tests revealed that the drilling process provided much better bending stiffness of bone plates. This paper provided the most appropriate condition for forming composite bone plates and this result was also expected to offer informative data on forming of other Twintex structures.

The thermal impact of mica/epoxy paper(130${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$) is investigated using XRD, DSC and TGL X-ray diffraction(XRD) analysis was performed to know the position and structure of mica crystal in insulation materials. A differential scanning calorimeter(DSC) was used to measure glass transition temperature and excess enthalphy of the composite materials that had been subjected to thermal aging. The glass transition temperature(T$_{g}$) measured by DSC is observed at 95.43$^{\circ}C$ and 113.43$^{\circ}C$, respectively. The T$_{g}$ also increases with increased aging time. Measurements performed by TGA(thermogravimetric analysis) have showed that weight loss profile of sound specimens are lower than those aged.ged.
Fiber-reinforced composites are extensively used in electronic, ship and aerospace applications due to their high strength and high toughess. In these applications, they are often subjected to localized heat damage due to various sources. In order to ensure their reliability, it is important to predict their residual properties using nondestructive evaluation thchniques. Fabric fiber composite specimens were manufactured with six layers of the glass-fiber prepreg and the carbon-fiber prepreg, respectively. The specimens were subjected to a localized heat damage using a heated copper tip with a diameter of 10mm at 35$0^{\circ}C$(CFRP) and 30$0^{\circ}C$(GFRP), respectively. The specimens were then subjected to tension tests while acoustic emission (AE) activities of specimens were collected. The AE activity of all specimens showed three types of distinct frequency regions. Those are matrix cracking, failure of the fiber/matrix interface and fiber breakage.
ABS/silicate composites with different clay types and compositions were prepared by in situ emulsion polymerization. The chemical structure of ABS was confirmed by the change of C-H stretching peak(near 3000 $cm^{-1}$) in fourier transform-infrared(FT-IR) spectrum. The thermal properties of the ABS/silicate composites were investigated by differential scanning calorimetry(DSC) and thermogravimetric analyzer(TGA). There was no distinct change in glass transition temperature of the ABS/silicate composites with different clay types. TGA curve indicates a dramatic increase in degradation temperature in case of ABS/20A composite with 3 wt% 20A. The silicate dispersion in the composites was measured by X-ray diffraction(XRD). The silicate dispersion in ABS/20A composites depended on the 20A composition. XRD results showed that the diffraction peak of the ABS/20A composite appeared when the content of 20A was higher than 5 wt%.
The LTCCs (Low-Temperature Co-fired Ceramics) are very important for electronic industry to build smaller RF modules and to fulfill the necessity for miniaturization of devices in wireless communication industry. The dielectric materials with sintering temperature $T_{sint}$<90$0^{\circ}C$ are required. In this study, BaO-N $d_2$$O_3$-Ti $O_2$ (BNT : 20∼40 wt%) for ceramic materials and L $a_2$$O_3$- $B_2$$O_3$-Ti $O_2$ (LBT : 80∼60 wt%) for crystallizable glasses were used. The glass/ceramic composites were investigated for sintering behavior, phase evaluation, densities, interface reaction and microwave dielectric properties. It was found that the addition LBT glass frist significantly lowered the sintering temperature to below 90$0^{\circ}C$ and the densification with increasing addition LBT glass frist developed rapidly which was meant to be namely 90% of relative density. The sintered bodies ekhibited applicable dielectric properties, namely 15 for $\varepsilon$$_{r}$,, 10000 GHz for Q* $f_{0}$. The results suggest that the composites have good potential as a new candidate for LTCC materials.
