  • This paper presents a chaotic neural networks to solve the distribution feeder reconfiguration problem for loss reduction. Feeder reconfiguration problem is the determination of switching option that minimizes the power losses for a particular set of loads in distribution systems. A chaotic neural networks is used to determine the switching combinations, select the status of the switches, and find the best combination of switches for minimum loss. The proposed method has been tested on 32 bus system, and the results indicate that it is able to determine the appropriate switching options for optimal configuration.

  • Generally, the training set of maximum $m{\times}L(m+f)$ patterns in the pattern recognition method is required for the real-time bus reconfiguration strategy when a main transformer fault occurs in the distribution substation. Accordingly, to make the application of pattern recognition method possible, the size of the training set must be reduced as efficient level. This Paper proposes a methodology which obtains the minimized training set by applying the pattern clustering method to load patterns of the main transformers and feeders during selected period and to obtain bus reconfiguration strategy based on it. The MaxMin distance clustering algorithm is adopted as the pattern clustering method. The proposed method reduces greatly the number of load patterns to be trained and obtain the satisfactory pattern matching success rate because that it generates the typical pattern clusters by appling the pattern clustering method to load patterns of the main transformers and feeders during selected period. The proposed strategy is designed and implemented in Visual C++ MFC. Finally, availability and accuracy of the proposed methodology and the design is verified from diversity simulation reviews for typical distribution substation.

  • This paper proposes an expert system with the knowledge learning capability which can enhance the safety and effectiveness of substation operation in the automated substation as well as existing substation by inferring multiple events such as main transformer fault, busbar fault and main transformer work schedule under multiple inference mode and multiple objective mode and by considering totally the switch status and the main transformer operating constraints. Especially inference mode includes the local minimum tree search method and pattern recognition method to enhance the performance of real-time bus reconfiguration strategy. The inference engine of the expert system consists of intuitive inferencing part and logical inferencing part. The intuitive inferencing part offers the control strategy corresponding to the event which is most similar to the real event by searching based on a minimum distance classification method of pattern recognition methods. On the other hand, logical inferencing part makes real-time control strategy using real-time mode(best-first search method) when the intuitive inferencing is failed. Also, it builds up a knowledge base or appends a new knowledge to the knowledge base using pattern learning function. The expert system has main transformer fault, main transformer maintenance work and bus fault processing function. It is implemented as computer language, Visual C++ which has a dynamic programming function for implementing of inference engine and a MFC function for implementing of MMI. Finally, it's accuracy and effectiveness is proved by several event simulation works for a typical substation.

  • This paper presents an efficient algorithm for the loss minimization in distribution systems. Ant colony algorithm is suitable for combinatorial optimization problem as network reconfiguration because it use the long term memory, called pheromone, and heuristic information with the property of the problem. The proposed methodology with some adoptions have been applied to improve the computation time and convergence property. Numerical examples demonstrate the validity and effectiveness of the proposed methodology using 32-bus system.

  • A distribution systems loss minimum reconfiguration method by simulated annealing is proposed. The problem is a complex mixed integer programming problem and is very difficult to solve by a mathematical programming approach. Simulated annealing generates feasible solutions randomly and moves among these solutions using a strategy leading to a global minimum with high probabilities. The solution algorithm has been implemented in developed software package and tested on 32-bus system.

  • Network reconfiguration in distribution systems is realized by changing the status of sectionalizing switches, and is usually done for loss reduction of load balancing in the system. This paper presents an effective heuristic based switching scheme to solve the distribution feeder loss reduction problem. The proposed algorithm consists of two parts. One is to set up a decision tree to represent the various switching operations available. Another is to apply a proposed technique called cyclic best first search. the proposed algorithm identify the most effective the set of switch status configuration of distribution system for loss reduction. To demonstrate the validity of the proposed algorithm, numerical calculations are carried out the 32, 69 bus system models.

  • The COMS(Communication, Ocean and Meteorological Satellite) EPS(Electrical Power Subsystem) is derived from an enhanced Eurostar 3000 EPS which is fully autonomous operation in normal conditions or in the event of a failure and provides a high level of reconfiguration capability and flexibility. This paper introduces the COMS EPS preliminary design result. The COMS EPS consists of a battery, a solar array wing, a PSR(Power Supply Regulator), a PRU(Pyrotechnic Unit), a SADM(Solar Array Drive Mechanism) and relay and fuse brackets. This can offer a bus power capability of 3 kW. The solar array is made of a deployable wing with two panels. One type of solar cells is selected as GaAs/Ge triple junction cells. Li-ion battery is base lined with ten series cell module of five cells in parallel. PSR associated with battery and solar array generates a power bus fully regulated 50 V. Power bus is centralised protection and distribution by relay and fuse brackets. PRU provides power for firing actuators devices. The solar array wing is routed by the SADM under control of the AOCS(Attitude Orbit Control Subsystem). The control and monitoring of the EPS especially of the battery, is performed by the PSR in combination with on-board software.

Opposition Based Differential Evolution Algorithm for Capacitor Placement on Radial Distribution System

  • Distribution system is a critical link between customer and utility. The control of power loss is the main factor which decides the performance of the distribution system. There are two methods such as (i) distribution system reconfiguration and (ii) inclusion of capacitor banks, used for controlling the real power loss. Considering the improvement in voltage profile with the power loss reduction, later method produces better performance than former method. This paper presents an advanced evolutionary algorithm for capacitor inclusion for loss reduction. The conventional sensitivity analysis is used to find the optimal location for the capacitors. In order to achieve a better approximation for the current candidate solution, Opposition based Differential Evolution (ODE) is introduced. The effectiveness of the proposed technique is validated through 10, 33, 34 and85-bus radial distribution systems.

  • This paper presents an application of a newly designed Adaptive Genetic Algorithm (AGA) to solve the Optimal Feeder Routing (OFR) problem for distribution system planning. The main objective of the OFR problem usually is to minimize the total cost that is the sum of investment costs and system operation costs. We propose a properly designed AGA, in this paper, which can handle the horizon-year expansion planning problem of power distribution network in which the location of substation candidates, the location and amount of forecasted demands are given. In the proposed AGA, we applied adaptive operators using specially designed adaptive probabilities. we also a Simplified Load Flow (SLF) technique for radial networks to improve a searching efficiency of AGA. The proposed algorithm has been evaluated with the practical 32, 69 bus test system to show favorable performance. It is also shown that the proposed method for the OFR can also be used for the network reconfiguration problem in distribution system.

  • 본 논문에서는 IDLE 전송만을 수행하거나 버스접근빈도가 낮은 디폴트 마스터(Default Master)를 버스에 대한 접근빈도가 가장 높은 마스터로 재정의 하고, 버스접근빈도가 가장 높은 마스터를 찾기 위한 블록을 제작하여 추가하였다. 이 블록을 이용하여 버스에 대한 접근빈도와 데이터의 특성에 따라 디폴트 마스터를 재설정 해줄 수 있다 이로써 버스에 대한 접시간을 줄이고, 다중버스구조에서 단일버스구조와 동일한 전송이 가능하게 하여, 기존의 디폴트 마스터를 사용한 버스 구조에서 보다 효율적인 전송이 가능하다.
