IoT Makes Life Simpler: How to Improve the Chinese Consumer's Intention to Use of LG HomNet Smart Home

  • Purpose - The paper aims to develop the theory of TAM and perceived risk through a more comprehensive and rigorous understanding of the influencing factors of the consumer's adoption of LG HomNet smart home from the perspective of trade-offs. Design/methodology - Based on the TAM and perceived risk theory, combined with the individual characteristics of consumers in the context of information technology as the external factors of the technology acceptance model, this paper constructs a theoretical model of the factors affecting the use intention of the consumer. It was empirically tested by using SEM, and survey data was collected from 458 respondents. Findings - The research results show that 9 hypotheses of the research model are supported and have reliable prediction accuracy. Consumers' perceived interest, perceived connectivity and perceived controllability have a significant positive impact on their intention to use. In addition, this paper also confirmed the mediating effect of perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use. Originality/value - Consumers are very concerned about gains and losses. Low-level performance risks, security risks, and financial risks will drive the consumer to have a stronger intention to use, and financial risks have the strongest impact. This research provides a useful implication and guidance for smart home equipment manufacturers and service providers in product and service innovation and marketing and promotion strategies.

TREE FORM CLASSIFICATION OF OWNER PAYMENT BEHAVIOUR

  • Contracting is said to be a high-risk business, and a common cause of business failure is related to cash management. A contractor's financial viability depends heavily on how actual payments from an owner deviate from those defined in the contract. The paper presents a method for contractors to evaluate the punctuality and fullness of owner payments based on historical behaviour. It does this by classifying owners according to their late and incomplete payment practices. A payment profile of an owner, in the form of aging claims submitted by the contractor, is used as a basis for the method's development. Regression trees are constructed based on three predictor variables, namely, the average time to payment following a claim, the total amount ending up being paid within a certain period and the level of variability in claim response times. The Tree package in the publicly available R program is used for building the trees. The analysis is particularly useful for contractors at the pre-tendering stage, when contractors predict the likely payment scenario in an upcoming project. Based on the method, the contractor can decide whether to tender or not tender, or adjust its financial preparations accordingly. The paper is a contribution in risk management applied to claim and dispute resolution practice. It is argued that by contractors having a better understanding of owner payment behaviour, fewer disputes and contractor business failures will occur.

  • The purpose of the study was to investigate the differences in risk recognition regarding purchase of apparel goods according to internet shoppers' sex, age, and purchasing group and characteristics of apparel goods. For the measurement, a questionaire was developed by the researchers. The questionnaire consisted of questions regarding characteristics of the sample and apparel goods and risk on buying apparel through internet. Data analyses were performed by frequency analysis, factor analysis, t-test, ANOVA, and Tukey's test. The result of the study was that significant differences showed in risk recognition of internet shoppers according to their sex, purchasing group, and fit of apparel goods.

  • As companies become more dependent upon information systems(IS), the potential losses of IS resources become critical. IS management must assume the increasing responsibility for protection of IS resources as the IS and business environments become more vulnerable to various threats. The major issues facing management, when attempting to manage risks, include the assessment of the impact of risks on business objectives and the design of security safeguards to reduce the unacceptable risks to an acceptable level. This paper provides a case study of the risk management for IS. A Korean credit card company which has the high sensitivity for customers security was selected as a case. The risk management procedure using a powerful tool, CRAMM(the Central Computer and Telecommunications Agencys Risk Analysis and Management Method) was applied for this company.

  • An important decision-making element for the success of housing redevelopment projects is a prediction of the profitability of redevelopment. Risk factors influencing profitability were deduced through a review of the literature about profitability and a risk analysis developed by a survey of maintenance projects. In addition, a profitability prediction depending on the analysis of risk factors is necessary to judge the business feasibility of a project in the planning stages. A profitability prediction model of management and disposal method, which is calculated by proportional rate and which helps estimate contributions to profitability, is proposed to prevent difficulties in business development. The proposed model has the potential to prevent interruptions, reduce the length of projects, generate cost savings, and enable rational decision-making during the project period by allowing a judgment of profitability at the planning stage.

중년 직장인의 퇴직 후 창업효능감 및 창업의도에 영향을 미치는 요인 (Study on Factors for Efficacy and Purpose of Starting Business after Middle Aged Workers' Retirement)

  • 본 연구는 중년직장인의 퇴직 후 창업효능감과 창업의도에 영향을 미치는 요인에 관한 연구로서, 이들 종속변수들과 창업자 개인의 혁신성, 성취욕구, 위험감수성향, 통제소재, 그리고 가족지지와의 관계를 분석하였다. 이를 위하여 서울 및 경기지역에 근무하는 중년직장인들을 대상으로 설문조사를 하였으며, 총 346부의 자료를 사용하였다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 개인의 성취욕구, 위험감수성향 그리고 통제소재가 강할수록 창업효능감이 높고 둘째, 혁신성, 성취욕구 그리고 위험감수성향이 높을수록 창업의도가 높은 것으로 나타났으며 셋째, 가족지지는 성취욕구와 창업효능감 간에 조절역할을 하는 것으로 나타났다. 마지막으로 인구사회학적 특성에 따라 개인특성, 가족지지, 창업효능감 그리고 창업의도는 부분적으로 차이가 났다.

Relational Benefits and Visual Arts Outcomes via WeChat Business

  • The purpose of this study was to understand the effect of WeChat relational benefits on customer satisfaction and purchase intention. Due to the rapid development in the technological field, the use of WeChat has expanded drastically in recent years. In visual arts industry, WeChat business occupies a significant proportion of emerging industries. The recruited participants that were recruited via an online survey website were 335 (www.sojump.com). SPSS 22.0 statistical system was used to analyze the descriptive statistics, reliability, and validity. This study conceptualizes the positive relationship among relational benefits, customer satisfaction, and purchase intention of visual arts products. The findings indicated that WeChat users' relational benefits can be categorized into two distinct benefit types: confidence, and social benefits. The more relational benefits WeChat users perceived, the higher the level of satisfaction. In contrast, the positive influence of customer satisfaction on purchase intention is weaker in consumers with a higher level of perceived risk. The results of this study will help WeChat business to retain its customers, thus, gaining a long-term value for visual arts industry. Theoretical and managerial implication for WeChat business are provided.

  • This study focuses on the risk management of "Digital Goods" appeared with the progress of information technology(IT) in international transaction. As a result of that digital goods have a lot of uncertainty between the general goods or service which have been deal with object of international transaction broadly because digital goods hold uniqueness. In this study, the author give a definition of "Digital Goods" and make an examination of uniqueness of that in international transaction. Next, six risks are defined base on risk theory and risk analysis matrix applying risk mapping model is made. Conclusionally, risk transfer as insurance is adequate to manage business risk, security risk, credit risk and legal risk. Meanwhile, risk avoidance is adequate to manage reputation risk and market risk. But, this study have following three limits. Firstly, concerning definition of the risk, real case is not applied owing to lack of transaction data. Secondly, measuring of the risk is not based on absolute data but relative data. Lastly, suggesting way of risk management is not concrete and practical to international trader of digital goods.

불확실성하에서 창업동기에 영향을 미치는 조절초점과 위험감수성에 관한 연구 (A Study on Regulatory Focus and Risk Taking Affecting Entrepreneurial Motivation Under Uncertainty)

  • 본 연구는 팬데믹한 불확실성하에서 창업동기에 영향을 미치는 조절초점과 기업가정신에 관한 연구이다. 특히 국내의 선행연구에서 유의성이 관측되지 않은 방어초점과 위험감수성, 경제적 창업동기 사이의 실증분석에서 한계점으로 제언하고 있는 표본의 다양성에 집중하여 보완적으로 검증하고자하였다. 또한 코로나19로 불확실성이 심화되고 경제상황이 큰 타격을 받고 있는 특수한 외부환경 아래에서 창업동기에 영향을 미칠 수 있는 선천적 성향의 개인특성인 조절초점과 위험감수성을 회귀분석하고, 조절초점과 창업동기 사이에서 위험감수성의 매개효과를 실증하였다. 실증결과, 방어초점과 위험감수성, 경제적 창업동기에 유의미한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으며, 방어초점과 경제적 창업동기 사이에서 위험감수성이 매개효과를 가지는 것으로 나타냈다. 이러한 결과는 기존의 선행연구에서는 관측되지 않은 결과로써 의미가 있으며, 선천적 성향이 큰 개인특성인 조절초점이 후천적 성향의 위험감수성과 상호작용하여 창업동기에 영향을 주는 것으로 판단된다. 이러한 연구결과는 갈수록 심화되는 외부환경의 불확실성 속에서 창업을 꿈꾸거나 창업하려는 창업가에게 기업가정신 또는 창업교육 프로그램을 할 때 조절초점과 위험감수성을 이해하고 집중함으로써 실질적 도움을 줄 수 있을 것이다. 반면, 선행연구와 다른 이러한 결과들이 표본의 다양성 효과인지 아니면, 코로나19같은 외부환경의 영향인지 확인할 필요가 있으며, 추후 추가연구를 통하여 재검증이 필요하다.

Does CSR Really Enhance Sustainability?: A Perspective of Business Cycle

  • Purpose - The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of macroeconomic conditions on the relationship between CSR and firm value. Design/methodology/approach - Employing KEJI index as a proxy for a firm's CSR activities, we investigate whether investors discount the value of CSR activity during the economic recession when a firm's bankruptcy risk is high and thus its future sustainability is suspected. Findings - Our empirical result represents that the value of a firm with high CSR score is undervalued during recession, reflecting investors doubt the sustainability of a firm whose CSR score is high when overall economy is exposed to high downside risk. Research implications or Originality - It implies that investors may not regard the CSR activities as an indicator of corporate sustainability. Also, the result represents that stable macroeconomic condition can be one of the important factors to make the CSR activity increase a firm's value.
