The objective of this case study is to analyze how effectively KIA K5, which is a leading mid-size car brand, has positioned itself into the mid-size car market. Before KIA launched the K5, Sonata and SM5 were the leading brands in the mid-size car market. They had loyal customers who like their similar images. As many competitors keep launching new brands or new designs into the car industry, Sonata and SM5 were pressured to introduce new versions. But, the YF Sonata and the New SM5 failed to catch up with the new trends in the market. Whilst YF Sonata was perceived as too innovative, the New SM5 was treated as an old car by the target customers of the mid-size car. While the two leading brands struggled to attract customers, KIA K5 found a new market space by identifying and focusing on the lucrative replace and up-grade demand segment and filling the gap between the current product category values and the emerging mid-size car category values. The K5 found the right values that customers need and successfully articulated the values to the customers. This case study illustrates that a successful positioning strategy can be effectively employed to attract customers in the saturated car manufacturing industry. This case can be summarized as the successful positioning strategy of KIA K5 is comprised of four primary pillars: design innovation, market analysis, STP (segmentation, targeting, and positioning), and launch strategy. The KIA K5 case study provides valuable insights and implications for many other companies that are planning to find a proper positioning strategy for their own business.

In this study, students' thoughts were searched according to the types of experiments related to the "law of definite proportions" in 9th grade science textbooks. The most common four types of experiments in textbooks were selected and analyzed for this study. It was found that the experiments needed various preconceptions and complex inferring process by students. But most of the students could not catch the concept understanding desired from the experiments. They just perceived simple observation from their senses. These phenomena were common regardless of types of experiments. These means that the level of preconceptions and inferring process for the interpretation of the experimental data did not match with students' level of thoughts. The goals of the experiments in science textbooks are to increase students' inquiry ability, and to acquire science concepts by themselves from the experiment results. But if the contents of experiments are not suitable to students' understanding level, the educational effects of the performance of these experiments were not positive. Therefore, these experiments need contents revisions for students to acquire the concept related to the "law of definite proportions" by themselves.

Test fishing was carried out to examine the selectivity of the mesh size in trammel net for tonguefish (Cynoglossidae spp.) from May to August, 1999 and a total of 30 times of test fishing have been done in the coastal waters around Dolsando, Yosu, South Chunra province, Korea. A gill net and a trammel net which were composed of three different mesh sizes (70.5mm, 86.6mm and 101mm) were used for the experiment. The selectivity curve of mesh size was estimated by Kitahara's method for Robust tonguefish (Cynoglossus robustus). The results obtained are summarized as follows ; 1. Catching efficiency of the trammel net (70.5mm-sized-lint main net) was 39.0% and it was 2.5 times higher than 15.8% for the gill net. 2. The optimum l/m value of the trammel net was 3.51 and it was 0.13 higher than 3.38 for the gill net. 3. The selectivity of trammel net was similar to that of the gill net for low length-class. However, the selectivity of trammel net was not good compared with that of the gill net for high length-class. The 50% selectivity was 1.33 for the trammel net and 0.83 for the gill net. According to the experimental results, fishing efficiency of the trammel net was better than that of the gill net for tonguefish (Cynoglossidae spp.) and it was known that catch length for targeted species could be selected by controlling the mesh size.

This study analyzed the key words in Korea's leading apartment brands and newspaper advertisements to examine especially their view-oriented advertising characteristics and green marketing properties. Four study topics were established and examined for this purpose. The following are the results; 1. The key words on apartment brands and catch phrases are $\ulcorner$emotion-oriented$\lrcorner$ words, such as taste, pride, and happiness, and $\ulcorner$environment-oriented$\lrcorner$ to appeal to customers with beautiful views of the nature. Also key words on newspaper advertisement headlines stress views for $\ulcorner$environment-oriented$\lrcorner$ characteristics as well as $\ulcorner$emotion-oriented$\lrcorner$ characteristics for elegance and luxury, and $\ulcorner$function-oriented$\lrcorner$ characteristics for the future. Views, nature and park are key words and everything about illustration that are especially emphasized even on the headlines of newspaper advertisements. 2. Unlike brands or headlines, sub-headlines and body copies stress $\ulcorner$modern-oriented$\lrcorner$ characteristics for life, culture, and accessibility, followed by $\ulcorner$emotion-oriented$\lrcorner$ characteristics. Key words on caption were also highly $\ulcorner$modern-oriented$\lrcorner$, followed by $\ulcorner$environment-oriented$\lrcorner$ and $\ulcorner$function-oriented$\lrcorner$ characteristics for practical aspects. 3. In result of $X^2-test$, $\ulcorner$environment-oriented$\lrcorner$ key words that convey good views, naturalism, parks, and nature are the major representation of green marketing strategies of apartment brands and newspaper advertisements. However, brands were strongly $\ulcorner$emotion-oriented$\lrcorner$, whereas captions were $\ulcorner$modern-oriented$\lrcorner$ and body copies were $\ulcorner$investment-oriented$\lrcorner$. Both apartment brands and advertisements were consistently $\ulcorner$environment-oriented$\lrcorner$, but were not consistent in other factors. 4. Different parts of newspaper advertisements are focusing on green marketing strategies in terms of environmental protection, but are actually leaning toward modern-oriented lifestyles and accessibility. Thus, it is more well-being marketing rather than green marketing. To pursue true green marketing despite the limits of newspaper advertisements, it is necessary to present products and pricing strategies that represent sustainable.
In the mobile-first era, plenty of mobile apps have been created so that the number of apps owned in a smartphone have been increasing as well. However, users spend most of time with only a few apps and the rest of apps are just kept in their smartphones for future usage. Thus, in order to help users find the apps quickly it is important to study how users arrange apps in a mobile phone screen and find an app. In the literature, we extracted 5 user types to organize mobile apps. We further conducted user survey with 30 subjects and finalized major 3 user types categorized by relatedness(A), aesthetic(B), and external concepts(C). We found that most of subjects took less than 2 minutes when finding frequently-used-apps. However we identified difference in times taken to find a barely-used-apps across three user types; while A type users turns out to be the most effective in finding barely-used-apps, the B type uses tend to be the least effective among three types. For the A type users, an app's name is more important than an icon image because they tend to guess the functionality from the name of the app. The B type users use the color of app icon to find the app in the smartphone. For the C type users who tend to remain the original position of an app when first downloading it in the smartphone, the visibility of an app icon is important to catch users' eyes while they scan a page. The results of this study is expected to be useful for UX designers who improve the usability of app icon usage considering the user types.

In order to measure runoff and soil losses produced in a small test plot during rainfall, it is usually insufficient to use a tank only, necessitating the combined use of a main tank and a subsidiary tank. Accordingly. exact measurement largely depends on how to connect those two measuring tanks. The main purpose of this thesis is to improve the connecting parts of two measuring tanks so as to assure exact measurement of runoff and soil losses. In this experiment, two types of main tank, i. e. A-type and B-type, were used. A-type is a square tank having a flume at its end. At the flume, ten apertures are provided by using metal columns so as to be able to catch one tenth of total muddy flow discharging at the end of the flume, One tenth of total flow is led to the subsidiary tank through a slot sampler fixed to an aperture. B-type differes in that its flume does not have apertures and slot sampler is fixed directly to the end of the flume, other features being the same as those of A-type. Discharge volumes were measured by using weighing tanks and compared. The effect of baffle screen provided in the flume was also observed in connection with exact measurements. In order to keep main tank and its flume in a horizontal position, bolts and nuts mechanism was used. Vertical and horizontal screens were provided in the main to prevent coarse sands coming into the flume. The conclusion derived through this experiment is as follows: (1) The discharge through slot sampler at each aperture is almost the same for A-type. However, it is slightly more than one tenth of total discharge volume. (2) In case that baffle screen is provided in the flume of A-type tank, the discharge volume of slot sampler is less than that of the same type without screen. (3) For B-type tank, slot sampler discharge increases as slot sampler nears toward the center of flume. (4) When baffle screen is provided in the flume of B-type, slot sampler discharge is less than that of the same type without screen, and this phenomenon is more apparent as compared with A-type. (5) In case that the slot width of slot sampler for B-type is one inch, slot sampler discharge exceeds one tenth of total discharge volume. (6) When the slot width for B-type is 15/16 inch and slot sampler is fixed 3/8 inch apart from either flume wall, slot sampler discharge is approximately equal to one tenth of total discharge volume.
Since the introduction of AEO certification in South Korea in 2008, 516 areas have been AEO certified based on a report dated December 31st, 2013. The number is expected to increase drastically as more and more companies strive to obtain the AEO certification. In this regards, this study is designed to contribute to the further invigoration of the AEO certification system as well as to propose directions to improve companies' performance in a practical point of view. To do so, the writer reviewed the past studies done in the relevant subjects in order to 1) grasp the principal subject, 2) catch the areas with insufficient information/lacking points, and to 3) get a focus on future directions on how additional research should be conducted. An analysis of the past studies proved that prior to the introduction of the AEO certification, the focus of the studies were to present the reasons as to why AEO should be introduced, the benefits of AEO, and a comparative analysis of countries already in wide usage of the AEO system. Studies done after the introduction of AEO (that is, after 2008) focused mainly on invigorating the system into the market. Compared to the previous studies, this study will present a distinct conclusion by breaking down the major points of each study on a year-by-year basis and studying them in total in order to provide an even more practical direction in the future of AEO in South Korea.
In this study, non-point source(NPS) contribution was investigated based on flow rates and water qualities of streams into the lake during rainfall events. Event mean concentration(EMC) and the pollution loads were calculated to establish a database for NPS control measurement in the survey area, and so on. The runoff characteristics of NPS were investigated and estimated on the basis of the ratio of an agricultural to forest area in the stream of sub-catch basin during rainfall events. Non-point source pollution loads were also calculated to establish a database for NPS control measure in the upstream lake Chinyang. At a rainfall event, BOD concentrations rise sharply at the early peak time of runoff, however, peaks of TSS concentration were observed at the similar time of peak flow. This was a phenomenon shown at the watersheds caused by forest and geological types. The discharged EMC range was 2.9-4.8 mg/L in terms of BOD. The discharged EMC range was 6.2-8.2 mg/L in terms of SS. The discharged EMCs of T-N and T-P were 1.4-2.5 mg/L and 0.059-0.233 mg/L, respectively. Total BOD loading rate through the 3 tributaries to the lake Chinyang was 1,136 kg/d during dry weather. The upper watershed area of the Nam-river dam in this study was divided into 14 catchment basins based on the Korean guideline for total maximum daily load(TMDL) of water quality pollutants. The higher the agricultural land-use ratio, the more NPS loading rate discharged, but the more occupied a forest area, the lower more NPS loading rate discharged. In an agricultural land-use area more than 20%, the increase of NPS loadings might be dramatically diffused by increasing the integrated complex-use like vinyl-house facilities and fertilizer use etc. according to the effective land-use utilization. The NPS loading rates were BOD 0.3 $kg/ha{\cdot}day$, SS 0.21 $kg/ha{\cdot}day$, TN 0.02 $kg/ha{\cdot}day$, TP 0.005 $kg/ha{\cdot}day$ under less than 10% agricultural land-use. In agricultural land-use of 20%-50%, these values were investigated in the range of 0.32 $kg/ha{\cdot}day$-0.73 $kg/ha{\cdot}day$ for BOD, 0.92 $kg/ha{\cdot}day$-3.32 $kg/ha{\cdot}day$ for SS, 0.70 $kg/ha{\cdot}day$-0.90 $kg/ha{\cdot}day$ TN, 0.03 $kg/ha{\cdot}day$-0.044 $kg/ha{\cdot}day$ for TP.
Slime flounder, Microstomus achne is distributed in the coastal waters of Korea, west sea of Japan, BoHai, Yellow sea and East china sea. They are mainly caught by bottom trawl net during winter, from December to March. Sexual maturation of slime flounder were investigated using samples collected from commercial catch in the southern coast of Korea from November, 2006 to March, 2007. The ovary of the slime flounder is a conical bag in shape and is bilateral structure develops lengthily from the posterior of the abdomen to the end of the anal fin. The testis also is bilateral in structure, usually located in small size in the abdomen. In females, the gonadosomatic index (GSI) were peaked in January (12.46), then decreased rapidly thereafter. Female GSI values plummeted to 2.72 in March just after spawning. Male GSI values were peaked in December (2.46) before in the spawning season, then decreased slowly thereafter. The reproductive cycle would be classified into three successive developmental stages : maturation stage (November to January), ripe and spawning stage (December to February), degenerative and resting stage (February to March). Relationships between the fish sizes in total length (TL) and the number of ovarian eggs (F), the body weights (BW) and the number of ovarian eggs were indicated by the exponential equation respectively: F=29.027TL-767.8 (r$^2$=0.7686), F=0.3998BW+24.288 (r$^2$=0.8919).
This study investigated the efficiency of mating disrupters for the control of Grapholita molesta(Busck) and Adoxophyes orana in pear orchards. G. molesta was shown 4 peak occurrence, which were different according to treatments. In conventional control, many moths were captured in mid and late April and peaks occurred in mid June, August, and early-mid September. In the non-control treatment, there were low populations in April. A. orana also appeared to 4 peak in 2007. Moths were rarely captured in mating disrupter treatment but many were captured in both the non-control and in conventional treatment. A. orana damage differed significantly between mating disrupter use and conventional control in 2006. Especially, the difference was significant between conventional control and mating disrupter to leaf damage in August, and there were similar results in the damage by G. molesta in the shoots and fruits.
