  • This study uses various methods, including media analysis, expert interviews, and large-scale surveys, to derive notable digital business trends in 2023. Most trend studies have yet to deal with digital business trends in Korea. They also often have limitations in the objectivity of the results using unclear methods. On the other hand, this study emphasizes the validity of the results by collecting opinions from Korean digital business experts in various fields. First, Korean IT news articles were collected and analyzed through topic modeling analysis. Then, based on the results, interviews were conducted with 13 academic and industrial experts to derive 16 IT business trend candidates. Then, a survey was conducted on 210 experts to finalize the list of Korean IT business trends. Finally, to compare overseas and domestic views, we conducted an additional survey using the items developed by the Society for Information Management, SIM. This study is meaningful in that it drew prospects for digital business trends in consideration of the domestic business environment by scientifically converging various opinions of Korean digital business leaders. Our study contributes to developing strategies for IT technology and IT service business markets.

  • The establishment of a successful business must be preceded by comprehensive entrepreneurial preparation and research, as well as the development of a truly attractive business idea. Research to-date has tended to be based solely on factors relating to entrepreneurial activity or business performance. Research into the development and evaluation of a business idea has been insufficient. The purpose of this research is to propose a methodology for evaluating the attractiveness of a business idea objectively. This research measures the attractiveness of a business idea by the click through rate (CTR) to a website generated by specific keyword entry into internet search engines. The attractiveness of a business idea can be presented by the formula: number of relevant keyword searches x CTR on search results. As the number of searches for individual keywords is published by the search engines and it is possible to estimate CTRs for specific search results, we can objectively evaluate the attractiveness of a business idea. By analyzing keyword search data and CTRs obtained from search engines over a one month period, 1124 keywords that relate to foreign language education have been identified. A regression formula has also been derived, predicting the click through rate for search results. This research and its findings can be used to raise the success rates of new businesses; proposing objective guidelines for business idea development and evaluation. It is particularly meaningful because it introduces a new methodology to the arena.

  • It is generally accepted that leadership is the foundation for creation of a company's business results. However, empirical evidence is lacking. This paper examines the relationship between leadership and key performance results based on a Return on Leadership Model. The model links Denison's four leadership traits to people results, customer results, and ultimately key performance results. Further specified, the model is a structural equation model with nine latent variables, each measured by a set of indicators, observed by survey questions. To validate the model, an empirical study was conducted, and 379 managers from medium-sized and large companies in Denmark participated. The estimation of the model shows that the model structure explains return on leadership very well, and the findings support the developed model. We are able to quantify the relationships from leadership to people results, customer results and key performance results and, in this way, the data presented here provide evidence that leadership is linked to key performance results. Several results and applications of the model are shown. The findings provide new knowledge about how leadership can be linked to performance, and how excellent leadership creates key performance results.

  • This article attempts to examine the well-known law that the increasing returns to scale(IRS) is effective in the Internet business. The effect of IRS is one of the hottest issues in the Internet business sector. Many cases and survey studies support the fact that the IRS phenomenon exists in the Internet business. Executives in Internet business generally give a deep trust on this theory. As the Internet business grows, however, the boundary of the business becomes widened and complicated. And each category of Internet business is characterized with a different business style and economic behavior. It may, therefore, be dangerous to accept that the phenomenon of IRS is applied to all areas of Internet business. For this reason, the research for the close look into the IRS phenomenon should provide significant implications for the managers in the Internet business industry. This article divides the internet business into four sub-areas, and analyzes the IRS phenomenon using AHP/DEA-based full ordering technique. Interpretations are given, based upon the research results, for each sub-area of Internet business, as a guideline of setting business strategies for practical managers.

This paper looks at the potential of micro business owners for sustainable development: those who have a spirit of entrepreneurship and the potential to be a hidden champion. Our study of micro business values uses structure equation modeling by LISREL. We have done so in order to understand the foundation of management innovation and success model of micro enterprise by increasing the entrepreneurship and management performance relationship analysis. This research is meaningful as it is Korea's first empirical analysis on four business types: wholesale and retail sales, food and lodging business, service business, and manufacturing business. Thus far, research on small business entrepreneurship was carried out using small-scale investigative analysis. However, this research attempted to develop a model that can explain a cause-effect relation of the motivational level when it comes to the difference of entrepreneurship by each business type and small business start-up success factors. Various conceptual and operational definitions could be developed in a diverse and precise manner. Independent variables that are related to the success of small businesses can be developed additionally to examine the success factors related to the systematization in detailed manner. The research showed that the innovation, risk-taking and pro-activeness of the manifested difference in the degree of perception depending on the type of small businesses. Among the four business types, the ones that manifested the highest successful start-up rates were food, service, wholesale and retail sales and manufacturing. Results after conducting the regression analysis are shown on, which proves that the small business entrepreneurship exerts direct effect on the financial management performance of small businesses. In other words, small business entrepreneurship exerts a positive effect on the small business financial success and management performance. The R2 value is 0.61. It is possible to know that the perception of systematization and variables on attitude explains the 61% of the success for small self-employed businesses management performance. • The demographic characteristics of a leader are important for small businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic. Several researchers have proven that demographic characteristics affect business success. Unfortunately, business success has only been analyzed from a financial perspective and has not been compared to the owner's interests perspective. This study examines business success from both perspectives. This study aims to analyze the demographic characteristics of small entrepreneurs and their impact on business success. Demographics consist of age, experience, education, and gender. Meanwhile, business success is seen from two perspectives: financial performance and the owner's interest. The study used an explanatory survey method. The number of samples is 155 entrepreneurs who are also the leaders of their businesses. The research was conducted in Bandung City, Indonesia, in 2021. The data was processed using descriptive statistics and multiple regression. The study results found that age only affects financial performance. Experience is proven to affect financial performance and the interests of the owner. Gender only affects the interests of the owner. This study concludes that in difficult times such as the COVID-19 pandemic, having young leaders who are experienced will make it easier to achieve business success.
