Matching Sourcing Destination with Fashion Brands' Business Model: Comparative Advantages of Bangladesh and Vietnam Apparel Industries

  • This study investigated the comparative advantages of the Bangladeshi and Vietnamese apparel industries using Global Value Chain (GVC) framework. In this study, the GVC framework was expanded to include social and environmental sustainability issues. Secondary data, for the 2012 - 2013 period, were collected and analyzed for each component of the apparel GVC. The findings indicated that while both countries have unique comparative advantages, Vietnam clearly emerged as a leader on many GVC components. Bangladesh's comparative advantage lies in lower wages, producing high volume orders, and lean manufacturing. In spite of Vietnam's higher labor costs, it has comparative advantages in higher productivity, skilled and trained workers, manufacturing of intricate styles of high quality, agility and flexible manufacturing, more developed infrastructure and logistic services as well as greater social and environmental compliances. This study contributes towards insight into best sourcing fit for fashion brand business models. Based on the findings, fashion driven companies offering more complex styles at a faster rate will benefit from choosing Vietnam. In contrast, Bangladesh might be a better choice for high volume driven companies that offer basic apparel and better value for their consumers. From theoretical perspective, the research makes an important contribution by expanding the GVC framework.

  • The cutthroat competition of the market for the medical services caused changes and developments of hospital management from the traditional provider-oriented management to a consumer-oriented management toward the customer. And the popularization of on-line community through the growth and spread of internet technology is developed into an important exploration activity to provide various medical information to patient(or customer) who wishes a high-quality medical services. This is an on-line Word-of-Mouth(WOM). It is a kind of information exploration that is performed by customers before choosing the hospital with off-line word-of-mouth. In this study, we develop our research model to verify the causal relationships among on/off-line WOM, key determinants of hospital choice and the customer's will to make use of the hospitals, and total effect of these variables. We adopt a component-based PSL method for an empirical analysis of the patients experienced dermatology or obstetrics gynecology. Finally, we understand the characteristics of the various medical services and draw new and significant strategic previews.

Brand Public Benefits and Consumer Engagement

  • Compared with the research on consumer engagement in brand community, the research on consumer engagement in brand public has been relatively less. This research aimed at exploring how brand public characteristics such as information variety, various communications and no limitation in expressing self affect the brand public engagement. 274 questionnaires answered by Chinese consumers are used to conduct analysis. Principal component analysis is used to test the reliability and validity of each construct, and structural equation model is used to test hypotheses. The study finds the positive effects of information variety on information benefits, those of various communications on social benefits, and also positive roles of no limitation in expressing self to brand-related self-expression motivation. And each of the information benefits, social benefits and brand-related self-expression motivation is proved to positively affect brand public engagement. The study implies that marketers should give attention to characteristics of brand public, and provide the ways by which members of brand public engage the brand. Additionally, marketers should pay more attention to both direct and indirect engagement activities of consumers toward brand public in social media to better understand their target consumers.

전통시장 상인대학 교육서비스 품질이 경영성과에 미치는 영향 (The Impacts of Education Service Quality in the Traditional Market Merchant College on Business Performance)

  • Purpose - This study empirically analyzes the effect of improvements in the quality of service management performance of college education on traders' conscious change of business management innovation and diverse sales expertise for a year. The use of traders' conscious changes and sales expertise as variables for the verification of the effects of parameters related to the active trader's traditional education market is a desirable direction. The method of research reflects the quality of education service, management result, traders' conscious changes, and sales expertise to understand the precise essence and definition of teaching quality at merchant colleges through theoretical consideration. Moreover, its impact on traders' conscious changes and sales expertise in empirical analysis acts as an intermediary. Research design, data, methodology - The hypothesis of this study leverages the SPSS statistical program. To gather actual proof, sample survey for theoretical research examined 262 valid papers of the 300 papers written by 10 merchants who graduated from merchant's university. First, using the SERVQUAL model, Parasuraman et al. (1996) indicated that for quality of education service, the configuration of factors is the same as the sympathetic performance, that is, responsiveness and empathy, and traders are aware of these elements. However, our preliminary investigation revealed that traders' university education has been excluded as a component of quality of service in the earlier studies. Moreover, we found that certainty of knowledge, reliability, and sympathy are influenced by challenges and by the changing intentions of merchant consciousness. In addition, our study confirms that improvements in convincing abilities and sales technique have a positive impact. Second, merchants' and traders' expertise are proven to affect business performance. In other words, university education of traders and merchants affects the consciousness of consumers, and changes patterns of sales. Third, the quality of service management education and change in the consciousness has a considerable impact on the trader, thereby maximizing business performance and acting as an intermediary for verification. Fourth, the quality of service management education affects the trader's sales expertise to maximize business performance. Results - To summarize, the quality of college educational services relates to the improvement of business performance and the role of the resulting virtuous cycle. Consequently, we can look for suggestions in the traditional markets, where the Government pays attention to the exterior environmental factors as well as to the changing business environment. However, the most important aspect is the merchant awareness. That is, a merchant should understand the distribution environment. Several competitor and trend analyses should be conducted to meet customers' expectations positively and proactively cope with any challenges related to changes. Further, expertise in sales and marketing skills need to be acquired to improve customer convincing abilities and develop a customer-oriented mindset. Conclusions - According to the changes in consumption trends of business enterprises, new management techniques are required to survive competition by improving traditional markets, which will necessitate more competitive education programs in merchant universities.

직무요구-통제 모형에 의한 간호사의 소진(Burnout)에 관한 연구 (An Empirical Study on the Burnout of Nurses Based on the Job Demand-Control Model)

  • Based on the Job Demand-Control model which was proposed by R. A. Karasek, this study was designed to investigate the relationships among job demand, job control, and job burnout of nurses. In addition, the other aim of the present study was to test the moderating or buffering role of social supports in the relationship between the job demand and job burnout. The analysis based on data collected from 239 nurses who are working in two general hospitals has produced the following results. We found that job demand was primarily related to the exhaustion component of burnout, whereas (lack of) job control was related to the disengagement dimension of burnout. And social supports from the supervisor attenuated the disengagement, whereas social supports from the colleague diminished the exhaustion. But, we found no interaction effects that were expected in the hypotheses. Specifically, social supports didn't buffer the negative effects of job demand on burnout, while job control had the moderating effect which was in opposite direction. The implications of these analyses and limitations of the study were then discussed.

제주지역 경기변동의 특성 연구 (A Study of Characteristics of Business Cycle in the Jeju Region)

  • 본 논문의 목적은 임의보행 확률추세를 고려하였을 때 제주지역의 경기변동이 어떻게 움직이며 전국과 어떤 차이점이 있는지, 확률추세요인과 순환요인의 상대적 중요도는 어떻게 되는 지, 그리고 그 원인이 무엇인지를 찾고 그 시사점을 도출하는데 있다. 실증분석을 통해 발견된 제주지역 경기변동의 특성은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 제주지역 경기변동에서 확률추세 요인이 차지하는 비중이 46.8%로 전국의 27.8%에 비해 큰 것으로 추론해 볼 때 기술발전, 자본축적 등과 같이 경제의 장기적인 성장 요소가 작용하는 제주지역의 높은 성장 가능성을 발견할 수 있었다. 둘째, 제주지역 고용 변동성은 모형에 따라 0.007에서 0.058로 다른 지표들의 변동성들과 비교하였을 때 가장 낮게 나타났다. 제주지역의 고용시장은 전체적으로 경직되어 있어 산업의 생산 증대에 따른 새로운 고용 창출이 원활하게 이루어지지 않고 있다는 것을 보여주고 있었다. 셋째, 3차 산업인 관광산업은 경기변동을 안정화시키는 요인으로 작용하고 있는 반면에 2차 산업인 광공업생산은 관광산업의 결과와 반대로 나타나 관광산업과 달리 광공업생산 분야는 기반이 약하다는 것을 추측할 수 있었다.

  • 서비스 지향 아키텍처(Service Oriented Architecture)는 기업 인프라의 복잡성 및 유지비용을 최소화하고, 기업의 생산성과 유연성을 극대화할 수 있는 것으로, 경영환경이 빠르게 급변하는 최근에 떠오른 이슈이다. 엔터프라이즈 수준에서 서비스 지향 아키텍처를 도입하는 전략은 조직의 비즈니스 프로세스를 정의하고 이에 필요한 서비스를 모델링하여, 필요한 서비스를 찾아내거나 개발하는 하향식 전략이 대부분이다. 그러나 대부분의 조직은 SOA를 도입하면서도 기존에 사용하던 컴포넌트 시스템을 최대한 재사용할 수 있기를 바라고 있다. 본 논문에서는 이미 개발된 컴포넌트 기반 시스템에서 입출력 데이타가 아닌 GUI 이벤트 정보를 이용하여 상향식 방법으로, 서비스 재사용성과 유지보수성을 고려하면서 비즈니스 서비스 모델에 적합한 크기의 서비스를 식별할 수 있는 방법을 제안한다. 본 논문에서 제안한 방법은 실제 129개의 GUI와 13개의 컴포넌트를 가진 경영정보시스템에 적용한 결과 기존의 컴포넌트를 기준으로 서비스를 식별하는 것보다 결합도가 5배정도로 약해지면서 3개의 서비스가 명확히 구분되었고, 식별 후 연관관계에 따른 문제점도 약 49%정도 줄어드는 것을 보였다.

  • 현대과학기술의 발전은 한 사회의 문화와 사회구성원간의 커뮤니케이션에 큰 영향을 미친다. 따라서 기존의 정보를 수집, 정리하여 이용자에게 제공하던 도서관은 현대사회의 변화에 발맞추어 다양한 역할을 부여받게 되었다. 최근 공공도서관 신축 또는 리모델링 수요의 급증이 예상되고 있지만 우리는 아직 도서관의 유형과 서비스 규모를 고려한 도서관 공간운영에 대한 모델이 없는 실정이다. 본 연구는 공공 도서관이 합리적이고 체계적인 공간운영을 하기 위하여 필요한 조건과 사례를 검토하고 공간구성의 현황과 문제점을 도출하여 해결대안이 될 수 있는 공간요소의 재구성을 통해 효율적인 운영을 위한 공간구성체계를 제시하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 급증하는 도서관의 조립과 리모델링 사업계획에서 참고할 수 있도록 도서관의 특성과 서비스 규모에 상응하는 합리적인 공간운영 표준모델의 개발을 위해, 첫째, 국내 공공도서관 공간구성 현황을 조사 분석하고 둘째, 국내 및 해외의 도서관 건축물 공간구성 사례 수집분석하며, 셋째, 향후 신축할 국내 공공도서관 건축물을 유형별로 정의하여 공간구성에 대한 합리적인 권장모델을 개발하여 제시하고자 한다.

기술분류체계 기반의 장애 점검포인트와 이벤트 룰엔진을 적용한 무장애체계 구현 (Fault-Free Process for IT System with TRM(Technical Reference Model) based Fault Check Point and Event Rule Engine)

  • 글로벌 싱글 인스턴스(GSI) 기반의 기업의 정보시스템은 기업 내부정보 및 자원/자산을 통합관리하고 프로세스의 동질성을 확보하여 업무의 효율성 및 전사적인 생산성을 향상시키고 있지만 정보시스템의 장애가 발생하게 되면 비즈니스가 마비될 수 있고 그로 인해 엄청난 금전적 손실이 따르는 위험을 동시에 안고 있다. 여분의 부품 사용을 전제하는 수많은 결함허용(Fault-Tolerance) 기법들이 안정적인 정보시스템을 위해 연구되어 왔다. 결함허용 기법의 설계 및 적용의 어려운 점은 결함의 유형 및 빈도를 정보시스템을 운영하기 전에는 알기 어렵다는 것이다. 따라서 정보시스템 구축 단계에서의 결함허용 기법의 적용과 함께, 구축 후, 운영적인 측면에서의 장애관리 기법을 동시에 고려하여 안정적으로 정보시스템을 운영하는 것이 매우 중요하다. 본 연구에서는 기술분류체계(TRM)기반의 점검포인트와 이벤트 룰엔진 적용으로 시스템 장애를 사전예측 하는 방법을 포함하는 정보시스템 장애관리 기법인 무장애체계 프로세스를 제시 하였다. 또한, 무장애체계 방법을 적용한 장애관리 정보시스템(PICS)을 하이테크 장치산업의 대표기업에 구축하여 무장애체계 방법 적용 전, 후의 효과도 함께 제시 하였다. 무장애체계 도입 후 월별 장애건수, 장애시간은 각각 46%, 56% 감소하였으며, 장애로 인한 매출에 대한 기회 손실금액은 77% 절감하는 효과를 보였다.
