SHAP을 활용한 벌크선 메인엔진 연료 소모량 예측연구 (A Study on the Prediction of Fuel Consumption of Bulk Ship Main Engine Using Explainable Artificial Intelligence)

  • 본 연구에서는 벌크 선박의 연료 소비를 예측하기 위해 XGBoost와 SHapley Additive exPlanation (SHAP)을 사용하는 예측 모델을 제안한다. 기존 연구에서도 선박 엔진 데이터와 기상데이터를 활용하였지만 선박 연료소모량 예측 모델에 대한 예측 결과의 신뢰성과 예측 모델 구현에 사용된 변수들에 대한 설명이 부족한 한계가 있었다. 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위해 본 연구에서는 XGBoost와 SHAP를 사용하여 예측 모델을 개발하였다. 이 연구는 연구 배경, 범위, 관련 규정 및 이전 연구들, 그리고 연구 방법론에 대한 소개를 제공하며, 또한 벌크선 데이터 정제 방법과 예측 모델 결과의 검증을 설명한다.

Studies on the Macrocycle mediated Transport in a Bulk Liquid Membrane System of Transition Metal Ions

  • Macrocyclic ligands have been studies as cation carriers in a bulk liquid membrane system. $Cu^{2+}$ has been transported using nitrogen substituted macrocycles as carriers and several transition metal ions($M^{n+}\;=\;Mn^{2+},\;Co^{2+},\;Ni^{2+},\;Cd^{2+},\;Pb^{2+}\;and\;Ag^{+}$) have been transported using $DBN_3O_2,\;DBN_2O_2,\;Me_6N_414C4$ and DA18C6 as carriers in a bulk liquid membrane system. Competitive $Cu^{2+}-M2^+$ transport studies have also been carried out for the same system. In single cation transport experiments, the best macrocyclic ligand for transport is a ligand that gives a moderately stable rather than very stable complex in the extraction. However, when both cations are present in the source phase, the cation which forms the most stable complex with carrier is favored in transport over other cations. Generally, the nitrogen substiituted macrocycles transport $Cu^{2+}$ selectively over $Mn^+$. Ligand structure, equilibrium constant (or stability constant) for complex formation, source phase pH and carrier concentration are also important parameters in transport experiments.

  • The 181,000 DWT Bulk Carrier has a different deck house type, which is not typical for previous bulk carriers, to meet the new international rules for bulk carriers. This new deck house has much smaller transverse breadth than the hull's transverse breath, resulting in large levels of the transverse response of the deck house. In addition, the longitudinal response of the funnel showed rather a large magnitude of vibration, which are excited by the ship's main excitations such as the main engine H-moment and the propeller surface forte when the ship operates at the NCR and the MCR speeds In the ballast condition. To solve these issues, the global forced vibration analysis has been performed for the ship and the ship structure has been modified to reduce the vibration level by increasing the girder depth and adjusting the engine room tank arrangement.

살물화물선의 해난사고 특성 (Characteristics of Bulk Carrier Casualties)

  • The present paper deals with the casualties of bulk carriers, many of which resulted in catastrophic and fatal consequencies - losses of ships and lives. In fact the fatality and the alarming statistics of bulk carrier casualty have ling been criticized since 1980's by several seafarers. In the paper, the features of hull structure and operation of bulk carrier are, firstly, examined and, then, casualties and major causes are speculated, Secondly, the issues of circumstances around shipping and naval architectural circles related to the casualties are raised and discussed. Finally, it highlights the need and the way for a higher safety standard for the shipping industy.

A study on minimum weight design of vertical corrugated bulkheads for chemical tankers

  • Corrugated bulkhead has been adopted for cargo tank bulkheads of commercial vessels such as bulk carriers, product oil carriers and chemical tankers. It is considered that corrugated bulkhead is a preferred structural solution, compared to the flat stiffened bulkhead, due to several advantages such as lower mass, easier maintenance and smaller corrosion problems. Many researches to find the optimum shape of corrugated bulkhead have been mostly carried out for bulk carriers. Compared to corrugated bulkheads of bulk carriers, ones of chemical tankers are more complicated since they are composed of transverse and longitudinal bulkheads, and they are made of higher priced materials. The purpose of this study is the development of minimum weight design method for corrugated bulkhead of chemical tankers. Evolution strategy is applied as an optimization technique. It has been verified from many researches that evolution strategy searches global optimum point prominently by using multi-individual searching technique. Multi-individual searching methods need excessive time if they connect to 3-D finite element model for repetitive structural analyses. In order to resolve this issue, 2-D beam element connected to deck and lower stool is substituted for a corrugated structure in this study. To verify the reliability of the structural responses by idealized 2-D beam model, they have been compared with ones by 3-D finite element model. In this study, optimum design for corrugated bulkhead of 30 K chemical tanker has been carried out, and the results by developed optimum design program have been compared with design data of existing ship. It is found out that optimum design is about 9% lighter than one of existing ship.

Effects of Fast Neutron Irradiation on Switching of Silicon Bipolar Junction Transistor

  • Background: When bipolar junction transistors (BJTs) are used as switches, their switching characteristics can be deteriorated because the recombination time of the minority carriers is long during turn-off transient. When BJTs operate as low frequency switches, the power dissipation in the on-state is large. However, when BJTs operate as high frequency switches, the power dissipation during switching transients increases rapidly. Materials and Methods: When silicon (Si) BJTs are irradiated by fast neutrons, defects occur in the Si bulk, shortening the lifetime of the minority carriers. Fast neutron irradiation mainly creates displacement damage in the Si bulk rather than a total ionization dose effect. Defects caused by fast neutron irradiation shorten the lifetime of minority carriers of BJTs. Furthermore, these defects change the switching characteristics of BJTs. Results and Discussion: In this study, experimental results on the switching characteristics of a pnp Si BJT before and after fast neutron irradiation are presented. The results show that the switching characteristics are improved by fast neutron irradiation, but power dissipation in the on-state is large when the fast neutrons are irradiated excessively. Conclusion: The switching characteristics of a pnp Si BJT were improved by fast neutron irradiation.

부정기선 운임변동성 영향 요인 분석에 따른 우리나라 해운정책 지원 방안 (Shipping Industry Support Plan based on Research of Factors Affecting on the Freight Rate of Bulk Carriers by Sizes)

  • 해운산업에 있어 시황모니터링을 통한 선제적인 운임변동성 예측은 필수요소로서 이미 운임하락이 시작된 이후에는 선사들의 손실은 매우 커지게 된다. 이에 본 연구에서는 컨테이너운임에 비해 상대적으로 큰 운임변동성을 가지는 벌크선 운임에 영향을 미치는 요인들을 계량 분석하였으며 이를 통해 향후 해운시황모니터링에 기여하고자 한다. 이를 위해 변수들의 장기 균형관계와 단기적 동적관계를 동시에 이해할 수 있고 금융시장의 실증분석에 가장 활발히 이용되는 벡터오차수정모형을 사용한 분석을 수행하고 이를 통해 핸디사이즈, 수프라 막스, 파나막스, 케이프사이즈 선형별 벌크선 용선료에 미치는 6가지 독립변수들의 영향력을 추정하였다. 6가지 독립변수로는 벌크선 선복량, 철광석 물동량, 리보금리, 벙커유 가격, 유로-달러 환율을 선정하였으며, 종속변수는 핸디사이즈(32,000 DWT) 스팟 용선료, 수프라막스 6 T/C 평균 용선료, 파나막스(75,000 DWT) 스팟 용선료, 케이프사이즈(170,000 DWT) 스팟 용선료이다. 기존 특정 선박의 유형에 대한 연구나 벌크선 외 유조선, 케미컬 운반선에 대한 운임 연구와 차별하여 벌크선의 크기별 용선료를 대상으로 연구를 수행하였다. 분석 결과, 선박의 크기별로 영향요인이 다르게 나타났는데 리보금리는 네 가지 선박유형에 모두 유의미한 영향을 미쳤으며, 철광석 물동량은 세 가지 선박유형에 유의미한 영향을 미쳤다. 리보금리는 핸디사이즈, 수프라막스, 파나막스, 케이프사이즈에 모두 부(-)의 관계를 나타낸다, 철광석 물동량은 4가지 선형 중 파나막스를 제외하고 3가지 선형에 영향을 미치는 요인으로 작용하였다. 선사의 특성에 따라 주로 이용하는 선박사이즈가 다양하며, 해운선사의 경영성과에 지대한 영향을 미치는 용선료의 운임 변동 요인에 대해 분석함으로써 용선료 부담 완화에 따른 해운선사의 경영 전략 수립에 기여하고자 한다.

통합공통구조규칙 기반 중형 살물선의 중량 절감에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Weight Reduction of Mid-sized Bulk Carrier based on the Harmonized Common Structural Rules)

  • H-CSR(Harmonized Common Structural Rules) integrating CSR-BC(Common Structural Rules for Bulk Carriers) and CSR-OT(Common Structural Rules for Double Hull Oil Tankers) came into effect in July of 2015, so that bulk carrier and double hull oil tanker should comply with this rules. So far, several studies for trend analysis of requirements of structure scantling based on H-CSR have been carried out briskly. However, those studies are rare to apply H-CSR in actual structural design of ships, especially bulk carriers. In this study, an automated system for compartment arrangement is used to search the design case that minimizes still water bending moment(S.W.B.M) in 38k bulk carrier designed by Far East Ship Design & Engineering Co. Ltd. Also, various structural design cases are considered by changing arrangement of structural members to reduce ship weight. The SeaTrust-Hullscan software developed by Korean Register is used to perform structural design of ships based on mother ship and proper design cases are selected by user. The DSA(Direct Strength Analysis) is performed to evaluate structural safety for the yielding and buckling analysis by using MSC Nastran software. The effect of weight reduction is verified by comparison of ship weight between mother ship and the selected design cases.

  • After many casualties with conventional bulk carriers in recent years, double hull bulk carrier was proposed to enhance the structural safety of side shell and transverse bulkhead. In this paper, two alternative structural designs of double hull bulk carrier were executed based on the Lloyd's rule, and the results were examined in comparison with the existing single hull bulk carrier in the viewpoints of the increase of weight and construction cost. The relative construction concept was used to certify the economical validity of double hull bulk carrier.
