  • As one of the key strategic resources, the customer knowledge not only improves the performance of customer relationship management, but fosters the sustained competitive advantages as it creates values for customers with customer knowledge management. On the basis of the general introduction of research on customer knowledge management, this paper develops the research on customer knowledge management from the perspective of strategic management, and discusses further relevant studies concerning concepts of customer knowledge and customer knowledge management, studying perspectives, key questions as well as development directions for research, and so on.

  • The 21st century is often called the knowledge-based information society. A new term, Data Technology (DT), which handles data and creation of information, is defined. A few important concepts of DT which are related to Six Sigma are described. Also some characteristics of Knowledge Management (KM) which provide new knowledge are explained. As a new direction of Six Sigma, Six Sigma Focused on Knowledge Creation (SSFKC) is suggested. The way of implementation of SSFKC and its relationship with DT and KM are elaborated.

  • MOCT(Ministry of Construction St Transportation) suggested "A Plan for Implementation of Knowledge-based Economy for the Construction Industry" to add high value to a construction industry. by means of knowledge-based management. However, there is no knowledge management system which considers characteristics of a domestic construction industry. So a useful knowledge vanished the moment a company terminated a construction Uoject. Therefore, it is necessary to develop "An application method of a knowledge management system for the construction industry" which takes a real environment into consideration. This study aims to present the road map of a knowledge management system which helps the bodies of the construction industry(government, research center/university, enterprise, etc) to do a knowledge activity efficiently. To accomplish this objective, we analyzed overall knowledge management activities. In addition we suggested an implementation direction and strategy of a knowledge management system for the construction industry. As results of this study, we presented the road map of a knowledge management system for the construction industry, which is composed of policy forum, study forum, professional forum, research forum and knowledge 8t information DB. We expect that results of this study will be used as a basis for implementing the knowledge portal that brings a construction industry to a high value added industry.

  • With the rapid changes of business environments and the tremendous amount of information generated from those environments, most companies must learn to manage those changes and information more effectively. Furthermore, within those amounts of information, the information that meets with achieving the goal of each company should be selected and managed as a core competency, i.e. the knowledge, visible and invisible assets of the company. Knowledge management, as a tool of creating, sharing, and applying such knowledge, has pursued those requirements of companies and been studied by many researchers and consultants, especially focusing on the Knowledge Map'. It is said that a knowledge map is a powerful tool for scanning and managing the knowledge that exists in a company and that it is the most important part of establishing a knowledge management base. Until now, however, there have been no specific or practical models for establishing a knowledge map, in spite of the concern. For this reason, this paper suggests a practical model for establishing a knowledge map in terms of a knowledge acquisition procedure based on the traditional research concerning concept maps. In addition to this, for examining the validity of the model, a case study on the 'P' steel and iron company has been performed. This paper's methodology on developing a knowledge map and the procedures to apply them to the real business environment will suggest a cornerstone in the field of practical implementation of knowledge management.

기업용 마이크로블로그의 사용행태에 대한 사례연구: 지식경영전략을 중심으로 (Case Study on the Enterprise Microblog Usage: Focusing on Knowledge Management Strategy)

  • 지식경영전략은 코드화(Codification) 전략과 대인화(Personalization) 전략으로 대별할 수 있으며(Hansen et al., 1999), 성공적인 지식경영의 도입과 활용을 위한 두 전략의 운영 방안에 대한 연구가 계속되어 왔다. 그리고 지식경영 시스템에 대한 기존 연구는 주로 대기업의 일부 조직에서 활용한 사례를 대상으로 하고 있어, 중소 규모의 기업 전체를 대상으로 하는 연구는 미비한 실정이다. 본 논문은 중소 규모의 기업에 적합한 지식경영 시스템으로 기업용 마이크로블로그를 특정하고, 기업용 마이크로블로그를 활용한 중소기업의 지식경영전략을 코드화 전략과 대인화 전략의 관점에서 검토한다. 지식경영전략과 기업용 마이크로블로그에 대한 선행연구를 통하여 "기업의 성장에 따라 기업용 마이크로블로그의 활용은 코드화 전략에서 대인화 전략 중심으로 변화한다"는 가설을 설정하였다. 이 가설을 확인하기 위하여 창업 초기부터 현재까지 '야머'(Yammer)라는 기업용 마이크로블로그를 사용하고 있는 소규모 기업을 대상으로 사례연구를 진행하였다. 사례연구는 기업용 마이크로블로그의 사용 기간을 창업 '초기', 현재의 조직 형태를 갖추게 된 '중기', 그리고 연구가 진행된 '현재' 등 세 시점으로 나누고 콘텐츠를 분석하는 종단 분석을 실시하였다. 그리고 각 시점별 야머에 등록된 콘텐츠의 커뮤니케이션 유형을 분석하여 사례기업의 기업용 마이크로블로그 사용행태를 분석하고, 지식경영전략의 변화를 확인하는 방법을 사용하였다. 연구의 결과로 소규모 기업에서 지식경영전략의 운영과 그에 적합한 지식경영 시스템의 활용에 대한 실질적인 시사점을 제시하고자 한다.

  • 과거 산업화 시대와 비교하여 현대 지식사회에서는 노동력의 중심이 육체노동에서 지식 노동으로 이동되었지만, 지식근로자의 생산성에는 극적인 성과가 나타나지 않고 있다. 따라서 "현대경영학의 아버지"라고 불리는 피터 드러커의 사상을 기반으로 전문가, 성과, 집중, 자기관리, 인생의 후반부의 지식근로의 요인과 지식근로자의 생산성 결정요소인 과업, 혁신, 자율성, 교육, 품질, ICT활용능력과의 연관성에 대하여 연구한 결과, 지식근로의 요인에 있어서는 성과>집중>자기관리>전문가, 인생의 후반부 순으로 연관성이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 특히 지식근로자에게 모든 생산성 결정요소와 영향요인으로는 성과로 나타났다. 따라서 지식근로자는 "성과"를 중심으로 자신의 분야에서 끊임없는 정보의 탐색과 활용을 통하여 목표를 달성하고, 조직과 사회에 공헌하면서 더불어 살아가는 공동체를 형성하는 데 앞장서야 할 것이다.

  • When it comes to the development of a retail market, it has not only influenced the supply and sales of seafood, but it has also led to considerable changes in consumers' purchasing behavior and purchasing purposes. As consumers' incomes and lifestyles have improved, the tendency to purchase seafood has rapidly changed. In addition, the increase in two-income family incomes that resulted from women's active participation in society has increased the number of consumers purchasing home meal replacements (HMR) or convenience food rather than original food. With these changes in social-economic background and in consumers' needs, the purchase of seafood is gradually changing. As a result, companies are constructing diverse marketing strategies to satisfy their needs. Companies' marketing strategies have an immediate and vital effect on consumers' purchases of seafood. The most important and fundamental role is providing an opportunity for consumers to choose what to buy by being giving information and knowledge. In this paper, the purchasing behavior of consumers buying seafood will be examined with respect to their knowledge. First, which factors among a diverse range of marketing strategies exerted a significant impact on consumers' objectives and subjective knowledge was examined. Second, the study investigated which knowledge factors were important in influencing attitudes and purchasing purposes based on knowledge level. By comparing and analyzing factors related to consumers' knowledge with respect to seafood purchases, information is provided to inform companies about efficient strategies for marketing tactics.

Transfer of Marketing Knowledge within Multinational Corporations and Its Impact on Performance: Moderating Effects of Absorptive Capacity, Socialization, and Local Knowledge

  • Knowledge1 is considered to be a key element of understanding how organizations gain and sustain competitive advantages. But very few firms are capable of creating the requisite knowledge and thus, firms should acquire and exploit new knowledge through knowledge transfer processes. The empirical part of this study involves examining relationships among adaptability of knowledge and knowledge transfer and marketing performance and testing the moderating roles of absorptive capacity, socialization and local marketing knowledge. This study is organized as follows: (1) Previous literature on knowledge, knowledge transfer and absorptive capacity is summarized, followed by the development of hypotheses derived from the knowledge-based view and absorptive capacity. (2) The hypotheses are tested with data collected from MNCs' subsidiaries performing marketing activities in Korea.Thestudyisclosedwithfindings,implications,andconclusions. Following six research hypotheses are drawn from literature review in related areas: H1: Adaptability of knowledge transferred from the MNCs' headquarters and other subsidiaries is positively associated with knowledge inflows into the receiving subsidiary. H2: The level of marketing knowledge transferred from the MNCs' headquarters and other subsidiaries is positively associated with marketing performance of the receiving subsidiary. H3: Increases in potential absorptive capacity will enhance the relationship between adaptability of knowledge and the level of marketing knowledge transfer. H4: Increases in realized absorptive capacity will enhance the relationship between the level of knowledge transfer and marketing performance of the receiving subsidiary. H5: Increases in socialization activity among the headquarters and subsidiaries will enhance the relationship between adaptability of knowledge and the level of marketing knowledge transfer. H6: Increases in the level of locally developed marketing knowledge will enhance the relationship between the level of knowledge transfer and marketing performance of the receiving subsidiary. The research framework that illustrates the proposed hypotheses is presented in figure 1. The unit of analysis for this study is knowledge transfer from the MNCs' headquarters and other subsidiaries to their subsidiaries operating in South Korea. The population for this study consists of subsidiaries established either as joint ventures or as wholly-owned subsidiaries. A group of 603 foreign firms were drawn from diverse industry organizations and business societies. After personal contact, telephone, fax, and e-mail to request that the respondents complete the questionnaire, 282 valid questionnaires from 133 initial sample companies were collected. The results of the empirical analyses significantly support all of the proposed hypotheses except hypothesis 3. Adaptability of external knowledge promotes knowledge transfer and the relationship is moderated by a firm's potential knowledge absorptive capacity. On the other hand, knowledge transfer improves a firm's marketing performance and a firm's realized knowledge absorptive capacity and local marketing knowledge moderate the relationship. The theoretical and practical implications of the findings in this study are as follows: (1) firms must take seeking, transferring, sharing and exploiting of external knowledge into serious consideration, while simultaneously creating knowledge to support the necessary business operations, remain competitive, and achieve superior performance. (2) Firms should continuously seek to develop their knowledge absorptive capacity (both potential and realized capacity) to absorb, learn and utilize valuable external knowledge. (3) Firms should emphasize not only absorptive capacity, but also development of local knowledge. Firms with strong absorptive capability and local knowledge can learn and transfer more external knowledge, which can be translated into greater levels of competence and performance.

  • 본 연구는 기존의 지식경영시스템의 한계요인을 분석하여, 시맨틱 웹 기술혁신이 이들 한계요인을 어떻게 극복할 수 있는가에 대한 방안을 제시하고자 하였다. 기존의 지식경영시스템의 한계요인을 분석하기 위해서는 설문조사 방법을 이용하였는데, 시스템 사용의 시간 및 공간적 한계, 시스템 사용의 불편성, 검색 한계, 통합한계라는 시스템 품질의 한계와 지식의 부적합성/불완전성과 비신뢰성이라는 지식품질의 한계가 비즈니스의 가치흐름에 장애요인으로 작용하는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 본 연구에서는 특히 시스템 한계를 극복하는데 시맨틱 웹이 적용될 수 있다는 것을 지식경영과정이라는 관점에서 분석하고 시맨틱 기반의 지식경영시스템의 개념적 모델을 제안하였다.

BARRIER TO ELECTRONIC KNOWLEDGE REPOSITORY SUCCESS: INFORMATION OVERLOAD AND CONTRIBUTION OVERLOAD

  • In the present competitive organizational environment more organizations are implementing knowledge management initiatives to gain strategic advantage. One such initiative is that of implementing electronic knowledge repositories (EKR) which often leads to a rapid increase in the quantity of information employees have to process daily; raising concerns of employees being overloaded. This is especially true for current EKRs using distributive technology, enabling customizable individual workspaces which can result in loose knowledge structures. This paper identifies a new type of information overload (IO), extending the concept as occurring in both knowledge seekers and contributors and uses cognitive dissonance theory to provide evidence that IO can change employees' perception of EKR usage. This research paper provides the first empirical evidence that overload has no sufficient affect on EKR continuance intention directly, but has significant negative affect on the two main success measures; perceived usefulness and satisfaction of the system.
