경영혁신을 위한 과제 도출 방안 (A Idea Development Method for Process Innovation)

  • Business operates under the fast pace of large-scale changes. These changes occur in environments including competitors, markets and consumers. To survive under these changes, process innovation is becoming the eminent issue faced by executives. Process innovation is to generate, select, and implement new ideas adopting changes in organizational structure, management pattern, human resource management systems and so on. Examples include restructuring, outsourcing, benchmarking, total quality management, and business process reengineering. This study suggests how to develop process innovation ideas. Related screening and implementation techniques are also presented.

사회적자본과 혁신활동의 관계에서 지식공유의 매개효과: 중소기업을 중심으로 (The mediating effect of knowledge sharing between social capital and innovation in small business)

  • This paper reviewed the mediating effects of knowledge sharing between social capital(interaction, trust, shared vision) and innovation(radical innovation, incremental innovation) in small businesses. Based on the responses from 337 responses, the results of mediating effect analysis and path analysis showed that interaction and shared vision effect positively on radical innovation and incremental innovation via knowledge sharing or directly, but trust effects positively only on incremental innovation. Social capital and knowledge sharing have more effects on incremental innovation than on radical innovation.

이업종융합회 참여 중소기업의 사회적자본과 혁신활동의 관계에 대한 연구 (The relationship between social capital and innovation in small business of Convergence Federation)

  • This paper reviewed the relationship between social capital(interaction, trust, shared vision) and innovation(product innovation, process innovation), and the moderating effect of CEO's entrepreneurship in small businesses of Convergence Federation. Based on the responses from 252 responses, the results of multiple regression analysis showed that interaction and shared vision effect positively on product innovation and process innovation, but trust effects positively only on process innovation. The results of moderating analysis showed that entrepreneurship effects positively on the relationship between trust and product innovation, and the relationship between shared vision and process innovation.

  • A key factor of competitiveness of a firm is technology innovation including product and process innovation. This paper explores the importance and performance of innovation in IT industry across manufacturing and service business. Using importance-performance analysis based on a survey of Korean manufacturing and service firms, we find the characteristics of innovation in IT under the context of industry difference. Out study indicate that Korean IT firms need to recognize the importance of technology innovation and enhance the performance in some areas. In future research, we will expand the boundary of innovation into non-technology innovation as well as service-specific innovation.

  • Innovation has been considered not only an important factor for creating and maintaining the competitiveness of nations but also a key determinant of enterprises performance in over the world. Innovation is the process by which an enterprise develops new products, services, processes or management systems to meet requirements due to the change of business environment, technology. The results of implementing innovation increase capacity of the business, thereby helping the business to develop sustainably in the face of market trends and competition from competitors. This paper aims to explore the current status of innovation activities as well as proposes solutions to develop innovation activities for Vietnamese enterprises. The proposed solutions in this study paper create a premise to improve the competitiveness and sustainable growth of enterprises in the context of deeper and more comprehensive international economic integration.

  • 2003년부터 시작하여 현재 진행 중인 L전자의 BPM 구축은 한국에서는 최초의 전사적 BPM 구축으로 다른 기업의 관심의 대상이 되고 있다. L전자는 세계 TOP 3의 Global Brand을 이룬다는 목표 하에 기업 업무 혁신(process Innovation)을 가동하였다. 끊임없이 가속화되는 세계화나, IT의 발전 등으로 인한 기업 경영 환경의 변화는 전략의 변화에 따른 업무 처리 절차, 방식의 변화를 초래하고 있기 때문이다. 본 사례는 L전자가 BPM(Business Process Management)을 이용하여 업무 프로세스를 체계적이며 지속적으로 개선하려는 노력에 대하여 구체적으로 살펴보고, BPM을 통한 혁신의 의미와 가능성에 대하여 논의한다.

The Effects of Dynamic Capabilities, Entrepreneurial Creativity and Ambidextrous Innovation on Firm's Competitiveness

  • A firm's competitive advantage generating from empowering its dynamic capabilities is very important for established companies and new business ventures in facing intense competition and in responding to unanticipated environmental changes. This study aims to investigate the relationship between dynamic capabilities of a new business venture and its competitive advantage and the effect of entrepreneurial creativity and ambidextrous innovation mediation on the relationship between dynamic capabilities and the competitive advantage of a new business venture. Data was collected using an online survey from 143 new Indonesian shipping agency companies that spread over two-thirds of Indonesia's territory and was analyzed using structural equations modeling (SEM). The results showed that the dynamic capabilities of new business ventures are positively associated with competitive advantage but not significantly. This result indicates that empowering a new business venture's dynamic capability is not sufficient to generate a competitive advantage. However, a new business venture's dynamic capability is significantly and positively associated with the competitive advantage when mediated by entrepreneurial creativity and ambidextrous innovation. The findings of this study suggest that the competitive advantage of a new business venture can be gained from empowering a firm's dynamic capabilities through mediating entrepreneurial creativity and ambidextrous innovation in facing intense competition and in responding to unanticipated environmental changes.

The Impact of Market Orientation Indices, Marketing Innovation, and Competitive Advantages on the Business Performance in Distributer Enterprises

  • Purpose - Market orientation is a key factor for business performance in today's fluctuating conditions. This study investigates whether the employment of innovation can improve the innovative capability and increase the performance by gaining competitive advantages or not. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the effects of market orientation on the performance of small and medium size distributer enterprises (SMDEs) in Iran. Research design, data, and methodology - Customer orientation, Competitor orientation, and Inter-functional coordination have been regarded as market orientation indices to determine the effects of these indices on marketing innovation, gaining competitive advantages, and companies' performance as well. Data were collected from managers and experts in SMDEs in Iran. The structural equations modeling are used for analysis. Results - The results indicated that marketing innovation has been improved in competitive companies that enjoyed a high level of Inter-functional coordination among the various units. Besides, marketing innovation resulted in gaining competitive advantages regarding cost management, concentration, and differentiation in these companies. In addition, it was observed that SMDEs that obtain competitive advantages are equipped to reap superior performance. Conclusions - With cost management, differentiation and concentration are more likely to enhance the enterprise efficiency and effectiveness than other companies. Additionally, competitiveness, inter-functional coordination, and marketing innovation in SMDEs have a positive impact on marketing innovation.

혁신클러스터 활성화 요인이 기업의 경영성과에 미치는 영향: 대덕연구개발특구 중소기업을 중심으로 (Impact of Innovation Cluster Activating Factors on Business Performance: Focusing on the SMEs Case of Daedeok Innopolis)

  • 혁신클러스터 정책은 특정 지역에 산업부문과 연구부문의 연계를 강화하여 산업의 경쟁력을 확보하는 것을 목적으로 한다. OECD(1997)에서 첨단 중소기업을 중심으로 산업 재구조화를 통해 지역발전을 유도하는 혁신클러스터 개념이 제시된 후 산업과 지역, 과학기술 분야에서 혁신클러스터 개념을 적용하여 적극적으로 정책을 추진하기 시작했다. 혁신클러스터 활성화 차원에서 그간의 정책 및 연구에서는 구성원 간 교류·협력에 집중하는 경향이 뚜렷했으나, 본 연구에서는 혁신클러스터를 육성하고자 하는 근본적인 이유인 산업 및 지역의 경쟁력 강화, 즉 기업의 경쟁력 강화에 집중하여 연구를 진행하였다. 이에 따라, 본 연구는 혁신클러스터 활성화 요인이 대덕연구개발구에 입주한 중소기업의 경영성과에 미치는 영향을 분석하는 것을 목적으로 진행하였다. 이를 위해 혁신클러스터가 가지는 본질적인 개념인 산업집적 요인, 네트워킹 요인, 혁신창출 요인 등 혁신클러스터 활성화 요인 도출 후 175개 기업의 설문조사 결과를 활용하여 가설을 검증하였다. 혁신클러스터 활성화 요인 중 산업집적 요인과 혁신창출 요인은 기업의 경영성과에 긍정적으로 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 네트워킹 요인은 기업의 경영성과에 유의한 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 분석되었다. 본 연구는 이전에 수행된 사례 중심의 연구들과 달리 실증분석을 통해 혁신클러스터의 활성화 요인을 다루었다는 점에서 차별성을 가진다. 또한, 혁신클러스터에서 네트워킹 요인에 대한 직관적 판단과 실제 기업의 경영성과에 미치는 영향 간 차이를 고려하여, 보다 효과적인 혁신클러스터 정책을 위해서는 지역에 뿌리내려진 사회적·문화적 구조, 특화 산업의 특성, 구성원의 니즈 등 다각적인 관점에서 혁신클러스터에 대한 입체적 검토의 필요성을 제기했다는 측면에서 실무적인 의의도 존재한다.

What Makes Open Innovation Processes Better? A Focus on IT Professionals' Attitudes

  • A recent trend in innovation paradigm is the shift from closed innovation to open innovation principles. This trend is characterized by the use of purposive inflows and outflows of knowledge not only to accelerate internal innovation, but also to expand the markets for external use of innovation. However, the Not-Invented-Here (NIH), and Not-Sold-Here (NSH) or Only-Use-Here (OUH) syndromes are the most common challenges encountered in open innovation processes. Therefore, this study has the following main aims: 1) propose a research model that explains the factors that influence NIH and NSH/OUH attitudes based on motivation theory with perceived organizational fairness and commitment, 2) investigate their impacts on NIH and NSH/OUH attitudes, and 3) provide useful theoretical and practical insights. The proposed research model was empirically tested using survey data collected from information technology (IT) professionals in Korea. One of the major findings indicates that IT professionals' perceived organizational fairness has a negative effect on NIH attitudes in open innovation process. Theoretical and practical contributions of this study are also discussed.
