More than 10 different cases of airline overrun accidents happened annually home and abroad in recent years. So the government put the guidelines to protect that kinds of accidents, which is named 'Runway End Safety Area'. However, the great part of airports are far from the standards, because most of the airports have been built before the guidelines. Moreover, in many cases natural obstacles, ambiance, and local area developments obstruct the extension of the runway to meet the criteria. For these reasons, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) recommends that the aviation fields construct 'Aircraft Rapid Arresting System(ARAS)' at the end of the runway. Many airdromes have been constructing the system and some airports have already completed the construction. In this research, our team performed a basic study about low strength perlite concrete to provide the proper material with 'ARAS'. As a result, the unit weight of the low strength perlite concrete was $4.5{\sim}6.4kN/m^3$ and uniaxial compressive strength was measured in the range of $400{\sim}1,470kN/m^2$. In addition, we tested penetration compressive strength by using CBR tester, and we observed that the strength was increased after around 60% of penetration rate. Also, 40% of penetration rate was measured through the penetration test with dump trucks.
In this study, we suggest a system to build the monitoring model for compressed natural gas (CNG) stations, operated in only non-stationary modes, and perform the real-time monitoring and the abnormality diagnosis using principal component analysis (PCA) that is suitable for processing large amounts of multi-dimensional data among multivariate statistical analysis methods. We build the model by the calculation of the new characteristic variables, called as the major components, finding the factors representing the trend of process operation, or a combination of variables among 7 pressure sensor data and 5 temperature sensor data collected from a CNG station at every second. The real-time monitoring is performed reflecting the data of process operation measured in real-time against the built model. As a result of conducting the test of monitoring in order to improve the accuracy of the system and verification, all data in the normal operation were distinguished as normal. The cause of abnormality could be refined, when abnormality was detected successfully, by tracking the variables out of the score plot.

Geospatial information data came recently in use to build the location-based service in various fields. These data were shown via a 2-D map in the past but now can be viewed as a 3-D map due to the dramatic evolution of IT technology, thus improving efficiency and raising practicality to a greater extent by providing a more realistic visualization of the field. In addition, many previous GIS applications have been provided under desktop environment, limiting access from remote sites and reducing its approachability for less experienced users. The latest trend offers service with web-based environment, providing efficient sharing of data to all users, both unknown and specific internal users. Therefore, real-time information sensors that have been installed on steep slopes are to be integrated with 3-D geospatial information in this study. It is also to be developed with web-based environment to improve usage and access. There are three steps taken to establish this system: firstly, a 3-D GIS database and 3-D terrain with higher resolution aerial photos and DEM (Digital Elevation Model) have been built; secondly, a system architecture was proposed to integrate real-time sensor information data with 3D Web-based GIS; thirdly, the system has been constructed for Gangwon Province as a test bed to verify the applicability.

The 3-D seismic research vessel, Tamhae II, was built to raise up the probability of the hydrocarbon discovery in the Korean continental shelf and the first test survey was completed in the East Sea. During the survey, the 240 channel 2-D marine seismic data were acquired by the Korean flag vessel for the first time. Tamhae II has been equipped with source, receiver, recording equipment, and navigation equipment as well as an onboard processing system. The source is composed of four subarrays and each subarray has six airguns. Total airgun volume is 4578 $in^3$. The receiver consists of two sets of 3 km long 240 channel streamer. In the first survey, the successful acquisition of 2-D seismic data was accomplished. From the result of the data processing, we confirmed that the high quality seismic data were acquired. For the high quality data acquisition, technology of survey design and planning, operation of vessel and equipments and systematic quality control should be developed.

Unlike the concrete structure built on land, that exposed to the marine environment is greatly degraded in durability due to the exposure to not only the physical action caused by sea wind, tide, and wave, but also the harsh conditions, including the chemical erosion and freeze-thaw which result from $SO_4{^{2-}}$, $Cl^-$ and $Mg^{2+}$ ions in seawater. In the process of the large scaled construction of submerged concrete structures, of course environmental hazardous substance, such as alkaline (pH) and heavy metals, may be leached. Thus, this issue needs to be adequately reviewed and studied. Therefore, this study attempted to develop a CSA (Calcium Sulfo Aluminate) activator using electric arc furnace reducing slags, as well as the eco-friendly concrete for artificial reefs using electric arc furnace oxidizing slag as aggregate for concrete. The strength properties of the eco-friendly concrete exposed to the marine environment were lower than those of the normal concrete by curing 28 days. This suggest that additional studies are needed to improve the early strength of the eco-friendly concrete. With respect to seawater resistance of the eco-friendly concrete, the average strength loss against 1 year of curing days reached 8-9%. the eco-friendly concrete using high volume of ground granulated blast furnace slags and high specific gravity of electronic arc furnace oxidizing slag demonstrated the sufficient usability as a freeze-thaw resistant material. With respect to heavy metal leaching properties of the eco-friendly concrete, heavy metal substances were immobilized by chemical bonding in the curing process through the hydration of concrete. Thus, heavy metal substances were neither identified at or below environmental hazard criteria nor detected, suggesting that the eco-friendly concrete is safe in terms of leaching of hazardous substances.
Purpose - The objective of this paper is to investigate the effect of asset specificity, the level of information sharing, the importance of information sharing, and an integrated collaborative environment on supply chain performance. Research design, data, and methodology - Data collection was implemented as follows: questionnaires were distributed to 250 companies that have business ties with Halla Climate Control Corporation. The empirical study to test our hypothesis was based on statistical analysis (using SPSS 18.0 and AMOS 18.0). The hypothesis of this paper is that the asset specificity variable has positive effects on the following variables: Level of information sharing, the importance of information sharing, and integrated collaborative environment. Moreover the variables, the level of information sharing, and the importance of information sharing are strongly influenced by the variable integrated collaborative environment, and these when combined, have an effect on the dependent variable, supply chain performance. We tested our hypothesized model utilizing path analysis with latent variables. Results - According to the results of our analysis, hypothesis H1, which tests whether there is a relationship between asset specificity and the integrated collaborative environment, is supported at the 0.01 level. Hypotheses H2 and H3 were also confirmed, and asset specificity had positive effects (+) on the level of information sharing variable. The importance of the information sharing variable was statistically significant at the 0.01 level. Hypotheses H4 and H5 posited that the integrated collaborative environment variable would have a positive effect on the level of information sharing; the importance of information sharing variable was strongly supported statistically, with a significant p-value below. Moreover, the level of information sharing (H6), and the importance of information sharing (H7) variables also had a statistically relevant influence on supply chain performance. As a result, existence of a collaborative system between companies would influence supply chain performance by strengthening real-time information access and information sharing. Thus, it is important to construct a collaborative environment where information sharing among companies and cooperation is possible. Conclusions - First, with rapid changes in the business environment, it becomes necessary for enterprises to acquire the right information in order to properly implement SCM. For successful SCM, firms should understand the importance of collaboration with supply chain partners and an internally built collaboration system, which in turn will better promote a partnership commitment with suppliers as well as collaborative integration with buyers. A collaborative system, as we suggest in this paper, facilitates the maintenance of a long-term relationship of trust, and can help reinforce information sharing. Second, it is necessary to increase information sharing over time via a collaborative system so that employees of the suppliers become aware of the system. The more proactive and positive attitudes are towards such a collaborative system by the managerial group, the higher the level of information sharing will be among the users. Successful SCM performance is achieved by information sharing through a collaborative environment rather than by investing only in setting up an information system.

Considerable number of offshore platforms have been built in Korean shipyards ever since 1976. Unlike for the cases of building ships, however, negligible efforts have been made to establish planning methodology for building onshore platforms. Severe congestion has been shown in the processes of assemblying modules of platforms. The module which is the upper part of a platform is a steel structure accommodating various types of outfittings and machinaries. The production planned without proper consideration on allocating work loads by trade used to show severe interferences among trades of workers and resulted in delayed completion. In this paper, a method of planning module assembly in consideration of leveling work loads by trade is discussed. A system of planning has been formulated and tested on a exampled case of producing a mix of 72 modules. The test showed a possibility of saving 31% of manpower and trimming 11% of through put time.
Urbanization of the world's population has given rise to more than 450 cities around the world with populations in excess of 1 million (megacity) and more than 25 so-called metacities with populations over 10 million (Brinkhoff, 2010). The United States today has a total resident population of more than 308,500,000 people, with 81 percent residing in cities and suburbs as of mid - 2005 (UN, 2008). Urban meteorology is the study of the physics, dynamics, and chemistry of the interactions of Earth's atmosphere and the urban built environment, and the provision of meteorological services to the populations and institutions of metropolitan areas. While the details of such services are dependent on the location and the synoptic climatology of each city, there are common themes, such as enhancing quality of life and responding to emergencies. Experience elsewhere (e.g., Shanghai, Helsinki, Tokyo, Seoul, etc.) shows urban meteorological support is a key part of an integrated or multi-hazard warning system that considers the full range of environmental challenges and provides a unified response from municipal leaders. Urban meteorology has come to require much more than observing and forecasting the weather of our cities and metropolitan areas. Forecast improvement as a function of more and better observations of various kinds and as a function of model resolution, larger ensembles, predicted probability distributions; Responses of emergency managers, government officials, and users to improved and probabilistic forecasts; Benefits of improved forecasts in reduction of loss of life, property damage, and other adverse effects. A national initiative to enhance urban meteorological services is a high-priority need for a wide variety of stakeholders, including the general, commerce and industry, and all levels of government. Some of the activities of such an initiative include: conducting basic research and development; prototyping and other activities to enable very--short and short range predictions; supporting and improving productivity and efficiency in commercial and industrial sectors; and urban planning for long term sustainability. In addition urban test-beds are an effective means for developing, testing, and fostering the necessary basic and applied meteorological and socioeconomic research, and transitioning research findings to operations. An extended, multi-year period of continuous effort, punctuated with intensive observing and forecasting periods, is envisioned.

The major advantage of slip-ring technology in Spiral CT is that it facilitates continuous rotation of the x-ray tube, so that volume data can be acquired from a patient quickly. Not only for such a fast scan, but also for the dose reduction purpose, high signal-to-noise ratio and fast data acquisition system is required. In this study, we have built a multi-channel photodetector and multi-channel data acquisition system for CT application. The detector module consisted of CdWO4 crystal and Si photodiode in 16 channels. For the performance test of the preamplifier stage, both the transimpedance and switched integrator types are optimized for the photodetector modules. Switched integrator showed better noise performance in the limited bandwidth which is suitable for the current CT application. The control sequence for data acquisition and 20 bit ADC is designed with VHDL(Very High Speed Integrated Circuit Hardware Description Language) and implemented on FPGA(Field Programmable Gate Array) chip. Our Si photodiode detector module coupled to CdWO4 crystal showed comparable signal with other commercially available photodiode for CT. Switched integrator type showed higher SNR but narrower bandwidth compared to transimpedance preamplifier. Digital hardware is designed by FPGA, so that the control signal could be redesigned without hardware alteration.

In the evaluation of seismic performance for structural materials and components, the loading rate and axial force can have a significant impact. Due to time-delay effects between input and output displacements, It is difficult to apply high-rate displacement in cyclic tests and hybrid simulations. Additionally, the difficulty of maintaining a consistent vertical load in the presence of lateral displacement has limited fast and real-time tests performed while maintaining a constant vertical load. In this study, slow, fast cyclic tests and real-time hybrid simulations were conducted to investigate the rate dependency and the influence of vertical loads of Isolation Bearing. In the experiment, the FLB System including an Adaptive Time Series (ATS) compensation and a state estimator was constructed for real-time control of displacement and vertical load. It was found that the vertical load from the superstructure and loading rate can have a significant impact on the strength of the seismic isolation bearing and its behavior during an earthquake. When conducting experiments for seismic performance evaluation, they must be implemented to be similar to reality. This study demonstrates the excellent performance of the system built and used for seismic performance evaluation and enables accurate and efficient seismic performance evaluation.
